(CNN) - Sen. John McCain sharpened his attacks against Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday, saying he'd rather give a speech in Germany as president than as a presidential candidate.

Obama was in Berlin for the latest leg of an international trip intended to bolster his foreign policy credentials at home and set out his vision for a new era of transatlantic cooperation.

Speaking to reporters outside Schmidt's Restaurant and Banquet Haus, a German eatery in Columbus, Ohio, McCain responded to Obama's Berlin speech, which attracted large crowds at the Victory Column.

"Well, I'd love to give a speech in Germany ... a political speech or a speech that maybe the German people would be interested in," he said. "But I would much prefer to do it as president of the United States rather than as a candidate for the office of the presidency."

And your point is...? I'm confused McCain. Of course you would rather give a speech as a president. Isn't that what this is all about?

McCain is simply jealous. Yeah, he's known these people for years, and still, they've never given him a chance to give a speech. Doesn't that say something about how the rest of the world feels about him? He's part of the problem.

The message you need to force yourself to hear, McSame, is we the people are sick and tired of the misgivings of your party.

And to you Bush – I personally don't think the Wall Street is a comic affair considering the impact it has on my family's well being – first we're a bunch of whiners and now Wall Street is drunk.

We don't want CHANGE – we MUST have CHANGE.

McCain also said he would rather lose the office of president than lose a war. The war is over and we won! What war is he refering to? The one we we will be fighting if he is elected?
Is it possible the Americans will elect this man?

Here we go, it is going to be nothing but dirty sinks from here on out. McCain and the GOP will do what they do best, go negative. America, let's be smart, let's be different, let's correct the wrongs.

Obama complains that Americans don't know how to speak a foreign language, goes to Germany and speaks English. I did like the speech however. Obama would make a great President....... of Europe.

My German friends find it offensive and odd that Obama is campaigning for the POTUS on German soil.

As an American I find it amused but not surprised that Obama is
campaigning for the POTUS on German soil.

Rumor has it that the Obama campaign has inquired NASA about
the possibility that the senator from Illinois may wish to deliver a
major speech on space exploration from the international space
    station.

Sour grapes for Senator McCain and company. They wouldn't be howling as hard if their candidate was being feted by the europeans.

Hey McCain, maybe you'll think twice again before "suggesting" Obama do something – like go to Iraq. Kinda backfired on ya old man didn't it? Did ya see the ENORMOUS crowd in Germany? Wait till Obama gets to France. The WORLD LOVES Obama. He's gonna be our next POTUS. You'll never get elected Papa Smurf. Jealous some? I can't wait to watch you blow your top in one of the debates!!!!

To Alanna.. Chill out there.. polls are showing the race is shifting in favor of McBush. Maybe obama should make speeches here than in germany, I dont need a "I will learn on the job" president. Talk isnt going to get my gas price down to $2-3/gallon or get my grocery prices down. Please give me a policy Obama. You are not running to be a public speaker but running for the president of my beloved country! Can we get real policies instead of speeches from obama?

70% of Europeans want Obama elected as the American president even though 90% of Europeans would never vote for a black man as their own president.

No, you say? Then please, point out all those black European politicans for me..
