Death penalty opponents gather outside of Bishop's execution site Wednesday.
Death penalty opponents gather outside of Bishop's execution site Wednesday.

(CNN) — Support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama extend to death row Wednesday.

According to The Jackson Clarion Ledger, a Mississippi newspaper, death row inmate Dale Leo Bishop's final words before being executed Wednesday night included an appeal to Americans to vote for the Illinois senator.

"For those who oppose the death penalty and want to see it end, our best bet is to vote for Barack Obama because his supporters have been working behind the scenes to end this practice," Bishop said, according to the paper.

Bishop was convicted in 2000 of participating in the murder of a man who was beaten to death with a claw hammer two years earlier. Bishop himself did not deliver the fatal blow and, not including contract killings, is only the eighth person executed who did not directly kill his victim since the death penalty was reinstated 32 years ago, according to the paper.

Obama himself is not explicitly against the death penalty, saying it should be reserved for "only the most heinous crimes." He also said he disagreed with a Supreme Court decision last month that struck down the death penalty for child rape.

"I have said repeatedly that I think that the death penalty should be applied in very narrow circumstances for the most egregious of crimes," Obama said then. "I think that the rape of a small child, 6 or 8 years old, is a heinous crime and if a state makes a decision that under narrow, limited, well-defined circumstances the death penalty is at least potentially applicable that that does not violate our Constitution."

He's also said he would support the death penalty for Osama bin Laden.

Vote for Obama and this country will be named MexafriGermIserAmerica after we have been invaded by all countries realizing we have a spineless president with little or no courage.

A wise man once said these words
"You conservatives, democrat and republican, Call abortion muder, but dont give a hoot about bombing Iraqi children and I add for that matter they dont care about killing period when its disquised as a quest for democracy or revenge"

Read The Book of Revelations, for it gives an account of the return of the Mahdi, Messiah, Jesus and according to Revelations his return will be worse than any Terror plot ever concocted. So are you truly ready for the rapture and his return? I think not!! Get you values and morals right then lets talk…..

This article is worthless. Why even have an election? Why not coronate Obama as Saviour of the World and be done with it? The death penalty is a necessary evil. How about this? Don't commit a crime that will land you on Death Row and we won't have to use the death penalty.

Do we care what felons on death row think? We now need to listen to their recommendations on who to vote for? I think not. You have no valid opinion worthy to be heard. You are on death row. You should be spending your time thinking about your special crimes. Don't come crying now. Maybe you should have thought about that crime before you committed it. Moron.

Julie   July 24th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

I am breathing today because there was not Mandatory Death Penalty for child rapists. HOWEVER, if there had been, I likely would have been killed during or immediately following when I was raped at age 7 years old. I adamantly oppose Mandatory Death Penalty for childhood rapists. They should receive a life sentence: Never again to walk the streets in freedom, but join the General Population of criminals so restricted. I think that there is a lot of pandering of criminals in prisons. What are they doing with cellphones and cable TV? Why do they get free college educations? I am STILL paying for mine and apparently for theirs as well.

They were in one of RFK's speeches and it was shown on the internet. Where do you think he got the speech for Berlin? He read JFK's and added some extra words. Wake up. He is the biggest copycat of any candidate that ran for office of the president of this country. How did he ever managed to graduate from Harvard. Obama is out to make history for himself and himself only not for the country. He stated he is proud to be an American Citizen? If so, why was he a racist, hated white people and anti-american along with Michele? Why did he attend a racist church for 20 years. Because he loved America? You bettter get a grip on life and screen Obama better. He is a liar, fake and very underhanded and tendencies of becoming a dictator if elected. Never forget he is half Kenyan not American black and half white. He is what you call a Mulatto although the media is afraid to state that.

How can someone support abortion and oppose the death penalty….taking someones life is taking someones life no matter the circumstances.

Marie Ontario   July 24th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

Every American in favour of the death penalty wants to hope that some incompetent person or corrupt law enforcement person doesn't find them guilty of a crime they didn't commit. To think this isn't possible is not to think at all!

Murder is murder and it doesn't matter who commits it whether it is a citizen or the state the victim is still just as dead with no chance of being saved.

To take another persons life is barbaric and to do this has no place in today's modern societies.

Who does everyone think should be executed for the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women and children that have been killed?

FLA Voter   July 24th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

It's all Bush's fault!!! He got us into this mess, bla, bla, bla.

