British leader tells Obama: Hit the beach

Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.

Sen. Barack Obama listens to British Tory Leader David Cameron Saturday in London.

LONDON (CNN) – It is no secret that Sen. Barack Obama’s whirlwind tour of the Middle East and Europe has left him, and everyone staffing and covering him, absolutely exhausted.

When asked how he was feeling the other day, he told reporters aboard his campaign plane that he was feeling a bit “sleepy.”

Earlier today, while meeting with Conservative Party Leader David Cameron, the pool camera microphone picked up some light banter between the two men about Obama’s current state of fatigue.

Cameron told the candidate, "You should be on the beach...you need a break. Well you need to be able to keep your head together."

Obama told Cameron he would try to take a week of in August. And he said he got advice from a Clinton White House veteran on how to handle the demands on his time.

Obama said, "Somebody who had worked in the White House who-not Clinton himself- but somebody who had been close to the process, said that should we be successful that actually the most important thing you need to do is to have big chunks of time during the day when all you're doing is thinking and the biggest mistake that a lot of these folks make is just feeling as if you have to be..."

Cameron interjected, "these guys just chalk your diary up."

Obama agreed, "right, exactly, in 15 minute increments"

Cameron told him, "We call it the dentist waiting room. You have to scrap that because you've got to have time."

Obama said not taking that break is when "you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture."

I just amazes me that people cannot see that Obama is a phoney. He has no clue on how to run this country and keeps flip flopping his policies. How many of the promises that he made in the primaries has he changed his mind on? The fact is Obama is inexperienced and no where near ready to take the position of president of this country. If you think that Bush was bad these last 8 years, you havn't seen anything yet. Obama will destroy our military just like Clinton did. You want to know why we weren't able to win the Iraq war any sooner, well it's because Clinton had cut the military back so far that we could not protect ourselves. Because Obama has no military experience, he will do the same and that will place this fine nation in a really big pickle being unable to properly defend ourselves. If American's don't wake up and smell the coffee pretty soon we will have Left winged hippy who cannot make up his mind running our country. That will be a SAD SAD day.

What a CNN suck up article. Soft reports on Obama while you hurl the bricks at John McCain.

The public is left with crap when you should be writing critical reports.

Your trip abroad was an unqualified success Barack. Get a good rest on your flight home.
We are so proud of you. Right now it feels wonderful to be an American in the eyes of the world.
Now if some one just duct tape McCain's whining mouth the day would be perfect. We are tired of hearing bomb, war, surge, bomb, war, surge. The old dog needs to learn some new tricks if he can.
I bet Johnny boy is crying because he forced Barack to go. Be careful what you ask for.

  5. carly - OBAMA's unclear motives

Have you every really listened to Obama's specific message? Me neither b/c it is still unclear as to what he stands for today. "Change" is a broad, unspecific term that sounds good in theory, but ask him to tell you how it will be put into practice and things become foggy. Please ask him to wear an American flag, put his hand over his heart during the pledge, and proudly support America like a presidential candidate should – he won't...wow, that is truly scary!

John McCain cant even work week ends, now really sweetie get a grip. and IF your McCain was so great with all of his "experience and ability to lead" why is he not AHEAD? the truth is, lovely McCain has some 59 LOBBYIST on his campaign, millions of Big Oil dollars being funneled through his campaign through the RNC, he has GW huggin n kissin him and ALL he can do is whine about a surge that did work...IN THE WRONG WAR! and IF you can smell a phony, doll a miles away you better get a nose plug when YOUR mccain pays people to sit in on the town meeting in your area. ever noticed how board those poor poor people look when he talks, they look like they are being tortured.

Sure, Obama just loves all the media attention, just like when the media ran the Wright story over and over and over and over... It works both ways people, what do you want, to go back to just re-hashing the Wright story? Cause that's really all there is against Obama.

A well deserved rest. As for you Republican trol;ls out there whining because he took this trip, remember McCain INSISTED that he go, and did you forget that McCain went to Columbia, Mexico and Canada? Always blame the other guy, it is easier to take cheap shots, than discuss the issues!

OBAMA: And, well, and you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture. Or you lose a sense of, I think you lose a feel ...

CAMERON: Your feeling. And that is exactly what politics is all about. The judgment you bring to make decisions.

OBAMA: That's exactly right. And the truth is that we've got a bunch of smart people, I think, who know 10 times more than we do about the specifics of the topics. And so if what you're trying to do is micromanage and solve everything then you end up being a dilettante, but you have to have enough knowledge to make good judgments about the choices that are presented to you.

Rus Houston, you nailed it right on the head. We are witnessing a
miracle and yet many refuse to acknowlege it. We are used to our
Presidents wrapped in white skin, to the point that we cannot accept
it when it comes in any other color than we are used to.
Even in the Bible when Philip told Nathaniel that we have seen the one
Moses wrote about Jesus of Nazareth. Nathaniel could not believe it,
he said can anything good come out of Nazareth.

And we can smell the desesparation from a disgusting hater like yourself miles away.
Hope you have fun stewing in your hatred when Barack is our President. The rest of us will be rejoicing that such a brilliant, pragmatic gentleman will be leading our country at last.
