British leader tells Obama: Hit the beach

Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.
Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.

LONDON (CNN) – It is no secret that Sen. Barack Obama’s whirlwind tour of the Middle East and Europe has left him, and everyone staffing and covering him, absolutely exhausted.

When asked how he was feeling the other day, he told reporters aboard his campaign plane that he was feeling a bit “sleepy.”

Earlier today, while meeting with Conservative Party Leader David Cameron, the pool camera microphone picked up some light banter between the two men about Obama’s current state of fatigue.

Cameron told the candidate, "You should be on the beach...you need a break. Well you need to be able to keep your head together."

Obama told Cameron he would try to take a week of in August. And he said he got advice from a Clinton White House veteran on how to handle the demands on his time.

Obama said, "Somebody who had worked in the White House who-not Clinton himself- but somebody who had been close to the process, said that should we be successful that actually the most important thing you need to do is to have big chunks of time during the day when all you're doing is thinking and the biggest mistake that a lot of these folks make is just feeling as if you have to be..."

Cameron interjected, "these guys just chalk your diary up."

Obama agreed, "right, exactly, in 15 minute increments"

Cameron told him, "We call it the dentist waiting room. You have to scrap that because you've got to have time."

Obama said not taking that break is when "you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture."

problem here is, he is not President of America, and I pray he never becomes one. he is a pretender and all that support him, his taking you for a ride, he doesn't fool me, he is Hessin Obama and not an American and he doesn't stand for America. Who told him he could act like our President, oh, I know, CNN. He is a jerk, he is a 'home boy' from who knows where, but not from America. Wake up, vote

The guy is amazing... even if he is not making specific policy proposals abroad – it is clear the world likes him. The red states need to understand that is is important these days... if they respect our leader we will be more likely to prosper at home...I know there is a skepticism among the conservative base in this country – but it is now clear that leaders in France, Britain, Germany, Iraq and Israel think we may finally have a leader that they can trust.

Obama was pushed by McCain to travel abroad and he did. He did a beautiful job and looks far more rested , is far more knowlegeable and well spoken and is so much more articulate and intuitive than McCain and the ole Republican boys club will ever be.
Why do you call him phony? Becuase he is a successful black man who worked hard and studied and was/is driven. He shows us all what this country is all about. I was a Hillary gal but we cannot as Hillary said have 4 more years of Bush. Our country must have change, in leadership, intellect, policy , and we need it now.

Obamas trip to Irag was suppose to be just that! A trip to access the war. It has turned into a carnival. Cnn Nbc and all the other cable news and prime time news anchors are there. The media coverage is ridiculous. This man should not be meeting with world leaders, He is not the president! I personally would rather see him address the real crisis!!! America's crisis. the economy the crime the morgage mess the airline crisis the oil and energy crisis the political crisis that is causing almost all of our problems. But no hes at a photo op. Why stirickly to get elected. He still offers no solutions. Just alot of Photo ops. Both these candidates are the worst poss choices. I will continue to vote for HC who is the best PERSON FOR THE JOB. HANDS DOWN. I hope everyone who wanted to vote for her still writes in her name. Would that rock their boats. If she won her candidacy would be pure. With no Promises to anyone!!! Won fair and square without all the bias. Maybe with that kinda candidate We could actually GET SOMETHING DONE, IN THIS COUNTRY WE LIKE TO CALL FOR THE PEOPLE.

What a sad, bitter post. Millions of people outside the US (me included) are desparate for someone who can represent the best in the US again. It is absolutely not McCain – and sadly it's absolutely not you either.

Welcome back home. Take a break for couple of days before starting with providing specific solutions for economy, generating renewable energy and energy conservation by developing high speed rails across America providing skilled and unskilled jobs at GM in Detroits building rail road cars; Electric Engines at GE in Ohio; Manufacturing Steel infrastructure at US steel, Pensylvania; Upgrading the tracks with Catepillar equipment across America with High tech national navigation system Seatle.

America and the world are thisclose to something amazing which will be when President Obama takes office.

This small tour has proven how greatly this country has missed the mark on international relations.

And how the world has missed it, too. Just LOOK at that huge crowd in Germany.

    WOW.

Michelle, where is McCain's major lead in the polls? There is no way Obama should be any percetage above McCain in the polls. Obama is a rookie and McCain has tons of experience. What's wrong with the polls picture? Unless of course it's too early in the race to take polls seriously or the polls are "just a snapshot in time" or the pollster lacks credibility. Which is it Michelle?

Just an absolutely outstanding week. Obama has shown that he has the intellect, the ability, the values, and the judgment to represent us on the world stage. He has the ability to rebuild and extend our alliances, and in so doing, will move the U.S.'s agenda forward in the international community. If anyone had doubts about his capability before, this last week should help ease those concerns. He IS the real deal.

They were talking about vacations becasue the day that Obama
happened to be in Britian was also the day the British Parliament was going on vacation (the same way the Congress here in the USA goes on vacation for a few weeks). This is why it happened to have been a a topic of small talk, because of that vacation the British parliament was taking starting that day.

Obama is looking more like the President of the United States. I am still waiting to see when will McCain supporters answer this one question. Why did McCain say "at one time, I too did not love America, UNTIL I was deprived of her company." So far, no McCain supporter can answer that question. They can for Michelle Obama, but not McCain.

Now that McCain has endorsed Obama's 16 month timeline for withdrawal, and his stance on sending more troops to Afghanistan, the next thing we will see is his requesting to be Obama's VP.