For those of you whining about CNN printing this article…they didn't MAKE the news they just REPORTED the news. This certainly makes it interesting, now doesn't it.

By-the-way…the less the United States is like Canada the better. All the more reason to keep the death penalty and no universal health care/HillaryCare.

Now we know why the Democrats want to get convicted felons their rights to vote back.

Yeah that make sense, being that McCain's children HAVE FOUGHT IN IRAQ.

Oh, you didn't know that, did you? See McCain is not a liberal Democrat so he never mentions it. If Obama had a son who served his nation, it would be included in his every speech.

Where in the United States Constitution does it say that ANYONE running for President needs or has to have ANY experience? It says you have to be 35 or older and have been born in the United States or one of its "territories"….

I wish people would stop harping on the "experience" factor… It IS a on the job learning experience.. Being a Gov or Senator you have about 1/10th the responsibility that the President has… His schedule is a lot busier than that of a Senators or Govs…. The stresses of the job of President will kill McCain.. He has to be steadied when he walks down steps or stairs by nurse Cindy…

McCain Lies: Obama was never a Law Professor, in fact he was never a Professor of anything. He was only a practicing attorney and worked for the famous crook Rezko that's where he learned how to wheel and deal dirty underhanded politics. You evidently don't know what he did to the woman running against him. He is as low as you can get. Yes, he has a big smile and giant white teeth but that doesn't fool me. Its people like you that would fall for a sweet smile and a pat on the back. I don't fall for his copied speeches from RFK's book and the copied speech from JFK when he was in Berlin. Obama is so stupid for a Harvard graduate he cannot do anything for himself without using the words of others.

Pink Elephant   July 24th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

Doug, New Jersey   July 24th, 2008 2:05 pm ET

Yawn, almost every inmate is a Democrat.

Per person there are more rapes, burglery, murders, and auto-theft in blue counties than red ones.

Oh and someone mentioned child molestors, remember which political party was stands up for NAMBLAs rights? Here's a clue, its the one who tried to take the rights away from Americans for simply being Christian.

Spend time in a red country Vs a blue one, there is a big difference in the way people act toward each other.

It really is no wonder why liberal Democrats despise the facts so much.

I favor the death penalty for all killers and that should be a mandatory law in every state. Those that appose it would no doubt would change their mind if a member of their family was murdered. And if Obama opposes the death penalty and wants it only for Bin Laden he is wrong. He has two daughters and I am certain he would change his mind immediately if one of them were murdered. Why should the killer stay alive when the victim will never see daylight again.

_______________________________________________

It is apparent from your post that the only thing you read is the HEADLINES,

If you bothered to READ the rest of the piece, you would have read:

Now, you may ask yourself why I chose to type in all capital letters. The answer is simple, maybe you wouldn't look like an idiot if you had some real substance to your post.

It's amazing to see so many McCain supporters who think America should vote for their man because of what a convicted killer said.

It's just an excuse to avoid talking about McCain claiming the Anbar Awakening was before the surge and how the surge started before it was announced. McCain even bragged the surge had protected the sheik that talked to "McFarlane" when actually he was KILLED at the height of the surge.

McCain supporters would rather talk about another killer.

Kim, Dallas, TX   July 24th, 2008 1:57 pm ET

CNN, you have sunk to a new low. Are you trying to drive people away? Is this how you distract people from the unbelievable speech just given in Berlin by Obama. Why can't we work together instead of trying to divide people. This article was clearly aimed at division.

I am so tired of reading this liberal horse crap CNN writes day in and day out. If you scroll down the headlines, 90% is either Obama or black. The other 10% is Mccain wont or cant. This sensentional news reporting is why we are so misinformed 99% of the time. I am an educated white man with some common sense and the trash CNN reports is both demeaning to me and I would hope all of Americans. Also there goes Obama again flip-flopping like a fish out of water. So if a man/woman kills a member of my family is that not a heinous crime. Expand the death penalty, limit appeals, and retire the national debt on the savings…

Remember when your kids could go the park without worrying about a child molester abducting, raping and killing them? That was back before the death penalty was outlawed in so many states - many of which have reinstated it.

William Courtland, Southern Ontario   July 24th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

The death penalty does not teach lessons, does not attempt to reform, it is a scare tactic for the populous. An internationally operated mid-atlantic prison would suit much better for this, and with permission the death penalty is the release for those aware of their own guilt who do not wish to end their life wasting in some dank, ocean separated, and forgotten cell. Antartica kills without mercy, it kills without vengence, and it kills without conscience and as the people have self elected themselves for the death penalty by nature it is more humane yet is also an escape.

