Obama held a press conference in Israel Tuesday.

(CNN) – Sen. Barack Obama on Wednesday said the terror in Sderot is “intolerable,” and praised the residents for their courage and resilience.

“I’m here to say that — as an American and as a friend of Israel — that we stand with the people of Sderot and with all the people of Israel,” Obama said.

Sderot is a southern Israeli town that has come under rocket attack from Palestinian militants in Gaza. Obama earlier toured a home that was damaged in one of the attacks.

“Israelis should not have to live endangered in their homes and schools. I’m hopeful that the recent understanding to end the attacks will provide some relief, but America must always stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself against those who threaten its people,” he said.

Obama said he was “deeply committed” to helping Israelis achieve a lasting peace with Palestinians who are prepared to accept the state of Israel, renounce terrorism and abide by agreements.

“We must support Palestinian leaders who share this vision,” Obama said, calling attention to President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayad, both of whom he met with earlier.

Obama was joined in Sderot by Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, also toured the war-torn city when he visited the region in March.

oh yeah that putrid and vial smell are those racists, republicans and Pumas that have zero mental capacity to explain a coherent thought.
Please speak of those wonderful policies John McCain has for this great country

Grow up losers and say something intelligent about the senator from AZ. Instead of constanty bashing Obama

isn't Obama the one who pimped his children to the national press? What a charmer he is. Really. How can you trust this guy, a guy who pimps his children for political gains?

did I hear Obama lying about being on a certain committee in
Washington? He will say anything and do anything to win. He is the poster child for flip flopping.

What position will he change next?

Idiot!……as if the picture of Palestinian General hailing his people after his release from Prison wasn't telling enough while Israel's Chief of Staff stood by the deceased and saluted. Obama is dangerous for America. Can't make up his mind.

Obama Supporter from Texas   July 23rd, 2008 3:00 pm ET

Here is another story to keep Obama in the spotlight. Thanks CNN. I love to hear about my candidate.

tedious898   July 23rd, 2008 2:59 pm ET

I so wish the scores of really ignorant americans simply mentioned the qualities of their candidate (i.e. McCain) and avoiding decending into rants, insults and complaints against Sen. Obama for simply doing the best he can to lead this "off track" country of ours. None of these imbeciles have any idea how difficult it is to do what he's doing as the 1st American of African decent.

In other words, give Barack a chance by simply not insulting with every sentence. Spend less time hating him (Barack) and more time supporting the wonderful policies and proposals presented by the good senator from AZ. I know they are few. But if you try real hard you might sound intelligent and coherent.

Certainly Barack's supporters have plenty to be proud of.

tedious898   July 23rd, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Is hate, insults and disparaging remarks all the republicans and Pumas know? I understand completely now.

There is nothing positive about your candidate. Certainly you can't explain the wonderful things he is proposing to do for this great country. You are simply frustrated that you lack any material for intelligent debate while only possessing the mental capacity of an amoeba in kindergarten - no less.

Jesse - San Antonio TX   July 23rd, 2008 2:52 pm ET

I wonder what He told the Palestine Leaders when he was in a meeting with them.

This guy is an opportunist. A Fraud. He's only saying what people want to hear to get elected.

And all you mindless lemurs so desperate for change are buying the same BS Bush sold in 2000 and 2004.

Marc PDX   July 23rd, 2008 2:47 pm ET

Perhaps Mr. Obama could go talk Hamas in Gaza and dispense some of that famous good judgement for them. Same as he plans to do with Iran. That should be all it takes…

(Psst! The emporer has no clothes!)

It absolutely amazes me that there are so many uneducated people out there. Here we have NOBAMA, globe trotting, saying his little pre-written niceties. What would you expect him to do/say to these countries that have so generously contributed to his campaign? Those terroristic countries WANT him to win because he in incompetent, uneducated in foreign politics or worldly matters. He's so liberal, China, and others think with him in power, they will have it made. If you people don't wake up, they just might buy his election.

Doug, New Jersey:
"Sorry libs, it is a fact that Obama took his young children to the Trinity church every Sunday to hear Obama's Mentor Rev. Wright spew this kind of hatrid, if Obama didn't believe it then why did he attend the church for 20 years and why did he take his kids there to hear such hateful, dishonest things?

For further proof of Obama's black liberation theology I suggest that those who like facts check out Michelle Obama's Princeton thesis, there is no doubt that she hates "whitey" too."
*************************************************************
If you ever were a minority or close to them, especially in the inner cities or in impoverished areas, you would see liberation theology in a different light. Yes, we saw anger coming out of Wright's mouth, not "hatrid" as you say. And unfortunately, the good in what he had to say was diminished by his narcissistic angst, but any time you have a repressed people, historically leaders in time rise up to confront the evils of injustice. Our own revolution was a slap in the face to the establishment of the times. The civil rights movement, the women's suffragist movement, the farm worker's movement etc.

