Moveon is hitting the airwaves with a new ad.

(CNN) – A liberal advocacy group is targeting young voters in a new political television ad that promotes Barack Obama’s presidential bid set to run on MTV and Comedy Central. While MoveOn.org never states Obama’s name in the ad, it uses a campaign slogan the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee often repeats on the campaign trail: “Hope.”

WATCH: MoveOn's new ad

“Hope: It Could Happen to You,” parodies advertisements frequently directed to younger television viewers about the ill effects of drug use and abuse. Instead, of trying to scare its target audience away from making it a habit to use drugs, the ad suggests that Obama’s message of hope is a positive habit.

MoveOn.org announced Monday that it will spend $150,000 to run the ad for one week on both networks, which cater to younger voters.

Last week, MTV aired its first ever political ad, according to a report by MTV News. “Both Ways Barack,” targeted Sen. Barack Obama and suggested the presumptive Democratic nominee holds inconsistent positions on various issues at the same time.

Guy 1: I never thought it could happen to me.

Girl 1: I've been living with it for awhile now.

Guy 2: I got it from her.

Guy 3: I mean, this could happen to anybody.

Girl 2: Anybody.

Guy 4: I have hope.

Guy 5: Hope.

Guy 6: Yeah, it's true.

Guy 1: I'm sorry mom, I'm sorry.

Guy 7: For eight years...

Girl 2: we all thought it was gone.

Girl 1: And now it's back.

VO: Hope. It could happen to you.

Girl 3: This is your brain...

Guy 2: and this is your brain on hope.

I sure hope so.

MoveOn has done much better.

The "young" people in this country that are going to vote for Obama need to look at the issues and what each candidate is saying instead of making "Old McSame" comments. The problem with what I have seen from his supporters are they have never had a job, never paid taxes, and have no idea how the world rotates. Remember the adage, "the older I get the smarter my parents are." Don't be fooled by the speeches. Don't you wonder why Obama won't debate in a town hall meetings? Don't you want real questions from real people which would require real answers? No more scripted meaningless speeches!!! Obama is a chicken at the debate podium and certainly would be one in national security issues.

Texas trail puppy!   July 28th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

McSame: " I know how to win WARS". "I know how to catch BIN LADEN". "Did I also mention that I know how to spell S-U-R-G-E", and on and on he goes where he will stop nobody KNOWS.

Not sure who did but it is brilliant!

To the Obama advisors.
This is the kind of stuff that will win you elections.

Don't stoop to "their" low standards nor the disgrace that they bring to "democracy".

If the candidate wins and can't deliver, its the end of the Democratic Party and the demise of the American media, who will have no credibility to stand on.

If anybody thinks any of our allies or enemies overseas will be crying their eyes out over that, I have got news for you.

FISA leaves me with plenty of doubt.

I've seen it and it is soooooo uplifting compared to the depressing ads the republicans run. Times they are a changing!!! Out with old and in with the new. Go Obama!!

Love the ad! We need SOME hope with the DISASTER that Bush/Cheney & Co., are leaving us! $10 TRILLION IN NATIONAL DEBT.
WE are making payments to the tune of $200 BILLION!

THE BUSH/CHENEY PEOPLE JUST RELEASED THE DEFICIT NUMBER FOR 2009: $490 BILLION........NOT.......COUNTING THE ADDITIONAL $80 BILLION THEY NEED FOR THE IRAQ WAR!

But you, conservatives, go ahead and vote for more of the same with good old McCain. GOD HELP US!

Rick   July 28th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

You're going to have to make your message much more obvious than that for the MTV crowd....those airheads will never figure this one out.

Max Cohen   July 28th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

A few predictions for reality impaired people:

1) Obama will likely be elected president.

2) He will be subject to the same limitations as any other holder of the office (see article one and two of the U.S. Constitution).

3) George W. Bush will simply go back to Crawford at the end of his term. He will not be charged with any crimes, just as he has not been impeached.

4) No matter who is elected president there will be enemies of the United States, who could care less which party is in office, who will seek to hurt us.

5) Day to day life in the United States will be more or less the same in 2012 as it is now.

Mike in NYC   July 28th, 2008 6:16 pm ET

Pretty silly ad, IMHO.

If this actually appeals to twenty-somethings, I’ll no longer have to wonder why I can’t relate to kids today.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast. Not exactly breaking news.

SOUTHERN HOTTIE   July 28th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

I LOVE IT!!!!

