Obama visited the Western Wall early Thursday.

(CNN) — Barack Obama has been greeted by enthusiastic — at times even wild — crowds throughout his trip abroad, but at least one man wasn't happy with the Democratic presidential candidate's visit to one of the most sacred spots in Jerusalem early Thursday morning.

During an unannounced visit to the Western Wall — during which he was escorted by the Wall's rabbi, Shmuel Rabinovich, a man only yards away from the Illinois senator repeatedly yelled "Obama, Jerusalem is not for sale! Obama, Jerusalem is not for sale!"

The comments come a day after Obama reiterated his stance Jerusalem should remain the capital city of Israel. Though he noticeably did not repeat his headline-grabbing June comment that the city should remain “undivided.”

Watch: Obama steps gingerly in Israel

Shortly before he arrived in Jerusalem Wednesday, a group of religious leaders there charged him with flip-flopping on the status of Israel’s capital, and called on him to re-commit to that position.

"I also have said that it is important that we don't simply slice the city in half, but I've also said that that's a final status issue. That's an issue that has to be dealt with with the parties involved — the Palestinians and the Israelis. It's not the United States' job to dictate the form in which that will take, but rather to support the efforts that are being made right now to resolve these very difficult issues that have a long history," he told reporters Thursday.

Jerusalem has also been claimed by Palestinian leaders as the capital of any future state. Congress passed a law declaring the city the capital of Israel, and saying it should remain undivided, but the U.S. Embassy has remained in Tel Aviv.

After a brief prayer, Obama walked to the Wall and left a note, as is custom, before placing his hand in the Wall and bowing his head. Meanwhile, the heckler continued his chant as Obama left the site.

Others who had gathered around attempted to obscure the heckler's words with chants of "Obama, Obama."

Obama's visit at the Wall lasted about 10 minutes. Obama noted later to reporters that his visit there was “rowdier than the last time.”

If we gave the western fifth of the United States to Native Americans to have their own state, would that be unjust? Everyone else could live there but most would have to leave so that Native Americans would always be the majority. The state would be defined as a Native American state so that other people would have rights, but could not participate in the national identity. They should have the right to their own state since they were the victims of genocide and forced relocation, just like Jews were. If you don't support the above, then you shouldn't support the founding of Israel.

The heckler was actually John McCain in disguise. He had just finished yelling at a cloud too.

No wonder America is going down the tubes the news medias are complicit out of fear of losing their corporate sponsors. Remember being cheer leaders for the Iraq invasion and now slamming Obama with anything they feel will benefit McCain. Shameful and disgusting antics from the comedy channel.

…hmmm, tell everyone, did Obama offer to turn water into kool aid and make bread out of a rock or something..!!?. According to his supporters, he's our savior that has all the answers where others in the past 60 or 70 years have failed. Remarkable.
We all can't wait to find out what this guy, who can't even unite his own party, pulls out of the air the solutions to unite us ALL!!

Voice of Reason   July 24th, 2008 12:09 pm ET

To those who post in complaint that the media covers any one candidate more favorably than another, I suggest you consider the possibility that the candidate receiving such favorable coverage ACTUALLY IS MORE FAVORABLE than the other. I know it may be hard to fathom, but some people are better than others and handle themselves more appropriately, with more decency and in a more stately fashion than others. In fact, you should be suspicious of any news outlet that could find the exact same amount of dirt, mistakes, flaws, achievements, accomplishments, praiseworthy acts, between two totally separate and distinct politicians. True journalism reports the facts. It is absolutely possible that one person's facts can come out better than anothers.

The history of Jerusalem is extremely complicated. First, there were the Jews. Then came the Romans. Next, come the Muslims. Then, the British and French. And whoever decided that the land should again belong to the Jews. Men trying to rewrite history, and then others using the name of God to say that's theirs.

yeah, well, he needs heckeld. I am going to hecle him when he comes around my town again. I want to know more about this domestic security force he talked about in Fort Collins, CO last month. he claims he would want it to be civilian and it would be as large as the military with a like budget. Well, hello, the military is 500,000 strong with a $439 billion budget. Wehre is this money going to come from? And are we talking about spying on people as part of this force (looks too much like the Hitler Youth). Sounds like more population control. So we'll probably be arrested for talking about the Constitution because we are whacos if we do. And i find it interesting that quotes from him like this are swept under the rug by MSM.