Sometimes we choose solidarity with the poor even though we may have to absorb and/or be criticized for words and actions of others in the movement. It still does not take away from the good that is being done. In my heart of hearts, I believe that this is the framework in which Obama attended this church.

In this context, you also might see the heart of Michelle Obama, who is NOT opposed to "whitey" as you say in her thesis, but in solidarity with some of the realities in being a minority and trying to look at it systematically.

To all PUMAs:

McCain has proven time and time again that he is mentally unstable, losing his ability to think cleary, and has no plans to change anything of Bush's if he is elected. He is a babbling misogynistic warmonger, and if you think he is better equipped mentally and physicaly to be the chief executive of the US and will vote for him because things didn't turn out your way–then why don't you admit what your true agenda is–you are racist prima donnas who would sell out your country for another 4 years then do the right thing for the all the citizens of this country. It's really not that hard to upstage that. Obama is being himself - what an amazing thing to see someone who not only looks but acts like a diplomat! Go Obama!!

Kaleb   July 23rd, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Obama is saying that the Hamas Palestinian attacks is intolerable? This is from a man that attends a church for 20 years that supports the Hamas movement? hmmmmm, this is hard to reconcile. Is he the guy who supports the church that supports Hamas or is he the guy who supports Israel in its struggle to be independent nation without the plagued of terror?

bimmer   July 23rd, 2008 2:22 pm ET

Sure!

To get elected he would say or do anything.

How can anybody trust him except the liberal media?

He chose a terrorist as his friend. He chose a hate monger and an unpatriotic crazy person as his spiritual mentor and dumped him like a hot potato when it was convenient to do so.

The candidate of change is now a candidate of change of position.

What a fairy tale?

MCCain ,on the other hand, speaks the truth, and a true patriot. Not a fake one. He is not articulate or smooth.

But who would be good for the country?

A smooth talker or a guy with proven track record.

Ron   July 23rd, 2008 2:19 pm ET

I'm laughing out loud at all the jealous zealots who can't stand the fact that McCain is not going to win. The Hillary cats are haters, and are green with envy, which they shouldn't be. Actually they don't have time, they have to go raise money to pay back her debt. McCain wants to change the subject about Iraq because he can't handle the truth. Instead of talking about the surge, he should talk about a war that should never have been started. His arrogance and his smirk are very mean spirited, much more than GW. George is a simpleton, McCain is downright mean.

Doug, New Jersey   July 23rd, 2008 2:08 pm ET

Yeah, Israel sure will be safe with an American president whose foreign policy will be based upon the fine wisdom he has recieved from his mentor Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

I find it shameful that Obama would choose for us to fail in Iraq so that he can win the presidency but it is far more shameful that millions of Americans want us to fail in Iraq so that their ideology of hate and lies can prevail.

Americans are seeing the truth now and the Messiah, his mentor and mind Rev. Wright, and his hate America wife will be trounced in November. Sorry libs, Americans for the most part are honest, fair, loving, and want thier nation to win no matter which party it would benefit.

leon   July 23rd, 2008 2:07 pm ET

The American people is understanding and recognizing that Senator Obama is an average politician that makes customized promises of change everywhere he goes in order to get the votes of that community.

His actions proved that he does not care about achieving or meeting his goals as the asbestos project he was involved in in Chicago shows.

Obama is moving to the center now and will sacrifice his positions with the ledt wing of the Democratic Party to appeal to the center and some right wing voters.

Is this the change we want: It is not. We do not want this arrogant person in the white house.

When Obama returns I hope he will be able to explain why this Ireal - Palestinian war has gone on for so long. I've read alot about it, but there is very little said about why this war can't be settled after all of this time fighting it. I would think the people in both these countries are tired of it by now. Maybe all of the countries in the free world need to come together to get this conflict resolved.

I'm not worried, the Israelis can and will defend themselves; against "any enemies, of the state". It's America's welfare and her safety; from her enemies, that concerns me. We aren't a country of "whiners", but some of us have become "pacifiers". What's wrong with defending yourselves from being attacked; before you are actually attacked, again? If that makes me a "warmonger", so be it. When the " attackers" states that their goal is "to destroy you, your mire existence, and your way of life". What you don't believe "them"? You think they are lying? As for me and my house, I will take them at "their words"…………….

Well done, Sen. Obama! Well done. You are articulate and brilliant!

