Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.

LONDON (CNN) – It is no secret that Sen. Barack Obama’s whirlwind tour of the Middle East and Europe has left him, and everyone staffing and covering him, absolutely exhausted.

When asked how he was feeling the other day, he told reporters aboard his campaign plane that he was feeling a bit “sleepy.”

Earlier today, while meeting with Conservative Party Leader David Cameron, the pool camera microphone picked up some light banter between the two men about Obama’s current state of fatigue.

Cameron told the candidate, "You should be on the beach…you need a break. Well you need to be able to keep your head together."

Obama told Cameron he would try to take a week of in August. And he said he got advice from a Clinton White House veteran on how to handle the demands on his time.

Obama said, "Somebody who had worked in the White House who-not Clinton himself- but somebody who had been close to the process, said that should we be successful that actually the most important thing you need to do is to have big chunks of time during the day when all you're doing is thinking and the biggest mistake that a lot of these folks make is just feeling as if you have to be…"

Cameron interjected, "these guys just chalk your diary up."

Obama agreed, "right, exactly, in 15 minute increments"

Cameron told him, "We call it the dentist waiting room. You have to scrap that because you've got to have time."

Obama said not taking that break is when "you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture."

This all boils down to Nov 4th. Tween now and then, we will all get a clearer picture on who Obama and Mccain really are and not just the vague collection of thoughts meant to hook and land a voter. Let's keep our eyes open.

Barack Obama is truely what we need in the United States. I listen to what some of the Republicans have to say and its so self centered. They only think whats best for people like themselves. People who are rich and conservative. I see jealousy and no smarts about them. We need a President thats going to look after and help the average man. A person cannot be objective about a situation unless that person has experience the situation. The high gas prices, people losing their homes and no good jobs. Republicans blaming people and lenders for the foreclosure problem and forgetting that those same people have invested in paying taxes in this country. They need a return on their investment which is a good paying job in the United States, gas to get to work and enough of this Bush administartion that got us in this mess. Things will get more worse if we dont change the problem at hand. McCain is the same problem. Voting for McCain is voting for Bush. How crazy is that? Gos bless American and Barack Obama.

Any critics of Obama who have vainly been trying to portray Obama as unexperienced on foreign affairs and diplomacy should be ashamed of themselves. Obama's tour in Middle-East and Europe has proven the opposite. The truth ought to be said, recognized, and acknowledged. The truth is that the man (Obama) is a great leader, a leader loved and reverred worldwide, and a leader whose authority effects (impacts on) people in the world as if the distinct countries of the world have become the provinces the USA. The people of the world considers Obama not as the next president of the USA, but rather as their next president.

Witz   July 26th, 2008 8:52 pm ET

I could not be prouder of the super job Obama has done on his recent foreign trip. Yes, he deserves to catch his breath. But then he will continue to motivate, inspire and move this nation in the positive direction it so desperately needs. :)

Congratulations Barack.

to quote Fred C Dobbs: "The public is left with crap when you should be writing critical reports."

Critical reports? Have you even compared the two candidates, and what they're doing? McCain is having one screw up after another, Obama is playing it perfect. Even if I didn't agree with Obama's policies, which I do, I would never leave the country in the hands of a man stuck in the past and who's head clearly isn't 100% anymore.

Anonymous   July 26th, 2008 8:47 pm ET

I just had dinner with a neighbor who sadly voted for George Bush 2 times. You should listen to her today. The most ardent supporter of Barak Obama I've ever heard. Barak OBAMA the next president of these United States of America.
What an exciting clip it was to watch Obama in Berlin and in France. What a change to see thousands of europeans screaming for our next president Barak Obama.
We need change and we need it now. We need a president who can unify our country with the western nations again. We need a president who is not afraid to air his view points. We need a president who can say, I said we needed to be in Afganestan not Iraq, and we need to be in Afganestan now, with more troops, now, and we need to get out of Iraq as soon as possible.
We need a president, Barak Obama, who is educated, brilliant, articulate, and yet humorous and caring and a loving husband and father at the same time.
We need Barak OBAMA for President of these United STates of America.
Thank you.

I read the comments of the pro Obama crowd and wonder just how stupid are you people? Now I'm not saying McCain is a genius, but Obama has done virtually nothing in his political career! But the Obama cheer squad thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread. This guy is nothing but a puppet, a well trained puppet, of the far left wing goof balls. Obama will bring this country to it's knees by furthering the agenda of the far left, I dont care whe get's elected as long as it's not Obama the puppet! …….. Left wing Demoncrats suck !!!!

The only one hurling bricks, Fred, is McCain. he can't say one sentence without a jab at him, can't answer one question without Barack's name in the answer…if he would talk about HIMSELF and HIS ideas…oh. but wait, then no one would listen, because it's just more of the same. McCain promised to run a positive campaign. So far, the only positive is that he will trash Obama every chance he gets. Not a leader, in my opinion…just a whiny old man.

It seems silly people are asking for balanced coverage of McCain – Obama is on the make-or-break trip McCain dared him to take, visiting heads of state and speaking before six-digit crowds, while McCain is putting out false rumors he might announce a VP pick and golfing with Bush Sr. Which is more newsworthy?

bt   July 26th, 2008 8:25 pm ET

Obama needs to come home, get him some rest and regroup..He has done a fanastic job in his travels and has all the respect of the World…its the cronies here in America who are so f/u in the mind..they are so use to b/s that they don't recognize the real deal…to bad we can't dump them all in the river..in the mean time, I don't understand why Obama would want such a job as Pres of these US..especially following some one like Bush…and not only to have to try and put everything back in place, which he can do….but to have to deal with the racist americans..OMG

Dr.Schultz   July 26th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

Hello CNN (that is OBAMA NEWS NETWORK ), your frenzy all about Barack Hussein Obama is unbeleivable. Your stories really suck. He goes around on tax payers' money and he wants Lord to protect HIS FAMILY AND HIM – not a word about the NATION or American Peoples. How self – centered he is! Does any one know WHO HE IS??? Coming to "Black in America", you conveniently left out the RICHEST woman in America OPERAH, richest and suceesful sportsmen like WOODS, JORDAN, successful black rock stars etc. and moreover one of your Blacks is almost inaugerated as the PRESIDENT by the crazy media. So, what is the need for your docommentary NOW? Trying to dump McCain – like you ,merciless media dumped HILLARY??

He'll have a chance to rest. The Olympics are coming up, and that'll be the news media's focus.

To all the people complaining about the media's coverage of Obama while ignoring McCain, the media has always loved McCain. They had a barbecue at his house the weekend after he clinched the nomination. But he had a chance to grab media attention while the Democratic nomination was going on. What'd he do? Nada. He could've swiped coverage from Obama during this world tour. Did he do that? Nope. If he's losing the media coverage battle, it's only because he pooched it.

But, you know, keep pretending it's a conspiracy or something until the men in white coats come to take you away. It really says a lot to how well you're paying attention.

Obviously the media has forgotten the real americans who are tired and take vacations, unlike jerks like obama who work all the time and make a big deal about taking a vacation.

I'm glad that CNN chose to report on this so it didn't get buried.

Jennifer from Atlanta   July 26th, 2008 8:08 pm ET

Obama's been goping nonstop since last year! He went straight from the primaries into the general election mode without a real break. Then you have McCain who takes every weekend off. It would be nice to have a president who WORKS HARD for the American people as opposed to someone rolling around in a golf cart or wandering through chesse aisles all the time.

Slash   July 26th, 2008 8:07 pm ET

Obama could spend the next several months at the beach and he'd still win in a landslide. McCain is kicking his own butt more than enough for Barack to take a well-earned break.

I'm happy Obama is working so hard during this campaign. He has worked harder in the last 6 months than this lazy moron in the White House has in 71/2 years!! His first 6 months in office were spent taking frequent trips to that little ranchett of his in Texas goofing off!

Lamine Sako   July 26th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

Why does CNN's Lou Dobbs hate Obama?

Ron Allen   July 26th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

Republicans are complaining about a slanted press toward Obama or is the press doing what they do, go after the most popular story? The European press who preceded the American press didn't promote Obama. It's the American press the Republicans are talking about. But the Germans have a real interest in the guy demonstrating that interest to the tune of 200,000 which is more than Reagan or Kennedy when they talked to the Germans as presidents. 83% of the Japanese and 70% of Australians follow the American presidential campaign because Obama is a flashpoint and interesting to the world. The press coverage isn't igniting this interest. The appearance and demeanor of Obama is. I don't know if he will make it to the Presidency. I'm uncertain as to what is good for the nation. What seems clear to me is that international interest in Obama is genuine and seems not to be predicated on the press.

Scott, West Chester OH   July 26th, 2008 7:58 pm ET

A day at the beach will make Obama an expert in oceanography, just like a week abroad made him an expert in foreign policy. How do you spell UNQUALIFIED? O-B-A-M-A.