Hllary backer for mccain……if hillary was so loved and praised, why did she not win…and who is talking about hillary anyway…go hide somewhere…as for the one heckler…is there nothing else more news worthy…Obama has it going on and u all know it…this is a whirlwind none of you racist can conceive of and like it or not you will have a Black President…Black Folks have been following White Folks since being brought over on the ships and have acheived nothing…I say its about time you followed a Black Man…one thing for sure, you will not suffer as Black Folks have…so consider yourself lucky…

Further, 90% of the Israelis never born in Israel, but 99% Palestinians born in Palestine.

Do they have freedom of speech there? Even if they don't its the one guy's perogative to do so. At least it was 4, 5 or more like at one of Senator McCain's speeches as shown on CNN.

Zac, Atlanta   July 24th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

Was the heckler a Palestinian? That would make sense. Every Presidential candidate has confirmed Israel's "right to exist" but haven't said much on a Palestinian state. A stateless people, with no home, few allies, huddled in a cramped city with walls on all sides. Of all people, those of Jewish decent should be able to relate…

I'm pretty sure my comment will be erased again, but it is not just one person, but many people in Israel mistrust Obama. He was always pro-palestinian and just recently changed his position to appeal to the Jewish voters.

WeCanSeeRightThruObama   July 24th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

Those people who wrote "one man heckled Obama…" or "one heckler… big deal" don't seem to understand the point of the story.

The story is NOT about one man heckling Obama. Rather the story is about Obama's inability to stick to one position on Jerusalem as to whether it should remain the capital and undivided or not. The heckler in the story is just used to highlight the apparent inequities of Obama's statements over the last few months.

Clown News Network   July 24th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

CNN please please give McCain the same type of critical coverage that you give Obama, theres plenty of bad news there- or is CNN terrified of being labeled LIBERAL?
Obama by a landslide!

Buckeye12   July 24th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

JD   July 24th, 2008 12:00 pm ET

I must say, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot or Hitler would have been proud to have some of you in their service. In addition to your unquestioning Obama-love, you virulently wish to deny Mr. McCain a voice in this election. Along with childish name calling, many of you want him to "shut up" or "go away", and were unbelievably glad when he was denied by the NYT.

The People DESERVE to get the full explanation of both candidate's positions without slander, exaggeration and hyperbole. The best ideas will STAND ON THEIR OWN MERITS.

Well, Obama has said Jerusalem will remain capital of israel (like he gets a vote), will remain undivided, yet must work out a solution with the Palestinians, who also claim the city as their capital. Sounds like mutually eclusive answers to me. Obamian logic I guess.

ummm   July 24th, 2008 11:51 am ET

The "skullcap" Sam is referring to is actually correctly called a kippah or yarmulke. It is worn by Jewish men to demonstrate respect and reverence for God. It isn't a Muslim piece of clothing at all, although some muslims do wear a hat-like article called a topi at times. Geez. If your going to insult this candidate, try to get your religious artifacts straight. He was at the wailing wall, a Jewish religious site for goodness sake!

Oh, and CNN, thanks for wasting copy space on a lone heckler…it really makes me want to take another look at McSame's campaign now.

I don't care about a heckler in Israel. And come on CNN, stop bowing to Oprah's wishes!

hahahha obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes we can

Joan   July 24th, 2008 11:48 am ET

This is a ridiculous post. Hundreds, maybe even thousands, have applauded him since his trip began and you run a story about ONE man heckling him. The headline only will be picked up by the right and they will exploit this shamelessly. This is misleading reporting.

Frostlanta   July 24th, 2008 11:48 am ET

One heckler vs. the thousands that show up to heckle McLiar!!!!! Give me a break. If Big O can handle all of the repug hecklers around the country then 1 man won't get to him.

CAN IT BE??!!! The Obama news/gossip rag actually printed a blurp about someone who doesn't like the Annointed One?? OFF WITH YOUR HEADS, YOU DISSENTER!!!

John   July 24th, 2008 11:47 am ET

this is why they need to ban organized religion…society has proved too imature to handle such beliefs. In your own home is fine, but anything more turns the world into a bunch of crazies who start crusades/jihads "in the name of god"….not to mention heckling people who don't believe as they do

"uuuuuhhhhh, uhhhmmm, uh, well, uh, uhmmmmmm" – Senator Obama.

Looks like a non-partisan didn't take too kindly to the good Senator's foreign policy statement concerning that area of the world.

Palestinians don't drink Kool_Aid, Democrats, and they don't honor agreements with Israel, or anyone else for that matter. Yet, you wanna have dialogue with them, cause no one like Obama has ever done so before.

Yeah, right.

They don't buy your "change", son.

The Media has become so engrossed in Obama that it has become histarically funny. They report his every move, just put a sequined, white jumpsuit and here`s a new Elvis We have started tracking all the times he is mentioned and it`s becoming a contest as to who can list the most . Soooo funny and so much for impartial news !!!! This may be the JOKE of the Century.