Of course, there will be attacks, fear-and-hate-mongering from the RNC, but MOST Americans watching Sen. Obama's trip and listening will see what we do, a man whom we can be PROUD of!

After 8 years of a president who could barely speak English, who was inarticulate………. Sen. Obama, even with his "inexperience" is a breath of fresh air!

GrandMa   July 23rd, 2008 12:03 pm ET

I wish sombody ask McCain’s to explain the meaning of the world “win in the war in Irag”. this was not even the war to go in any time we com out soon we are the winner . Only 2 more this week (hopefully) - fall for those also, CNN.

Independent Voter   July 23rd, 2008 12:00 pm ET

Obama's playing with the big boys now, and what tired old over-used phrases he uses to register the required shock. He's "committed." So who isn't?

We need to support right-thinking Palestinians - right of the Bush playbook. In a moment of clarity, Bush early on recognized the need to accommodate Palestinian interest if we are ever to have peace in the region. Of course. Obama wouldn't acknowledge this; he's so naive he probably doesn't even know it!

He's trying to out-McCain MacCain. What a phony Obama is!

Frieda   July 23rd, 2008 11:59 am ET

So, this is suppose to make us forget about his friends who are terrorists? Friends and donation monies transferred to the Palestinian Liberation Organization? It doesn't make us forget.

Slider   July 23rd, 2008 11:59 am ET

Ok, Obama, it's "intolerable".

Somehow, I don't think the Palestinians are as much a proponent of "Obamamania" as the idiot Euros and clueless leftists in our country so adequately display on a daily basis.

What will you say to our staunchest friend in that region, or do you intend to serve Isreal the same tasty pie that Jimmy Carter did to a previous ally?

GWB didn't create these conflicts; nor did he exacerbate them; they were there long before America existed, and if, by some horrible joke of fate, that you become President of this great country, that truth will come crashing down upon your Harvard educated head.

What will you say then, sirrah?

"uuuuummmmm, uh, that's not what I, ummmmmmm, hmmmmm"

Indeed.

Henry n New York   July 23rd, 2008 11:57 am ET

So, far Senator Obama has done everything right on his international tour to meet and great the leaders of the world. He has shown gratitude for the reception he has gotten from each and received praise in return. This reaction from those world leaders is noticeably different from Senator MCcain's trip. His was basically a cordial meeting out of courtesy. The world seems to have a better understanding of the type of leader it needs in a man that would be called the leader of the free world and its letting us know. By comparison the world fore warned us about the Bush administration and we as a majority didn't listen.

Rave   July 23rd, 2008 11:52 am ET

Good job Sir.. you are now a super star not only for most Americans, but for the entire world.
OBAMA (2008 -16)

Anonymous   July 23rd, 2008 11:52 am ET

The multi-headed beast has finally regained its equilibrium and has agreed to attack the good Senator Obama with non-stop requests for him to admit that the "surge" is the penultimate reason for "victory" in Iraq. The beast was knocked off balance when all of Barack Obama's foreign policy ideas have been proven to be correct. His trip is already a success even if he does nothing more. The glowing reviews and hope in the eyes of our troops and our foreign allies when seeing Obama have made the beast sick to its stomach and the panic button has been pushed. After goading Sen. Obama into making this trip, the McCain camp is on the verge of total meltdown. Sen. McCain has even gone so far as to accuse the Democratic nominee of treason. Meanwhile the beast has allied itself heart and soul to the McCain campaign and the preservation of a corrupt status quo. At every stop of his tour, a different head of the beast will attack Sen. Obama with "the surge" and continue to miseducate the public about the true description of a Commander-in-chief's duties. The beast can not admit its cowardice in the lead up to this disastrous war for oil and corporate greed because in the last few decades, the beast has become so intermingled that there is no discernible difference. The beast's next attack will be to say that Sen. Obama is attacking and hates our troops because he is not giving the "surge" the 100% credit that it believes it deserves. All other factors must be ignored and marginalized or as Sen. McCain did last night in his interview–lied about. The troops love Sen. Obama and they know that he doesn't want them to be mired in an endless police action of an imperialist colony. I pray everyday that the beast has underestimated the intelligence and goodness of the American people.

Voter   July 23rd, 2008 11:52 am ET

Senator Obama, you will make a great world leader. Keep up the great job that you're doing.

georgie   July 23rd, 2008 11:50 am ET

Just one question. Why did't you show the whole interview thismorning with Katie? the oart where she had to ask him a question 3 times and still couldn't get an answer from him? the one where he didn't know how to answer because he would have had to admit McCain was right all along. Instead you chose to give an answer that was pre-written for him so he could sound good. cnn has been going back and forth about the press going for obama, and you just proved it. I know now I have to watch fox to find out the truth. Come on guys, this is about the president of our country, not of some high school. The truth does matter. Maybe this is part of what has puma so ticked off!

