Obama headed into the office building of VP vetter Monday.

(CNN) – In a sign Barack Obama may be moving closer to selecting a running mate, the Democratic presidential candidate was spotted Monday heading into the Washington office building of his top VP vetter, Eric Holder

Following a roundtable with some of his top economic advisors, Obama headed to the downtown Washington law offices of Covington and Burling, where Holder is a partner. He declined to answer any questions on his way in.

CNN Political Market: Who will Obama choose?

Holder, along with Caroline Kennedy, is principally in charge of steering the Illinois senator's search for a No. 2. Longtime Washington insider Jim Johnson had also been leading the search but stepped down last month amid questions over favorable loans from Countrywide Financial.

Caroline Kennedy is also reportedly in Washington Monday for a Democratic National Committee fundraising event.

Obama's campaign wouldn't comment on the meeting, though he's expected to spend nearly two hours there before heading to a fundraiser in Arlington. Obama campaign manager David Plouffe, as well as senior advisers David Axelrod and Robert Gibbs, are also traveling with Obama Monday, though it is unclear if they are attending the meeting.

Speaking with NBC Sunday, Obama wouldn't say how close he is to selecting his running mate, but said it would happen "soon enough."

“I'm going to want somebody with integrity. I'm going to want somebody with independence, who's willing to tell me where he thinks or she thinks I'm wrong, and I'm - I'm going to want somebody who shares a vision of the country where we need to go, that we've got to fundamentally change not only our policies, but how our politics works, how business is done in Washington,” he said.

UPDATE: Obama left Holder's office building shortly before 7 p.m. ET, almost three hours after he went in. He declined to answer any questions on who he met with.

Obama's words, "I'm going to want someone with integrity."

That leaves him out!

Gov. Tim Kaine will do just fine. The devisiveness among NY Dems brought Hillary Clinton to NY. It is the same spirit of contention that is keeping Kaine ahead of Clinton in the veep stakes. Kaine and Obama is close in age but Virginia will be purple enough to be blue if Kaine is on the ticket. Kaine may also give Obama clout with the defense industry based in Virginia. So be it!

A sure winning ticket for Senator Obama will be the following:

Obama-Hagel: Will cruise thru like a cool breeze even with Independant voters. No more of these nonsenses about Patriotism

Obama-Biden: Will silence McCain Camp about all these speculations about Foreign Policy credential

Obama-Sam Nunn: He's an older Gentleman but he can deliver Georgia State along with a host of Foreign Policy expertises

Obama-Sibelius: Could boost the margin of all the Crazy White women that Hillary was talking about along with some good Economic sound judgment.

All the rest of them Fools, they can strenghtening the Cabinet by holding some key important post.

For all these people talking about No Hillary No vote, you're nothing but a fool because Hillary is like John McCain, same old Washington insiders that steer this great Nation on the wrong track like we are today. Please think about the future of America before you talk.

I don't know much about the Governor of Virginia. Like Obama he is fairly new to the national scene.. However Kaine would probably put Virginia in the Obama column.

Most pundits don't thing the VP matters. However I believe it does. It helps solidify undecided or leaning voters. Geographically, it can balance the ticket . If the presidential candidate is perceived in experienced in a certain policy area the right VP can make a difference.

I personally belive that if JFK hadn't chosen LBJ for VP. Kennedy would have lost Texas and the election.

My personal choice is Joe Biden for VP; Bill Richardson for Secretary of State; John Edwards for Attorney General; Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense; Mike Shea for Secretary of Labor; Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton for HUD Secretary, Warren Buffett for Secretary of Treasury; Dennis Kucinich for Secretary of Commerce and Hillary Clinton as White House Secretary( She could give tours of the white house and she knows where all the bathrooms are at).

Barack Obama – Presdient
Sam Nunn – Vice President

Jonmann   July 29th, 2008 12:08 pm ET

Once and for all get over the fact that HRC will not be picked for the VP job. This will be no fault of her own. The problem is not Hillary, it is the baggage of Bill Clinton. If you recall an earlier speech from Mr. Obama, he mentioned that there can only be one president in the WH at a time. Does this tell you something about why he can not pick Hillary.
______________________________________________________

Can someone please explain or define experience as it relates to running for the office of president of the USA? General Clarke took a lot of heat simply by saying that being in the military does not necessarily qualify you to be president. He is correct. There are two issues that need be considered if you are a McCain fan. While in the military was he ever in the position of leadership of more than a handful of people and did he make decisions that would affect others and at the same time impact our military position or affect another country? The second point is this, the military is not a democracy, you do not vote on issues, therefore you do not get opposing views. How does that in anyway qualify anyone to be president.

Experience is a great thing, but final decisions are what we have to live with. Knowledge does not necessarily breed Wisdom, nor does Experience necessarily breed good decision making. Ask yourself this question, upon all of the alledged experience Sen. McCain has, why did he vote to go to Iraq, and why did he say that it would be easy and it would be over very quickly? Is this an example of experience trumps decision making prowess?

Finally, yes Sen. Obama wants to be a change agent when in office, but he has to use the system in its current form to get to that office.

Are you feeling me people???????

norma - Wisconsin   July 29th, 2008 12:06 pm ET

I think its wonderful that Barack has chosen another inexperienced, daughter of a legendary President, who has no experience other than being raised in the White house as a child, to be a considered member of a two-member committee to help him choose his running mate. How "new" and "inexperienced" is that. Did he think that because we all loved the Kennedys that this is an honorable thing to do. What in the world (other than her college degree) would she know who would be the best person to be a vice president.

This country dug a whole for themselves when they made Obama the nominee. Had things been not so one-sided in the media (just as it was recently with Obama in Europe) Hillary would have been the nominee, and she would not have needed a "committee" to help her choose her running mate. This has all been a travesty, and we will end up being the losers. Whether we vote for Obama, or McCain, its the lessor of two evils. Hate has destroyed countries before, and the hate the bloggers showed for Hillary will come back to haunt them.