Wendy   July 28th, 2008 6:13 pm ET

Yah, this ad makes a lot of sense. McCain: A vote for despair. Don't let Hope get to you like it did me.

Enlightened Voter   July 28th, 2008 6:10 pm ET

Keep them coming because mccain and the repuglicans are doing any and everything to LIE to America just to get mccain elected. Whenever people resort to the negative they have nothing else. Barack has managed to stay positive while all we hear from john is bashing and criticizing.

Christina   July 28th, 2008 5:22 pm ET

lol – people just don't get it! The more you shove Obama down throats, the less people will vote for him. We've seen enough about HOPE!

Obama will not have my vote... you better keep hoping for it come November with millions of Americans that feel the same way.

leapfrog   July 28th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Hope as a postive virus...novel concept. I do hope, however, that the Obama camp is not banking on the youth vote. Every election that has ever occurred shows very poor demographics for young voters.

YES WE CAN!   July 28th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

hahaha that is awesome.

Val from MA   July 28th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

Good luck with this ad. And by the way, MoveOn.org is hated by majority of American people so it's not going to help with Obama's rating. In fact, his rating may just go down as the result.

Walter, Long Beach   July 28th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

MoveON should follow up its "Your Brain on Hope" ad with one about "Your Country on McCain."

After all these years of Republican lies, smears, and dirty tricks, this Democrat is now a believer in the power of negative campaigning.

CW4Barak   July 28th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

Way to go.....the more the merrier. I am going to donate $20 right now to Moveon!

“Both Ways Barack” ..... (sigh)...

that is REALLY corny....

further proof, Republics should NEVER attempt humor......

James Hussein, SC   July 28th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Timber (ex dem),

McCain was NOT beaten! He received his injuries from the plane crash, and then squealed like a pig for help from the Vietnamese military. After then he help them as much as he could to debase our POWs there. Why is it that he only gets support from a handful of Vietnam vets? They remember who he is and what he did to them. McCain is NO hero. He is a traitor and has extorted the Vietnamese government into closing the records on our MIAs to protect knowledge of his treason against the USA. He hopes to make up for his evil ways by, "winning," the Iraqi war that he helped start. He was one of the original five who proposed attacking Iraq.

STILL FOR HILL   July 28th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

I think the naive college students are already in the tank for you Obama. You already promised them free college educations and optional health insurance. What else could they ask for?

Oh yeah, jobs.... Good luck America.

Obama=On the job training

Didn't we already have that with Bush? It's funny how a great speech can swade so many.

Hillary 08 or McCain if necessary

Moveon.org is spending $150,000 to get this ad on TV ... and you've just doubled their ROI by giving it about $150,000 worth of free coverage on your network.

When can we expect a similar coverage of a McCain ad?

Ian   July 28th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Interesting that they would choose to parody an ad about drugs, considering Obama's past use.

Lola   July 28th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

This younger voter is among 18,000,000 of Hillary supporter. She will not be fooled by Obama campaign!

Deb, Allentown, PA   July 28th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

Love, love, love this ad. And there's not a NEGATIVE sentiment in the whole thing.

What sorts of ads do we see on McCain's behalf? Whining, finger-pointing, sour grapes, stridency and negativity.

Obama = Hope

MikeH   July 28th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

Dumb. Reminds me of a Kerry ad, or a Dukakis ad.

Republican saboteur operatives must have infiltrated MoveOn's ad-writing department.

EDW   July 28th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

I keep saying that the 35 and younger group are not being polled correctly because we usually only use our cell phones. 90% of my friends are voting for Obama, however many of them don't use landlines at home. I believe his lead is much higher than is stated.

Will in Richmond, VA   July 28th, 2008 5:08 pm ET

Cute.

Kelby from Houston, TX   July 28th, 2008 5:08 pm ET

I want my country back so bad. I hope that these ads work in favor of Barrack Obama and the Democratic party. By the way, I really hope that the Democrats do not abandon the battle for Senate seats. I think that gaining control of the Senate is crucial to getting this country back where it belongs- AT THE TOP BABY!!!

Wisest one of All   July 28th, 2008 5:07 pm ET

There is no hope with Hussein Nobama. He is an al qaeda plant. Anybody who supports this racist terrorist must hate the United States as much as Nobama.

The problem with the whole election process is that too many children are encouraging their moms.

Their moms ought to stand up for the most qualified for President.
Forget the American Idol attitude.
