LONDON, England (CNN) - Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama headed back to the United States Saturday night, bringing to an end his eight-day trip to the Middle East and Europe.
The Obama campaign's chartered Boeing 757 took off from London's Heathrow Airport just after 6 p.m. local time (1 p.m. ET), bound for Chicago, Illinois.
During the trip, Obama visited Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
The senator told reporters just before takeoff that he intended to sleep the entire way home on the nearly eight-hour flight.
And I'll bet he's pretty satisfied with himself.
I am truly proud of Obama. He is just what America needs, before we self destruct. Welcome Home Obama, we missed you.
CNN I want to know what hes going to eat on the plane also.......telll meee nowwwwwwwwwww. loL But well deserved rest president obama.
Welcome home President Obama!
You did a great job and need some rest!
Thank you for showing Bush/McSame how to be mens!
We are lucky that we can share you with the world!
Good , Obama won't be able to trash Americans to to the Europeans while he is here.
Job well done! Get your rest for the road is long ahead of you.
Welcome back! And job well done. I remember thinking the week before, all that the stations could talk about was Obama making a gaffe. He did a fabulous job!!!
Time to kick republican butt for America!
Well done , what Barack Obama has done in one trip is restore the pride and envy of America abroad and again displayed to the nay sayers the the US and the world is ready for a change. John Mcsame tried to unlease is attack dog mode while he was away knowing that he would not respond in keeping with establish protocol .It will be interesting to see how he reacts when his true record is open for the public to to see. stay tune its coming.
oh! Couldn't Obama stay a little longer? ......................Like after the November election.
WELCOME HOME MR OBAMA...YOU SHOWED THE WORLD AND THE WORLD SHOWED YOU WHY YOU WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I AM PROUD TO BE AN AFRICAN AMERICAN.
OBAMA!!!!! YES WE WILL!!!
That was a genius idea...to head off to meet with our European allies,
McCain criticizes Obama for not going to meet the allies then when he does he fouls mouth him too. Guess it's a "senior moment". God luck,Barack!!!
God bless you
Good. Although watching all of this live was exciting and he accomplished exactly what he needed to do and was forced to do, its time for him to get home and focus on the economy, the economy, the economy. Pick your running mate, get on your bus and head out together to the hearland. People want specifics. What are you SPECIFICALLY going to do to get people back to work, get money in the pockets, gas in their tank. These are the main topics. Sen. Obama can visit wounded veterans after he gets elected. Although a Vist to Veteran families like at Ft. Hood, Texas would't hurt make up for the canceled visit in Germany. Welcome Back Senator Obama. Job well done. Now let's get you elected.
Just an absolutely outstanding week. Obama has shown that he has the intellect, the ability, the values, and the judgment to represent us on the world stage. He has the ability to rebuild and extend our alliances, and in so doing, will move the U.S.'s agenda forward in the international community. If anyone had doubts about his capability before, this last week should help ease those concerns. He IS the real deal.
Berlin, you can't have Obama because we need him here in the U.S.A. Great going Obama and Welcome home.
Oh goody, maybe he can focus on some of the problems we are having here, maybe he could spend some of his time in the Senate, doing the job he was elected to do. I hope in doesn't interfere with his rock star schedule, but one would hope he could pay attention to high fuel costs, the housing crisis, the cost of groceries, or are those subject way to mundane for the man who's picture is on the cover of people. We need a leader, not a celebrity!
Good job, and get some rest so you can tell that old man off lol
Dear Obama:
Welcome home. I just admired your humble nature to communicate your message to the world's citizen God bless you always.. .
Here's hoping he gets a chance to stop by some small town diners in Michigan, Colorado, North Carolina, and Ohio when he gets back. The people need to know the man even better.
Obama has shown himself far more capable than McLaugh. He didn't make a single misstep through his trip, and even the conservative commentators on the McLaughlin group this week noted the trip was a resounding success.
Welcome back Mr. President.
Thanks for reminding the world what a great nation we are.
Now let's start the work to defeat backward thinking in this country (McCain and his horde of followers)
Job well done, O. Time to bring it home...
Glad he'll be back to give JM a lesson in diplomacy. I'm proud to be living at this time, at this moment in history. Whether you guys want Obama to win or lose; he has changed the way in which the world look at America, and for that I have nothing but love for him. WELCOME HOME SENATOR........................................................
The job you seek is 24/7, with no OT.................................but plenty of "pitfalls".................so rest up, 1/20/2009 is "real" and it's coming!
MCCAIN SAID HE WOULD WAIT TILL HE IS PRESIDENT BEFORE GOING TO GERMANY. I WONDER WHY- SO HE COULD RENT A CROWN WITH AMERICA'S MONEY TO CHEER HIM ON. MC, WHY NOT NOW?
