British leader tells Obama: Hit the beach

Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.
Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.

LONDON (CNN) – It is no secret that Sen. Barack Obama’s whirlwind tour of the Middle East and Europe has left him, and everyone staffing and covering him, absolutely exhausted.

When asked how he was feeling the other day, he told reporters aboard his campaign plane that he was feeling a bit “sleepy.”

Earlier today, while meeting with Conservative Party Leader David Cameron, the pool camera microphone picked up some light banter between the two men about Obama’s current state of fatigue.

Cameron told the candidate, "You should be on the beach...you need a break. Well you need to be able to keep your head together."

Obama told Cameron he would try to take a week of in August. And he said he got advice from a Clinton White House veteran on how to handle the demands on his time.

Obama said, "Somebody who had worked in the White House who-not Clinton himself- but somebody who had been close to the process, said that should we be successful that actually the most important thing you need to do is to have big chunks of time during the day when all you're doing is thinking and the biggest mistake that a lot of these folks make is just feeling as if you have to be..."

Cameron interjected, "these guys just chalk your diary up."

Obama agreed, "right, exactly, in 15 minute increments"

Cameron told him, "We call it the dentist waiting room. You have to scrap that because you've got to have time."

Obama said not taking that break is when "you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture."

When Obama gets back to America he better hit up florida. He needs to convince older voters why they should vote for a black man. They only see in black and white.. After a few townhalls in florida then he should hit up the beach in miami.

To my knowledge, he hasn't had a real break since before the primaries. This cannot be good for ones health. Take a little time off, Senator.

McCain takes every weekend off and Obama is going to wait until August to take a break. McCain's weekend breaks don't seem to stop him from making mistakes, maybe it would help if McCain took a permanent break, I see no other solution.

  7. former republican white man from california for Obama

Wow! A potential president that is honest open and humble what a breath of fresh air it will be to have. I only wish the Republican party could have put someone out there that has this mans intelligence, humility, honestly and yes spirituality. Instead we got the typical SO called Neo Conservative thought he really is not. Basically the GOP candidate is just a puppet for all there big money backers and lobbyist friends from foreign countries. One of these days I might be able to call myself a republican again but for now I am independent our party has been taken over by fear and hate mongering tools.

During a CNN interview with Wolf Blitzer and Mccain. Mccain said that a 16 months timetable to withdrawl from Iraq was a good Idea. Mccain has never agreed to any timetable. Now that Pres. Bush, PM Maliki has signed on to Obama's 16 month strategy now Mccain has also signed on. Mccain also is in denial. Wolf asked Mccain if he was president and PM Maliki persist on a 16 month withdrawl what would he do? Mccains answer was he wont because He know PM Maliki very well and he knows he has elections comming up. Therefore, Mccain is saying that Maliki is calling for a timetable to withdrawl from Iraq to win an election. Why else would he say, I know him, He wont persist on a withdrawl from Iraq, and he has elections comming up.

obama hit the beach, earlier this year, and was attacked by both clinton and the republicans.he cant do anything or go anywhere without these attack dogs harping on him for everything.those people have no respect for the long hours and endless days of campaigning.just attack attack attack!we are lucky to have a candidate who will even put up with their incessant, and endless attacks, but, just like hillary, mccain will go down for his constant negative campaigning.americans are tired of that kind of politics, and it should be put on the 'endangered' list.

I really wish we could have found a candidate with the outside looks of Obama and inside depth of McCain. So like the civil war do we vote for looks or quality of life?

You need R&R. Take a week off and have a nice birthday and come back strong to become the President of the USA.
In the mean time, let this mean old man to show the world how mean confused and clueless he is. If press can send a photo of you relaxing near the beach or pool, I am sure McCain will continue the obnoxious comments an might even compare his belly to yours.
Envy & hate from this mean old creature.

Senator Obama did a more than good job boosting the picture of the US in the world and still, the voters don`t understand this. How sad. A "once in a lifetime chance" and most of the ordinary people, White or African American, don`t see the Global picture.

And now, like a CEO of a very big Company start to think one hour a day. As a retired manager I know exactly what it means to have such a schedule like Senator Obama.

I hope that in the end, the US prove how matured they are.

Psalm 23: "He prepares me a table before my enemies".

So if you hate him and can't stand all the presitge and honor around him, read Psalm 23. You will understand. The Lord loves us all, but I believe Obama is blessed to lead. He will lead with the guidance of God.

Did you read the prayer he left at the wall in Israel?
God Bless him and God bless us all.

Has our Presidential election become world wide. I mean Obama seems to be spending more time traveling the world during this election year then he does touring the US and talking to the people who are going to elect him or not. He is acting more like he is already the President of the United State with all him visiting leaders all over the world. I don't remember any other presidential candidate going to so many foreign countries during the last stagges of an election year. Wonder if the money that was donated to help in his campain here at home is what he is using to go on his " world wide vacation".
Does he think it's better to spend time in other countries then it is to be in the USA talking to American voters about American problems and American issues. After all it's we American's he will be working for IF he gets elected.
