British leader tells Obama: Hit the beach

Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.

LONDON (CNN) – It is no secret that Sen. Barack Obama’s whirlwind tour of the Middle East and Europe has left him, and everyone staffing and covering him, absolutely exhausted.

When asked how he was feeling the other day, he told reporters aboard his campaign plane that he was feeling a bit “sleepy.”

Earlier today, while meeting with Conservative Party Leader David Cameron, the pool camera microphone picked up some light banter between the two men about Obama’s current state of fatigue.

Cameron told the candidate, "You should be on the beach...you need a break. Well you need to be able to keep your head together."

Obama told Cameron he would try to take a week of in August. And he said he got advice from a Clinton White House veteran on how to handle the demands on his time.

Obama said, "Somebody who had worked in the White House who-not Clinton himself- but somebody who had been close to the process, said that should we be successful that actually the most important thing you need to do is to have big chunks of time during the day when all you're doing is thinking and the biggest mistake that a lot of these folks make is just feeling as if you have to be..."

Cameron interjected, "these guys just chalk your diary up."

Obama agreed, "right, exactly, in 15 minute increments"

Cameron told him, "We call it the dentist waiting room. You have to scrap that because you've got to have time."

Obama said not taking that break is when "you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture."

I have not felt such pride in being an American. Barack Obama has brought back the pride that I knew we wanted, but didn't have for such a very long time. I feel as though we have been liberated from a cloud of shame. We have lived under a tyrant who made people fear themselves into obedience. I am so HOPING that Obama wins in November. I am DESPERATE for CHANGE.

"Ojo Iku ni ojo isimi" in Yoruba language, you get all the rest in the world when you die. Ride on Obama, take a breather once in a while, but there is no real rest in sight. Good Luck.

You must be our next president. The decision between you and McCain is a no brainer. There is no choice. You are the one.
From where I sit your trip was perfect. You look presidential and we are proud to have you represent us.
Get some rest. and get McCain out of the race. His success will be a very sad day for America and the last 8 years were sad enough.

You have our support. Go Obama!!!!!!!!

He sits, it's news, he spits, it's news...???...the coverage seems like the one given to Paris Hilton...what's happening to the media? And this is in the headlines!, not even an interior "page", what a disgrace for this so-called "balanced" news network.

No bounce in the polls Michelle? I guess that's why Gallup has him ahead of McCain by 7 points when he was only ahead by 2 just a few days ago. Your jealousy, vindictiveness, and hatefulness are sickening.

Michelle: The CNN polls are outdated and inaccurate...especially their electoral map...do some research. McCain has to take every weekend off after a week of heavy campaigning in town hall meetings in front of selected audiences.

A thinking American President...an oxymoron but very, very refreshing seeing as your thoughts are now being employed by all sides in the Iraq war.

Obama is exhausted after his world tour, which simply flopped. How does he think he'll feel after battling a pesky recession, mortgage bailouts and rising gas prices? This sounds like whining to me, and I do not want a whiner in the White House. I want a winner.

People are asking, where's the bounce? Well, the voters are going to bounce Obama back to Illinois .

It's amazing how the Obama haters make a big stink about his trip. Are you upset that McCain also went to Iraq, Afghanistan, South America, and Canada and did not get the media coverage Obama did? Or perhaps you are upset that McCain dared him to take a trip overseas and he called the dare? Or maybe you are upset that he is warmly received by thousands of people here and abroad while McCain can barely fill a hotel ball room? Maybe you are upset that he is just 46 yrs old and McCain can be his grandfather? As Mccains former advisor said it so eloquently; stop your whinning!!

No, Obama needs to go to the Senate and tell the democrats and their radical enviromenatlist special interest and alternative energy special interest that we need to drill for oil to get control of oil prices instead of leaving that control with Venezuala, other OPEC partners, and iran. We have had 40 years of trying to develope alternative energy sources and last time we did conservation we had the K Car Era!
