So McCain is going to NOLA tomorrow to do an event to tout off-shore oil drilling, flying out to a rig on a helicopter, trying to be all Jack Bauer the oil man. His agenda: demonstrate how easy, safe, and important more offshore drilling is.

But there's a problem: today, on the eve of this stunt, there was a huge oil spill in NOLA....a 600-foot tanker and a barge loaded with fuel oil collided Wednesday, breaking the barge in half, more than 419,000 gallons of heavy, almost tar-like fuel oil spilled from the barge, forming a slick 12 miles long, said Lt. Cdr. Cheri Ben-Iesau, a Coast Guard spokeswoman.

Both candidates' plans for Iraq are remarkably similar. Obama has said he plans to keep troops there to aid the Iraqi army and maintain a peace squad, which is the same as McCain's plans.

Why is the media covering it every single time that McCain says "Obama is wrong about Iraq". This message has been constant over and over, and yet the media still covers it over and over. How is this news that he said it again?
By the way – why is the media downplaying the story that McCain got the timetable goofed up about the Anbar awakening and the surge? And ignoring the coverup editing that CBS did? The media is not critically analyzing McCain, but just giving hm space to rant against Obama.

Obama said he will live 'residual troops' in Iraq. Estimates put the number needed at 30,000 to 50,000, but Obama won't say how many and for how long. He will send more troops to Afghanistan, but won't say how many and for how long. Now he says he'd send troops back to Iraq if withdrawing doesn't work. Don't count on seeing troops come home any time soon.

Senator McCain is a man of substance and has proven leadership skills. Over the years I have voted for people not party, but as Senator Obama feels the need to put together a picture book to boost his image, willing to do anything to become the POTUS, I am disgusted that the Democratic Party wants to elect this man.
McCain is saying he will not sacrifice others for his personal gain–a concept the man has lived each day of his life. I know this may be hard for people who are concerned only with the pretty pictures of Obama pretending to be the president.
For those who say McCain only has one platform, you need to read more and from a wider variety of sources! We could claim that Obama is obsessed with the war and disappointed that the surge is working, but then again, he wouldn't have his pictures without the surge.
We are at war, even though many live their lives relatively untouched by the war. I know that it's a subject you want to hear a candidate discuss if you have friends and family IN the war zones.

And what about the commanders on the ground in Afganistan that are asking for immediate re-inforcement due to the increased numbers of attacks? As well as the obvious resurgance of the Taliban and the growing numbers of foreign soldiers coming to the aid of the Taliban!
What does MR McCain propose to do about that. How many more have to die there because the military is streched so thin that there are no more combat troops to send? Lets get real will you! This is pure stupidity and out right insanity.

We complain about having troops in Iraq but we hardly ever mention that we have over 1 million troops spread out all across the globe.
The Dems make fun of McCain about his mistakes in geography and Obama makes the same mistake about a problem with a nuclear Iraq
now the Reps can make fun of Obama. Iraq is and Vietnam have zero comparison to one another we cant even compare Iraq to Korea.

In Vietnam
58, 169 Americans killed (11, 465 were teenagers).
304,000 Americans wounded.
In Korea
33,665 Americans killed in action in Korea; 3,275 died there from non-hostile causes. *TOTAL: 36,940 Americans gave their lives in the Korean Theater. There were 92,134 Americans wounded in action in 103,284 incidents. A total of 1,789,000 Americans served in the Korean theater during the Korean War from June 25, 1950 to July 27, 1953. There are still 8,176 MIAs.

Yes there have been 4000+ dead in this war on our side but it could be far worse as you can see in the other two wars. Any scourge or plague is preferable to a war.

McCain really is still fighting Viet Nam and that was an entirely different kind of war. Most importantly, that war is over. He does not get a do-over.

We INVADED Iraq, we OCCUPIED Iraq, against the will of the Iraqi people and now they are saying it's about time for us to go and that Obama has just about the right time frame in mind. McCain needs to realize that the US will NOT be sending troops back into Iraq without the explicit invitation of the Iraqi government, something that's not likely to happen in our lifetimes. Otherwise, he is campaigning against the Iraqi government as well as Obama, and he is demonstrating once again just how out of touch he is where Iraq is concerned.

They were fighting each other for hudreds of years before we went over there and I believe it is very naive of Mc Cain to think that it will stop when we leave or when the "WIN" this war. I know what Saddam did to his people was horrible and so unjust but in all fairness that is the only way to keep them under control and give Iraq a warpped sense of peace. Saddam killed thousands of innocent people in order to keep the two factors from trying to overthrow his government. But you have to dmit that he kept the country undercontrol that way, be fear and terrorism. I think that is all the radicals understand. I think that there will always be unrest over there andthat no gov. will be able to completely stop the infighting that has gone on over there for hundreds of years. I think we need to just leave and let the people of Iraq figure out how to live peacefully on their own. JMO.