It's my turn to complain.
Not about Obama or McCain, both good men, but about the awareness level of some of our voters. All one has to do to gage the number of closed-minded people is read some of the negative comments here. It seems some only know the bumper stickers and one-liners. From that, they decide the future of our country. The voters scare me more than the candidates. Obama has a lot to offer. Open up and try to find out why he's creating such a stir. It's not just fancy speeches.

Don't worry Fredd McCain will get more (negative) press the next time he votes AGAINST better Veteran's health care – which seems to be the only time he votes at all!

Over the span of only a few days time

It’s time for Obama to be President of the States
And change the politics of usual shady deals
Rampant in Washington in the recent time
That turns away too many from active partaking

Don Colony14Author, Peruibe, Brasil   July 26th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

This is news? What a suck-up puff piece! The media continues to run stories like this, and then has the nerve to say it is "objective." What nonsense! Earlier today one CNN anchor (I believe it was Colleen McEdwards) noted that Obama had visited eight countries in eight days, and then felt obligated to add, "Incredible!" Well, maybe it was a tough job for the pilots and the security staff, but I doubt the wonder-boy carried his own luggage. (He probably didn't even pick out his own neckties… leaving that for a staffer and a focus group.)

I know you folks in the news are drooling at the thought of putting the most liberal (if not socialist) candidate in history into the White House, but could you at least stop drooling on Obama directly? it's starting to look pretty pathetic – and don't be surprised if it ends up working against him. (I'm thinking of selling bumper stickers that read, "Annoy the media, vote for McCain!")

Of course, we conservatives (left without a candidate at all) will have the last laugh, after Obama screws things up so badly that he will become the most hated President in history, prompting the election of a conservative Congress in 2010. At that point, the media will have even more sour faces than they had when Bush beat Gore and Kerry.

Laura   July 26th, 2008 7:43 pm ET

Jeepers, leave the poor dude alone! He's just trying to find his way like everyone else. He's no hero, he's no saint, he's no demon, he's no fool. Everybody wants to make him one or the other, and the truth is, he's neither. He suffers from the same insecurities and fears all of us suffer. The difference is, he's willing to admit it, and willing to listen and learn. That by itself is a stellar trait, and almost non-existent in politicians. I think he's the best candidate for president we're ever likely to see in this generation, and it's time to get real and quit doing this drug trip thing we're doing!

Brian G Iwakiri   July 26th, 2008 7:36 pm ET

Fred, what hard hitting bricks should they be throwing at Obama right now?

It was John McCain who capitulated on Time "Horizons" and co-opted Obama's position on Afghanistan.

McCain continually made the mistake of confusing Shi'ite Iranians for Al-Qaeda operatives.

McCains CHIEF ECONOMIC ADVISOR (the man responsible for filling in the huge gaps in McCain's knowledge of the economy) believes that the current financial troubles that Americans are having is nothing more than a figment of our imagination.

You reap what you sew. John McCain sold-out to GW in '04 and hired all the people responsible for lambasting him in 2000. If he had remained the voice of Independence and not reversed on a number of issues people would still respect the man. As is, John McCain is just another casualty of GW's administration…a sad reminder of what the Republican Party can do to a good soldier.

Get real people   July 26th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

I've said it over and over again and I will say it one more time. Obama's lead in the polls doesn't look so impressive given how much the dems have blamed the repubs for being screw ups. His lead should be more than 20 points now and it isn't. There are still a lot of people not buying Obama's story and I think it's going to be closer in November than people think.

Former US Soldier   July 26th, 2008 7:24 pm ET

I am sorry but Obama is starting to look like a serious wanna-be,

First it was the presidential seal of presumption, now he looks like a severe rookie next to President Hamid Karzai and Iraqi prime minister Nuri al-Maliki, and he looks like a little boy sitting in the helicopter on next to General David Petraeus.

He is personable and likable, but if elected this kid will get chewed up on the international scene.

The American people have great intuition in this things, that why there is no poll bounce here. He should have stayed home, in the more civilized softer environment he looks fine. (like Europe)

Obviously we know John McCain has been tested in the severe environment that is found in many nations we have to engage. It does get any tougher than being tortured by them. I think we need to consider that Europe is not Iraq, or China, or Iran. While it is important to engage our allies, we need to be able to deal with those countries who are more of the rough and tumble sort.

I don't think that calling McCain 'McWar' as some have really cuts it. Does anyone really think that someone who was a POW for 6 years is really all about war. Let me tell you the difference between President Bush and John McCain, since everyone wants to know what it is. When it comes to commander in chief John McCain actually knows what he is doing. John McCain was an actual soldier who saw combat. Mr. Bush was a periodic Air National Guard wanna-be.

When it comes to being Commander in Chief it is OBAMA that is like President Bush, a military wanna-be sitting in a chopper with General Petraeus just trying to look like he knows what he is doing.

Just to let you all know who are harping on the economy, if our enemies have their way with us, we won't have any economy to worry about fixing. Think about it.

Independents, for example, I basically don't care about them because they are Independents. So, whatever my boy brings with that, that's cool(to tell you the truth, I think most Independents like Senator McCain because……..well, you know, LOL!!). I'm not gonna lie but I think Independents like McCain better than my boy because like some people say, my boy wants to have "parties", LOL!!! Congrats! Obama. You made us all proud to be Americans! Now we can see clearly what is needed. The choice is between a man who is clearly unstable and thus, unfit to serve as president… and you… a textbook example of leadership. Thanks!

Fred, go home to Fox and watch your own brand of crap. There's some great video of your guy's majestic campaign activities this week – talking to two people in a grocery store and knocking over a bunch of cans in the process, riding around with W's daddy trying unsuccessfully to look younger than somebody, talking about Czechoslovakia to show off his deep understanding of foreign policy, eating German sausages and whining that he would only make a speech in Germany as PRESIDENT not a candidate. But nobody would turn out to hear him either way.

Ok guys watch this: The McCain campaign criticizes Obama for beginning to put in place a transitional team and accuse him of being presumptuous.

Now when McCain is asked about this issue he says the elections are close and so its only okay for any party looking forward to taking over the reigns of Government to begin to prepare for it.

Another one, McCain was asked in 2007 what he would do if a sovereign Iraqi Government asks the United states to leave Iraq and this is what he said: That the United states would leave if they are asked to do so.

Fast forward to friday July 25 2008 when Wolf Blitzer asked McCain the same question and draws his attention to recent indications by the Maliki administration that they are in favour of a time table for the US withdrawal from Iraq and what did McCain do.

He sidesteps the question and calls Maliki a typical politician who is just saying so because Iraqi elections are near.

When he was pressed further he came around and said the would work with a "time horizon" but it should be based on conditions.

folks are you beginning to see the contradictions in the McCain campaign?Just attacking for the sake of it.

John McCain is accusing Obama for travelling abroad to address world leaders.Meanwhile McCain undertook a similar tour to Mexico,Colombia,Canada, Iraq, Afghanistan and the UK.

Are you seeing the double standards in the MaCain Campaign and the mix message?

Hey CNN…if I've already said this then make it show up on the blog!!!

All you so called Democrats who say you won't vote for Obama had better be prepared to explain why you won't vote for a black man for president. All you Independents who say you won't vote for Obama had better look at the last seven and a half years under George W. Bush and decide if you want four more years of this, and be prepared to explain why you won't vote for a black man for president.. All you Republicans who say you will hold your nose and vote for McCain had better decide if you are better off today than you were seven years ago, and be prepared to explain why you won't vote for a black man for president.

Bottom line – of the candidates who will be on the ballot in November, this white middle-aged, southern, retired military man thinks that Obama is the best one to lead this country back to where we were prior to Newt Gingrich and George W. Bush. This isn't about party or race: this is about the country and it's citizens.

Calling CNN a suck up. But they posted McCain's attacks all week. Is that what we want a President that has NO humility, respect, nor honor for his opponent . There should have been no attacks while Obama was abroad, But Mccain couldn't even stay on message because it was attack… SURGE, SURGE, SURGE, SURGE.. Just a realistic question? Are we at war with Iraq? or are we occupying Iraq? the Iraq military has been disarmed for years but we call this a war.. Tribal conflicts and AlQaida stirring the pot does not add up to a war. Those are facts. 150,000 plus troops. Billions of American dollars gone for what? We should have left when they captured Saddam and went to get Bin Laden. McCain has missed managed this entire week as well as his campaign. He does not deserve to be President even if he is a Hero. Judgment counts totally McCain. He seems war hungry more then anyone. So bash bash and Surge Surge. Americans are paying attention. The World is paying attention. Respect needs to be earned not forced. CNN keep reporting if it is good or bad for either Candidate. The voters will figure it out.

