Watch Ben Stein's comments on the 2008 election.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Ben Stein says he knows how Sen. John McCain can win in November: Karl Rove.

That's right, that Karl Rove.

At a time when McCain is seeking to distance himself from President Bush, Stein argues McCain needs to enlist Bush's chief political guru in order to defeat Sen. Barack Obama.

Ron L   July 28th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Ben Stien is just saying what all of us already know...
You need a MUDSLIINGER that will LIE, CHEAT, or STEAL to win. That is how we got our current President and look what GREAT shape everyone making under $50,000 a year is in. These people like Ben Stein make my stomach turn. They are so PRO trickle down ecomonics because they ..
DON'T HAVE TO LIVE OFF OF THE TRICKLE...THEY GET THE GRAVY.

Linda Esen   July 28th, 2008 3:36 pm ET

Doris,Memphis,TN   July 28th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

John McCain is just too old and bitter to become President.
He whines non stop.

Joan, Ontario   July 28th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

This really says something about the McCain campaign and organization if a good friend and fellow Rebublican calls it "heartbreakingly pathetic". If the only way he can get it going is to use someone who is a master of "smears and fears" then that shows that he cannot win fair and square and run an honorable campaign. Have you all noticed that the McCain camp is already resorting to constant attack, attack, attack tactics instead of being proactive and coming up with solutions of their own. Does the American public really want another president who was elected under these circumstances? I hope they have learned their lesson on that.

Again, this recession is REAL. Hotels are full because there are people living in them after being kicked out of their homes "TRUE STATEMENT". Airlines are full because they are flying less planes "TRUE STATEMENT". High end shops are full of Europeans taking advantage of the weak dollar "TRUE STATEMENT". Wal-Mart is really, really full because people are trying to get more for their money. The highways are NOT full according to various state troopers and triple A. Trains are full in the cities, because people have stopped driving their cars due to high gas prices and are now using public transportation.

I'm sick of these out of touch Conservatives telling the rest of us what we're NOT feeling.

former republican white man from california for Obama   July 28th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Bring him on! The republicans are no so stupid as they were in 2004 we are starting to wake up and realize we have been lied to one to many times! The largest and most nasty of lies coming from that fat swine Carl Rove! Go Ahead make Sen Obama's job much more easy that would get a blow out of historic proportions. Then again the other republicans I have been talking to are also starting to wake up. Why the heck would are great party put for such a dunce after the great mistake we made with Bush. Then again the Republican party is not what it used to be. It was about being conservative financially so no so much over the top Right wing nut conservative. Bring back the days a Regan! This party today is a joke!
