Clinton holds 'retirement dinner' contest

Clinton's campaign advertises a chance to win dinner with the senator.
Clinton's campaign advertises a chance to win dinner with the senator.

(CNN) – No, she’s not leaving politics, but she is still trying to retire more than $25 million of campaign debt.

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s Web site is advertising a contest to win a summer “retirement dinner” with the former presidential contender. The price for a chance to win is a contribution to her creditors.

“Summer is a time for simple pleasures: family vacations, baseball games, and dinner out under the stars,” Clinton’s e-mail to supporters says. “At least it is if you aren't running for president! It sure is nice having a little more time on my hands, and I'd love to spend some of it with you.”

Those interested in helping Clinton retire the debt can pay from $10 to more than $2,300 for a chance to win the dinner and “talk about whatever you’d like.” The campaign’s site doesn’t say where the winner will dine with the senator, but it mentions that round-trip transportation and the total value may run $3,000.

According to the latest filing with the Federal Elections Commission, as of June 30 Clinton is $25 million in debt, over $13 million of which is owed to herself.

hey PUMA...quick question, as an advent Obama supporter who has contributed to retire Mrs. Clinton's debt, how come it keeps getting bigger? Obama keeps getting more and more donations from his supporters, where are those Clinton supporters? if you really "believe" in Clinton, that she would have made a great President why are you not helping her? it seems to me that IF you spent more time donating to your candidate instead of spewing your hate on this and other blogs about Obama, may be then Mrs. Clinton would have had a snowballs chance in hell being VP. this is your fault, not Obama's

  13. Anyone but hillary!

ok you puma/pac babes, here's your chance to put your money where your bitter mouths have been. You guys love her so much pay off her debt that she accumulated in her power hungry grab for the wh. She mismanaged her campaign and it's finances and yet you guys wanted her to run your country. Incredible! She won't get a dime from me, she can pay off her own debt with her and bills 109 million.

You tell your "supporters" to stop slamming Obama every chance they get including those "PUMA" idiots and I will actually donate $1,200 to your debt reduction Hillary. Every time I get over my anger at the constant Anti-Obama hate I hear on these blogs, some idiot starts up about Obama being "arrogant" or an "empty suit" or some other stupid @55 remark and I get mad all over again. I know a lot of Repugnican trolls come on here pretending to be Hillary supporters to do just that, but some of those posting here in hate really are her supporters. I will help you but you better help Obama or it will be the ONLY donation of that size you will get from me.

if hillary clinton had gotten out of the race when she lost she would not be in so much debt. she knew what she was doing and stayed in the race just to hurt obama. she said nasty things about him that is now being used by McCain against him. shame on her. shame on all the losers that are still out there thinking hillary will rise from the ashes and regain her right to the throne. let her get herself out of debt, my money goes toward obama that made it without not only any help from her but made it in spite of her. let her PUMA girls pay for her bad judgement and misuse of funds!

I have contributed much to Hillary Clinton and would have loved to see her as president, however, since she has endorsed Obama she is on her own.

I'm an avid Obama supporter, but I'll send $5.00. I want to send most to Obama. He needs to beat McCain (who sold out to big oil last week).

If I win, I'll sell the round trip, etc., to whomever is truly a NICE Hillary supporter. I'll let you know if I win, and we can discuss details.

I'd feel better if she posted the names of the vendors that she owes money to along with their respective balances. That way, the poor vendors (especially the small businesses) would finally be compensated.

Michelle Obama is flip-flopping now by saying she likes Hillary. This is the same woman who stated she would not vote for Hillary is she was the Presidential nominee.
