(CNN) – Barack Obama likes to stress his willingness to work across party lines, but Republican Sen. Larry Craig probably isn't the Illinois senator's top choice when it comes to showcasing his bipartisan credentials.

But campaign buttons mistakenly featuring those two politicians surfaced over the weekend under the Obama campaign's motto "Change You Can Believe In," according to CNN Idaho affiliate KPVI.

The buttons, created by an Ohio-based company called Tigereye Design, was supposed to feature Obama alongside the Democratic Senate candidate in Idaho, Larry LaRocco. A retired editor for the Lewiston Tribune noticed the mistaken buttons and printed them in Sunday's edition.

LaRocco's campaign says the buttons weren't ordered by them, but rather a commercial firm that sells campaign memorabilia.

Craig, who was arrested last year for allegedly soliciting sex in an airport men's room, is not running for reelection.

What's the matter Obamabots, did the dirty scoundrels in Ohio, hit a HOT button here. Mistakes do happen. The worst mistake will be electing Obama as President.

This looks about right.

I think McMole would be a better match for Craig. Same party, etc.

Carl Rove's initials are no doubt on the reverse side of the buttons.

A few predictions for reality impaired people:

1) Obama will likely be elected president.

2) He will be subject to the same limitations as any other holder of the office (see article one and two of the U.S. Constitution).

3) George W. Bush will simply go back to Crawford at the end of his term. He will not be charged with any crimes, just as he has not been impeached.

4) No matter who is elected president there will be enemies of the United States, who could care less which party is in office, who will seek to hurt us.

5) Day to day life in the United States will be more or less the same in 2012 as it is now.

The Lady   July 28th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

I hope Tigereye designs goes out of business, this is bad business. I guess the Republican NursingHome Committee did not take pointers from the Clintons that the voters are not interested in this kind of garbage.

What a BS story!!!
It is obvious that CNN and the other networks are falling into

Why don't they show the pictures of McCain hugging Craig and Craig hugging Bush??????
These were ordered by the racist FOX news network!!!

So? Didn't Obama get busted in a limo with a guy prostitute? I seem to remember a story about that.

He and Craig should get along.

Mark Lodes   July 28th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

Is this really a news story? Or is it proof that money can get your insulting innuendo's across through the mainstream media for you? Why would anyone print these buttons? Why would anyone accidentally misprint them? Why would anyone jump at the chance to expose such misprinted buttons to the media? If John McCain were on a misprinted button next to Larry Craig, would that make the news?

sad sad sad day.

God Bless the good, loving, and caring people

Noans, South Pasadena   July 28th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Just more Republican, right wing, midwestern Christian values! It's funny that Republicans won't confront their own, Senator Larry Craig, for his lewd and illegal bathroom antics but they'll use Craig to try and smear Obama. Hey Republicans, Larry Craig is one of your "boys," remember.

This really is funny. Like one post said, the button is an appeal from the gay community to vote for Obama. Thanks, Ohio. And we thought you guys were homophobic. LOL

Nestor, Austin, TX   July 28th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

It's funny how so many people here are complaining about how 'unfairly' Obama is being treated. Obama is getting 85% of the news in this election, yet his coverage is apparently 'unfair' to the liberals in America. The first commentor here said 'right wing public radio' yet tries to make the inference that conservatives are brainwashed. The 'Public Radio' is NPR and is liberal as all get out. The 'Public Television' is PBS and also is liberal. So-called 'Right Wing Talk Radio' is private and run by the free-market. Their ratings are up because the free market works, unlike the drivel on NPR. But liberals want to take away Fox News and Talk Radio, even though it is market based. They have 85% of the media, but apparently that's not enough since liars like Gore and Kerry couldn't get elected, and no matter how much press Obama gets he can't build a sizeable lead against a very weak candidate in McCain.

Before you Obamanuts get your underwear in a knot, this was an honest mistake from a firm that's based in Ohio that doesn't know which Senator from Idaho to picture. KE   July 28th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

This Democratic presidential primary season has caused so much pain already. A fact that a young senator (who was unknown till few years ago) who is only a presumptive Democratic nominee is going around the world speaking as though he represents America (and the world) is not a very good picture. You wonder whose fault is it, and then we just picture a dysfunctional government. The approval rating of the congress is below 10% yet no one seems too distressed about it, it’s dysfunctional all around. Both Republicans and Democrats are invisible.

McCain is a lone voice but we started to hear him well. Both McCain and Hillary sustained clear voice and I hope they both will keep it clear. McCain is much more careful with the media now. We learned so much from watching the way the American media treated Hillary Clinton (I can’t still believe how they got away with it… but we will remember).