A Latte Lover, Seattle, WA   July 26th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

It's jet lag Senator Obama, beyond that, you have been going non-stop on the campaign trail without a break. We are all anxiously awaiting your return. McCain has made this campaign all about the SURGE SURGE SURGE, more SURGE, and did I mention the SURGE….SURGE SURGE SURGE SURGE SURGE. Yes, Iraq is important, but I think the top issue is the ECONOMY. I know it is with me! I think all McCain knows about (well sort of) is the SURGE….

If you want to go to one of the most beautiful beaches in the US, IMO, the world, Senator, go to Destin, FL….Before someone decides they should drill there! You won't regret it!

Europe has made a clear statement to the world. " obama is the new deal for the much needed american and EU corperation" now Americans can take the opportunity and make the much needed repairs as the country keeps going down the drain with bush and his twin brother McCain whom I strongly respect.

Luke   July 26th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

Please take a look at the last several Ticker stories and explain how CNN is "hurling bricks" at McCain. Out of all the cable networks, I find CNN to be the most balanced. Fox News is full of rabid right-wingers. MSNBC is the 24-hour Obama Channel. CNN at least has some semblance of balance.

Nick from Syracuse   July 26th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

McCain is Bush Junior Junior – he wants to do everything Bush has been doing the past eight years. So that will probably include taking nice long vacations while Katrina victims are dying by the thousands.

Wake up McCain supporters, you're not voting for McCain you're voting for Bush's third term.

Garth   July 26th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

Obama has done more for the US in the "Fake World Tour Photo Op" as so stunningly put than Bush has done EVER. McCain would like to go to Europe, but no one really wants to talk to him, because he is just a different Bush.

Fake? I think Europe and most of the US want Obama because we are so tired of the cr** put out by Bush and McCain. We need this change more than ever. I think anyone who thinks they can survive 4 years of McCain is nuts. We need real leadership. If you think McCain is a leader then you have been brainwashed by the Bushies.

In fact. we need to do this if we want to remain a super power. We have GOT TO wipe out the stench of 8 years of the Bush regime.

Now come on home and debate McWhine. HE is the one who challenged you to go overseas and now all HE'S done is whine, whine, whine. I just want to know why some peopel find him more honest. If we can trust him, we can trust you.

I'm so tired of all the talk about Obama. He's not the only candidate in the race yet the media already sounds like he's our President. Shame on you CNN, Not everyone, despite your efforts, trusts this nut case. PLEASE, enough already. He doesn't represent anything I believe in and I will never respect him. President or not.

Brian   July 26th, 2008 6:34 pm ET

Are you people really commenting on this. Its not news.

A Presidential Candidate is tired? OF COURSE. He is traveling around America .. I mean Europe…I mean the Middle East…I mean, wait, where is Obama? Is he campaigning in America and talking to Americans about our needs, concerns, about the Economy? Was he in D.C. when folks were voting on what to do with Fannie and Freddy?
Nope. He thought pictures and a concert in Berlin was the best place for him to be.

I am aware our international image is not great. But do we really need to be sending out Presidential candidates to Europe. Wait like everyone else and go speak to the leaders when you become President.

Until then, get some sleep, drink coffee and go to work like every other regular joe working in America.

Penelope   July 26th, 2008 6:31 pm ET

Obama didn't do diddly-squat while in the Senate and now, because he wants to be president, he decides to go on a world tour and look like he's already president. This guy knows exactly how to get people to think he's the best thing since sliced bread. Too many people are too easily swayed by him. I'm predicting a lot of people will be very sorry in 2009 should he win. I don't like McCain either, but am looking at this as the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. All I know about Obama is he wants to make change – he has yet to let me know exactly what he's going to change and how he's going to do it. Flowery speeches don't impress me.

Bulldog   July 26th, 2008 6:30 pm ET

CNN and the rest of the media have constantly spread McCain attack messages against Obama for the last two weeks. You need to wake up. If you don't like it just watch FOX news. They have nothing bad to say about McCain and nothing good to say about Obama. That should float your boat.

At this point in the political election season, I'm watching this Week in Politics. To John King, Candy Crowly, and the rest of the politcal crew, I can't encourage enough to remember the role of a journalist. It is not to be equal, it is not to be bullied by the Republican complaints, it is to report what you hear and see….even if what you report is positive for Obama and….not so much for McCain. Your job is not to equalize, it is to render.

Good luck in getting out of the Republican groove and back to a sturdy self confidence ….you've got to report it as you see it.

And, to close, what's up with allowing the Republican spokespeople to rattle on, off subject, never responding to your actual questions?

Concerned Canadian   July 26th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

I would love Obama to visit Canada. He would be very welcomed by Canadians. America, I know you're not used to it but there's nothing wrong with an intelligent, charismatic, visionary leader that other world leaders would be excited to be able to work with. His visit overseas has affirmed this.
As much as your insular thinking likes to see yourselves as center of the universe, you do share this planet with many others and who you elect president has consequences across the globe. Other countries do not want to be dragged into the same sorts of messes President Bush created and would much prefer a thinking man be POTUS than an aging red necked war monger like McCain.
Imagine what you could have done to help your citizens with all that money you spent on the war. It's a disgrace.

Miranda Smith   July 26th, 2008 6:15 pm ET

I'd love to vote for Obama, however I'm afraid he's going to appoint the same incompetant Judges and FBI agents that have ruined New Orleans. Most appointed in the name of "racial justice", the rest we're owed a favor.

We do need change, and I really like Obama. However, like buying a car, I'd at least like a test drive. The problem is once he's elected the keys are in his pocket.

JERMAINE   July 26th, 2008 6:13 pm ET

I think CNN has been by far the most "fair and balanced" cablenews network. Republicans tend to think they are pro Mccain, why Dems think they are pro Obama. I think they have reported fairly on both canidates. In my opinion though, I think Obama has ran a much cleaner campain thus far. For Mccain to say Obama would rather lose a war to win a campain is a little off base. "It's remarkable!" as he would say over and over again. People get tired of that negative politics.

You forgot to include the most important part of the conversation:

Obama:"And the truth is that we've got a bunch of smart people, I think, who know ten times more than we do about the specifics of the topics. And so if what you're trying to do is micromanage and solve everything then you end up being a dilettante but you have to have enough knowledge to make good judgments about the choices that are presented
to you."

Fred, thanks for reminding us that the whole conservatives' victims culture is still here. "Bricks" at John McCain? The guy who doesn't know where Iraq is located in the Middle East (next to Pakistan, according to him) – if Obama had said that we'd be hearing about it 24/7. McCain the "i was against tax cuts for rich people before i wanted to make them permanent" – "i was against offshore drilling before I was for it" – "i was against waterboarding before i thought it was okay". Can you please play your pity party some more?

Can you imagine if Bush or McCain made a trip one fifth as good as Obama this week, how crazy the media would be?

For all the good feelings Obama got for America, Bush never did in 7.5 years, the media still criticizing Obama heavily. Crying media bias against McCain? What a joke?

Conservatives, wake up. You guys have chosen a loser, live with it. Do something good for the country! cheer for Obama.

Matt   July 26th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

Same old rock star image for Obama as when he was running against Hillary. Is the media going to determine the next president? I feel there is no unbiased news media in this country, all news media have their own opinion.

Obama has no solid track record we only have his words, his speeches, his sweet talk. He will make the world a better place. Please wake up people. Get someone who can do the job and not someone who only talks the talk (although it would be nice after 8 years of bushed speeches).
Should we give him the benifit of the doubt? Maybe if we want to gamble with our furture for the next 4 years. It is almost easier getting a job as a president of the USA then any other job for which experience is required. If you want to get a job you at least have to bring a resume that shows experience and accomplisments. Where are Obamas list accomplisments? Media please focus on this?? Lucky I see that CNN has an article that Obama incorrecly claims membership of a senate committee. Do you think if I would go to a job interview and claim I am a member of a certain committee and it turns out I am not they will still hire me???

But then again I have to admit sometimes people with a rockstar image and no real experience can do good, just think about Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger they did or are doing good. So I hope that when Obama is elected he will at least have their succes.

Try spending a few years as a POW…and he's tired from a trip to the Middle East? Pleeeeeease.

Jeff, Huntington Beach, CA   July 26th, 2008 5:51 pm ET

All you Obama haters should take a hard look at the current Commander and Chief as well as McCain, who is your hope for the future. You are dillusional if you believe Bush and McCain, both born with silver spoons, connected fathers, and advantage galore measure up to Obama, a self made, intellegent individual. When will you morons get the message that you along with a bunch of us unwilling souls have been taken and will again be taken for a ride by the true "elitest" of this country?

But seriously… your ideas would be pathetically funny if there was not so much more to lose.