LatinoForObamaLove   July 24th, 2008 11:45 am ET

CNN you should be ashamed of your self to report about one heckler.

meshel   July 24th, 2008 11:45 am ET

I totally believe that if Obama is elected President the country is in for a big, huge problem – not because he is black, but because he is a Muslim. Check out this guy's background. He hangs out with the wrong crowd (his church, won't pledge allegiance to the flag, wants to take oath of presidency not on a Bible but on the koran), this guy is trouble. This guy is slick, just like the anti-christ, perhaps he is. Israel has a lot to be afraid of – and rightfully so. But being a USA citizen, we should be afraid – very afraid.

May God truly Bless America

vicki   July 24th, 2008 11:45 am ET

CNN are you SERIOUS about this article? ONE person and you make a headline?
McCain is heckled at least 50 times a day at EVERY townhall meeting. Get life.

Get real. Who hasn't been heckled in Isreal? Let's start the list of who has…George H. Bush, George W. Bush, Laura Bush, …..

I didn't know Obama had that kind of money to buy Jerusalem. Some republican probably offered him cash to go up there and say it. I wouldn't put it past them to be honest. Let's get back to the issues; GAS, ECONOMY and the WAR!

Praetorian, Fort Myers   July 24th, 2008 11:44 am ET

Y ou idiots!!

We should step when ANY elected representative of the U.S. or envoy of the U.S. on official business receives anything less than a cordial visit. Hecklers, attackers, hecklers—should always be discouraged and unsupported by U.S. citizens.

Where's your loyalty to your NATION?

Helen, NY   July 24th, 2008 11:43 am ET

Hello CNN, Where is my message. I have said it and I say it again that Barack Hussein obama is a fraud.

"Hillary Backer for McCain":
"She was robbed of her right to be President. Dark forces stole it from her."

"Dark force"? Why don't you come right out and say "A black guy "stole" it. Of course, in this case, when you say "stole" you mean got more votes, more delegates, more superdelegates, ran a better campaign that stayed fiscally solvent, and energized volunteers in every state and a few territories.

Or you're just a complete lunatic who thinks that either Satan or Lord Vader conspired to "steal" the election from the lady who couldn't win the nomination even after lending herself tens of millions of dollars.

Laura   July 24th, 2008 11:41 am ET

I'd rather hear about issues that Candidate Obama would take care of in OUR country: Illegal immigration and its continual drain on healthcare, social services, and education; repeal of NAFTA and a strong hand in dealing with drugs and illegals coming in from Mexico; reigning in our trade deficit with China (which is destroying our economy); national health insurance for legal US citizens; defense and support of our country on our soil!

TangoDancer   July 24th, 2008 11:41 am ET

It's impossible to please everyone. There are too many opinionated people on this planet. Too many fanatics as well. The candidates should not be pressured into certain positions by people with extemist view-points. It's a dynamic and fluid environment around the globe and both McCain and Obama deserve the right make adjustments as needed. These people that heckle and shout at politicians are just obnoxious.

First, to those that think he is wearing a skull cap – its called a Yakima. Second, one man out of around 40,000 over the last 6 days made one loud unsubstantiated vocal attack. This is what CNN calls controversy worth the cost of news to fit print.

deb0155   July 24th, 2008 11:39 am ET

The sad thing is – it actually took a foreigner to see the "real" Obama – a fraud and flip-flopper! Unfortunately, Obama will say and do anything to get to the White House – even selling out the American people!

Austin Chuks, Lagos, Nigeria   July 24th, 2008 11:39 am ET

Come on Guys; The crowd was against the heckler. That sounds more like good news. That heckler was the odd man. I guess everyone knows who sent him there!

Again, if he wasn't heckled at all, it wld be said to be a stage-managed foreign trip.

The Very Change We Can Believe In, is not easy, but it is absolutely necessary!

Why should I care about Israel? They decided to come in and occupy the land, so obviously there's goign to be some problems. Besides, they have enough firepower to defend themselves against anything in the area. They don't need us.

Morningstar   July 24th, 2008 11:38 am ET

Obama has taken worst than that from Hillary and repugs. He had a wonderful visit in Israel and in the Middle East. This proves once more that intelligence and good judgment are better than Washington experience.

Joyce, ny   July 24th, 2008 11:37 am ET

It's amazing how ignorant some people in this country are. The head cap that Barrack is wearing is customary jewish tradition when visiting their holy places. It is a sign of respect. Bush wore one too when he went there.