Felice Judkins   July 28th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

This is a sad commentary on our political system. We have young men and women dying in a foreign country so that those people can vote in a democratic system. How shameful and loathesome have we become as a nation to try to denegrate a fellow citizen for running for the Presidency. If you don't want to vote for Obama based on his policies and political views then don't vote for him. It is sad to read some of the vile and nasty comments about this man and truth be told it is SIMPLY BECAUSE HE IS BLACK and you come off with all of this foolishness to justify your rabid racist hearts. I was a Hillary supporter who is enthusiastically voting for Obama because we need a change in this country. Bush and Cheny need to be in jail and McCain does not have a clue. Although I don't agree with McCain I would not try to personally attack this man simply for sport. You wonder why our nation is in such shambles and it is not only the government that has failed us but also WE THE PEOPLE need to examine our own hearts and what role we have played in being complacent. Much of this negativity against Obama is shrouded in the most insidiuos poison in our country and that is racsim. I applaud the man for at least have the guts to stand up and say we can do better as a nation and to try to make a difference. What have you done lately to make a difference in your family, in your community, in your city in your state in OUR Nation. If you want to vote for mcCain because you believe in his policies then vote for him,; we are still a free nation. Stop the silly and childish name calling and stupid and ignorant rants that make us look like a Super Power that is losing our luster and position in the world. We've had 8 years of corruption, unjust wars, economy in the tank, people can't afford to live and if you want to continue those policies and if McCain wins, you don't have a right to complain. I would rather take a chance on a new fresh beginnig than to continue down the same dark path we've been on for years. it is time for a change. If you are an intelligent adult then have an intelligent argument and point of view and stop sounding like children in the schoolyard fighting over a ball. Grow UP!

It's amazing how these "accidents" happen. No one with any brains buys it for a second. Do you really expect anyone to believe a company that makes political buttons could put the image of a bathroom stall cowboy next to Obama's by accident? Even so, I want one of these buttons. It'll be worth maybe $3.00 in about 10 years....oh....that's right..that's how much they cost now...ah..nevermind.

This is off the subject, but I note there are several Hillary supporters STILL playing the broken record that Obama can't win without Hillary.
Looks like he's doing just fine without her. Have you actually been paying attention? Except for a day or two a couple of weeks ago, she's been missing in action. I'm not sure I'd want someone as my right-hand woman (VP) who is a no show, anyway. And no, kids, she did not win the popular vote (no matter what the cuckoo statistics on the PUMA site say). She did not win the majority of delegates. She did not win the majority of superdelegates. She lost. End of story. Deal with it.

For the past 7+ years George and his buddies have made fools of all the hard working citizens of this country. They are departing from their position leaving this country Billions of dollars in debt – a debt we all (republicans and demoncrates) will be paying off for the next 200
+ years. And one of their half brain decides having this pen made was cute/funny. I hope that they find it funny when we the citizens start having them arrested for stealing from us.

All you PUMAs, aka Republicans. Ask yourself: Do you really want McCain as President for 4 years? He has a Geo Bush personality. An old frat boy, who almost flunked out of the academy, has only gotten this far (first) due to family connections and (second) a rich wife. He is disrespectful of women, including his wife - yes the same as W - have you ever noticed the body language between W and Laura. He's always running away from her or they are ignoring each other.. Anyway, good for Hillary. I'm proud of her. She has a lot to give to the country. She lost because she ran an awful campaign and was hubris. But she is a mature person who looks forward and not backward.

Anybody who voted against making English the language of the United States is not fit to be Commander-in-Chief. If you check the record of Obama you will see he voted against English as our national language in an ammendment to immigration bill 1348 on June 6, 2007. Obama, KEEP THE CHANGE! You are qualified to be our Commander-in-SHEEP! Thanks for your service FUTURE PRESIDENT MCCAIN!!

Well, well, well, I knew that I did not like the Republicans for some reason and this is the reason why. Them ( the republicans) and the rest of the dirty dogs are nipping at the heels of Obama because they are afraid of any one that have a brain and can think for themselves. The younger generation are a smart lot and they don't need someone dictating to them who to vote for and to listen to the lies of the older people. This is how Hitler won.

That's right; blame the Republicans. What idiots you people are. If by some chance Obama wins, we will see who's talking after he takes office and we are in a real mess. Yes, people need to research the candidates and not be influenced by the liberal news outles, ie; CNN, MSNBC and others. Liberals they are. And most of their anchors were educated at liberal colleges by liberal left wing professors who would do anything to undermine the government. Obama needs to be stopped at all costs and by whatever means necessary.

