(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday challenged people to look to Berlin as an example of what can be accomplished when nations come together to tackle global challenges.

"This city, of all cities, knows the dream of freedom. And you know that the only reason we stand here tonight is because men and women from both of our nations came together to work, and struggle, and sacrifice for that better life," he said before a massive crowd at Berlin's Victory Column.

Watch: Obama says the world needs to unite as one

Obama introduced himself as a "proud citizen of the United States and a fellow citizen of the world."
Thousands gathered for Obama's highly anticipated speech - an event the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said was not a "political rally."

Obama is loved through out the world.

Compare this to the protests every time Bush pays a visit... anywhere.

Or the lack of interest in McBush.

Obama must be the next president of the U.S.!

Could be worse. I think if McCain did this they'd throw food at him-just like I would...

It sure wasn't diplomacy that brought down the Berlin Wall–in case Mr. Obama hasnt' read up on the "cold war error".

    He disgusts me.

Those same people cheering for him today–still owe us money for repatriation and reconstruction under the Marshall Plan.

What a sick display of butt kissing.

    Dear Sir,

I think he should run for UN president and leave us alone.

It is so sad that we have such limited choices for president, Jack Welsh, he should run for president.

We have been the most powerful country on earth due to our economy and now guess what America, the world is not our friend when it comes to the economy.

All our jobs are going overseas, our dollar is at record lows, and Bush is going to China cause we need them to continue buying our debt.

We need a president that is for the United States, for economic growth, and does not bow down to ever foreign head of state.

    God Bless You

    Sometimes words do matter.

Much like Kennedy, Obama has the gift to use inspirational words to bring people together to collectively realize mutual aspirations.

Obama is a truly a blessing from God.

That's what I call a World Leader. Maybe McCain can learn something from this man. However, it's not easy teaching old dogs new tricks.

Standing together is the only way the world will ever come to a consensus regarding pollution, energy and the future. It's time to finally bring an end to the derisive, abusive policies of the current Republican party. Obama sees this and is a strong proponent.

    Change? Yes.

    LIE...

Reality Check: Obama is like everyone else in Washington, ok ok not like EVERYONE else because he does not have the same experience as more then 90% of them.

A vote for Obama is a vote for affirmative action

Obama, I just watched your speech. You just made me so proud to be American. It's clear that the world adores you. I love what our country stands for and you symbolize the freedom that is granted towards all citizens. The walls we truly do need to turn down are the walls that separate us caused by fear and mistrust. Thank you for representing us so eloquently.

A lot of US Senators back home who have been working hard for many more years than Barack...who have been through re-election battles...who have fought hard on their agendas and bills...

...they are gonna be pretty PO'd right about now.

And oh BTW why are taxpayers paying for Obama's trip??? This is ridiculous...

you can speak for me ANY TIME, president obama!!! THANK YOU for showing the world, we are not all a bunch of idiots over here. bush has brought A LOT of shame on america, and only obama can take us not only back to where wer were, but BETTER than we were!

and old bozo mccain must have jessica simpson consulting his staff, airing anti-obama ads--filled with the typical GOP lies and misinformation-in Berlins in the u.s. what an arrogant fool. only the neoCONs are against peace and prosperity FOR ALL!! why are people STILL dumb enough to keep these neoclowns around? you're welcome to have zero self-respect, but you arent gonna drag the rest of us down with you. if you want to continue to live in your victim, poor me role, go for it, but get out of the way of us americans who want to make our country GREAT again!