The true punishment for committing capitol offenses is exile, in modern times this is exile from civilization.

Child rape?

What is invetro fertilization when considering the idea it provides as the truth for those conscienceless females in society who use such methods to steal children from those famous, or who use such plots to torment or unjustly punish unfaithful fathers by having someone impartial birth a child of their loins with the intent of acting out their want for petty vengence against that targeted male, so castrating the son or brutalizing the daughter to prostitution… What is a psyche when it is the means as a weapon of revenge?

David from Ohio   July 24th, 2008 1:50 pm ET

If we Obama supporters are asking whether McCain will use something Obama says, it's because of our past experience with the GOP twisting every little thing Democratic candidates for President say. Surely people can remember back to the 1988 presidential campaign and Willie Horton. John Kerry was attacked for trying to explain his position on a piece of legislation about which he was asked by a Republican plant. Al Gore was painted as claiming to invent the internet when in fact, he never said that and was in fact, very active in the Senate in pushing electronic communications. McCain's campaign is desperate because they know what's coming and will seize on anything Obama says to portray him as weak on national security. It's only a matter of time before the race card is played. I'm glad that intelligent Republicans who are sick of the neocons who have seized their party support Obama, but don't expect us to forgot the dirty tricks the GOP has played in the past.

For all those people in favour of State murder (THAT IS WHAT THE DEATH PENALTY IS) I would direct your attention to some other events like what recently happened in Canada where we luckily moved into the 20th century and did away with the death penalty.

Just recently a pathologist was found to be incompetent and his findings over the years resulted in at least 29 wrongful convictions for murder with likely at lot more to eventually be uncovered. Many of these were murders of young children with a family member convicted of the crime on the evidence of this incompetent pathologist.

Fortunately with no death penalty all the wrongfully convicted are being exonerated and compensated for the injustice but all the death penalty would have accomplished in these and many other cases is to eliminate the state's obligation to compensate.

There are hundreds of other innocent people over the years who have been wrongfully convicted and incarcerated but because of advances in DNA technology have subsequently been exonerated. There won't be any difference in the U.S. with the possible exception there would be more wrongful convictions due to the ratio of people.

The bottom line is our justice systems both in Canada and the U.S. serve the public fairly well but they are not infallable. It is pretty hard to bring someone back to life after you find they were actually innocent and right now the wrongfully executed in the U.S. are likely covered up to keep this barbaric practice from the dark ages alive.

A convicted killer is saying we should vote for Obama, only issue is felonies do not get to vote.

It is very strange that all these fring groups are so supportive of Obama, he scares me.

God Bless You

One more reason to vote McCain.

Geri   July 24th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

I'm really sick and tired of every little mention of Obama's name gets so much coverage. I'm sorry to say but Fox news has been the fairest of all the networks and I'm a democrat. CNN & MSNBC have been in bed with Obama since the very beginning. Lets get news out there. Obama is forgetting issues and trying to pretend he's already the President. Its an insult to JFK when they try and compare the 2. Sorry CNN if I spoke against your baby.

Wow so the fact that you glorify the death of a person says a lot about you and your mindset and the Man you want the be president. It does not surprise me because McCain does not mind killing our kids in a pointless war, and im sure just like he was ported why being a POW because who his farther was so are his son being protected. I don’t care for McCain but I would never use a persons death to glorify my choose for President

A heinous crime against a child should not be 6-8, it should refer to any child's age. We have so many of these perverts in our country who get away with their heinous crimes they have put upon our children, they get jailed and we as tax payers pay forthem to get fed and stay alive, I say they should all be executed for their sick actions on children.

Jim   July 24th, 2008 1:37 pm ET

Who Created the Death Penalty?- God Did look it up, Don't belive me?
show me someone thats still alive that is over 130 years old. God instituted the death penalty for breaking His Laws & everyone dies because we all are guilty- it is just a question of WHEN.

Little Lulu   July 24th, 2008 1:37 pm ET

One question - How many of you who oppose the death penalty have EVER had to bury a loved one who was raped, beaten to death (with a claw hammer, no less), burned, or brutally killed by some piece of human flesh who decided that they just wanted to "kill"? Just what I thought - when it happens to a family member or a close friend you'll see differently - that is if you actually have a brain up there. Even in Biblical times they used the death penalty - remember Jesus was beaten, stabbed with a sword and hung on a cross for the most horriffic death ever recorded???? And the two THIEVES, notice they were not murderers, they were THIEVES - were hung to die????