That image of Barack wearing that and visiting the wall I must say is pretty powerful.

I like what he said about Jerusalem – it is not the US who would dictate what happens to it but the people of Israel and the palentinians. Enough meddling in other people's affairs. Let's solve our own problems first and foremost.

Oh! The Irony   July 24th, 2008 11:37 am ET

Give it up. Nothing was stolen from her. Since when does anything get stolen from a white woman in America and given to a Black man?

She failed to plan. Period.

Praetorian, Fort Myers   July 24th, 2008 11:37 am ET

I am a conservative–I feel all American's when our elected officials (regardless of their party affiliation) do not receive the respect their position desrves when traveling abroad. This is especially true with Israe–since their ridiculous foreign policy makes it quite difficult to remain an ally–while still saving face with the "real world".

I spit on these idiots who disgrace our envoy from Israel's biggest financial supporter.

Tony, Miami   July 24th, 2008 11:37 am ET

When Bush go in Europe he has 50000 heckers to boo and most of the time a little town hall meeting with McEnd carry more than 5 or 6 heckers.

CNN producer Sasha Johnson, a pool reporter for the brief visit, reports a man screamed “Obama, Jerusalem is not for sale” throughout the event despite pleas from the crowd for him to stop.

Obama shook hands with some in the crowd as many reached out to him as he departed. He then went by motorcade to the airport in Tel Aviv, where he took off for Berlin.

Tell the WHOLE story CNN….Thank you.

Anti-Wing Nutt   July 24th, 2008 11:35 am ET

Obama should have told him “Great, then our bombs, airplanes, support services, and millions in aide that keep you putzs safe on a daily basis will go away, because we don’t want to make it look like Jerusalem is for (SALE)”.

I wish we would stop aide to this country, they think that the USA is a province of Israel, this would stop that idea.

Shari, NY   July 24th, 2008 11:35 am ET

"At least one heckler" – and this is newsworthy!!! I guess there is disappointment among some that the show of discontent was just MINISCULE. I am so pleased that I have already decided who I will vote for come November and will not be swayed by anything or anyone during the "silly season".

Jake   July 24th, 2008 11:35 am ET

It's hilarious really. The Obamatrons complain about the coverage of one heckler on Obama. Yet, when one volunteer shows up McCain at a rally, suddenly the Obamatrons swarm in to support that attack. You people are really something. Grow up and start dealing with the real world.

One idiot and this story makes news………

Lori Goldin-Grand Rapids Michigan   July 24th, 2008 11:32 am ET

As an undecided Jewish female voter, it was nice to see Senator Obama in what I consider the holiest place in the world. It was especially considerate of him to wear a headcovering. However, I would like him to pick one stance regading both Israel and the war that we are in and stick with it.

Chris - Pennsylvania   July 24th, 2008 11:32 am ET

Please fix the caption of the picture featuring Sen. Obama at the Western Wall. It says McCain visited the Western Wall early Thursday. Obviously a typo, but a pretty huge one that needs to be fixed.

Janice   July 24th, 2008 11:32 am ET

I wonder if Obama's hand burned when he touched the wall?

Westthea   July 24th, 2008 11:32 am ET

Obama was correct to back away from the naive comments about Jerusalem being a "Jewish capital". Tel Aviv was the capital of Israel. At best, East Jerusalem must be the capital of the Palestinian state.

Hispanics have now come around to support Barack Obama. We are now waiting to see what "Jews" will do. Will the majority of them in America continue not to support his candidacy or will they get onboard? One estimation is that they supported John Kerry and Bill Clinton at 80%. If the majority of them do not support Obama, is part of it because of racism dating back to the writings of their revered Rabbi Rashi?

Obama shall be the next president of the U.S.

Brenda   July 24th, 2008 11:32 am ET

The caption to the photo says 'McCain' visits the Western wall. What gives? [Laughter] Is McCain campaign grabbing headlines by any means? LOL

KMAN   July 24th, 2008 11:32 am ET

The fact that one man was heckling Obama at the Western Wall IS VERY SIGNIFICANT news … the problem with the story is that they failed to report that is was Senator Joe Lieberman!

Derrick in Houston   July 24th, 2008 11:31 am ET

Umm..CNN your doing sloppy work again. On the ticker under the picture it says McCain visits the Western Walls early Thurs…im sure you meant to say OBAMA

GET IT RIGHT

desertique   July 24th, 2008 11:31 am ET

This is the worst part of Obamas policy. His lack of understanding of Muslim needs in this area and his complete disregard for the Palestinian people.
His lies about the danger of Iran, there is no danger. And his fear of IAPAC.

dz in Austin   July 24th, 2008 11:31 am ET

There has obviously been a mistake. That person must have meant, "Isreal is not for sale……. but we'll just give it to you, the messiah!