Olivia   July 29th, 2008 12:06 pm ET

Hillary Clinton is the only one who can help Obama win in Nov.

Reason? It has become obvious to anyone who watch Obama regularly that he has become and probably always have been........a back-slapping, huggy-touching, swaggering, arrogant, palsy-walsy, overconfident, over-ambitious, impatient representative of people like myself.
He may have unique qualities to offer this country, as some believe, but he sure seem to be going over the top to achieve credibility.

Chris, PENN   July 29th, 2008 12:05 pm ET

The media has been asking this question for months now and I'm here to help out with the answer. The media has been asking why...with all the publicity, the buzz, the media support, the money, the great speeches and the world photo op tour is Obama still not running away with a lead in the poll against Mccain?

The answer is simple: John Mccain is very reason why Obama does not have a bigger lead in the polls. You see, to get attention, a buzz, the wow factor and the publicity...all you need are theatrics, noise, bells, whistles, well scripted words, a shinning created image and bigger then life staged show. This Obama has accomplished. However, to get respect and a sense of relation to regular voters, you need time, experience, character and a proven integrity track record. This is something Mccain has that Obama can never obtain via publicists and marketing campaigns. Its simple really....voters knows a commercial when they see one.

It is nice that Mr. Obama is vetting VPs but when will Mr. Obama be vetted and who will take on the challenge.

The DNC has chosen a nominee who is untested and has not been vetted by anyone. With a cloud of mystery surrounding Mr. Obama’s entire life, one must wonder who this man is and what he is trying to hide.

Wolfman   July 29th, 2008 11:59 am ET

I really do not think Obama is going to make much of a difference. After all he has his hands deep in the pockets of the invest banks and the insurance industry.
We need Dennis Kucininch for president. He was the only one talking about the working poor and a LIVABLE wage. The environment. True universal healthcare. Truly affordable post secondary education. Bringing the tax code back to what it should be, a progressive tax code. And I could go on. Dennis is a true progressive person. And that is what this country needs to bring us back to a better standing within the world community!

Please pick Hillary Clinton, Senator Obama. She has all the characteristics you are describing. She remains the top choice of over 40% of the party for the nomination. Please make the move that will bring us all together. You have the ability the unite the new with the old, to bring along the rest of the party with you on this quest for change. But I am afraid choosing someone else will just leave them bitter and indifferent. Please unite the party. Please choose Clinton.

Steve   July 29th, 2008 11:46 am ET

Obama won't pick Hillary. Get over it. He needs someone with experience. Picking the china patterns for the White House banquets, and ignoring her husband's recreational activities is not experience, no matter what Hillary says. Hillary has proven herself to be innefectual. She tried to push through a healthcare system during her husband's administration, and failed miserably. She tried to run a campaign and failed miserably. In fact, she wouldn't even be a Senator, if the Clinton machine hadn't pulled a fast one on the New York electorate. Ask a New Yorker what she's actually done for New York.

We need someone as VP who can make a positive difference as a member of Obama's team. We need a VP who will be a part of the President's agenda, not fighting against it. We need a VP who will provide experience and judgement, and not throw a tantrum every time he or she doesn't get their way. That is NOT Hillary.

Then we'll hear the squealing from the "kids".
He'll be leaving 60,000 to 100,000 troops in Iraq and sending the others to Afghanistan. He is getting squishier on the troop withdrawal every day. Of course there will be troop withdrawal over time no matter who is pres. According to CONDINTIONS on the ground, in agreement with Iraqs gov.

While having Hillary as VP would make a dream ticket, I would rather see her a Secretary of State or another position with great influence and power.

Besides, Hillary is young enough to follow up Barack regardless if he is here for one or two terms.

Either way, Hillary will be part of this administration in some shape or form.

Former Republican   July 29th, 2008 11:29 am ET

The republican analyst are counting on the Youth not showing up this year, they're mockingly declaring OBAMAs youth power as not important. They have a point b/c I didn't vote the last election, and that was my 1st chance to vote for president. But this year, when it matters the most , LETS PROVE THEM WRONG. Lets get OUT THERE and let our voices be heard. This election is about US, not about the seniors in their 60s who are retired or about to. There's no telling of how worse the economy will be if we let the seniors elect another BUSH. They are less likely to feel the effects of another bush for 8 years than we are. I respect them but MANY OF THEM are less tolerant and too stuck in their ways to vote for a candidate that don't look like them. We, the youth are the Future. We are more tolerant and have met and worked with people from all works of life. So please, get out and vote like you did in the primaries. This is our OUR FUTURE , THIS IS OUR MOMENT, THIS IS OUR TIME, GO REGISTER NOW and LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD!!!!

BTW: my family is traditionally republican, and my grandparents are voting for McCain, But I realize this is more important to me than them.

PUMA for McCain   July 29th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Hillary should not be the VP when she is understands the issues far more than Obama. Go back to the debates- BO knows nothing and was even criticized by both Hillary and John E. She should not be hand holding this guy. I'd only vote for her if she is the nominee for President. There's too much media hype with Obama, his head is too big and frankly, I'm not buying into this marketing campaign.

I have to say one more thing. I wish these PUMA for Hillary people would give it a rest already. SHE LOST. I know it's disappointing, but SHE LOST based upon the rules she agreed to. Don't blame Obama and flush this country down the toilet for Hillary's strategic mistakes. I truly believe she could have won had she not ignored the caucus states...but she did and SHE LOST because of it. In a way, I feel bad for her, but lesson learned. If she runs again, hopefully she'll be the better candidate for it.