Tara, Westmont, IL   July 26th, 2008 5:49 pm ET

We need a guy with the physical strength and stamina to work on the mess we are in. We need someone who understands that what grows in the fields half a world away actually has an impact on what arrives at our shores and is sold in our streets. The real challenge is in Afganistan.

Respecting the sacrifice of our troops doesn't mean feeding more into the meatgrinder. It means risking their lives as parsimoniously as possible. 100 years in Iraq, my derriere!

Atleast he's working so hard. McBush gets weekends off and leaves all the fundraising to the RNC and his wife's portfolio.

Barack the vote, '08!

Doris,Memphis,TN   July 26th, 2008 5:49 pm ET

America is so proud of Barack Hussein Obama!

Mark   July 26th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

Fred McCain deserves the bricks to be hurled at him… the guy has no clue what the people of this country want, nor any clue how to adapt, overcome, and change his views..he is and apparently always will be nothing but a statue in his beliefs, when in reality people can, must and do change…

McCain deserves all the criticism he has gotten, and will continue to warrent it, as long as he keeps his path as Bush the 3rd.

David, Atlanta, GA   July 26th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

David Cameron and Obama have a lot in common. Their both relatively young, and Cameron also became party leader despite being relatively inexperienced. They both rose to the top on change platforms. It will be interesting to see what sort of relationship they have if Cameron becomes British Prime Minister.

tom   July 26th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

Bravo for Barack for not visiting the wounded soldiers. He was absolutely correct it would have been a media circus and these heroes did not need to be drawn into a political contest. When he is President he'll visit them.

Mike in Baltimore   July 26th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

John McCain is tossing the bricks in the air and letting them hit him on the way down.

Example: When he was in the supermarket the other day, he was standing in front of cases of Dole canned fruit.

Example: Is McCain for or against Bush's proposed changes to immigration law?

Example: Is McCain for or against off-shore drilling for oil?

Example: Is McCain for or against a time line for withdrawing our troops from Iraq?

Example: Does McCain think we've let Osama bin Laden escape for too long? What plans does he have to capture him? Does he think the situation in Afghanistan is OK? Or do we need to send more troops there to help the people and leadership of the country? And how many more troops – two brigades? Three brigades? No more troops are needed there?

Example: Does McCain think we should follow the wishes of the ELECTED leadership of Iraq on troop withdrawal, or the UNelected Iraqi military commanders?

The public is left with crap when the news organizations should be reporting on McCain's FLIP FLOPs. Yes, this year, the F-L-I-P F-L-O-Ping is being done by the Republican candidate.

Flip-flop. Flip-flop. Flip-flop. Flip-flop. Flip-flop. Flip-flop. Flip-flop.

vicky   July 26th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Its too bad there is no control of the Internet as bloggers think they can say anything anonomously. What did you people do before you were able to blog? If it were not for the fact that you can hide your name many of you would be sued. There is so much vitriol on these blogs. McCain is angry because he wanted a free ride to Europe. He thought Obama needed him to hold his hand and show him around. This is from an eighty-year old white female who has been following the primaries since Hillary Clinton and Obama were the last two Democratic candidates left.

Denise Groves   July 26th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

I agree. he needs to come off the campaign trail and spend time with his wife and daughters. He is starting to age from the stress of it all.
God knows we don't need another dead man walking on the campaign trail!

Kevin   July 26th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

If you really take in consideration what he is saying, he is a very intelligent person. Thats what I like about him. Also, his ability to sustain himself from atacking McCain for the stupidness he stands for. Being able to not personally attack a politician these days is a mircle. Theres a difference between pointing out the facts and differences than saying Barack Obama would rather lose a war to win an election.

Aliou FL for Obama   July 26th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

Obama said not a bad word against McCrybaby during all this tour. Meanwhile, Mcabush questioned his patriotism.
What a mark of distinction!!!!!!!! This is a distinguished guy !!!! He belong to the best!!!
McSame has really disappointed every reasonable republican like my friend Tony.

Mc100 years war had made him ashamed this week. My friend Tony Kept saying that McCain will come up with some thing to remain relevant because he has the stage for himself while obama is away in the tour.

McComplains kept focussing on Obama and what a bad guy he was. My friend waited all week long to hear from McSame, nothing came. what a shame.!!!

There's just one campaign that is hurling bricks ,smirking at pitiful jokes, and posting sick ads! .Who was one of the first senators to visit Walter Reed in 2005 when it was revealed to the world that our soldiers were in a decrepit facility. Who, along with Claire McCaskill introduced a bill to improve conditions in VA hospitals and provide more support for disabled vets? Barack Obama!! Where was Mr. America – McCain, when the facilities were going down hill during all his years in the senate ! He was busy with his lobbyist pals at the Sedona ranch!

CNN,CBS,NBC & ABC are doing free advertisement for Obama & not for McCain. Let me tell you, people in America, specially in Florida knows who is better for America. Europeon & Middle east trip is not going to help him. See what happen in India(Ahmedabad). Muslim kills 29 peoples in bomb blast. If Obama is going to be soft with terrorist people, than we American are going with McCain. I am Clinton supporter. People of USA missed the chance to elect right person for white house. Now, only thing is left to compare to Obama & McCain. McCain is better.

Please Obama, do not come to Canada because I'm sure you couldn't even find us on the map. And oh, no mention of the contribution Canada has made to Afghanistan? Canad is in third place (after the U. S. and G.B.) in terms of the number of troops it's supplying. Germany and France are all talk and no action when it comes to doing any heavy lifting. I hope our Prime Minister decides to pull out of Afghanistan if you become President; just try to find the extra troops from the Germans and French who adore you so much.

Troy   July 26th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

No bounce in the polls Michelle? Apparently you have been watching a bit too much of FOXNEWS. Because according to EVERY major news network, Gallop and Rasmussen, Obama had a 2-4% national bump in the polls as a result of the Berlin speech.

Obama is an incredible man. He is brilliant and has shown the American people that he works HARD for the people. Obama has proven during his campaign that he is an energetic leader that will work 24-7 to make changes for our country's recovery. Obama reaches out to the leaders of the world that we should work as a Team to help solve the major problems of the world. He will not be afraid to make economic changes to help America get out of the economic disaster we are currently in now. Obama truly wants the job of President of the United States!

Paul   July 26th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Dear Michelle up above… Gallup and Rasmussen both have Obama bouncing up 3-4 pts from the trip. Have a change-tastic day.

Jane   July 26th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

California Gold   July 26th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

McCain wouldn't dare attempt a week like Obama put in. McCain went to a German restaurant and hosted a "boo hoo woe is me" pity party. Obama has vigor, youth, mental acuity, stamina, a true vision and direction for our country. Obama is the sort of leader people feel they can trust. Obama is the sort of leader people will support and follow. McCain would have to spend 5 days recovering from just the jet lag. And all McCain can say for his week of campaigning is he felt "a little left out".

But just ask yourself, who do I support? The folks in the rest of the world, or my own fellow Americans? I choose America's interest over the rest of the world. I will never support O-bambi and the rest of his anti-american supporters. I will vote for America, I will vote for John McCain, the only candidate left that will put America first. O-bambi wants to give this country away to his Africans and Europeans, this Hillary supporter will never vote with those that are out in the rest of the world helping O-bambi to give our country to them.

Obama's fact finding trip has been a great success that is obviously embittered and is denied by the McCain supporters. A fellow Willy, interpreted the comments of British Conservative Party Leader, David Cameron, of Obama's fatigue when reaching England as too literary "hit the beach." Obama has had a very packed tour in a week. You, Willy, try to accomplish all what he did in a week and still feel completely fresh!? Is that why McCain takes the weekends to rest or does he need more nap times? As far a the comment from Michelle: Your candidate McCain as presidential candidate went abroad and did not have half the impact of Obama's fact finding trip. Europe obviously loves this guy Obama. I wonder why? Obama in his good will tour, said it in Germany that he wants to bridge again the gap left by the Bush Administration and wanted to invite the European nations to be Global partners in the problems being affronted by terrorism and the environment and the economy global being affected due to high oil price.
McCains' campaing at home could not generate the attention Obama was getting abroad, crowds by the thousand that oppose the policies of the Bush Admin. Stop the whinning…just wait when Obama returns home and the national campaign continues. You Republicans have tried to say "BAD" things because you are hurting and are not getting the attention of the press. Play fairly and grow up!

trmasonic   July 26th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

Fans of John McCain…wake up. It's not the press coverage, it's your candidate that is weak and tired and tried out. A ball that is hit out of the park doesn't bounce, it just leaves the park on a straight trajectory. Obama's victory in November will be sweet and convincing, leaving him with a huge mandate that Bush could only claim to have after his "elections".

Say hello to a new, welcomed, progressive, majority in America.

Abdi, Minnesota   July 26th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

“It is hard for me to understand Sen. McCain’s argument. He was telling me I was supposed to take this trip. He suggested it and thought it was a good idea. But although I have to admit we had it planned before he made the suggestion,” Obama said.