Here's an idea - take your Barack Hussein Obama and go somewhere and start your own country. See how fast it falls. Hopefully some of you will snap out of the deep sleep that CNN has hypnotized you into and see that Obama is not the messiah - he's TROUBLE. Now CNN - don't post this as usual since it is anti-OBAMA. CNN is as pathetic as Obama and the Obamanots.

Ronald L. Poehlman   July 24th, 2008 1:37 pm ET

What is the public supposed to do? Feed, educate, provide shelter, and free medical for people that take a life. If it is an accident, maybe, but for anyone that takes another humans life, the death penalty is an nescessary evil. It is bad enough people have to lose a loved one in that manner( MURDER), but to see the person responsible be cared for for the rest of their life is absurd. Especially when there are law abiding people that work and work and do not have those benefits.

Texas Trail Dog!   July 24th, 2008 1:35 pm ET

AGAIN OBAMA LIES - HE SIGNED A PETITION THAT HE WOULD END THE DEATH PENALTY IF AND WHEN HE GAINED OFFICE OF PRESIDENT. HIS CLAIM AND WISH IS TO TAKE AWAY STATE RIGHTS IN THE MATTER OF THE DEATH PENALTY. HE HAS JUST RECENTLY STATED THAT ONLY HEINOUS CRIMES LIKE 911 SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR THE DEATH PENALTY. THAT LEAVES CHILD RAPE, RAPE OF ANY KIND RESULTING IN DEATH FROM A CHILD TO AN 80-YEAR OLD GRAND MOTHER IS NOT CONSIDERED A HEINOUS CRIME. THE SHOOTING DEATH OF A POLICEMAN OR A 7-11 WORKER OR ANY OTHER PREMEDITATED DEATH SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A HEINOUS CRIME. THIS MAN IS NOT FIT TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.

Crush Rush   July 24th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

Hello, any journalists remaining at CNN–there are IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS going on today!!! And not in committee…WHY, when it was about sex and a stupid intern. was this news, and NOW, the man who pillages the Constitution gets no news coverage????

former GOP   July 24th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

Matthew
Your statement was the most asinine statement yet comeing from a sad McCain supporter in fact it was just plain stupid and smells like desperation at its best. Obama does not know that man from a hole in the ground so how is he keeping his company. I guess everyone that knows you is crazy because you are in there company and something is wrong with you judging by your comement…. Get a life and some real fact about who you next president.

Hephaestus   July 24th, 2008 1:33 pm ET

Of course Bishop was against the death penalty when he was minutes away from it being imposed upon him. He fully supported the death penalty when his victim was being beaten to death with a claw hammer. Just like Obama, he flip-flopped on the issue when it suited him. Net result: one less Obama supporter.

kelly WI   July 24th, 2008 1:33 pm ET

More lies…Obama said it was his committee when speaking of the Banking committee…He isn't even on that committee.
Now he's playing his "color" card in Germany.
Dem congress is trying to get thru a 10 cent gal. more gas tax. Just what we need.
No self-respecting person would ever vote for Obama.
Only those who want everything and everyone taxed higher one way or the other and want more Bigger Gov. that can't think further than a campaign speech or sound bite will vote for a staged empty suit.

Did you read the article bunky? The convict in question did not directly kill the victim and was only the 8th person (excluding contract killers) who was executed despite not having directly killed the victim. Try reading the article before spouting off.

Nikki   July 24th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

I feel sorry for anti-Obamacons that mock God by jocularly ranting that Obama is the "Messiah". I have yet to hear any of Obama's supporters extol him as Messiah. Be careful with your Rush Limbaugh antics, because Rush is leading you on a path of unrighteousness for his name sake.

Praetorian, Fort Myers   July 24th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Dana.

You are so behind the times.
The world that you perceive hasn't existed in at least two decades!!!

There is no way Obama has worked twice as hard as any candidate!! He's been in a continuing election since he entered public office for God's sake. And his ability is what got him to this point–not his race.

I am so sick of ridiculous accusations like this!!
Dana–do you know how many non-college educated white Americans work for college educated black Americans as their boss?

The only divergence in America at this time–is related to education–and of course the age old family/financial connections.

If you can get a college degree–it doesn't matter if your skin is polka-dot you can find meaningful and decent pay work.

