(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday challenged people to look to Berlin as an example of what can be accomplished when nations come together to tackle global challenges.

"This city, of all cities, knows the dream of freedom. And you know that the only reason we stand here tonight is because men and women from both of our nations came together to work, and struggle, and sacrifice for that better life," he said before a massive crowd at Berlin's Victory Column.

Watch: Obama says the world needs to unite as one

Obama introduced himself as a "proud citizen of the United States and a fellow citizen of the world."
Thousands gathered for Obama's highly anticipated speech - an event the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said was not a "political rally."

My next president made me so proud today. I challenge America to think of another candidate who could have done what he just did.

I love the fact that change is in the air.

    Go Barack, make us proud.

And I call for those speech writers to stop writing speeches so we don't have to listen to their puppet boy.

Not qualified and not informed! The debates proved who knows the facts and is most trustworthy.

PUMA's for Hill (McCain it will have to be)

His speech was good but not nearly as eloquent as Bush's "Wall Street got drunk" or "Childrens do learn" . Obama can only dream to verbalize like that!

Wow, you know it was a successful speech when the bitterness from Republican posters goes off the scale!

To all you haters, your anger right now only confirms that Obama's speech was a success, and that his popularity throughout the world is something that McCain can never compete with.

America is supposed to be the leader of the free world. And anyone who wants to be the leader of America, is also campaigning to be the leader of the free world. So yes, it DOES matter what other countries think of our leaders if we want to maintain our status in the world.

The world is always willing to stand behind the United States–just as long as the U.S. accepts most of the costs and most of the risk.

Go home–come back when you've gotten a reality check kid.

Hussein Obama sells his country down the tubes for a citizenship in the global community... sounds like redistribution of wealth to me. If he and the Euros are so in love with one another, maybe he should stay there.

Hey libs, why is it that your messiah Hussein Obama gets the overwhelming majority of press coverage and the benefit of a Pro-Obama PSYOP campaign vehicled by the American media, yet he is still tied in the polls with McCain?

FOR THE RECORD, THE SELMA MARCH OCCURRED IN 1965, 4 YEARS AFTER OBAMA'S AFTERBIRTH INCIDENT... SO OBAMA LIED TO YOU!!!!!!

I find it odd that Obama, the "anti-war" candidate, chose to give his campaign speech in front of the Victory Column, erected by the Germans to celebrate their military victories over the Danes, French and Austrians in three separate WARS. Other than that, he did a good job of reading someone else's words from a teleprompter.

It's nice to see foreigners for once cheering for anything American. "Death to America" wears thin after a while.

BTW, I thought Obama did a great job.

It is so refreshing, after 8 years of hearing nothing other than fear mongering and hate, to hear something inspiring. We know we will get more of the same from John McCain but starting off fresh is the only hope for this country! I will take my chances on anything better than what we have and what we will get from Mc Same.

a campaign speech on tax-payer dollars given in a place that remembers another cult hero hitler in front of a crowd there because of a concert.A no substaince speech in front of people who cheered 9/11 with the same enthusism.im glad to see there are others with brains who see right through him.after reading all these brainless robots sing this morons praises for one of the most boring say nothing speeches ever given.I think its safe to say thoug that lookin at polls this trip didnt have the effect the golden boy wanted. He is unelectable no matter how much the liberal fascist media pushes this tomatoe can.matter of fact the more they push the more america rejects him.WE are electing a president of the united states not the united nations(a failed organisation). We want a citezen of the united states not a citezen of a crazy america hating world.

    Obama haters,

Just so you know he (Obama) has 10 years of ELECTED public service. Bush, had no where near that and ruined our once great nation.

Give this man a chance. If, in 4 years, he has done nothing – ELECT someone else. This is how our Federal Republic works!

If he can deliver on just 1/3 of his promises our nation can begin it's economic and foreign relations healing. It's going to take 20 years to repair what Bush did to our nation in just 8 short years. His policies have ruined the lives of millions of people.

Our nation is for sale to the highest bidder. Only Obama can take it off the market.

Im tired of people talking about the surge as a reason to not vote for Obama. The surge did not work completely. I dont care what the news feeds you. The surge was suppose to last for 8 months. Its going on for 2 years. it was suppose to be so the Iraqi's could come together politically and satisfy certain requirements...which some still havent happened. But on a side note: How many people who talk about the surge care about the military not seeing their family, or repeat deployments, higher divorce rates, etc. Maybe people forgot the reason we went to War has been proven false...so we wouldnt have needed the surge if people wouldve thought smartly from the beginning.

Now people are saying that because Obama did exactly what McCain didnt think he could do...he is wrong for that. Why, because he didnt bomb? Its sad that Obama unites people and McCain wants WAR!.

Im in the military and would never vote for anyone that is so much a War monger as McCain. I appreciate that he served his country, but that doesnt make him presidential material

Thank God it is the People of the United States that vote for President.

This man is not even The Candidate of his party yet and pompously parades himself around the world. I am glad that the Germans and
the Arabs love him I only wish they would keep him.

Let me make it perfectly clear THIS PRETENDER WILL NOT BE
PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES....Not this election not in the
future either. Americans of all Races know better. We love our country too much to put someone with no experience in power.

You people who are still supporting McSame need to wake up! Obama has the vision to not only inspire citizens in our own country to take part in rebuilding our economy and reputation in the world, but inspire people in other countries to support our policies and trust us again. The only thing that McSame inspires me to do is to go take a nap because I'm tired of hearing his incoherent babbling.

There is something called destiny. Many folks have tried to belittle and derail Senator Obama but they are hitting a concrete wall. There comes a time when history is made in a significant and against all odds. I cried once again, watching Sen. Obama today. With him, we are going to be headed in the right direction. We certainly can't do any worse than we have the past 8 years. Sen. Obama, we continue to pray for you as you march forward. Party at my house on November 5.

This is a free society, Its not like they were forced to stay and listen to Senator Obama. I watched the speech, and the faces of the people as they were listening. They were truly inspired by what he had to say.

How are you people applauding this? Don't you see that globalism is part of this CFR lacky's agenda? A vote for Obama is a vote against our national soverignty. This man has no intention of maintaining the Republic. Sometimes change and taking down walls aren't good ideas.