Either that, or there are at least 2 of us who don't like Kool-aid.

It's not really big news that someone doens't like Obama. The big news is that CNN actually reported it.

James, AL   July 24th, 2008 11:31 am ET

If one heckler is the worst thing that happened in Israel, then Obama had a very good visit. It goes to show how well things are going when one heckler becomes a story.

Heidi   July 24th, 2008 11:30 am ET

I have been reading on some other sites about this event and reading the hateful remarks by some saying things like, Obama should have never gone there. As a Christian there is nothing that could keep me away from the western wall if I were in Israel. It is sad that someone had to interupt a spiritual moment between Obama, God and the place where his savior gave his life.

Matt   July 24th, 2008 11:29 am ET

I'm finished with CNN. They just attack the front runner to make campaigns more competitive so they can crank up ratings and sell more commercials ad space.

Jon Mikfarjam   July 24th, 2008 11:29 am ET

It seems disingenuous for CNN to write a story about the actions of a single protester. The front page blurb "Obama heckled at Western Wall" is further lacking in context.

Tell the Truth   July 24th, 2008 11:29 am ET

I know this comment is not related to this topic; But somebody needs to call McCain on the reason why he changed his mind on visiting the state of Louisiana today.

He said it's due to "bad weather", but it's really due to the "oil spill in the Mississippi River"

He does not want o be viewed near this diaster; because it will dim the light on off-shore drilling, but what Mccain has to understand; there are consequences to continue to use oil as our main form of energy; it's called "the destruction of our environment". He needs to stand up and be a man and tell the truth.

Hillary Backer for McCain   July 24th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Kudos to CNN for running a story not favorable to Obamamama . Now if the mainstream press will only report that Obama is not black but Arabic 43.75 percent, African american 6.25 percent, Caucasin 50 percent and maybe add a story about John Edwards getting busted in hotel with mistress and out of wedlock love child night before last. Or maybe list Obama's record of being ranked number one most liberal voting record in congress?. Or how every socialized/welfare country's economy tanks when converted? Or how Obama's big government , entitlement society and higher taxes plan will stifle economy. Of how Obama flipflops on his war position like a typical politician. No change here just same-o-run-of-the-mill polictics being sold to empty headed sheep.

Proof Reader   July 24th, 2008 11:24 am ET

The photo's caption reads "McCain visited the Western Wall early Thursday." Who does your proof reading?

Sharon, NY   July 24th, 2008 11:24 am ET

I hear it was only one person.

He did a good job, and the world knows that–we'll be happy to welcome him back home.

Obama 08

Joshua   July 24th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Correction:

Under photo it should say "Obama visited the Western Wall early Thursday." instead of "McCain visited the Western Wall early Thursday."

Bob from Richmond VA   July 24th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Obviously a Fox News reporter that wasn't allowed on the Obama plane.

Frank   July 24th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Israel has announced that they will build a new settlement on the West Bank at Maskiot. Why do we in the USA continue to support unconditionally a country that disregards agreements with us and the Palestinians? At least they did wait to announce the settlement until after Obama left, if that is a positive. Talk about "stick in the eye"…

Daryl Hussein, IL   July 24th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Now all the Republicans are going to say he is now Jewish and Muslim!

Tara   July 24th, 2008 11:24 am ET

He went there. Big deal. It's inspirational. Get over it, repubs.

Sam Holtzman   July 24th, 2008 11:23 am ET

He's wearing a skullcap! That makes him a Muslim, right? I can't wait to see the headlines.

Chris, MD   July 24th, 2008 11:23 am ET

What is it, then, Mr. Hussein?

Frank   July 24th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Wait, one man heckled Obama overseas, and this merits a front webpage headline on CNN? Get a grip.

Jim   July 24th, 2008 11:23 am ET

James Hussein, SC July 24th, 2008 11:05 am ET

Let's see quickly the neocons try to make this what it is not.

Agreed… In 5,4,3,2,1…

OBAMA/BAYH

Peggy - TX   July 24th, 2008 11:23 am ET

One heckler – no big deal! Obama handled it well.

Will in Richmond, VA   July 24th, 2008 11:23 am ET

See… it isn't the WHOLE world that wants him…

just 85, 90 percent of it.

Bob Stephens   July 24th, 2008 11:22 am ET

One Heckler and CNN puts this up as a big announcement…. Unreal!!!!!