If you wanna clench it, you are going to have to offer this to Hillary. She may decline but ya'll are really takin' a chance on folks not getting energized enough to get out and vote. If we get a republican, I agree, we deserve it, just like florida and nader votes the first time around. But when the elections are so evenly divided these daze, why in the world would you even have a second thought at the veep being the second most popular primary opponent (like most folks have done for the last hundred or so years)

I can't possibly envision him winning this election without Hillary Clinton on the ticket. If he is serious about putting the country first and his rockstar fame second he needs to announce Senator Clinton as his running mate immediately, meet with President Clinton and humble himself to accrept some advice that he desperately needs.I am 74 years old owen and operate my own small business and am struggeling like most other small businesses. Having monitored these "boreds" for months now, I have come to the conclusion that there is no REAL news. Only rumors, innuendo, and a lot of self imposed ignorance mainly aimed at Sen. Obama.
Fear and paranoia abound. The hatred and misinformation spread through these blogs, the media and e-mails is out of control. The GOP lied to us about the need for war in Iraq. This is an undisputed fact. They are still lying to us. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Fool me thrice shame on America.
We are worse than broke, we are in the hole trillions of dollars. This deficit will continue to grow under the GOP. That is the truth.
Those of you spouting 4000+ Americans dead "not so bad" are totally ignoring the millions of innocent Iraqi men, women and children killed as a result of our illegal invasion. The parents and spouses of our dead Americans surely would not agree that it is "not so bad".
Had the pilgrims been as afraid of change as some of you, there would be no America. The system is broken. Obama is not a messiah but he is the most honest and unselfish candidate running.
By the way, you seniors who are trying to survive on Social Security can kiss your butts goodbye if the GOP privatizes the SS fund. They have already cut back on benefits. Now they want to invest the whole fund in a stock market which crashes daily. ? Excuse me. My 401k fund is bleeding to death already. You call us Dems sheep? Please!

LOL! I haven't looked at comments for a while. It's hilarious to see that people are still taking the fact that Hillary LOST the campaign personally, as though it's Obama's fault, even though she was given points for FL & MI after they were not to count. Senator Obama's recent world tour showed that he has support worldwide. It's really, REALLY time for people to stop acting, voting, and posting stupid stuff in their own interests and act now as Americans. America needs change beyond the physical, and Obama clearly is the one to bring that change to us...whether Hillary is VP or not!

No Clinton!   July 29th, 2008 11:06 am ET

Anyone but Clinton! She would be the worst decision you ever made, and you've been good so far. BTW the reason being when people try to threaten you with "If you don't put her on the ticket I won't vote for you" or the one person who told said you should go back to Africa and be President there (even thought you were born in the US, and Africa is a continent, not a country) just shows that these unintelligent and ignorant people don't deserve the time of day. You vote for who you want, but you're not going to force Clinton on that ticket by threathening the Democratic Party. Sure, he might do better in the polls if she's on there, but at what cost? Some people are just refusing to vote for you for other reasons, so what does it matter? Also, Clinton has a lot of baggage, not to mention she spent the last 5 months bad mouthing everything you did and said. You don't think those clips will end up in commercials? Obama can and will win because if some of you actually read, you'd realize there are many Republicans who are voting Obama, as well as the MAJORITY of the Democratic party, and many Dems who are switching over. So, he doesn't NEED Clinton on that ticket. Besides, he'd have to get a food taster and sleep with one eye open. I wouldn't trust her.

I would be happy with any of the former DEMS candidate. i think HRC would be great, but too bad she lost... now lets all rally behind our nominee and help the party get back into the WHITE HOUSE. stop all the madness, do you really want 4 to 8 more years of Mcbush polocies 1.1 ???

Gwen   July 29th, 2008 11:01 am ET

I'm sure he'll do a good job. I have faith in Barack that he hear and listens to the country and knows what problems we are facing. I think John McCain couldn't care less. He's a wealthy D student who has skated by on one unfortunate incident in Vietnam. He wants the country to believe that he's more patriotic than Barack which is silly.

The Denver Convention should be extraordinary because of the American people’s resolve to take our country back from a buffoon and his flunky John don't-pay-attention-to-what-I-said-10-years-ago-McSame.

As long as is not a war-monger I will be happy. Dick Cheney is the worst VP in American history. He needs to be criminally investigated. There is no doubt that Cheney as well as other Bush cronies have committed crimes that deserve nothing less than some jail time.

Bryan in Indiana   July 29th, 2008 10:59 am ET

I was EXTREMELY impressed with Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska) after listening to he and Senator Reed on Face The Nation Sunday. One of the few Republican leaders who seems to not want to take pot-shots at Obama and the Democrats but work with them to make this country great again. I think he'd be an excellent choice for VP and a true representation of Obama's desire to reach out across party lines.

I don't think the "dream ticket" is gonna happen...and I'm not sure if I think it should. I think Hillary would be a VERY effective Secretary of State. She could leverage her relationships to rebuild the reputation that Dubya has so badly shattered.

If Obama loses, Hillary will be prez in 2012

Proud to be American   July 29th, 2008 10:46 am ET

Obama will pick the right person to be his VP; I think he should just let us know who his cabinet shall be. If he doesn’t win this election (I have faith he will) then it will just show the world that it is not the content of his character, or the policies he is purposing it is just for the color of his skin. I am so over the lack of experience thing…. Look what mess we are in with the last experience President and cabinet… they showed America that they are experience in getting richer and ensuring their friends get richer also… and disregarded the 95% of average Americans that work hard every day to make ends meet and still losing our homes with an economy that is not showing a glimmer of light at the end of this tunnel. I am afraid every time I go across a bridge in this great Country of ours because I fear it clasping … there are too many domestic issues that needs to be taken care of…. Yes health care, infrastructure, economy, education and we do not need McWar in the office. We need the world to support us in cleaning up Bush and Cabinet mess in which it appears it is achievable with Obama…. All I have to say if you like the state of America vote for McCain; if you seriously want change and Respect for America Obama is your man… it is seriously that simple.