Wake up. Pull your head up out of the sand and join the current century of American history.

Rocky Michigan   July 24th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

I would hope an endorsement from this man would do more harm than good! The Moderates will decide who becomes President as they alway do. Only the wild eyed liberals will consider this endorsement a good thing and they are already behind BHO 100%.

ErikS.   July 24th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

CNN, you have no shame.

doris   July 24th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

It galls me how people like Robert say that if you're black, on death row or a raciast preacher, you're for Obama. EXCUSE ME!!! BLACK FOLKS HAVE BEEN VOTING FOR WHITE CANDIDATES ALL OUR LIVES — AND NO ONE WAS CRITICIZING US THEN! Now when we get a viable black man to run for President, we are only voting for him because he is black. Since black people only make up about 15% of the nation's population, where did the other 85% of votes come from? And if black people's vote is so influential, why didn't Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Shirley Chisholm or Keys do as well as Barack Obama? And if you want to talk about him hanging around racist preachers or people on death row, they said the same thing about Jesus Christ. What was it–he eats with sinners and hang around with prostitutes and low lives. Why don't you engage your brain, Robert, before you open your big mouth about things you have no idea about!

no McCain!   July 24th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

mike s.   July 24th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

flip-floppin' obama. has built much of his political career in the state senate on opposing the death penalty, but since deciding that he would run for president has really watered down that position. no surprise there. this truly is the candidate of change: changes his mind about as often as the political winds change direction.

Freddy   July 24th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

The death penalty is only good if you use it. Sitting on death row for 20yrs while appeal after appeal goes thru is nothing. Half of death row inmates die of old age. I agree with "an eye for an eye". You are convicted and get the death sentence you get one appeal. If the conviction is not overturned then you are put to death 24-48hrs later. Not sitting in some cell so my tax dollars pay for you to have all the comforts of home except freedom per say.

I agree with Obama. You rape a small child. We put you to death no if's and's or but's about it.

McCain Lies!   July 24th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

RepublicanforObama - thanks for your support regarding Obama. You are an enlightened voter. Sorry you feel that some Obama supporters are ignorant however when I look at some of these posts from Republicans for mccain I wonder how they ever made it live. They are vicious and the names they call Barack are unforgiveable besides they downright lie. So I guess both sides are guilty of this.

S Callahan   July 24th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

What distrubs me is this man did not committ the murder but was an accessory to the crime….so where the justice in taking his life (was the murder's life taken?)? Life in prison would have been justice, a deterant to the foolish youth who hang with those who make poor decisions/choices.
I agree with Obama that this act is and should be reserved for the worst of the worst, and much legal and moral appllications applied before a life is removed from this earth.
In my law book, God is the one who doles out jtrue ustice!

Swampy   July 24th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

"How can you be against the death penalty and for abortions? Seems like a double standard to me."

Senator Obama hasn't indicated he's for abortions, only that he doesn't believe the government has a legal basis for outlawing them. That's why that side of the argument is called pro-*choice*

My question to you is: how can you be against abortion but in favor of the death penalty? THAT'S your double standard, my friends.

Eli   July 24th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

They forgot to tell you that this man was bi-polar and was first diagnosed with this in prison. So once again just like Pelosi, Dean and others you can not go by what they say if they have a disorder. DEMOCRAT for anyone other than Obama.

It's clear that in a Democracy like America based on judaeo-christian values–no life should ever be taken by the government.

In the old testament they stoned and flogged people to death. This is not part of the new testament.

Jesus would not approve.

marianna   July 24th, 2008 1:22 pm ET

This is fricken excellent !!!

A convicted murderer pitches to stop a practice of executing murderers and endorses a politician who could be against the death penalty. What is he thinking and what was he thinking when he hammered his victim to death? That he can do it, but he could not be killed for killing somebody.

This is just fricken ridiculous !!!

Jeremy   July 24th, 2008 1:22 pm ET

I oppose the death penalty but not voting for Obama. The issue is clearly who is qualified and shown through their service to America, that they should be elected. Obama has never done a thing for this country, comes out of the woodworks and want to become president?

First, Jerusalem is, always has been and always will be the capital of Isarel. No, this is not for anyone to change, especially not a muslim, anti-Jewish and Israel presidentail candidate. Obama is a liar and anyone who belives his lies about being a lover of Israel is gullible. He does not have the right to decide what should happen in that country. Neither will he bring peace with all these talks with presidents of countries that threaten the safety of Israel and other countries. Hopefully enough people will see through him in time and know the truth.