Dan   July 24th, 2008 11:22 am ET

What is the bigger issue is why all American presidents need to make some many overly conciliatory overtures toward Isreal. Isreal is not an American state. Isrealis are not American. But you always see American Presidential butt kissing toward Isreal. That is a problem to me.

The problems that have been going on in that region of the world have been going on far too long. The only way there will be any solution is if both sides of the problem are held to an equally high standard.

Kiyomi   July 24th, 2008 11:22 am ET

Ha – the caption says "McCain visited the Western Wall early Thursday" – I guess the 2 candidates do have some resemblence? Easy mistake…

Concerned Citizen   July 24th, 2008 11:22 am ET

Your caption under the picture is incorrect, it says "McCain visited the Western Wall……". That doesn't look like McCain to me!

joann   July 24th, 2008 11:21 am ET

at least one person sees the forrest for the trees.

DEBBY, NJ   July 24th, 2008 11:21 am ET

Why is McShame's name listed on the "AP Photo"? Get it together CNN you are slipping. What ever negative you are trying to spin since Mcshame wants air time is not going to work.
BARACK THE VOTE

Erik on Wall St.   July 24th, 2008 11:21 am ET

Was the heckler Hillary Clinton?

linda n carolina   July 24th, 2008 11:21 am ET

ONE person heckled him…..LOL really desperate for a negative story aren't you.

Texas Voter   July 24th, 2008 11:21 am ET

Dems and Repub alike. Take a minute and feel the pride that you feel when you hear and see the history Sen. Obama is making in Overseas. It's an amazing feeling! It is a feeling that many Americans have not experienced in over 8 years.

Regardless of who you are voting for you have to admit, Sen Obama is bring back the pride we Americans had lost. Starting with Pres. Bush's failure to respond appropriately to the 9/11 attacks and defend the U.S. honor. Also to the international shame we are suffering via our failing economy and other countries buying out our businesses.

So you PUMA's and others Republicans who refuse to vote for Sen. Obama, you must admit that Sen. Obama's run for the Presidency has stirred your emotions enough to get voters involved. So in my book, Sen. Obama has won just by getting the American voters to care about their pride and to stand-up for their principles. So if Sen. McCain wins the Presidency, Sen Obama has set the bar so high that Americans are expecting only to succeed and no longer numbing their feelings out of shame.

Dee, North Carolina   July 24th, 2008 11:20 am ET

1 out of thousands. There is always one fool in every crowd!! This was not even news worthy. Come on is that all you can come up with CNN to try and balance the scales between a great candidate (Obama) and a desperate candidate (McCain)??

Proofreader McGee   July 24th, 2008 11:20 am ET

Check the caption under this photo – McCain's looking a lot more handsome and smart in this photo than I've ever seen him looking. CNN, are you sure that it is McCain at the Wailing Wall?

Michael   July 24th, 2008 11:20 am ET

Obama is abysmally ignorance of the entire region. Very scary. Jimmy Carter all over again–"I trust Arafat." "Gee, I'm surprised the Russians invaded Afghanistan." What a colossal joke. Geraldine Ferraro was right. If he were not black, he would be a back row Senator for the next two decades.

Jeff, Dallas TX   July 24th, 2008 11:20 am ET

What they didn't mention was that the heckler was Lieberman…

MW in California   July 24th, 2008 11:20 am ET

The photo caption says McCain!

Progressive   July 24th, 2008 11:20 am ET

In sarcastic voice – Yeah, that's surely the way to treat the next POTUS.

That kind of behavior is completely disrespectful, and probably coming from a man who knows nothing about Obama, except for what he's heard from naysayers.

I agree with you James Hussein, SC   July 24th, 2008 11:20 am ET

Just wait for it they are probably typing just as fast as I am now. LOL

Terry   July 24th, 2008 11:20 am ET

Just one idiot who tried to get some attention. That's all.

the caption under obama's picture reads: "McCain visited the Western Wall early Thursday." c'mon cnn, stop being so sloppy!

Janey/Michigan   July 24th, 2008 11:19 am ET

I'll bet that heckler got even worse thug treatment than Bill O'reilly when he tried to challenge the Messiah.

Ashish   July 24th, 2008 11:19 am ET

I think you guys have the wrong caption for the Obama pic. It says Mccain visited western hall instead of Obama

ke   July 24th, 2008 11:19 am ET

that photo says mccain..

DemsUnite   July 24th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Daniel, WA   July 24th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Welcome to Middle East. Barack has no knowledge of Middle East Politics. it shows his inexperience. Nobody can believe him because what he says today and what he would say tomorrow will have upto 180 degrees turn. This is because he does not mean what he says. He wants to please everybody and score points. Barack will be a total disaster for our nation. Beware. Time will come you will remember my words. I am not sure if CNN will publish this because CNN has deleted my messages several times in the past. CNn does not want the truth to be known.

