Poll: 'Sharp reversal' for Obama with Latino voters

A new poll out Thursday shows strong support for Sen. Barack Obama among Latinos.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - A new poll released Thursday shows overwhelming support from Latinos for Sen. Barack Obama over Sen. John McCain.

Obama's approval rating with registered Latino voters, the nationwide Pew Hispanic Center poll found, is at 66 percent versus 23 percent favoring McCain.

Obama's "strong showing in this survey represents a sharp reversal in his fortunes from the primaries, when Obama lost the Latino vote to Hillary Clinton by a margin of nearly 2-to-1," according to Pew Hispanic Center associate director Mark Hugo Lopez.

Obama's favorability among Latinos is slightly up from a Gallup Poll summary of surveys taken in May, which showed Obama with 62 percent of Latino voters nationwide, compared with 29 percent for McCain.

"He now appears to be even more popular than Hillary Clinton among Latinos," Lopez said.

The Latino vote should be respected. Lations pay attention to the issues and they make very educated voting decisions. I feel the Lation communiy is the strongs in the U.S. and we should look for leadership from them in the future.

Maybe because they figured out that McCain voted against his own immigration bill, and essentially voted AGAINST them?

    Hello, American Mates!

I really don't understand why there's too much hatred up there in USA. Dan from Kitchener is right. We are looking from outbounds and we are expecting you to recover the respect you used to have. You have yourselves into a mess, you need to do house-cleaning. You should not afford doing more mistakes, you got more or less than eight years with a (excuse me if I offend anyone) moron of a president. You can't award what has not been deserved. We, the world, are sitting back and watching you. Remember that you are part of the world as well.

They just figure 'Hillary, Obama, ANYBODY but a Republican'..........or Felipe Calderon, doesn't that name sound like a drug kingpin from one of those old Miami Vice shows?

I say, when Obama gets into office, line the illegals up and send them to Iraq!! They love to kill, right? Send 'em all over there and give them full rights to kill all the Iraqi insurgents. Then tell them to keep what's left and start their own Mexico all over again.............

As a newly registered INDEPENDENT voter, formerly a Democrat, I am urging all intelligent Americans to voice their protest over both parties' LOSER candidates, and WRITE IN HILLARY CLINTON!!!!!!
She is the only candidate with enough courage, intelligence, experience and work ethic to accomplish the work that needs to be done on America's problems.

Hillary is still the self serving, narcissistic liar she's always been. She now expects someone else to pay the huge campaign debt she continued to build even when it was clear she'd lost.
Now someone else is expected to pay her debt just as Bill allowed supporters to pay legal fees when unabashedly comitted the crime. .

Nightingale: Actually, the majority of people voting for Obama are the higher educated. I have seen far more people that support McCain mis-spelling lose. White trash? You are the one drawing similarities between Obama and Osama? That is true ignorance. If you are going to give a spelling lesson, better make sure you can spell.

Obama is for Amnesty. Obama is for bringing in 400,000 guest workers every year. Obama is a globalist. Why would he not get the majority of Latino support?