Write about how Cindy popped pills and committed adultery along with John, while he was still married to first wife!! I guess the GOP morals don't matter no more huh?

Who gives a crap what someone on death row has to say? I dont. I could care less. I think we should take everyone in the country on death row and carry out that punishment.

J.C.   July 24th, 2008 1:14 pm ET

I can't believe our government can deny child rapists the death penalty, but can give it to a guy that didn't "directly" kill someone without a second thought.

Peggy - TX   July 24th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

CNN giving murders on death row a head line for their last words lowers CNN’s creditability. Unless, for 1st amendment considerations, the inmate had something to say about their own guilt or innocents then murder’s do not deserve any more attention for their thoughts then anyone else..

A few people complain about the Obama/McCain coverage and CNN falls apart and stops filtering irrelevant news. Get your act together CNN!!!

I personally support the Death penalty as it is and I also support Obama. His position is not significantly different from mine. Just because some of Obama’s supported to not support the death penalty is not a reason to, or not to, support a particular candidate. It is the candidate’s position that matters.

Chris from NY   July 24th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

I am supporting Obama in this election, but am also getting sick of how good Obama supporters are getting at taking anything about Obama and saying "I bet McCain will use this." It also bugs me how some of you think you are so witty because you can take "McCain" and change it to "McShame" or "McClueless" or "McWar." I was expecting an inteligent issue based campaign after the primaries, but McCain's campaign staff and a small percentage of Obama's voters have turned this into the usual mudslinging that I have come to expect from elections.

joe blow   July 24th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

for all the idiots out in america who think we should abolish the death penalty, I say we should actually increase it. Let the SCUM who do heinous crimes die and die swiftly after being convicted. It needs to be used as a proper deterent, not allow these criminals to sit on death row for years and years and appeal after appeal, crying about inhumane unusual punishment, that causes pain and suffering. Thet should be killed in the same manner that they killed or harmed someone. Then and only then will you see the crime rate drop and crimes of those natures start to stop. screw the liberal's, an eye for an eye.

Dana   July 24th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

I am not surprised about CNN always putting any little thing about Obama in the media. They are just as bad as Fox news when it comes to Obama. But when Hilary was running CNN loved her and continued to dog Obama. I don't see Mccain or his wife under the same scrutiny the Obama's been facing since this race began!!

And I hate to play the race card but if if wasn't dealt, I would not be able to play it!! But Obama is considered a black man even though he has white blood running through his blood. And as a black person we have to be twice as good as white person just to be even considered for the job!! The media always portray blacks in a negative way and keep up the most racial tensions in this country!!

Justin (ny)   July 24th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

This story has exactly what to do with which candidate is best suited to lead our country?

East Coast Bum   July 24th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

CNN, you guys truly suck. I could do a bettert job at this. Who cares what a guy with both feet in the grave says. Even if it is for Obama. Whatever, CNN you guy are awful and I hate you station and website.

J   July 24th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Wow, republicans are so dumb lol. It's actually quite shocking.

Scott, Cincinnati   July 24th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Well said Dale Leo Bishop, RIP. I can't wait to vote for Obama!

Greg. PA   July 24th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Why is the media always looking for ways to hype up Obama? This is ridiculous biased reporting.

Texun   July 24th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Man bitten by dog endorses Obama.

Willie Horton will live again once the GOP smear machine gets a hold of this one. I wonder who supports JM? Execs at Halliburton?

Peter (CA)   July 24th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Here comes the Willie Horton stories.
No one will look at what this story is really about.

Mike, Syracuse—you've had some pretty questionable comments on here but the one about the child molesters shows how clueless you actually are. But I guess anyone with a computer can spill whatever crud they want.

laughing at stupidity   July 24th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

oh Matthew, that may be your conclusion as to the company he keeps, but based on your way of drawing lines between candidates and the company they keep, you obviously prove that the company McCain keeps is complete morons… Seriously. Get over yourself.

JB   July 24th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Sweet Petunia! He IS the Messiah! Even death row inmates swoon at his very name. Let us now take a moment and bow towards Germany and pay homage to the Precious.

Billy J -Austin-Tx   July 24th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Man… what a bogus story. Obama was way down the list of potential candidates for the dems to me and my wife, but this is sooooo lame. I would feel the same way if they had a story about some terrorist or cheating military contractor endorsing McCain. Pure tabloid. And feeds the dummies (on both sides)