Barbara Goodsitt   July 24th, 2008 11:19 am ET

The caption on the picture says McCain visited the Wailing Wall early thursday. Typo or intentional mistake? Come on. It is Obama in the photo. Please be accurate and impartial.

Kathy   July 24th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Hey James,
Screw the neocons!

Brian   July 24th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Oh so now you're Jewish Obama? I thought you were Musl… I mean Christian. Which religion do the politics demand today? And yes James, this is what it is.

Kathy in Michigan   July 24th, 2008 11:18 am ET

goes to show ignorance and disrespect for God comes in all shapes, sizes, colors and unfortunately is in all places. Pray for the guy…..

Dan - Ohio   July 24th, 2008 11:18 am ET

Neocons can only win by exploiting Obama's middle name and trying to make people think he's some sort of Manchurian candidate. John McCain has been doing this — saying stuff like "Oh, Obama gives good speeches, but we don't really KNOW who he is".

Well, he is what he is. And Obama is as good as he appears. His judgment and his character are fitting for a president in a time when this country is annoyed with stubborn and wrong leadership. We need real leadership, both at home and abroad. Obama is far and away the right choice in this election.

GB   July 24th, 2008 11:18 am ET

Or let's see how quickly Obama supporters brush it under the rug.

Arkansas Undertaker   July 24th, 2008 11:18 am ET

Megan O. Toronto, ON, Canada   July 24th, 2008 11:17 am ET

OBAMA Supporter all the way   July 24th, 2008 11:17 am ET

I think someone should fix the caption. It's not Mc Cain in the picture

Anonymous   July 24th, 2008 11:17 am ET

The picture of Obama accompanying the story is titled, "McCain visited the Western Wall early Thursday." Are CNN employees really that clueless?

webster208   July 24th, 2008 11:17 am ET

I am sure the Obama camp will be coming out with a statement that the heckler was a racist. That's their explanation to every criticism of Obama.

Gary of El Centro, Ca   July 24th, 2008 11:17 am ET

The contrast between Obama's current trip overseas and McCain's last trip over there is astounding. McCain roamed around thumping his chest, patting himself on the back, and getting his facts wrong (thank goodness Joe was there to whisper in his ear and straighten him out periodically). In short, he did nothing to advance America's standing in the world. Obama is showing us and the world what he means by restoring America's reputation and leadership in the world. He handles himself well on the world stage and I believe this trip will serve to begin a new age of diplomacy and understanding in the world. Obama is the right guy, in the right place, at the right time. His brand of leadership is exactly what is needed at this stage in history.

Ian   July 24th, 2008 11:17 am ET

They want him to re-confirm his position? They know he's a politician, right?

Bob Indianapolis, IN   July 24th, 2008 11:17 am ET

Oy, somebody needs to read William Blake's "A New Jerusalem".

Samuel   July 24th, 2008 11:16 am ET

McCain did not visit the Western Wall early thursday. It was Obama. Yep…… it was Obama.

Ricky - Hispanic/Educated and voting for Obama   July 24th, 2008 11:16 am ET

OK so one man heckled him. That one man is not important. What is important are the tens of millions who will be voting for Obama in November.

Susie McCain   July 24th, 2008 11:16 am ET

I smell trouble.

Obama-Junkie, IL   July 24th, 2008 11:16 am ET

That's funny. CNN reports on one heckler in Jerusalem while McCain held a town hall meeting yesterday with seating capacity for 1600 folks and there were still a reported 1000 seats empty.

Scott L   July 24th, 2008 11:16 am ET

Obama will get crushed in November. Good luck Dems!

Angus McDugan   July 24th, 2008 11:15 am ET

Let's see who will spout the racist label first?

Independent   July 24th, 2008 11:15 am ET

I don’t understand why Israelis are yelling at our leader. They get our unconditional support whether they do things right or wrong. Because of them we have bitter relationship with Muslim world and other western countries. They also get our billions of dollar of aid (arms and finance). We get nothing in return. What else they want from us?

Carl from MI   July 24th, 2008 11:15 am ET

"Jerusalem is not for sale"? Was Obama planning on buying up property there? Maybe this guy confused Obama with Donald Trump?

If he was trying to address the issue of SHARING or DIVIDING the city between Palestinians and Israelis… then Obama's not the guy to vent his complaints to. His own gov't needs to get off their butts and work out a win-win solution. If they can't even do that.. then maybe they should build a wall down the middle until they can all grow up and learn to compromise.