Russ   July 29th, 2008 10:44 am ET

It is clear by the 18,000,000 votes that Hillary Clinton received that she should given the chance to decide if she wants the position. But, far be it from the mighty Obama to have to listen to what the American people want. No, just never mind those 18 million people, what Obama desires is much more important. He is going to allow his arrogance to ruin the day, and should his choice be anyone but Clinton, he loses my vote.

mccain is a few days off from being 72 yrs. old.he has been treated for melanoma 4 times in the past, now having another biopsy. melanoma is like any other kind of cancer, with treatment it may become in remission, which is not a cure and can start growing again anytime in the future and can spread to other vital organs in the body. mccain seems to make light of this cancer but it is serious and it should be his priority instead of running for president. It's also thinking of the good of the country now and for it's future

There is no way Sen Obama is describing Hiliary Clinton when he list whats important to him as VP qualities. Picking her would be a political mistake big time. It would feed into what the Republicans wanted all along – a chance to beat up on the Clintons with old rhetoric and old real life drama. Obama doesnt want drama.

Obama 08 and beyond.

Robert from California   July 29th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Obama, stop playing the stupid VP game, you know Hillary Clinton is the best candidate for the job, we don't care if you get along with her or now, the country need top leaders to get us out of this mess, with President Clinton experience you also have a great adviser.

So as a concern american, you need to choose Hillary Clinton if you want my VOTE and 18, 000, 000 other in order to win the white house.

God Bless America!

VA Democrats For McCain   July 29th, 2008 10:32 am ET

Another news organization is reporting Tim Kaine is top of the Obama VP list, what a choice, a do nothing senator picking a do nothing governor who raided $180 million from the Virginia highway trust fund to pay for his pet projects which had nothing to do with transportation and then a month later says he needs $5 billion for roads. What a choice, no foreign policy experience at all between them

Susan, TX   July 29th, 2008 10:29 am ET

It will not be Hillary, the problem with picking Hillary is what do you do with Bill? He opens his mouth and he's partly the reason for Hillary's loss. Sen. Biden would be an excellent choice for VP since he has deep knowledge in foreign policy. I would like to see him, he doesn't take any bs that is thrown his way.

Brian   July 29th, 2008 10:29 am ET

The people that won't vote for Obama if Clinton isn't on the ticket make me laugh. If you're not going to vote for him because you're bitter and mad that Clinton lost the election that's your call. Clinton wasn't cheated out of the election, the media didn't make people vote for Obama. People make their own choices, we're not all mindless robots like you'd think.

If you want to go vote for McCain like the PUMA's are that's fine, go watch your social security get squandered by the GOP. Go watch more tax cuts as the government continues to spend uncontrollably, while using our Chinese Visa card. I mean seriously, you people need to grow up. The world doesn't revolve around just your vote or Hillary Clinton. Maybe just maybe, there are people in this country that don't like the Clintons? Maybe, they want to see a White House with out a Clinton or a Bush in it.

Corey Gillingham   July 29th, 2008 10:20 am ET

Obama will not choose Hillary Clinton. Its very clear that he despises her and is completely intimidated by her. She is a very strong woman – a natural leader who is much more intelligent and experienced than him and she would take most of the attention from him. He will not tolerate that inspite of his word of wanting someone who will challenge him. I wish I could say he never tells the truth and that this is another Obama ruse but its so hard to actually piece together WHAT he thinks about anything. He belongs in a pulpit NOT the White House.

Morgan   July 29th, 2008 10:19 am ET

Chipster   July 29th, 2008 10:18 am ET

I would have preferred Hillary at the top of the ticket (look beyond the tabloid trash in the media – she's brilliant and dedicated to public service) but we need her in the Senate if she won't be President. Unlike the Republican Party, Democrats have a long list of highly qualified candidates but it would be best not to remove another Senator. We need their votes in the Senate to help the Democratic President restore sanity, respect, law, and fiscal responsibility to our government

Richardson would be a great choice but there are many others who will be equally qualified.

No matter what the topic on the political ticker, it seems the conversation always steers to cheesy comments like No-Bama, No-Vote or McSame, or the obligatory "Hillary was cheated, I will vote Republican if she's not on the ticket" comments. She's not going to be on the ticket, so grow up and get over it ya bunch of whining babies. Can we try to stay focused on the topics here? An intelligent discussion about who would be a good pick for McCain or Obama for VP would be nice. Or is the conversation about politics in America limited to name calling and whining? Probably because no one even knows who any of the potential running mates are...

Hillary – get those Super Delegates to WAKE UP at the convention and become our nominee so we can WIN.

Obama is an empty suit, completely unqualified with a highly suspect background. He held dual citizenship with Indonesia – which may disqualify him from being POTUS.

Hillary needs to be PRESIDENT!!!

It’s a wonder that Hillary voters have now resorted to blackmailing their support to McCain if their candidate isn’t selected as VP. It seems that the policies of their candidate aren’t nearly as important as satisfying their own personal bitter desire to gain a sense of empowerment and acknowledgment.

May God Bless the ‘Values’ voters of 2004 who brought us GWB and the ’Puma” voters of 2008; as if it’s still a wonder why the rest of the world not only hates the United States, but now laughs at it too.

Cindy Hussein McCain   July 29th, 2008 10:03 am ET

Most people already know who they are going to vote for, while there may still be some who don't, VP pick won't sway TRUE supporters.

It is however troubling that so many people who disagree with McCain on issues like how to handle the economy, woman's issue, the war and the whole list ect, are willing to vote for McCain.

Obama is not winning in the polls because there are still too many Americans that will not vote for a Black man. Even though our country has changed and evolved to the extent that it has, why do people still consider race? It is ridiculous, we are all Americans.

Hillary has too much baggage..i.e...her own agendas as to "what to do and how to do it" for Obama to be an effective president. Anyone who thinks "it's her or no one else" really doesn't have a clue. Obama appears to have a lengthy list of qualified people who would work well with him and work to do something we've not had in this country in a long time which is to engender a true sense of optimism and hope that we can overcome our differences and difficulties without calling each other names and/or insulting each other.