McCain and the Republicans have no shame. And McCain is far from principled with his andhis party's dirty tricks and lies about Obama even in his most recent ad on Obama. The man looked Presidential amongst the World's Who is Who!!!!!
He has all it takes to be President of the United States of America.

wonder if the "someone" who ordered those buttons is from the RNC or a friend of Karl Rove? Just the sort of thing they would do. Too bad this election has become another trove of name-calling. Artlicles galore on the difficulties of being black, bringing up racism over and over, nothing at all on the limitations caused by advancing age. Odd, isn't it? Both of these guys are going to make mistakes in speaking that don't mean much – but McCain is still fighting the cold war and Vietnam in his head and that's way more dangerous than someone who takes the time to think things through and understands that the commander-in-chief has to balance all of the potential war theaters, not just one. Show me the nation that has won any war on four fronts (Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran)? We simply don't have the power to do what McCain wants to do. Clearly he is the one who "doesn't understand."

From soldier4Obama
"IT IS TIME TO TEAR DOWN THE WALLS OF FEAR, LIES, POVERTY, HATE, RACISM, SEXISM, TEAR DOWN THE WALL, OBAMA 2008"

What are your thoughts on Obama attending a racist anti American Church for twenty years and letting his children attend the hate church too? What does this say about his character? What are your thoughts on Obama displaying the endorsement from the Black Panthers on his campaign website? Could you imagine if McCain had an endorsement from the KKK? What about Obama's comment on "Typical White Person" or "Clinging to guns and religion". Could you imagine if McCain said “Typical Black Person” and “clinging to BBQ Ribs and Watermelon”? What about the time when Obama lied on national TV that he never was in the congregation when there were controversial remarks being said, then a couple of weeks later on national TV said he was there? Liar! What about him consistently changing his views from left to center to win votes? Obama pushes FEAR every day to the American people with the economy, fuel, and Iraq yet he has no real plan just talk.

I used to have respect for Obama in the beginning and thought he was about Change and Hope, but now I think Rev. Wright was right about one thing when he said, “Obama is a typical politician who will sliver to the left or right to get what he wants”.

Obama is a racist, anti American, a liar, a typical politician, a hater, someone who pushes fear on the American people and should resign immediately.

Jenny, Rio Vista, CA   July 28th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

This country is going down the tubes and we have people saying they will vote for McCain because Hillary lost the nomination, we have McCain calling his opponent a traitor and the usual "does not support the troops" crap. We have McWar joking about bombing Iran and killing Iranians with cigarettes. We have McSenile telling the media that he knows where Bin Laden is but doesn't want to spill the beans.. what does that mean... is he risking the chance of another attack against becoming the hero.......??? We have people calling Barack scary because the world seems to like him. We have McFart telling us that he knows nothing about the economy but people who are in financial difficulty claiming they trust him. His advisors are someone who caused the Enron debacle and the woman who got fired by HP because she nearly put them out of business. Wow!! some people in America are really really stupid.

Matt: honestly   July 28th, 2008 2:50 pm ET

Freida

You have been misinformed. I am not voting for McCain due to his stance on the war in Iraq, Iran, foreign policy in general, on abortion, the economy, and giving the basic freedoms that American's should have. If you are a true democrat, or Hillary supporter you would do the same. It is about the issues, not personal grudges or age.

Roofin Reality, Houston, Tx.   July 28th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

Do you think that John McSurge did not know about this. The GOP is low enough to use their own people in their smear scandles.

Vote for McSurge
Vote for McSurge

Timber (ex dem),

McCain was NOT beaten! He received his injuries from the plane crash, and then squealed like a pig for help from the Vietnamese military. After then he help them as much as he could to debase our POWs there. Why is it that he only gets support from a handful of Vietnam vets? They remember who he is and what he did to them. McCain is NO hero. He is a traitor and has extorted the Vietnamese government into closing the records on our MIAs to protect knowledge of his treason against the USA. Ho hopes to make up for his evil ways by, "winning," the Iraqi war that he helped start. He was one of the original five who proposed attacking Iraq.

I have a hard time believing this was a "mistake". Whose Republican pocket do you think the button designer was in? It certainly goes well with the usual Republican campaign strategy: insist on similarities between one's opponent and something negative (despite any evidence) enough times that the general public starts to believe it.