No, you can’t blame McCain for this. Senator Barack Obama need to make his own dicision. A decision to meet with the world leaders, a decision to cancel or not cancel his visit with soldiers. McCain always attacks on issues (not his trip) but Obama seems to turn it into personal. The Obama campaign and Senator Obama himself is solely responsible for the success of this trip.

Evelyn in Ala.   July 26th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

Obama is what we need now in the White House–a brilliant, reasonable person with good judgment. Yes, and he also speaks English! That will be a pleasant change! McCain has his good points but is too "Bushlike", especially now that he has employed a Karl Rove trainee who has pushed him toward the very low road in his nasty attacks on Obama.

He is, after all, the Prime Minister.

Nice editing, CNN.

I am so very proud of Obama and the week he has accomplished on his world tour. John McSane and his party is very jealous and it is showing day by day. Now matter what the polls show, its just a matter of time when the actual numbers will show Obama as the next President of the free world.

Obama is blessed by God and he is also protected by God and that is something a lot of people don't understand.

Humble Obama! May God continue to lead and guide and protect you all the days of your life. Keep you head up and stay strong.

God Bless you and your family daily…….

Obama is a serial flip flopper. He has got a bounce in his poll numbers as a result of this tax payer campaign trip, but it will prove to be temporary. Rasmussen's tracking poll still shows where McCain has taken a 6 point lead in Ohio and now leads in Colorada. Now that the flip flopper in back in the USA and has been gone for about eight days,he should restate where he is on the issues. When he loses in November, maybe he can run for President of France, or for Prime Minister of Germany or President of Afganistan.

Oh by the way a comment on the series you have been running to help sell Obama to the public (BLACK IN AMERICA). You have went way overboard. I know a lot of races in america including poor whites who face the same obstacles and achieve the american dream. You need to quite making them out and supporting the belief that they are owed something extra from america. Everybody and ever race in the world has been a slave at one point in history. Before the liberals and blacks start crying about the white man using them as slaves they need to know that these white slave traders did not go out in the jungle and find them. They had already been conquered by other black tribes and were slaves to them and the white slave traders bought them from their former masters. Of course slavery is terrible and no person should ever endure it. But they need to place some of that blame on their own in Africa.

The delusional Republican haters can say what they want. But Obama's behavior shows over and over again that he is a great man and he will be a great leader. He has the character, the demeanor and the intelligence to lead and inspire. In the meantime, McCain whines and calls names and attacks and can't conjure a good or original idea. If this country votes McSame into office, we get exactly what we deserve. Which is disaster.

OBAMA: And, well, and you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture. Or you lose a sense of, I think you lose a feel …

CAMERON: Your feeling. And that is exactly what politics is all about. The judgment you bring to make decisions.

OBAMA: That's exactly right. And the truth is that we've got a bunch of smart people, I think, who know 10 times more than we do about the specifics of the topics. And so if what you're trying to do is micromanage and solve everything then you end up being a dilettante, but you have to have enough knowledge to make good judgments about the choices that are presented to you.

Sure, Obama just loves all the media attention, just like when the media ran the Wright story over and over and over and over… It works both ways people, what do you want, to go back to just re-hashing the Wright story? Cause that's really all there is against Obama.

awww sweetie how many naps does John McCain have to take a day after his diatribes about magical surges and there mystical time lines? John McCain cant even work week ends, now really sweetie get a grip. and IF your McCain was so great with all of his "experience and ability to lead" why is he not AHEAD? the truth is, lovely McCain has some 59 LOBBYIST on his campaign, millions of Big Oil dollars being funneled through his campaign through the RNC, he has GW huggin n kissin him and ALL he can do is whine about a surge that did work…IN THE WRONG WAR! and IF you can smell a phony, doll a miles away you better get a nose plug when YOUR mccain pays people to sit in on the town meeting in your area. ever noticed how board those poor poor people look when he talks, they look like they are being tortured.

carly - OBAMA's unclear motives   July 26th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Have you every really listened to Obama's specific message? Me neither b/c it is still unclear as to what he stands for today. "Change" is a broad, unspecific term that sounds good in theory, but ask him to tell you how it will be put into practice and things become foggy. Please ask him to wear an American flag, put his hand over his heart during the pledge, and proudly support America like a presidential candidate should – he won't…wow, that is truly scary!

pam Eugene OR   July 26th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Your trip abroad was an unqualified success Barack. Get a good rest on your flight home.
We are so proud of you. Right now it feels wonderful to be an American in the eyes of the world.
Now if some one just duct tape McCain's whining mouth the day would be perfect. We are tired of hearing bomb, war, surge, bomb, war, surge. The old dog needs to learn some new tricks if he can.
I bet Johnny boy is crying because he forced Barack to go. Be careful what you ask for.

norsegod   July 26th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

I just amazes me that people cannot see that Obama is a phoney. He has no clue on how to run this country and keeps flip flopping his policies. How many of the promises that he made in the primaries has he changed his mind on? The fact is Obama is inexperienced and no where near ready to take the position of president of this country. If you think that Bush was bad these last 8 years, you havn't seen anything yet. Obama will destroy our military just like Clinton did. You want to know why we weren't able to win the Iraq war any sooner, well it's because Clinton had cut the military back so far that we could not protect ourselves. Because Obama has no military experience, he will do the same and that will place this fine nation in a really big pickle being unable to properly defend ourselves. If American's don't wake up and smell the coffee pretty soon we will have Left winged hippy who cannot make up his mind running our country. That will be a SAD SAD day.

Mark, B'ham., Al.   July 26th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

No, Obama needs to go to the Senate and tell the democrats and their radical enviromenatlist special interest and alternative energy special interest that we need to drill for oil to get control of oil prices instead of leaving that control with Venezuala, other OPEC partners, and iran. We have had 40 years of trying to develope alternative energy sources and last time we did conservation we had the K Car Era!

It's amazing how the Obama haters make a big stink about his trip. Are you upset that McCain also went to Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, and Canada and did not get the media coverage Obama did? Or perhaps you are upset that McCain dared him to take a trip overseas and he called the dare? Or maybe you are upset that he is warmly received by thousands of people here and abroad while McCain can barely fill a hotel ball room? Maybe you are upset that he is just 46 yrs old and McCain can be his grandfather? As Mccains former advisor said it so eloquently; stop your whinning!!

The point of this trip was to give undecided voters the chance to see that Obama is a "safe choice." Mission accomplished, mark my words.

As for the bump in the polls, I guarantee this time next week his lead will have a significantly wider margin.

Larry   July 26th, 2008 4:32 pm ET

Senator Obama was challenged by John McCain and the Republican Party. Since he went overseas and was received exceptionally well, Mr. McCain and the Republican Party is upset that the trap they tried to set ended up not being a trap at all. Good always supercedes evil.
Obama is just what this country needs to get it back on the right path. Mr. Obama stay true to who you are. America will do the right thing and elect you in November.

The funniest thing is that the GOP and McCain taunted him into doing an overseas trip and now all they can do is whine. Poor babies, McCain was only greeted by one reporter at the airport. McCain is losing his bearings.

Ttake a break Obama and don't come back!   July 26th, 2008 4:27 pm ET

The last thing we need right now is to have an empty bag of wind sitting as our next president. It will be very sad to watch all of our enemies attack us once he takes office; they know he is a spineless, incompetent joke of a politician who will never be able to defend America. God help us if he is elected. Would it be at all possible to amend the Constitution and let David Cameron run for president?

USA   July 26th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

I have nothing personal against this man. But for all you people on his bandwagon who seem to think he's the answer to the world's problems… have you ever looked at his voting record? Have you ever noticed the lack of legislation that he has sponsored and the lack that he is repsonsible for pushing through? Especially when you compare him to other senators that have been in office during the same period he has. It makes we wonder what's he's been doing. Check his record in the senate for yourself. This guy just came suddenly out of nowhere – it's like he's been on vacation most of his senate career. It's like he's winning some kind of popularity contest – not winning on his record. Can you say "lack of experience" – he's the epitomy. Not that I was for Hillary, but she is far more experienced than him and she has actually been a very active senator. Compare their records. Obama has done very little until he decided to run for president.

Marj,Paso Robles, Cal   July 26th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

"Sen. Barack Obama conceded to reporters that his stint off the American campaign trail may hurt him a bit with voters but felt the trip was vital to giving a “sense of where an Obama administration might take” U.S. foreign policy."

Yeah. American policy formed by nodding, positive, affirmative diktat from Europe.

John F. Kerry thought that message would resonate well with American voters, too. Now, the only time John-Boy will ever get to see inside the White House will be as the rest of us.

As a tourist.