Just Observing   July 29th, 2008 9:59 am ET

While the media was following Obama on his trip and painting him up to be a great foreign policy expert, why didn't they (including CNN) report that before his big Berlin speech there was a free concert with 2 popular German bands along with free bratwurst, free pizza and free beer? That's the only reason the crowd was so large. The media is so in the tank for Obama it's sickening

Not only will the Vice President be important but the candidate's cabinet should also be named so America can see what they can expect to get for the next 4 years.

John McCain has nothing to draw from other than Bush cronies, the likes of Phil Gramm and his Lobbyist friends who are running his campaign. Don't forget McCain's campaign has been a joke up until now so if these are some of his proposed cabinet the joke will be on America!

It is funny how Hillary supporters want to demand that she is on the democratic ticket. Do they not know this hurts her cause more than helps it. Imagine if Hillary won the delegates to be nominated and Obama did not. I bet my undervalued house that these same supporters would have a fit if Obama supporters said she better pick him or else. They would say what the nerve who is he to demand something when he lost. Does he want some kind of special "Wink" "Wink' treatment. Do not get me wrong I think Hillary would be a great choice and all but ensure a victory. However, did you eat your vegetables when your parents demanded it of you or did you moan and groan and eventually stuff it in a napkin and throw it away?

It's hilarious that people are so crazy that they think "Your comment is awaiting moderation" is a clear sign of CNN censorship, liberal bias, conservative bias, proof that "THE MAN" doesn't want their words heard, etc. CNN gets thousands of posts to sort through, and they actually try to moderate their boards, and some stuff just doesn't make the cut. If you idiots (on both sides) would actually look through the comments, you'd see plenty of stuff on every political blog story, sane and insane, from all sides of a given political issue. Including posts from people breathlessly proclaiming that CNN "won't post" whatever they just posted.

I will be glad, when this "whole masquerade of an election process" is over, and the "real people" take "real respondsibility" for their own action or non-action, on the "real concerns" of this Nation. Now, that will be a welcomed day, one to be truly proud of........................Just hoping!

Phil-Little Rock   July 29th, 2008 9:38 am ET

Come on, CNN. I'm a big fan of this network and all but, this is just stirring the pot a little bit. It's not a secret that at some point, he HAS to pick a VP, so why all the drama about it? Report something else, like how these PUMA/Hillary fanatics are going to cost the Democrats the election.

GO OBAMA!!

Let's seeeee... you have an ex president's daughter picking your choice for a VP. She really doesn't have the creditials that make me feel good about that. But ok... she chooses Kline... ok... do that and you for sure will lose this election. Some people are chosen to lead and others are chosen to participate then sit on the sidelines. See ya on the sideline Obama.

obama is unfit to be president of this country   July 29th, 2008 9:35 am ET

obama = the dumbing of America.

Do you know that England,France and Germany would NEVER elect obama to run their country. NEVER. Now, why do you think that is.

Obama/Hagel

Terri   July 29th, 2008 9:34 am ET

No way, not Hillary. She's not doing anything to unite the party – just the opposite. And defintely not for the reasons of simply uniting the party. She should be on board because she is a Democrat, why is deveryone pandering to her? Why must she be wooed -what ? did I miss the part where the campaign became a love affair? She might have been the right candidate before all this nonsense coming from her. She needs to change her stance and get on board.

Steve (Independent)   July 29th, 2008 9:34 am ET

To me, a VP doesn't matter that much, at least not in regards to elections. Just to be interesting, however, I think he ought to pick Caroline Kennedy to put a woman on the ticket with him. ;)

Susan   July 29th, 2008 9:32 am ET

Pick Hillary for veep! Obama & Hillary will make a strong team!!!

Obama/Hillary 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike   July 29th, 2008 9:31 am ET

I hope Obama selects Senator Chuck Hagel as VP. This would ensure victory in November. I know there are several policy differences but that would make Obama a true uniter. It would prove that even if you disagree with someone, you could be united.

AliciaM.   July 29th, 2008 9:30 am ET

Let's do this . Win Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!

Annoy the Media, say NO to Obama   July 29th, 2008 9:29 am ET

The end of the dream is here folks... not selecting Hillary for VP will mean that Obama's November chances will start to dimininish. Why? Because many of the die-hard Hillary for VP supporters will loose interest and not vote in November (some will actually vote McCain.)

Ms. D   July 29th, 2008 9:28 am ET

I think Biden or Bayh. But I am strongly for Biden. Biden is more vetted and have more foreign policy and national security experience!!

I think Obama will choose Biden!!

How can you support that man?

Pat Long Island, NY   July 29th, 2008 9:26 am ET

Don't count on him picking Hillary Clinton, because polls so far show he does not need her to win; democrats are rallying around him just on his own. Rather, he needs INDEPENDENTS to win, and it is clear that a Hillary pick will turn off Independents. That said, look out for him to pick someone with great foreign policy experience, military background, governor/former governor, and/or Hagel. My bet is on someone from VA.

Tony   July 29th, 2008 9:25 am ET

If Obama has any sense at all he will pick Joe Biden for V.P. Biden should have been the nominee, not Obama or Clinton, however the media is to blame for their biased, slanted, narrow-minded reporting.

Had EVERY candidate been given the same coverage as an ex-POW, a Mormon ex-CEO, a woman, and a biracial man, neither Obama or McCain would be the nominees.

TheOutsideLookingIn   July 29th, 2008 9:25 am ET

With the "energy crisis" and the "state of our planet" being VERY central issues to this presidential campaign AND to MANY policies on all levels AFTER the election, AL GORE would not be a bad choice as VP.

His work has garnered huge public attention AND he turns out to be right on most issues as well as his recognition world wide as a Nobel prize-winner, he'd make an excellent VP choice.

Not to mention his vast knowledge and respect he now comands almost everywhere he goes. AL GORE speaks and people actually do listen AND don't see him as some self-serving politician.

