i dont understand why People here talk so neagtive about his Speech in Berlin. The Friendship between USA and Germany is a old Friendship and really important for us. and we waiting so long for a President who work for this Friendship. That has nothing to do with , the want to be the german President.
I am from East Germany, i lived 19 Years behind the Wall. I know what it means to fight for Freedom. But most People can not understand this.

Wow! So many comments, so little thought... sometimes. I think it is great that Obama shows the world his face. Of course Germany loves him because anything is better than George Bush. Germany has seen the horrors of war and since the beginning of the Iraq War, they have lost faith in American foreign policy. (We still don't understand the "Defend our country" stuff, since you really have never been attacked by another country) Obama's appearance in Germany (and other major players in Europe later on this week) shows that he is willing to work peacefully with countries. Many Americans do not realize how important the American President is to the world community (the fact of the matter is that most Germans know who is running for President in the U.S., but Americans couldn't say the same about Germany.) The Iraq War is just one example of how American decisions influence Planet Earth as a whole and I think it's great that Obama introduces himself to other countries around the world as a potential leader of the one and only superpower. I also think it's time for the world to love America again. I certainly do and this great country deserves better than the image it has right now. I am not American, but I love this country and its people (well, I guess not all of them). I just wish my fellow countrymen now better understand why I made the decision to come to America. People like Obama allow the world to see the United States' potential. @Bond_Dallas: Actually every German is required to learn English in 3rd grade and the vast majority of Germans under the age of 50 is fluent in English. Just letting you know.

A poll taken today in Germany , states that 57 % would not prefer a cult like leader like Obama , but rather a leader that has solid commitment to issues with substance and a record of achievement.
12 % said that they didn't know enough about Obama .
Perhaps Europeans are smarter and more astute when it comes to their politics.

Speech in Berlin was great like the others as always. The message was at staging phase to restore America's credebility in the eye of the world. Our allies across the ocean would welcome the diplomatic efforts, understanding for a common cause as promised by Senator Obama on behalf of the American people. Let me get this straight! I guy raised by a single parent makes his way to Harvard law school where he presides over the Harvard law review board and goes on to be a constitutional law professor at Harvard. This same guy leaves Harvard to become a Community organizer on the south side of Chicago; one of the most tough communities in America. He later wins a seat in the Chicago legislature where he sits for five years before winning a bid to the United States senate. He pens two books, runs for president as a virtual unknown, reinvents campaign finance, and dismantles the campaign one of Americas most recognized and beloved politicians. Then to make matters worse this same guy tours the world to worldwide adoration and respect. I think I agree with the bloggers; he has no experience, as a matter of fact anyone of us blogging, opinionated, internet darlings could wake up tomorrow armed with a great speech and do all this man has done? Don’t be silly, sometimes the proof is in the pudding. Although, when dealing with backward logic that says hey I loved Hillary; therefore I will trash all that her and the DEMS stand for to vote for McCain. Consequently, if Barack Obama does not add Hillary to his ticket as Vice President I will never vote for him, because “this is not a popularity contest, it is about the issues!”

Many Americans do not appreciate this rock star world tour and the media bias has become propaganda, which frightens Americans.

Also, how come it is not being reported that Germany had to pay more than 1/2 million of their own money to have Obama as a guest in their land. A lot of people do not appreciate that. And it has not gone unnoticed that Obama chose Hitler's famous Victory Column as a speech site. Bad idea.

It is amazing how you have people in this country who get pscrewed (politically, that is) day in day out and don't even realize it. They have been fed so much crap by people who thrive on planting and encouraging divisions among people that they would rather listen to fools like Rush Limbaugh (who makes $400m for talking crap) or silly Sean Hannity in order to find out what is best for them and for america. Seriously people, why are you so willing to be used so easily?. It is like you're blinded by your ignorance or unwilingliness to be objective and seriously listen to both sides of the argument or at the least use your common sense. It doesn't matter what candidate or party you want in office, but at least your decision should be based on substance and not just simple partisanship or hatred. I mean think about, let's for a moment dissect what John McCain has been saying for the last three days. Can anyone really claim that what is talking about makes sense at all, the surge, drop of crude oil price being because of George B, Barack wanting to lose a war, does any of this make sense at all? I think next thing we'll start hearing America is going to win more gold medals at the upcoming Olyimpics because of the surge!!!!!!!!

The world does not end in LA or NY and not only Americans have died in Afghanistan or Iraq, but also Britain, Australians and as far as Afghanistan is concerned also Germans.