Hans-Erik Iken   July 26th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

He should take a break now and then. Too many have worked too hard and then made unneeded mistakes. Itis a long way to november, so a day here and there will not matter.

archiesteel   July 26th, 2008 4:24 pm ET

MIchelle,

Actually, there is a bounce in the polls. Check out both the Gallup and Rasmussen tracking polls.

As for Obama's "fake" world tour, you're just jealous because your guy cannot generate this kind of excitement. November will come, BHO will be President, and McCain will continue to serve as a US Senator.

Chuck, Seattle   July 26th, 2008 4:23 pm ET

I support Barack, but why should a Senator or a candidate for president (whichever capacity he was travelling overseas) meet with a foreign leader to discuss foreign policy issues? Foreign policy is the function of the executive branch. Obama should wait until he is president to meet with foreign heads of state.

Franklin   July 26th, 2008 4:22 pm ET

Don't worry, Senator Obama is preparing himself for his "fickle" public.

Concerned Citizen   July 26th, 2008 4:17 pm ET

When the general concensus was that Barack Obama was a political "lightweight" in foreign affairs and "policy," he was careful not to give off any hint of "policy" making for that is only for the sitting President. His trip was as a sitting US Senator, and not as the Democratic (presumptive) nominee. He was allowed to express himself as a "citizen of the world" as we all are, yet not to make statements as a political candidate.

The purpose of the trip, while being accompanied by two other sitting Senators, was to "burnish" as the media puts it, his foreign affairs presence. Well,,,,,, you have got to say,,,,, he addressed the whole world,,,,, as that "citizen" and the whole world listened……. I would say his burnished credentials puts him on par with two previous US Presidents,,,,,,,, Jack Kennedy,, and Ronald Reagan…. This was his purpose with the trip,,,,,,, and I do believe,,,,,, he has accomplished his goal……… quite so………

Wow   July 26th, 2008 4:10 pm ET

Great comments – and very fair ones at that – on Sen. Barack Obama who is jetting back to Chicago from his whirlwind tour of some of the world's hot spots (some because places like Darfur in Sudan was not included). But America is America. Americans must be reminded that they voted in Bush twice – and, therefore, in many ways deserve what he delivered (including the record high gas prices that are a direct consequence of energy policies that were crafted behind closed doors in league with Big Oil). The right wingers (or "conservatives") will continue to vote loyally for whoever their new Republican presidential candidate as always, even though they know full well that he will lead us into the third world war that Bush promised us. And they will be backed, as usual, by the Catholic hierarchy and other groups that shrink from the word "liberal" and know that its murder when the topic is abortion, and it's not murder when the topic is rockets falling on innocent people in Bagdad (or Teheran which is going to be next if the McCain overcomes the odds and succeeds Bush in the White House. And the left wing (or "liberals") will vote loyally for their "liberal" candidadte. The berliners might have imbibed the notion that Obama could make a better president; but then Americans have been told – and have imbibed the notion – that that sort of tendency on the part of Europens is a reflection of their "Old European" mentality. Who ever said that we humans learn anything from history – despite our avowals to the contrary.

Kaye- Jacksonville FL   July 26th, 2008 4:08 pm ET

So just how does ANYONE rationalize the McCain candidacy? Obama is not perfect, no he is not the Messiah….but he is an incredibly intelligent, articulate, well-informed, effective politician (politician is not a negative – our President needs to be an effective politician). He has the energy, vision, skill, and judgement to lead our country in a new direction.

McCain is more of the same – sorry, but he has NONE of the qualities noted above. He is the riskier of the two, because he will push us over the precipice that George W led us to….It totally astounds me that anyone could vote for this man.

Great trip abroad Obama!! This man will represent us well around the world and restore our place as a respected leader around the globe.

Robin for Obama   July 26th, 2008 4:07 pm ET

Time Magazine, March 21, 2008:
Flanked by fellow Senators Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham, McCain noted they'd undertaken their week long fact-finding tour of Iraq, Jordan, Israel, England and France as members of Congress's Armed Services committee — not as some sort of campaign foreign road show. Perhaps, but discussing international affairs with foreign leaders and enhancing McCain's presidential hopes aren't mutually exclusive. Still, McCain acted the apt pupil. "I wish every senator, every senator would make this same trip," McCain said, noting several of the first-hand educational experiences he'd gotten. "They'd be better informed."

Leah DiMarco, Texas   July 26th, 2008 4:06 pm ET

Senator Obama needs a break to see his family and to get some rest.
In August he and his family will be going to Hawaii to see his grandmother, sister, and to visit the grave of his grandfather buried at the veteran's cemetery. His grandmother still lives in the same high-rise apartment where Obama lived with her while he was growing up – so this trip will be like him going home. God Bless America and God Bless the Obama family.

McWar keeps attacking senator Obama. He should know that 'Senior Citizens' should be nice, not to lie; otherwise, he has not learned anything about life. I am McWar's age, ergo, I know!
Also, consider this: why is he even now, taking weekends??
Answer: after 70, we cannot work too many hours a day. Time takes its toll. That is the way nature works.
If he were to win, who would really be running the country?
He will start at 72. Recently Bush said he forgets things because he is 62, 10 solid years younger than McWar!!!
Regardless, we do need a change. VIVA Obama!

Can anyone imagine a 72 year old man taking on this kind of schedule? How would McCain have the stamina to handle a world crisis – a Cuban Missile Crisis type situation where the president may be basically in conference for days at a time, round the clock.

McCain looks to be in fairly good shape for a man his age but there's no way he's up to the stress and physical demands of the presidency. That's not ageism, that's just a biological fact. Look how badly it's aged Bush and he spent most of his presidency off riding his bike while Cheney dealt with the real problems.

Rodney F.   July 26th, 2008 3:47 pm ET

Mc Cain is playing the same game a former candidate played; blaming the media for his lackluster campaign shows his inability to lead. Leaders do not complain they modify, re energize their team and re focus, You should check with one of your advisers I believe it’s called whining( Whine: vi complain peevishly: to complain in an unreasonable, repeated, or irritating way) Unfortunately the media will fall for it , maybe Mc Cain needs do have another BBQ for the reporters. Mc Cain shouldn't complain, he had the field all to himself when Hillary and Obama were at each others throat, it's not the media it is you Mr. Mc Cain, a true leader inspire by policies vision and charisma, Sir you have neither.

lemonton   July 26th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Those polls are a cooked anyway. Obama is increasing his support in all demographics and those polls show something completely opposite. I studied statistics and I can shown many ways to cook polls and make them look legitimate. This is just another attempt to give hope
to the failed campaign of John McCain. I am currently in Texas and for every person who supports McCain I found two who support Obama.

No time to rest he has a country to save. Save us from McSame and four more years of Bush and the republicans. God brought you up and his blessings are all over you Mr Obama. They are freaked out as to how you got to the place that you are and what the devils don't know is that Gods power is with you. McSame divorced his wife while she was sick and has to answer for that before God because God hates divorce. McSame is a sick man but the others devils that follow him can't see that fact but everyone else can. So stay on him like you are in the fight for life. Don't let the jackal breath when you hit him. McSame will never be president.

If you check the polls this morning he did get a bounce. But, more importantly, he proved to the country that he can restore America's reputation around the world. No tall order given what Bush has done to it.

Tom   July 26th, 2008 3:36 pm ET

Awww, is poor Michelle tired from having to listen to Obama tell it like it is? And there will be a bounce in the polls…believe it! It may not happen today or tomorrow, but when 11/4 rolls around, Obama will be leaving McShame groveling in the dust!
I can certainly understand why you think Barack is a phony…you don't have the smarts to know anything different.

Just what America wants right now. An energetic and charismatic young leader who has the ability to bring back Americas allies to the table. The whole world likes the guy. McBush can't stand that. he called him presumptious by acting presidential. I dont know what to do with these right wingers. First, McSame Bush goes aorund saying the guy doesnt have foriegn policy experience and will not be able to make the tough decisions, now he goes out and is received well (one of the prerequisites to being an effective American president), and now he is going around callind him arrogant, presumptious and boastful. Sorry Senator Mcbush, your time is past buddy. It was Ok for you to go to Mexico and Columbia without being presumptious, but not ok for your opponent to visit forign lands? OH wait, maybe you are so out of date and out of touch that you thought Mexico and Columbia is part of your America.

Go Obama Go

David   July 26th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Obama has proved to the whole world he is intelligent and perseverence. He is presidential material. No wonder McSame feels left out.

Klaus   July 26th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Actually Michelle, there is a bounce in the polls.

Obama now has a 7-point lead in Gallup's daily tracker.
Obama also has a 6-point lead in Rasmussen's daily tracker.

Last week, Obama/McCain were tied or almost tied in both.

For some reason, it takes about 4 or 5 days for polls to start detecting the upshot from news events, though part of this has to do with the fact that polls are rolling averages. But sure enough, the bounce is there!

