Poll: 'Sharp reversal' for Obama with Latino voters

A new poll out Thursday shows strong support for Sen. Barack Obama among Latinos.
A new poll out Thursday shows strong support for Sen. Barack Obama among Latinos.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - A new poll released Thursday shows overwhelming support from Latinos for Sen. Barack Obama over Sen. John McCain.

Obama's approval rating with registered Latino voters, the nationwide Pew Hispanic Center poll found, is at 66 percent versus 23 percent favoring McCain.

Obama's "strong showing in this survey represents a sharp reversal in his fortunes from the primaries, when Obama lost the Latino vote to Hillary Clinton by a margin of nearly 2-to-1," according to Pew Hispanic Center associate director Mark Hugo Lopez.

Obama's favorability among Latinos is slightly up from a Gallup Poll summary of surveys taken in May, which showed Obama with 62 percent of Latino voters nationwide, compared with 29 percent for McCain.

"He now appears to be even more popular than Hillary Clinton among Latinos," Lopez said.

I understand your thinking. It would be so much easier to just put Bush in office another term. Why change anything, its just great!

Apparently some people don't like how things are going, what ever there ethnicity and can only "hope and pray" that whoever gets in there doesn't wreck the country like the current administration has.

What were you thinking when you voted for Bush the second term?

Sure, how many of those polled have illegal relatives living in the States and would benefit from Obama's left wing welfare programs? Better start re-fortifying the Alamo. Santa Anna's part will be played by Obama. In the end we'll drive those illegals out and raise the American flag proudly over the landscape of the Southwest once again. Just so no to speaking Spanish.

the repugs lost the latino vote the minute they started their "we hate mexicans" routine. they thought that they could capitalize on xenophobia and race-baiting. latinos will remember that and reject rethugs and mcbomb.

Obama experience will get US ahead again in the world.
He is the man for the job; the best one. you get experience by doing a job with this say neither McCain or Obama have been president before so none of them have that experience. This nonsense that Obama has no experience need to stop because Mccain has none as well. United States of America for Barack Obama

    Reversal?

Those have been the numbers for weeks now. CNN is trying to pull some sort of expectations ploy. They report this as if McCain once had the Latinos in his corner. Pay attention, folks.

This speaks straight to what Clinton claimed when she was running – that Obama would not be able to capture the votes of various demographics. Obviously she and her supporters were wrong again.

What did George McBush say? "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." —Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

Well that's what the Latino's are saying to a third Bush term, except they are saying it coherently and forcefully: YOU WILL NOT USE LIES TO GET US TO VOTE FOR YOU AGAIN. OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS ARE BEING KILLED IN THE SAME PROPORTION AS AFRICAN AMERICANS IN THAT USELESS IRAQ WAR THAT YOU LIED TO US ABOUT AND WE WILL USE OUR VOICE AND OUR VOTE TO REPLACE YOU WITH SENATOR OBAMA.

Let's hold the binding roll call vote for Hillary Clinton at the Democratic Convention, She's still in it. Only 165 super delegates have to vote for her to become the Democratic nominee. That's why the DNC is trying to shut her out. Obama has not won it.

Senator Clinton is the only candidate who can defeat McCain in the general election and the only candidate with the skills to get our country back on it's feet and on a path to peace and prosperity.

Obama is phoney , arrogant, pretender "selected" by a corrupt DNC and propped up with a biased media and big money . Think the movie "Wag the Dog." We can't afford this disastrous experiment with the lives of the American people.

Just Say No Deal. No Obama. PUMA!

Latinos aren't stupid. They've talked to their brothers and sisters in Arizona, McCain is the Senator from Arizona, and have confirmed that he has done nothing when Latinos were herded up like cattle, jailed, and bused back to Mexico and the hell with their families. Arizona gives Latinos warning, "don't come to Arizona if you don't want to be bused back to Mexico". McCain has never supported Latinos. FACT.

  24. Annoy the Media, say NO to Obama

I'll be honest, I know nothing about Obama. But as the saying goes " You know a person by the company they keep" or in this case if I can judge Obama by what his supporters post in these blogs, then my conclusion is that I want nothing to do with this group. It seems that posting venom and hatred directed towards non-Obama supporters is your only priority. Sorry not in my house.

No way this Latino or my family in Florida will ever support Obama.