Substance not Rhetoric   July 24th, 2008 11:15 am ET

McCain totally redefines what the surge is…Nothing
McCain cancels oil rig visit in the midst of his advocacy of off shore drilling because of weather but we all know it's because of a 12 mile oil spill and the french quarter smell like gasoline…Nothing

ONE MAN heckles Obama out of thousands….Top of the ticker

And the whine about bias press converage.

Wayne   July 24th, 2008 11:14 am ET

So one person heckling Obama is the story and not him going to the Wall?

How about you use header like: "Obama payed respect at the holy land"

ah, CNN

William, from Cali!   July 24th, 2008 11:14 am ET

If you don't "stand" for something; you will "fall" for anything. You can't satisfy "everybody" all of the time, that's not reality!

Voting Obama   July 24th, 2008 11:14 am ET

I love Obama…. No matter what people say, especially those who find the most dumbest things to say about him(just because they are butt hurt), he still stays so humble. He is a true and real person and I respect him. GOD bless you Obama and your family!!

American   July 24th, 2008 11:13 am ET

Wow…Obama is in a city of MILLIONS…and ONE person disagrees with him. What great newsbreaking work CNN! Bet there was a lot of investigative reporting on that one. Come on…there must be more news than this. Now all the REPUGS will come out of the gutter for this story….and by the way, correct your caption under the photo.

richard   July 24th, 2008 11:13 am ET

why is CNN always a day late with news?

It's Time   July 24th, 2008 11:12 am ET

Why does one heckler out of a country of millions get a news story? Oh, I know…because the media is trying SO hard to find something negative to write about Obama's hugely successful tour across Europe and the Middle East. Who cares? Obama is not trying to sell Jerusalem, and those of us with even half a brain know that.

Danny G. Boca Raton, FL   July 24th, 2008 11:12 am ET

I feel un-easy about Obama speaking like this abroad, that responsibility should fall upon the president, if president bush has not endorsed the trip in this manner I feel is disrespectful. I don't care much for president bush, but he is still president until January 2009. I believe it sets a bad presedent for others to talk on behalf of America regardless of whom its president is. I respect his strategy and I believe it may ultimately work. Good luck Sen. Obama.

Jimmy in NYC   July 24th, 2008 11:12 am ET

Yep, there are nitwits in every section of the globe. He was probably sent by one of McCain's staff!

Phil-Little Rock   July 24th, 2008 11:12 am ET

If the problem could have been fixed before, Shmuel, it would have been. Don't blame Obama for your own country's failures. Stop picking on Palestine and then running to the U.S. for help when they come to kick your butts.

Linda   July 24th, 2008 11:11 am ET

Obama,
America is not for sale either! You can have everything in the world except my vote!

Diing in Washington   July 24th, 2008 11:11 am ET

"McCain visited the Western Wall early Thursday" Courtesy of AP ignores by CNN. Hilarious!

GoldieLocks   July 24th, 2008 11:11 am ET

Okay, that's not McCain in the picture. Get the caption right CNN.

McCain eh?

J.C.   July 24th, 2008 11:10 am ET

How can we succeed in Middle East if we keep on ignoring the needs of everybody except for Israel? Only justice will make long-lasting peace.

eric   July 24th, 2008 11:09 am ET

There's always some nut in the crowd. The heckler would have been more appropriate for McCain who's wife might actually try to buy Jerusalem.

Griff   July 24th, 2008 11:09 am ET

When you have seen and studied, where this guy came from, like I have. There is not one word comes out of his mouth, that is not a lie..

Obama flip flop? Say it ain't so.

The current sub title for the picture is incorrect. It should read "Obama visited the Western Wall early Thursday.".

Anonymous   July 24th, 2008 11:06 am ET

why does it say "McCain visited the wall early Thursday" under the picture of Obama?

Mary   July 24th, 2008 11:06 am ET

It just seems to be that the Media has more positive things to say about Obama then John McCain, I think the Media is a trying to persuade the public to lean toward Obama, they are trader to our country for shore,

Wow. One wingnut criticizes Obama and CNN covers it as if it were a story. And this time the wingnut isn't even McCain.

Phil, FL   July 24th, 2008 11:03 am ET

I think the heckler wanted Obama to bring that message back to our current administration that HAS sold our country to the lowest bidder.

It's time for Obama and others to get our jobs back, take our good name back, and just generally scrub the White House really good to get rid of the stench.

Kiah   July 24th, 2008 11:02 am ET

They heckle him in American so it's no surprise it happens overseas.