Brian G, Sugar Land, TX   July 26th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

The kindness bestowded on Barack by foreign leaders is indicative of their desire to work with a more practical POTUS than the current administration. This also applies to their reactions and treatment of McCain. Old man, old ideas, same old ****.

Obama is just too unexperienced. YOur taxes WILL go up, guarenteed. If you make more than $30k a year, you will feel it. this country will go down worse than with George Bush. We need a good change not one that will make things go from bad to worse. McCain will not raise your taxes and he will get the gasoline flowing. the people who make stupid decisions regarding poor choices, you need to be responsible. Take care of your self! Don't wait for others to take care of you.

To those McCain supports who are laughing it up that Obama hasn't received a bounce in the polls yet, please consider this: polls always run a week to two weeks behind.

I echo the sentiment that Obama has worked his tail off the last week. Americans love to find a winner in a person who actually works to get where he is.

Marc   July 26th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

Obama is looking more like the President of the United States. I am still waiting to see when will McCain supporters answer this one question. Why did McCain say "at one time, I too did not love America, UNTIL I was deprived of her company." So far, no McCain supporter can answer that question. They can for Michelle Obama, but not McCain.

sara   July 26th, 2008 3:02 pm ET

They were talking about vacations becasue the day that Obama
happened to be in Britian was also the day the British Parliament was going on vacation (the same way the Congress here in the USA goes on vacation for a few weeks). This is why it happened to have been a a topic of small talk, because of that vacation the British parliament was taking starting that day.

Mike in Cincinnati   July 26th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

Just an absolutely outstanding week. Obama has shown that he has the intellect, the ability, the values, and the judgment to represent us on the world stage. He has the ability to rebuild and extend our alliances, and in so doing, will move the U.S.'s agenda forward in the international community. If anyone had doubts about his capability before, this last week should help ease those concerns. He IS the real deal.

Lani in Los Angeles   July 26th, 2008 2:59 pm ET

Michelle, where is McCain's major lead in the polls? There is no way Obama should be any percetage above McCain in the polls. Obama is a rookie and McCain has tons of experience. What's wrong with the polls picture? Unless of course it's too early in the race to take polls seriously or the polls are "just a snapshot in time" or the pollster lacks credibility. Which is it Michelle?

The media coverage is ridiculous. This man should not be meeting with world leaders, He is not the president! I personally would rather see him address the real crisis!!! America's crisis. the economy the crime the morgage mess the airline crisis the oil and energy crisis the political crisis that is causing almost all of our problems. But no hes at a photo op. Why stirickly to get elected. He still offers no solutions. Just alot of Photo ops. Both these candidates are the worst poss choices. I will continue to vote for HC who is the best PERSON FOR THE JOB. HANDS DOWN. I hope everyone who wanted to vote for her still writes in her name. Would that rock their boats. Obama was pushed by McCain to travel abroad and he did. He did a beautiful job and looks far more rested , is far more knowlegeable and well spoken and is so much more articulate and intuitive than McCain and the ole Republican boys club will ever be.
Why do you call him phony? Becuase he is a successful black man who worked hard and studied and was/is driven. He shows us all what this country is all about. I was a Hillary gal but we cannot as Hillary said have 4 more years of Bush. Our country must have change, in leadership, intellect, policy , and we need it now.

Michelle and Willie,

You are just completely out of touch with your statements. Obama is a true leader and has worked extremely hard throughout his campaign. No one in the world can take his accomplishments away from him. Your ignorant statements can never go against his record.

Regardless of what happens – whether McCain becomes president or Obama, I am proud of Obama for all the hard work and inspiration he has spreaded through the black community. Obama will be recorded in history as running the best campaign in the USA. He has represented our country well, and we should be so proud that so many countries around the world admire us.

Look at all the people in the countries around the world who showed up to see Obama. How many of us in the United States know about what is going on in Europe elections. However, the world admires us enough to keep up with what we are doing. This country that we live in is truly blessed, and we should be so proud that we represent freedom, unity, and peace for all.

I am an African-American who loves the United States of America. This is my country, and I am proud of our nations leaders. Barack Obama has proven he can hang with the best.

Thanks Obama for representing our great country!!!!!!!

Right! Acting, posing for pictures and reading scripts is hard work! :)

Obama is "so heavenly minded that he is no earthly good!" He can read saccharine rhetoric with no substance, and he is a good pretender in his one act drama. He still uses his kids in magazine glossy photos (People Magazine), and he forgot to pray for the "Peace of Jerusalem" as he posed at the wall!

Obama is the most nauseating, arrogant, egomaniac that has ever disgraced the political scene. :(

Obama does need rest. That is why he had to exercise whan he was in Europe, because of stress and the media and that old man McCain was being FATUOUS! Obama was just trying to take care of himself, I like CNN corresponded Candy, but what a stupid question to ask Obama, why he did not go see the wounded soldiers when she should be right there with him. She does not look like a very healthy person. Like Obama said he can't be everywhere. I know he is a GENUINE! person and he cares about our TROOPS! his trip was photographed with utmost perfection. It warms my heart to see American flags in another country – not on fire.

Com'on of course the trip is a campaign move. There's no way in hell McCain will or would ever be able to repair the trans-Atlantic relationship. This is the Obama campaign's way of illustrating that fact without having to spell it out.

I think that his trip has went so incredibly well. He's showing that he doesn't mind hard work and putting in the time and effort to prepare for these types of things shows his work ethic. Add to that the fact that his policies are sound, it really makes you think what the issue with all the people that don't see him as a viable candidate. Take away the two men and stack the views and stances next to each other the picture becomes very clear to me and so many others that Barack is the clear choice.
I"m glad this hardworking man will be taking a break soon and has been given this great advice to have a little quiet time in his day…EVERYDAY!!!

God bless you all!

So let me get this straight.

Barack Obama has been in the U.S campaigning since October 2007, hitting every state, talking to hundreds of thousands of people, and he visits Europe for one week to meet the leaders there, and McCain says he is "feeling left out" and wondering if the American people feel that way too? How can that NOT sound like sour grapes and envy for not taking the trip first?

That McCain is a piece of work.

Senator, great job on representing our great nation! God bless.

lady in michigan   July 26th, 2008 2:34 pm ET

The reason that Obama's stunning performance abroad gave him "no bounce in the polls," Michelle, is the deplorable ignorance of so many of the US people who still do not understand that our problems can only be solved globally, and that the sine-qua-non of those solutions we all need is good will towards America. Btw, you sound as if you're really hurting under the weight of that green-eyed monster there.

ALL WORK AND NO PLAY – I remember Bill Clinton was always working around the clock (regardless of jokes about what else he might be doing) When Bill Clinton was campaigning his voice was sometimes hoarse from one to many speeches in a row. I have seen Obama wear himself out during the Primaries and I wish he would cancel some events and visit his Family in Hawaii for a week; but it won't happen. Like Bill Clinton someone who understands that god has given him this one chance to make the world a better place, Peace and Prosperity in our time and our childrens time – can't seem to rest until the job is done – which it never is.

MikeH   July 26th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

The Republicans have had 10+ years to saturate media, polling organizations and voting equipment manufacturers with their secret, and not-so-secret operatives (e.g. Diebold, Wall Street Journal,). Polls at this point are being corrupted by these operative in every way untraceable to suppress or distort presentation of opinion contrary to their intent.

Obama has a mostly terrific international tour (I think the Berlin speech was too much of a circus), while McCain stumbles repeatedly, is caught lying about the surge, and has his essay rejected by a newspaper that endorses his candidacy. Yet the polls show nothing.

Ignore Opinion Polls for now, and MAKE SURE voting machines are not set up to delete valid Democratic votes and manufacture false Republican votes, as happened in Florida in 2000.

Howard, AL   July 26th, 2008 2:17 pm ET

Um Michelle, He did get a BOUNCE in the polls. Check out Rasmussen and Gallup Polls today. He's up 6 to 7 points.

Oh!…..then I should end my picture of the 21st century centaur with a sceptre in his mouth. What a trip.

Ted van Tol   July 26th, 2008 2:15 pm ET

Yesterday I saw Sen. McCain in the Situation Room.
I realy felt sorry for him.
I saw a tired man who told us that he know how to win wars,
he would bring Osama Bin Laden to justice because he knew
the aria he lives in and……………………….. I saw at his face that he
dont believe it himself. I saw the same face that I have seen by
G. Bush the last year.
Sen. Mc Cain, whom I respect, is an old and tired man. When he
becomes President of the USA he wil be totaly depent on his advisers like Bush did.
When Mc Cain would come to Berlin I am sure, no one would show up.

And what a difference when I see Barack Obama, young, strong, wise and loved all over the world. He is not the Messiah but he is a good man with a vision for this world no one ever dreamed of.l
He gives so many hope for the future.