OMG!!!! What an incredible INSIGHT. This trip to the Middle East was worth it.

Imagine, our next president says that Israeel has a right to defend herself from terrorist attacks. What a gutzy call! Never heard that before!

And I am sure that the recent "understanding to end the attacks" will finally bring peace to the Middle East.

This is a general comment on CNN that I am sure all of you AMAZING people will not post:

It is so very OBVIOUS that you are backed by the clinton machine and are still trying to position Hillary into as high ranking position in the next government as possible. Fortunately, that's as only as high as the VP (which still won't happen, but you still try). You obviously know all the inside information on what is REALLY happening in American politics - why are you freaking out so much that it's become apparent that you are willing to expose your true agenda to the observant average American? I thought you were above letting us 'normal' people know your 'real' plans? Now look what has happened? CNN (who use to have some real respect among the observant) have fallen along the lines of Fox News, which, as many of us know, is more comparable to a circus or carnival performance than any real 'credible' network. You too are falling along that line - is it really worth it. All for an out of date politician? The future is NOW CNN. Don't fall off ship because you will never be able to get back on board. This is REAL change - not change 'projected' by the media. I know you people are scared - you should be. We are watching you.

Future   July 23rd, 2008 11:34 am ET

Because he is neither wimp nor warmonger, Barack Obama is a man's man that can call on others to account for their misdeeds.

The world needs a leader with this type of moral, ethical authority.

To God go the glory.

I can follow this leader. I can not follow McCain.

Roofin Reality, Houston, Tx.   July 23rd, 2008 11:22 am ET

Senator Obama said himself this morning that Isreal's responsibility is to protect the citizens of it's country from having bombs drop on their head. If someone were to shoot into my home where my daughters are, I'm going to do everything I can to protect them and prevent it from happening. So, using that analogy, I think dude is serious about Isreal. No worries to my Jewish friends.

Gail Concord, CA   July 23rd, 2008 11:22 am ET

Did Obama really say the Palestinian attack was "intolerable"? Wow! How astute! I'm impressed for sure.

James Hussein, SC   July 23rd, 2008 11:21 am ET

Barack Obama wants peace in the Middle-East. Do no vote for him because he doesn't love war like John McCain. Vote for John McCain because he hate Muslims and will keep the Middle-East fighting like Iraq.

The Job Interview - File This Application   July 23rd, 2008 11:19 am ET

John McCain believes the Presidency is his ENTITLEMENT.

In 2000, he was the better Republican candidate but he is no longer that same man.

In 2008, his trademark “MAVERICK” spirit has been sold out to the Republican establishment in exchange for support from the GOP base.

He also isn’t as sharp mentally as he was EIGHT years ago. Joe Lieberman whispering Shia versus Sunni in his ear revealed that and it’s not an isolated incident. John’s inability to see the basic unfairness of paying for erection producing Viagra but not ovulation regulating women’s birth control pills, and how he struggled to think on his feet about that simple topic was another indication that McCain’s cognitive abilities have slowed in the past 8 years. There’s no denying that.

Americans acknowledge that McCain worked his way through difficult years at the Naval Academy and served in the military during Vietnam. He was captured as a prisoner and held for 5 years. To call him a “hero” is probably a bit too strong … firemen rushing into a burning building are heroes … but McCain clearly followed family tradition and wore the uniform with pride. We didn’t win that war but John was part of a team of millions that fought with distinction. We can embrace that part of his life without embracing him for president.

We need to move forward into the 21st century … not look backwards into the 20th century. We need the Progressive candidate with the keen intellect.

John, you whould have been a better choice than Bush in 2000 … but the RNC has allowed your star to rise 8 years TOO LATE.

Doug, New Jersey   July 23rd, 2008 11:18 am ET

Is this as intolerable as the US Government creating the AIDS virus to kill black people?

Sorry libs, it is a fact that Obama took his young children to the Trinity church every Sunday to hear Obama's Mentor Rev. Wright spew this kind of hatrid, if Obama didn't believe it then why did he attend the church for 20 years and why did he take his kids there to hear such hateful, dishonest things?

For further proof of Obama's black liberation theology I suggest that those who like facts check out Michelle Obama's Princeton thesis, there is no doubt that she hates "whitey" too.

Now lets see if CNN needs to censor the truth about their Messiah.

We should support all who denounce terrorism. We should also avoid naming nations as our enemy or members of an "axis of evil" which alienates them further. Real leaders work to resolve differences rather than increasing them.

I don't know which possibility is the most disturbing.
