Sen. John McCain's campaign is doing what it can to counter the publicity from Sen. Barack Obama's trip.

(CNN) - Sen. John McCain sharpened his attacks against Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday, saying he'd rather give a speech in Germany as president than as a presidential candidate.

Obama was in Berlin for the latest leg of an international trip intended to bolster his foreign policy credentials at home and set out his vision for a new era of transatlantic cooperation.

McCain was campaigning Thursday in Ohio, focusing on health care.

Speaking to reporters outside Schmidt's Restaurant and Banquet Haus, a German eatery in Columbus, Ohio, McCain responded to Obama's Berlin speech, which attracted large crowds at the Victory Column.

"Well, I'd love to give a speech in Germany ... a political speech or a speech that maybe the German people would be interested in," he said. "But I would much prefer to do it as president of the United States rather than as a candidate for the office of the presidency."

ReaganDem84 – Maybe you don't know this, from whatever shallow existence your living, but Barack Obama is a US senator, and has every right to speak to foreign entities, its part of his job, and the committee he is on specifially deals with Foreign relations...better do your homework cheif...

Hey Lorraine, First off, Obama was not asked to speak in Germany it was his sole arrogant decision; it had nothing to do with the German government asking him and he was initially shot down by the Prime Minister as to where HE wanted to say the speech. Second, there was a concert going on before the big speech which is why there was a big crowd. Third, just because you can go to a foreign land and give a speech in front of a large crowd does not make you qualified to be President. The same goes for the trip to the Middle East. Just because he spends one day in Afghanistan, one day in Iraq and one day in Israel does not qualify him to be Commander in Chief. I went to Israel recently does that make me qualified? I don't think so. He may "look" Presidential but looks does not make one qualified!

    I agree with McCain.

If Obama is trying to win the race in the United States, then why is he campaigning in Germany? Seems to me like he is trying to win the vote of the world before he wins the U.S. vote....seems a bit backwards to me.

He should be trying to win over his people here in the U.S.

Mcain, if you can't even speak to a crowd of 1000 how can you handle thousands? I am not an American but I can tell you Mcain in power will represent the status quo and his warmorgerring clan will continue to terrorise the world.

Plus Mcain the world is tired and does not want to hear from YOU!

They'd LOVE McCain in Europe. NOT. He'll be riding around looking for Yugoslavvia and the USSR and the Berlin Wall. What fun. Maybe he'll look for Queen Elizabeth and be surprised how much she's aged. They can be OLD together. DeGaulle would LOVE to meet McCain. Oh my, and Kruzchev will be so EXCITED. Or did he want to meet Breznef? Tito might like to chat too. How about Franco? Papadapolis? Prince Rainer and Princess Grace ( his favorite movie star I bet). Do them all baby. Take your ouji board and have at it.

McCain first attempts to discredit Obama for his lack of foreign policy experience. Then, he makes a trip abroad of his own and intimates that Obama should follow his lead. Now, as Obama captures the global stage, McCain blasts him for doing so. McCain so very much personifies the "Same Old Washington" that America has grown disinfranhised with. The sad part is that he doesn't seem to realize that he's his own worst enemy when he acts as he is now.

Have anyone noticed that Obama lost most of the states to Hillary after the crowd of 75,000 at his rally in Oregon?

Berlin people's curiosity won't select the President of United States!!!! Americans will and they sure know how to select the most qualified candidate to be the next President of this great nation!

Toni Castillo, Romeoville, IL – I find it funny how no one including yourself, has even mentioned that McCain was over in Europe and in Iraq, and Afghanistan numerous times, but nah he was not pandering, nah never....

Get a clue, Barack is doing a wonderful job, and will continue to do so as president of the United States..

    Pardon me,
Didn't Senator McCain deliver a nice speech regarding NAFTA up in Canada just a few weeks ago? Maybe, say, around June 20th or so?

So Reagan84, how does that fit into yuor comment from 3:58?
