British leader tells Obama: Hit the beach

Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.
Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.

LONDON (CNN) – It is no secret that Sen. Barack Obama’s whirlwind tour of the Middle East and Europe has left him, and everyone staffing and covering him, absolutely exhausted.

When asked how he was feeling the other day, he told reporters aboard his campaign plane that he was feeling a bit “sleepy.”

Earlier today, while meeting with Conservative Party Leader David Cameron, the pool camera microphone picked up some light banter between the two men about Obama’s current state of fatigue.

Cameron told the candidate, "You should be on the beach...you need a break. Well you need to be able to keep your head together."

Obama told Cameron he would try to take a week of in August. And he said he got advice from a Clinton White House veteran on how to handle the demands on his time.

Obama said, "Somebody who had worked in the White House who-not Clinton himself- but somebody who had been close to the process, said that should we be successful that actually the most important thing you need to do is to have big chunks of time during the day when all you're doing is thinking and the biggest mistake that a lot of these folks make is just feeling as if you have to be..."

Cameron interjected, "these guys just chalk your diary up."

Obama agreed, "right, exactly, in 15 minute increments"

Cameron told him, "We call it the dentist waiting room. You have to scrap that because you've got to have time."

Obama said not taking that break is when "you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture."

Obama feels comfortable talking to anyone. That discussion where he was receiving advice was with a Conservative Party Leader.

It's very important that the President not be in charge of allocating the White House tennis court.

Now I want to know who President Obama's going to get to make the relationship with Congress work.

Yes, I agree. Obama, you do need a break ! Here's hoping that you will be able to take a break in August. We do not want you to be exhausted. We need you to be strong and be ready to "fight" in order to beat McCain in November. We need you as our next President !

  6. If McCain was a Spice Girl...

Obama has worked harder in this campaign than Bush has these past 8 years. McCain doesn't do weekends. The world doesn't wait til the weekend is over, and neither does Obama. But he does need to stop and catch his breath, and refuel every once and a while. The man is not a machine.

  7. USA FOR OBAMA

Barack Obama is a true leader. Just what this country needs. He is very intelligent, honest, he has moral values and interity. He rises above the petty name calling, dirty tricks and he doesn't whinn. He doesn't play dirty. We have to have a strong leader to create jobs, address the housing market, bring gas prices down and bring our wonderful military home.

Barack Obama will be the next President of the USA. He will go down in history as one of the greatest Presidents' in history.

OBama is really something special. If you look at his record, you will see that this guy is no here today and gone tomorrow. This guy is the real deal. First African American President of Havard Law review. Doing the impossible by winning the Democratic nomination (a real David and goliath story). Now look at his foreign trip. A success of the highest order.

Life is not easy and unfortunately, things are not usually presented to us on a silver platter. If it was, life would be very easy. Obama has been presented to us, and it is up to us to put the pieces together. If we do, we will see that this is a man that can deliver the goods.Simply put, I think a miracle is happening right in front of our eyes. But sometimes it is hard to see a miracle when you're living it.

I'm sure he could use a moment to relax and get focus on returning to the USA..
No doubt he will have to prove what the trip was about. Also, the Obama campaign has a large list of events scheduled for Obama next week. So rest up Barack, because the American people are excited about your return.
Hit the beach, have a drink to relax!

We are all waiting your return!

Americans will not be fooled by an adoring press. We will not support someone with so little experience. The press can keep pushing Senator Obama on us but the voters will not elect him. We are not electing an American Idol. We are electing a president, which is more than a popularity contest.

Also, the last time I checked Europeans could not vote in US elections.

We will choose experience, judgment, and a genuine war hero over a zero every time!

    Democrats for McCain!

Yesterday I saw Sen. McCain in the Situation Room.
I realy felt sorry for him.
I saw a tired man who told us that he know how to win wars,
he would bring Osama Bin Laden to justice because he knew
the aria he lives in and............................. I saw at his face that he
dont believe it himself. I saw the same face that I have seen by
    G. Bush the last year.
Sen. Mc Cain, whom I respect, is an old and tired man. When he
becomes President of the USA he wil be totaly depent on his advisers like Bush did.
When Mc Cain would come to Berlin I am sure, no one would show up.

And what a difference when I see Barack Obama, young, strong, wise and loved all over the world. He is not the Messiah but he is a good man with a vision for this world no one ever dreamed of.l
He gives so many hope for the future.

Americans vote for the best candidate, Barack Hussein Obama.

    With love from the Netherlands.

    Europe for Obama!

most of us in germany turn our tv off anytime it´s about that country usa...etc...etc but the soo called barack obama wake our envie and interrest again about the country. ...and that is the real person you people need to regain your popularities and dignity here and also other part of the world.
the candidate is a very strong man and even prove wisdom knowledge understanding and caractere but need at the moment some vacation. By the way have the american realize that McCain is bit old and could not have made such a long journey without a pause and without a mistake when he is addressing to journalism and public?

I find it refreshing that a US presidential nominee takes the time to meet with his would-be peers. We live on one world, and all the countries are nothing but artificial boundarys.

Try and come home and rebut MCain's advertisement, and his boring town hall speeches. He thinks he has advantage on the war that is all he knows war, war, war, war. We do not need a president who want to bomb every country who disagree with his view, we need a president who is welling to talk to other leaders about world economic growth and peace.
