Isn't this the guy who was on CNN and couldn't name one difference between John McCain and George Bush? Very uncomfortable moment, I must say; more uncomfortable than Grampy McCain't being asked about birth control vs. Viagra drug coverage. I say, bring it on!

Arbusto Energy (sometimes referred to as Arbusto Oil)[1] was a petroleum and energy company formed in Midland, Texas, in 1977, by future US President George W. Bush and a group of investors which included Dorothy Bush, Lewis Lehrman, William Henry Draper III, Bill Gammell, and James R. Bath. The company's chief financial officer was K. Michael Conaway, now a United States Congressman from Texas.

It was later revealed that Bath made an investment of $50,000 while representing Salem bin Laden of the Saudi Binladin Group. This fact became controversial after the September 11, 2001 attacks due to Salem bin Laden being an older, half-brother of Osama bin Laden, who planned and financed the attacks.

I thought people have been saying on both sides that the VP pick should be who the candidates trust, who they feel can run the country should the unthinkable happen, etc, not becuase they can potentially deliver a disputed state.

This article seems to suggest that in Portman, it would give McCain economic credentials. Why would he need someone else to give him that. Shouldn't he have that on his own?

Come CNN, just let the candidates pick their running mate and let it go.

Bad rock made a fool of himself in Germany yesterday. I heard the speech and it was awful. A lot of good feeling words but no substance.

He didn't talk about the price of gas and drilling for new oil. He didn't talk about NAFTA. He didn't talk about IRAN and the danger it gives the world. I didn't hear him address his increase in our taxes. He didn't mention his new "tax us" programs. I didn't hear him talking solutions for the poor people, he just pointed out there are poor people.

This is the fluff and cotton candy speaker. Hey candy man how are you today? Lots of sweetness but no substance.

Hello! Bad Rock we have had poor people from day one. My advice for them is to pull up their socks and go to work.

McCains VP choice may make the difference between who wins this election. A strong VP can get McCain the 4/5% he needs to win. This should be a runnaway for the Dems, why isn't it? Obama is a good speaker and nothing else. He reminds me of the Peter Principal at work.

You mean CNN actually is covering McCain? Oh I forgot it is ABC, CBS, and NBC who are following the political puppet on the presidential world tour. Too bad they are not interested in the real trust or at least interested in printing the real truth. Obama is like Clinton and will tell you whatever you want to hear for a vote.

I cannot believe that John McCain, a 70+ year old man, who has been actively involved in the US Gov - is crying like a little three year old - who cannot get his way. He has had a week to present to the American people he plans for addressing the economic issues that each American family is haveing to deal with. Instead he has wasted this time worrying about what Senator Obama has said.

I think that elected McCain as the next president of this country would lead Americans down the path of suffering.

The Bush Crime Family owns Old McDonald. I am getting sick of all the cheap lies, and insults by Repubs. They have nothing on Obama. He is clean and genuine. Repubs cant figure that out. REPUBLICANS DONT LOVE AMERICA, ONLY MONEY.
We would be in terrible shape here if McStupid wins. Exxon and Halliburton have moved cash and banking to Dubai. How PATRIOTIC? Those suckers dont care about us.

Obama is already serving our country by repairing globally all the damage caused by extended war and non-communication/no foreign relations. McCain is serving (??) our country by mocking Obama's very successful diplomatic trip - So, I take it that McCain is much more comfortable living in a world with war, no foreign relations, and the US isolated from the global economy. How backwards can you get????

The smart thing to do for John McCain is to pick a woman as his running mate.
That way, he has got a pretty good chance of picking up the dissaffected HRC voters and winning in November.

It will so sweet when McCain announced Mike Huckabee as his VP so all the talking heads will be wrong. Mike Huckabee is the only one who can deliver a victory for McCain. I just hope McCain is smart enough not to choose a Washington insider - he will lose if he does

That's odd, another Bush Administration Official working with McCain. I just don't see why everyone thinks McCain is the third term Bush. LOL I wonder if he will be as great a VP as Cheney. His entire job was and is to bring our tax dollars to his buddies in oil and Haliburton. What a joke this republican party has become.

All of this while McCain just attacks, attacks, and attacks more. You want to talk about an empty suit. McCain has offered no solutions for over a week now, he has just been a jealous attack dog. He has been boring and has had no real substance at all. He has complained he isn't getting fair media coverage but who wants to cover a grumpy old attack dog? Obama is a great patriot and scholar while McCain is a grumpy war monger. This has been proven this last week.

These McCain attack dogs who spout nothing but nonsense are the same people spreading those horrible Muslim lies about Obama. They know their only chance is to make up lies and hope enough idiots believe them.

Obama couldnt have even stepped foot in Iraq if it wasnt for McCain's surge, its too bad he is so lame to admit it. Europe doesnt elect our president, America does! McCain is making gains in the polls because Americans are bright enough to understand whats going on. Mr. "Hollywood liberal pleaser" needs to get off his high horse and deal with the common man. The rich in Hollywood arnt going to save us. McCain was correct then, and he is correct now! Go Vets for Freedom!

Why won't the press just give it up. Every time some one meets with McCain there has to be this guessing game and hypothetical analysis of what someone will or will not bring. McCain is stringing all of you alone. I can see him sitting with his team, laughing as they figure out who will next make an "unscheduled" visit as he campaigns in there district, state, or panders to their base. Here it goes: McCain's team: Gee who can we get to visit next that will drive this news cycle of empty speculation so we can get some free press to counter Obama"

Who cares about McCain's VP pick, with all of his gaffes, votes against women's rights, the viagara moment, mixing up countries, naming non existent countries and having the surge facts wrong, the only reason he is still close to Obama in the polls, is the fact that he is white, period. You make him president and your situation at home and standing in the world will be 100 times worse. America,it seems would much prefer to at their own peril, vote for this man with all of his faults and terrible policies instead of a good decent well educated black/white bi-racial man,it's kinda funny you guys only see his skin colour, what about his heart?.Why CNN is unwilling to point out each and every one of McCain's gaffes is quite bewildering to me,you have Obama under the microscope 24/7 and McCain goes merrily along looking lost and clueless in grocery store isles. Go Figure!! we all know your game.

Obama did make America shine this week.
That is why this life long republican mom of 3 will be voting for him this fall. He has earned my vote, with his ideas ands fresh ways of tackling issues besides running the best campaign in history.

Gee, he's appearing with Lance Armstrong. Does that mean Armstrong is on the short list? Seems like whoever one of the candidates meets with is automatically on the short list.
Actually, Portman makes sense. He has the economic creds to shore up McCain's shortcomings there, he has congressional experience and he could swing a major battleground state. Plus, he's neither too young nor too old. Given that he was an administration official, he probably plays well with the party insiders, too.

This is like asking someone to be Number 1 (U.S. equivalent to the Executive Officer) of the Titanic ... AFTER the ship has hit the iceberg.

Time for the Republicans to start re-arranging the deck chains.

Bob Portman as a VP pick for McCain means almost nothing to us in the Northeast part of the state. If the election isn't tainted by the republican's Senator Obama should run away with Ohio despite the efforts of CNN and the rest of the republican party shills in the media.