Americans vote for the best candidate, Barack Hussein Obama.

With love from the Netherlands.

Europe for Obama!

wiser   July 26th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Americans will not be fooled by an adoring press. We will not support someone with so little experience. The press can keep pushing Senator Obama on us but the voters will not elect him. We are not electing an American Idol. We are electing a president, which is more than a popularity contest.

Also, the last time I checked Europeans could not vote in US elections.

We will choose experience, judgment, and a genuine war hero over a zero every time!

Democrats for McCain!

Kofi, New lenox IL   July 26th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Yes I do agree Senate Obama you need a rest, for the road ahead is tough, but ye shall prevail at the end.

Janet   July 26th, 2008 2:05 pm ET

I'm sure he could use a moment to relax and get focus on returning to the USA..
No doubt he will have to prove what the trip was about. Also, the Obama campaign has a large list of events scheduled for Obama next week. So rest up Barack, because the American people are excited about your return.
Hit the beach, have a drink to relax!

We are all waiting your return!

obama, why didnt you visit canada   July 26th, 2008 2:04 pm ET

obama, we love you, come to canada and rest…on your week of in august!!!!!

Michelle   July 26th, 2008 2:00 pm ET

Awwwwh–Is poor Barry tired from his weeklong Fake World Tour Photo Op Campaign?

Gee–and NO BOUNCE in the polls. Go figure.

I guess Americans can smell a phony miles away.

Willy   July 26th, 2008 2:00 pm ET

pt   July 26th, 2008 1:57 pm ET

America needs Obama now!

Rus Houston   July 26th, 2008 1:56 pm ET

OBama is really something special. If you look at his record, you will see that this guy is no here today and gone tomorrow. This guy is the real deal. First African American President of Havard Law review. Doing the impossible by winning the Democratic nomination (a real David and goliath story). Now look at his foreign trip. A success of the highest order.

Life is not easy and unfortunately, things are not usually presented to us on a silver platter. If it was, life would be very easy. Obama has been presented to us, and it is up to us to put the pieces together. If we do, we will see that this is a man that can deliver the goods.Simply put, I think a miracle is happening right in front of our eyes. But sometimes it is hard to see a miracle when you're living it.

USA FOR OBAMA   July 26th, 2008 1:54 pm ET

Barack Obama is a true leader. Just what this country needs. He is very intelligent, honest, he has moral values and interity. He rises above the petty name calling, dirty tricks and he doesn't whinn. He doesn't play dirty. We have to have a strong leader to create jobs, address the housing market, bring gas prices down and bring our wonderful military home.

Barack Obama will be the next President of the USA. He will go down in history as one of the greatest Presidents' in history.

If McCain was a Spice Girl...   July 26th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

Obama has worked harder in this campaign than Bush has these past 8 years. McCain doesn't do weekends. The world doesn't wait til the weekend is over, and neither does Obama. But he does need to stop and catch his breath, and refuel every once and a while. The man is not a machine.

TEXAN   July 26th, 2008 1:43 pm ET

Yes, I agree. Obama, you do need a break ! Here's hoping that you will be able to take a break in August. We do not want you to be exhausted. We need you to be strong and be ready to "fight" in order to beat McCain in November. We need you as our next President !

Franky   July 26th, 2008 1:43 pm ET

The beach??? Man, it seems to me that Europe knows how to party as well! LOL!!

lovable liberal   July 26th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

It's very important that the President not be in charge of allocating the White House tennis court.

Now I want to know who President Obama's going to get to make the relationship with Congress work.

VON BISMARK,Vienna.   July 26th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

In what capacity was mcWAR talking to the Chinese authorities? As President of the US?

Peter of Oregon   July 26th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Obama feels comfortable talking to anyone. That discussion where he was receiving advice was with a Conservative Party Leader.

Anna   July 26th, 2008 1:37 pm ET

Has our Presidential election become world wide. I mean Obama seems to be spending more time traveling the world during this election year then he does touring the US and talking to the people who are going to elect him or not. He is acting more like he is already the President of the United State with all him visiting leaders all over the world. I don't remember any other presidential candidate going to so many foreign countries during the last stagges of an election year. Wonder if the money that was donated to help in his campain here at home is what he is using to go on his " world wide vacation".
Does he think it's better to spend time in other countries then it is to be in the USA talking to American voters about American problems and American issues. After all it's we American's he will be working for IF he gets elected.

Shannon in California   July 26th, 2008 1:36 pm ET

Take a break Obama, you deserve it, job well done.

Psalm 23: "He prepares me a table before my enemies".

So if you hate him and can't stand all the presitge and honor around him, read Psalm 23. You will understand. The Lord loves us all, but I believe Obama is blessed to lead. He will lead with the guidance of God.

Did you read the prayer he left at the wall in Israel?
God Bless him and God bless us all.

average joe   July 26th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

you are going to get criticized for everything you do, no matter what.

mccain 08

Watermann   July 26th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Senator Obama did a more than good job boosting the picture of the US in the world and still, the voters don`t understand this. How sad. A "once in a lifetime chance" and most of the ordinary people, White or African American, don`t see the Global picture.

And now, like a CEO of a very big Company start to think one hour a day. As a retired manager I know exactly what it means to have such a schedule like Senator Obama.

I hope that in the end, the US prove how matured they are.

BarryO   July 26th, 2008 1:24 pm ET

Yeah hit the beach so you can look like John Kerry. Or maybe he don't want to be bothered by some loser. That's the kind of thing you say to a college student.

truly deserve   July 26th, 2008 1:20 pm ET

You need R&R. Take a week off and have a nice birthday and come back strong to become the President of the USA.
In the mean time, let this mean old man to show the world how mean confused and clueless he is. If press can send a photo of you relaxing near the beach or pool, I am sure McCain will continue the obnoxious comments an might even compare his belly to yours.
Envy & hate from this mean old creature.

aaaaa   July 26th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

obama keep fighting we love you and support you. obama 08!!!!!

Barack already has gray hair and he hasn't done anything yet but campaign.

Brad Morse   July 26th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

I really wish we could have found a candidate with the outside looks of Obama and inside depth of McCain. So like the civil war do we vote for looks or quality of life?

RyanD.   July 26th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Obama = Presidential!

This man is the real deal.

arkansas hillbilly   July 26th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

obama hit the beach, earlier this year, and was attacked by both clinton and the republicans.he cant do anything or go anywhere without these attack dogs harping on him for everything.those people have no respect for the long hours and endless days of campaigning.just attack attack attack!we are lucky to have a candidate who will even put up with their incessant, and endless attacks, but, just like hillary, mccain will go down for his constant negative campaigning.americans are tired of that kind of politics, and it should be put on the 'endangered' list.

mollygonz   July 26th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

There goes Obama and his outstanding judgement again. I love this man!

Greg   July 26th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

During a CNN interview with Wolf Blitzer and Mccain. Mccain said that a 16 months timetable to withdrawl from Iraq was a good Idea. Mccain has never agreed to any timetable. Now that Pres. Bush, PM Maliki has signed on to Obama's 16 month strategy now Mccain has also signed on. Mccain also is in denial. Wolf asked Mccain if he was president and PM Maliki persist on a 16 month withdrawl what would he do? Mccains answer was he wont because He know PM Maliki very well and he knows he has elections comming up. Therefore, Mccain is saying that Maliki is calling for a timetable to withdrawl from Iraq to win an election. Why else would he say, I know him, He wont persist on a withdrawl from Iraq, and he has elections comming up.

former republican white man from california for Obama   July 26th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

Wow! A potential president that is honest open and humble what a breath of fresh air it will be to have. I only wish the Republican party could have put someone out there that has this mans intelligence, humility, honestly and yes spirituality. Instead we got the typical SO called Neo Conservative thought he really is not. Basically the GOP candidate is just a puppet for all there big money backers and lobbyist friends from foreign countries. One of these days I might be able to call myself a republican again but for now I am independent our party has been taken over by fear and hate mongering tools.

I agree with the cool Brit. guy. You have worked your Butt off Rock Obama. Take a week on the beach with that great family you have.
Remember, God first, Family second, Work third.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   July 26th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

McCain takes every weekend off and Obama is going to wait until August to take a break. McCain's weekend breaks don't seem to stop him from making mistakes, maybe it would help if McCain took a permanent break, I see no other solution.

Loretta from California   July 26th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

To my knowledge, he hasn't had a real break since before the primaries. This cannot be good for ones health. Take a little time off, Senator.

DEMOCRATS UNITE!!!

Griff   July 26th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

You are a Phantom. Obama. Just another Illusion, full of promises for the Black American.. With an Empty Agenda…

Richard   July 26th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

When Obama gets back to America he better hit up florida. He needs to convince older voters why they should vote for a black man. They only see in black and white.. After a few townhalls in florida then he should hit up the beach in miami.