KMAN   July 28th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

I don't think Obama has ever emphasized working across party lines quite to the extent that McCain has claimed he does. Since Larry Craig is a GOP Senator ... I'm sure he will gladly place his tapping toes next to his fellow and equally repugnant GOP colleague! McCain has flipped on everything else ... so, I’m sure he’ll do the same for good ole’ Larry as well! After all ... it's ANYTHING to win for our VERY SENIOR Senator from AZ.

Dr. Sam   July 28th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Come on McSurge or RNC, nice try, but another pathetic attempt to try to stick something negative to Senator Obama's excellent campaign. Senator Obama is a happily married man, with a wonderful wife and two beautiful children – just check People Magazine, Newsweek, Fortune, Essence, I can go on and on. The attempt to continue to smear Senator Obama is TRULY PATHETIC AND DESPERATE.

5,4,3,2,1............here comes all of the usual suspects, Texas Trail Dog, Griff, Mike of Syracuse, PUMA, Lisa and the other Obama haters, to try to put some type of "underlying" motive as to why and how this button somehow relates to Senator Obama or some other falsehood, rather than seeing it for what it is, another attempt at a SMEAR toward our soon to be Commander-in-Chief, Senator Obama. FIGHT THE SMEAR; log onto Senator Obama's website and see the real truths about Senator Obama, not these dishonorable smear tactics!

Advice to my democrat friends today Gullup tracking shows obama ahead by 8 pts and Democracy corp. shows +5 pts. but Rasmussen and Foxnews shows +3 and +1 pts respectively what does this tell you conservatives are trying make Mccain better that he looks they are trying to decive the American People it is not going to work this time.

You American can really pick em. No wonder your Presidents always end up being jokes once they leave your shores.

Independent Voter   July 28th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

This is fun. Obama is such a jerk. These two who don't ever quite tell the truth deserve each other. I'm sure they'll get along great! (Maybe they already do.) We all know Mr. Obama would do JUST ABOUT ANYTHING to get elected...

And as for Hillary – she does, indeed, have a day job – and so does Barack if he weren't so full of himself. Braggart-in-Residence.

I can't imagine why any Hillary supporter should cross the street to cast a vote for this man. No one I know will do such a thing. A man of no character and no accomplishment whatsoever – you can't be serious! And Barry doesn't express any interest in Clinton other than her money. So what else is new? The Clintons owe Barack and his gang absolutely nothing. I hope they only give lip service to this charleton and are way too busy to appear with him or for him.

Even Democrats figure out when they've screwed sooner or later. I don't know that I can say that about the DNC, though.

I don't trust this guy for one minute to do anything that is not self serving. McCain is right about Obama.

soldier4OBAMA   July 28th, 2008 2:04 pm ET

This is beyond funny. Larry Craig a pediphile republican, who play with men in public restrooms. The issue with republicans is that they klive in a moral world, where they get sucked in by their own lies.

CHANGE is realizing that we have choices, that we can listen to the lies or we can seek, truth and find reasoning. We as citizens of America and citizens of the world have now opened our "thrid eye" we have been blinded for too long by the "kniowledge" that the others have been feeding us. The CHANGE we seek is to replace the prism of knoledge with the TRUTH, the LIGHT is there for us all to grasp. OBAMA and Clinton knows that we will not be able to do it alone, it is time to end politics in Washington as usual, OBAMA-RICHARDSON, OBAMA-CLINTON, OBAMA-HAGEL, OBABA-CHANGE-TRUTH-HOPE-LOVE!

IT IS TIME TO TEAR DOWN THE WALLS OF FEAR, LIES, POVERTY, HATE, RACISM, SEXISM, TEAR DOWN THE WALL, OBAMA 2008!

Just how niave does the McCain and the republican party think we are? This was no mistake – just more of the low level campaigning thats become a trademark of McCain, Bush and their pals in the republican party.

Capt. Smash, Salt Lake City, Utah   July 28th, 2008 1:54 pm ET

America's brain washing continues sponsored by Fox News, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and America's Right Wing Public Radio.

The majority of American people do not know how to investigate and learn for there own insight. Everything that the media outlets listed above presents to America it must be gospel. If Fox News said Obama was Japanese 55% of the American people would believe it.

Further, if you ask them how do they know that? They would say I read on the internet or I heard it on Fox News. Those people are so closed minded they refuse to listen to another view point. Fox News wants to demonize Obama as someone evil and out of touch with America and someone who is un-patriotic. So of course; a lot of Americans just follow along with the crowd and say, OK, Dah, Ok.

Thank God some Americans will at least give this man a fair chance to make his case for the presidency of the United States of America.
