McCain hosts GOP allies at his Arizona cabin

Sen. McCain will use his cabin near Sedona, Arizona, to host several GOP leaders Saturday.

(CNN) - Sen. John McCain, who spent the week criticizing Sen. Barack Obama's trip to the Middle East and Europe, will host several top Republicans at his cabin outside Sedona, Arizona, later Saturday.

As many as 75 people are expected to attend a barbeque.

CNN's Dana Bash reported earlier this week that attendees would receive meetings and briefings from staff, including campaign manager Rick Davis, Saturday morning at a nearby Sedona resort where most will stay.

McCain often uses his creek-side cabin to hold intimate political events in a relaxed setting. He told reporters he hosted there this spring that making ribs on his large grill is one of his only means of relaxation.

A few months ago he hosted a group that included several would-be running mates - including former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist.

Ah yes, last week we jetted to the Hamptons where we of the GOP pseudo Royalty basked and dined and donated money to McBush III. This weekend we shall lounge at the 'Cabin' (a three residence multi million dollar Estate) and verbally chastise the presumptuous Euro trash for daring to be hospitable to 'That Man' when he visited. Oh Lovie, have the boy bring another Champagne.

  3. Things to Ponder

Are they meeting to discuss how the SURGE is working? Or are they meeting to discuss how John McCain was right about the SURGE? Maybe they will chant SURGE SURGE SURGE SURGE SURGE to toast before dinner.... while McCain look on grinning.

Whatever the reason for the meeting John McCain is looking for people to agree with him but it won't be Obama.....

Grumpy Old People unite in Arizona.. WOO HOO. Naps at 3pm with dinner at 5pm and lights out at 7pm.. I am sick of McCain already.. He wants more war, more dead American troops and his nurse/wife Cindy will help with his feedings and will hold his elbow each time he goes for a walk.

McCain your BBQ's are a joke. You don't even cook. You have a staff to cook and clean and taste the food for you. Stay in your cabin old man and retire!

A "war time" president is ALWAYS unpopular. It might take years for this country to REMEMBER, Bush kept us out of terrorist activities, told us that this is a war like no other that might last 10, 12, or even 14 years, kept unemployment low and WILL be instrumental in bringing oil prices down again. Never forget what Palosi and Reid and the impotent congress have done so far with their 9% approval rating and if Obama should happen to get in, his plans for you and your money as a freshman senator with less than 2 years total experience.

  9. Enlightened Voter

I honestly don't know how any enlightened person could ever think of voting for john mccain. His judgement sucks (too many instances to count), he is crooked (keating 5), he has no respect for women (voted against a bill to give women equal pay), is a war monger (iraq, surge, iraq, surge..), doesn't care a lick about GI's (has voted against GI bills 12 times, last time was a month ago), running a horrible and crooked campaign (too many instances of this to count here) and still supports the senseless war in Iraq. He is ghetto minded and not fit to lead our country.

Why isn't anyone talking about the HUGE oil spill in the Mississippi? Is it because it would be another instance of john mccain having bad judgment for wanting to drill off our oil coasts?

Senator McCain has experience, judgment, integrity, and is a genuine hero.

Americans will not choose Senator Obama. The choice is between a hero and a zero. The hero wins every time!

    Democrats for McCain!

    Entertaining 75 people at a "cabin"...must be nice...Obama entertained 200 000 supporters in Berlin...

The old Bush-alike will draw a crowd of "as many as 75 people."

Certainly it's not a public affair, but this report coming in the days after Obama's highly-rated introduction to the world is just plain laughable.

The proportion of 75 people to Obama's 200,000 people is about what McCain will lose by in November.

McCain's taking another week-off. He needs a week-end to rest from all of the Obama bashing he has done this week. He has got to be exhausted. I wonder if McBush will be there. I sure hope Dana Bash is there or someone has a hidden microphone.