Albeit this ellectuion is for the US Presidency BUT its impact and far-reaching effect is going to be felt the world over. More now than EVER before.

Obama/Gore !!

To the "former Obama supporter":

You need to check and see who is REALLY knocking on your door. It may be any number of entities not working for the campaign, but dropping the name. You should not blame the campaign, for example, if the DNC sends contracted fundraisers to your door.

Lately we hear how the media's affair with Obama is over, which is just as well. The media don't tell me how to think–unless I allow it.

I think that as more and more folks continue to refine their own criticial thinking skills, their love affair with the media will lessen as well.

Here's to all free thinkers.

NO GE   July 29th, 2008 9:21 am ET

GE is a bonehead. Diane Feinstein would be a rediculous choice. All she brings to the table is Califiornia which always votes Democratic anyway. Clinton will give Obama Forida and Ohio. Besides with almost half of the Democrats voting for her in the primary, to not pick her would be a slap in their faces and could cost him the election.

check and checkmate   July 29th, 2008 9:18 am ET

Barack, you are comming off as a presumtious candidate you are not the President yet! I should add without Hillary Clinton no matter how much your base slanders her and I do remember the brushing off the lint speech, you showed your arrogance. Mainstream voters are looking for a President that has some prodictable element on all bases, not and angle on after burners which you come off as.
McCain, can win because we have that sence of knowing him all he needs is more middle of the road moderation in VP choice and Cabinet and you are finished like Dewey and Truman think about it time is running out tick, tick, tick.

Jozee   July 29th, 2008 9:18 am ET

Another factore is that you are all being racits, but you wont admit it.

If Obama selects anyone other than Clinton my vote goes to McCain and so do the votes of at least a dozen others I know. We want him to aknowledge the other 50% of the Democratic votes. If he does then he will have proved that he wants party unity and we will get behind him.

SaneTexan   July 29th, 2008 9:13 am ET

Barack is a big phoney. McCain is not a viable choice. Carolyn Kennedy and Bill Richardson are traitors to the moderate Democrats and jump on any train that has a little steam. The DNC and the media screwed up big time by pouncing on Hillary in favor of this arrogant snot. After a disaster like Bush...we get these two bozos?

AL   July 29th, 2008 9:13 am ET

How come CNN is not reporting on the McCain fundraiser/supporter who just got fined $1.3 Mil for dealing under the table with the ex-Haitian President. The two of them stole about $20 Mil from that poor country and its citizens. So McCain threw him under the bus before this hit the News.... The lawsuit was filed in Miami, Florida.

He is the owner/president of ADT. His name James .... if CNN wants the lawsuit, I have all 75 pages of it.

Karina   July 29th, 2008 9:10 am ET

Democrats will take the White House with Obama and Hillary on the same ticket, period. Anyone else as his pick would be handing it all over to the the Republicans, and their strategy from the beginning, would have been a success. Hillary was their main fear. Republican cross-party voters got her out of the way by voting for Obama. Now the last leg of their agenda is in the works, finishing off Obama. I have said, that Obama's delay in picking Hillary, is going to cost him but I will also say that if he is dumb enough to select anyone other than Hillary now, he will be doomed.

Doug   July 29th, 2008 9:10 am ET

If unification is the goal, it should apply to the entire country, not just to the Democratic party. If we'd want to see bi-partisanship and progress, then the pick for VP needs to reflect that.

I've always liked both Joe Biden and Chuck Hagel, one a Democrat and one a Republican. But both are reasonable men, say what they feel regardless of the polls and are willing to listen to all points of view whether they agree or not.

Biden is a little too cantankerous, but he should be in a high-level cabinet post dealing with foreign affairs.

I think Hagel would make a good president, so I think Obama should choose him.

We should move past Democrat vs Republican, conservative vs liberal, adn move toward a more enlightened approach to our national affairs.

So Obama/Hagel would be a great combo. McCain couldn't carry their water.

Kevin   July 29th, 2008 8:56 am ET

Mccain's best hope should be that Obama chooses him as his running mate.

Michelle, PA   July 29th, 2008 8:56 am ET

Unfortunately for Hillary, Obama cannot pick her because of Bill. he might win the election more handily with an Obama/Clinton ticket, but you cannot have two Presidents at the same time without a weak and poisoned Administration. And if Bill couldn't shut up and sit down for the sake of his own wife's candidacy, do you really think he'll do so with access to the Oval Office again? If Hill had ditched Bill......but it's not meant to be.

That said, I am refusing to speculate further. I feel the choice is Brack's and his alone, and will speak volumes about who he is, what he stands for, and what sort of people he will surround himself with in an Obama Administration. Here's hoping for a solid judgment call!

Obama definitely doesn't shoot from the hip. Everything he does is carefully thought out and deliberate.

James Joyce wrote: "When you wet the bed first it is warm and then it's cold" – James Joyce

This is why I hope Barack Obama gets elected President of the United States.

We've had almost 8 years of a President who likes to wet his bed, but doesn't acknowledge, and often denies when it gets cold.

We now have John McCain who seems to also have bed wetting tendencies, and seems to forget when the bed got cold, or chooses to focus on how warm it felt, and how good it felt.

Sure, many things seem like good ideas when you don't give enough time to careful think through the consequences. "Acting first, thinking later" or as some would call "shooting from the hip," is something we can't afford our next President to do. I call it bed wetting, it's something children do... and most of us out grow it....

some don't...

John Hamilton   July 29th, 2008 1:29 am ET

A truly powerful pick would be Janet Napolitano, the governor of Arizona. For one thing, McCain would lose his own state (which he might lose anyway).

Actually, I think that by election day McCain will no longer be the "Republican" candidate. For health reasons, real and convenient, he will drop out. There is too much criminal money to be made for the "Republicans" to back a loser.

Of course, the best running mate for Obama would be Caroline Kennedy. Maybe she could pull a Cheney. Not a chance, I'm afraid. She's way above the comparison.

For the love of God, please don't chose hillary. She is a dangerous pick because she's getting older, and knowing her human rights track record with the likes of vince foster, she might try to set him up. I know some people might think, "pick hillary and it'll be a sure victory", but in my opinion winning isn't everything, and if people are that racist and stupid as to pick john mccain when knowing he's an inferior candidate than they deserve the 4 years of hell they'll get when doing so..

McCain was responsible for the Forrestal fire. Something made the plane behind McCain fired a rocket, which hit McCain's external center fuel tank, and caused a fire. McCain panicked, and dropped two bombs into the fire.

Surviving crewmen and those who investigated the Forrestal fire case reported that McCain deliberately 'wet-started' his A-4E Skyhawk to shake up the guy in the F-4 Phantom behind his plane.

When the carrier Oriskany came along side, and McCain was put in a chopper and whisked away. McCain was the only Forrestal crewman to be immediately transferred.

By the way, McWeasle will probably "stroke out" after the first debate, and Mitt Romney will have to step up to the plate, just in time for a first rate whipping by OBAMA.

If Obama wants to fundamentally change how Washington does business then he needs then why a representative of the old guard like Caroline Kennedy?

With all due respect to the Kennedy family, those who have served, I do not think by the simple virtue that Caroline Kennedy is a Kennedy qualifies her to be such an influential member of Obama's search committee.

After all it was not so long ago that Caroline Kennedy was running around with a poor attitude and less than dignified behavior.

Don't get in a hurry Senator. McCain is just waiting for you to choose so that he can attempt to trump you. Honestly, if Senator Obama wants to end all speculation and silence future polls, Senator Clinton as VP would seal the deal. Like it or not folks, with her pull on votes the election would be done. Don't let ANYONE try to strong-arm or bully or extort you into picking who THEY want you to make your running mate, you do what YOU think is right and pick one that will help you. That is YOUR right; not anyone else's.

ive got a better idea.....follow john "oil spill" mcCANE around all day and tell us what buildings he goes to. then we can compare the work ethic of Obama and mcCANE. i get the funny feeling in my stomach that mcCANE is napping most of the day, trying to make at least one appearance a day at a food establishment. that is not a campaign, that is a RETIREMENT schedule.

follow BOTH of the candidates every moves, PLEASE!!!! i want to see more of mcCANE with his bandage plastered right there on his face. i want to see more of mcCANE's old looking arms. i want to see more of his "deer in the headlights" look when asked a tough question. i want to see more geography errors....MORE MORE MORE

I used to be an Obana supporter but his people are costantly knocking on my door looking for money and not refusing to leave without a donation. And then seeing Duval Patricks house in The Boston Globe sent me right over the top.

I am now not going to vote at all in this upcoming election. I simply dont think that Mc Cain or Obama are the best that this country has to offer

Is this really newsworthy. I mean the MSM could be spending time talking about all of McCain's gaffes over the last two weeks, instead of reporting, Obama had a meeting. I do have to admit that CNN has been a little better than MSNBC about this issue, but it could still be alot better. I dont expect Fox to be fair, so I just left them out. I mean they take talking points from the WH, and spew them out like facts. Now, if Obama had gotten the facts wrong about the Anbar Awakening and the Surge, the MSM would have been reporting on it for weeks, but since it was McCain it got maybe a few minutes of coverage. Now, I know some of McCain's gaffes can be attributed to just your average misspeak, but he has had so many "misspeaks" in the last two weeks that it is starting to become worrisome. Is the MSM scared to bring up all of these issues because they dont want to be accused of ageism? Im not sure, but facts are facts, and McCain has been getting them consistantly wrong for awhile now. Maybe, just maybe, his age is starting to affect him. He is 72, so its not completely out of the question. I truly dont think 72 is to old to be president, but in some cases it might be.

I truly Mr. Obama understands that his choice for the VP slot makes a lot of us determine whether or not he gets our vote!! A wrong move here could send an untol number of Democrats across party lines at worst - and, at best, keep us at home in November if his choice is wrong.

Terry   July 28th, 2008 9:48 pm ET

Hopefully he makes the smart decision and picks Hillary. Otherwise I will not vote for him no way, no how. I'll either write in Hillary or vote for McCain. Either one of them is much more realistic to make change happen than tObama's dreamer "change" speeches.

Mc Cain is; was not "FEAR" used to as a "Political Issue" to invade Iraq under the false intelligence about Weapon of Mast Destruction (WMD) by his Republican party, now with over 4000 death, thousand wounded, Billion spent and more to come. Why should he be asking Barack to admit that he was wrong about a corrective measure called "The Serge" when the illegal war as cost so much LIVES.

Senator Obama is, in my opinion, one of the most cynical politicians in modern history. His abrupt changes on many issues after the primaries have left many of us with a bad taste. It is as if he pulled the wool over our eyes to get our votes, now takes it for granted that we'll still be there in the fall even though he's changed positions on very issues that we voted in his favor because of. Lately he claimed that the military would not allow him to visit the troops in Germany because he was campaigning, then we later find out that he could have seen them without reporters and cameras. There are at least a dozen other problems that I have that might not allow me to vote for him in November, he simply is not what he claimed to be: a different candidate running a different campaign. He's turned out to be more Washington politician than most of those who he was critical of before and during the primaries.

Unity   July 28th, 2008 8:41 pm ET

Sounds like Obama has a terrific team working with him searching for his VP. His campaign has been run cleanly and very professionally. I truly admire this man.

With each day, McCain scares me more & more. I just looked at his voting record for veterans over the past two years. Surprisingly, his votes in the senate to support veterans are only a FRACTION of those of Obama, yet he is running as the 'veterans' choice'. His total about face on ending the war in Iraq (to almost match what Obama has been saying all along) has got to leave you questioning why he's been arguing against Obama all along. And why aren't the media questioning the almost daily gaffes – too many to count????

Lisa   July 28th, 2008 8:41 pm ET

it sounds like, as usual, obama is not letting anyone/media rush him into making any decisions before he's ready. that's one of his great strengths, his level-headedness, he just doesnt get rattled, and in these volatile times that's EXACTLY what we need in a president. as opposed to mccain, who physically and verbally attacks people, and thinks war is the best solution to most problems!

obama will go down as the best president in u.s. history, which is funny b/c he is following the WORST president in u.s. history!

Here's some intersting info for Democrats:

A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; (the Dem’s were going to “fix” this, remember?)
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) the cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
7) The value of the U.S. dollar has plummeted.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
But wait-let's put the blame on Bush....or any other republican...

And he has been an outstanding senator for our state. The people of Indiana has tremendous love and respect for him. He has been on many important senate committees and has travels extensively. He has presidential asperations. He has a wonderful wife and children. He would be a real hard working vp who would have no problems sharing his opinions with Obama. He might also win a few Clinton supporters to the fold. I'm sure he would carry Indiana for Obama.

Jack cafferty is talking about judgement and experience. How can you have good judgement if you have no experience. Barack Obama has no experience whatsoever so even today he cannot decide on his VP because he cannot judge it. CNN and the media are talking so much about Barack Obama. It is like a young boy going to school for the first time. How can you make him president of our great nation. I commented on this yesterday but CNN did not publish it. I want Ameircan people to open their eyes and so also CNN. There are reporters like Wolf Blitzer who are in love with Obama. For what? What does he bring to the tableas our President. Nothing.

Stanley   July 28th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

A responsible person should always check to make sure the task he/she deligates is complete or progressing according to specifications... Let the process work itself out.

Nancy Moore   July 28th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

Here's a hypothetical for you: John McCain bows out of the presidential election at the Republican convention (reason: his health). Then the Republican Party has a big bombshell convention electing Romney as the new candidate. This would be their big thing, planned all along, to upset the elections and, hopefully, for them, to resurrect their campaign.

Alex   July 28th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

"UPDATE: Obama left Holder's office building shortly before 7 p.m. ET, almost three hours after he went in. He declined to answer any questions on who he met with."

oh man... this guy can't get any privacy

Farrell, Houston, Tx   July 28th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

Sounds like he's talking about none other than Sen. Hagel or Sen. Joe Biden. Obama has great choices.

Mike   July 28th, 2008 7:33 pm ET

Pleeeeease choose Edwards!

Roger from CA   July 28th, 2008 7:32 pm ET

It should be "... any questions on WHOM he met with." Or, to be more correct, "any questions as to with whom he met." Tsk, tsk, CNN.

It's going to be a very LOOONG Summer if we get breathless reports as to each sighting and each meeting of the candidates' VP vetting process. This doesn't really establish anything other than that Obama, having been out of the country for more than a week, wants to check in with his VP vetters, and that there is a process going on. None of that is a surprise or particularly interesting.

Eileen from Maine   July 28th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

“I'm going to want somebody with integrity. I'm going to want somebody with independence, who's willing to tell me where he thinks or she thinks I'm wrong, and I'm — I'm going to want somebody who shares a vision of the country where we need to go, that we've got to fundamentally change not only our policies, but how our politics works, how business is done in Washington,” he said.

I wonder if John McCain will be looking for the direct opposite for his VP?

Josh In Ohio   July 28th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

He needs Hillary......

Big media folks had a nice 9-days of glitz and glamor on Obama aeroplane, must be having a hangover. Pain in hip is just part of hangover. take it easy, this guy knows how to fool around Americans.

Long time Democrat maybe no more   July 28th, 2008 7:30 pm ET

This should be simple – if he doesn't ask Hillary to join the ticket I am going to vote for McCain!

Well, CNN here you go again. Of the first 7 articles on today's Ticker (as of 6:21 CST), 5 are pro Obama, 1 is about McCain's mole and 1 about McCain on oil which you immediately criticize in the article.

What is the point? Why not just advertise yourselves as "Obama Central."?

Anyone who is so biased as CNN and MSNBC just can't be believed.

EDW   July 28th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

Obama please get some rest this week!!!!

Dems '08

Marina   July 28th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

I think Joe Biden would make a great VP! He's strong on foreign policy, he has tenure, and he's well known. I can see the two of them together. What would McCain say about that....huh? He'd know he's in a tough spot if he doesn't realize already.

I like Senator Reed, Dodd, and Gov. Richardson also.

James   July 28th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

Obama says “I'm going to want somebody with integrity"

I guess that leaves out anyone from the Clinton Clan.

Think he just described Hillary Clinton - someone with independence, not afraid to stand up to him, and the same vision for the country. Politics in Washington will never change. Get over that one.

Obama/Clinton or bust!

California Gold   July 28th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

This capsulizes the difference between these candidates:

Obama has media speculating based on movements of key people, There is anticipation and expectation of information. Hints are scoured for. The only thing Candidate Obama intimates is the decision will be made "soon enough".

McCain baited the media with the possibility of a VP announcement and there was no interest.

Ron M.   July 28th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

The only thing that will secure my vote is for him to choose Hillary. If he does not then I have decided not to vote for president this time around. I'll vote for my local and state offices but that will be it. I may even write her in! And you can be sure I won't be alone in this.

A Woman In California For Obama   July 28th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

Bill Richardson would be great!!!!
So many good Democrats to pick from.

Except Hillary, I hope she goes Independent like her buddy Joe Lieberman. Democrats would be better withought her mudslinging.

Pick anyone else, GUARANTEE yourself headlining the article entltled 'The Election the Democrats snatched defeat from the jaws of victory ' or How Howard Dean surplanted the State of Florida's debacle in 2000, YEE HAW!, and lost the election for the country.

I remember the last time a man ran for President as a Washington "outsider," one who would change the way things in government were done. His name was Jimmy Carter.

George   July 28th, 2008 7:13 pm ET

OOPPS!! I think Hillary is out.

Barbara-California   July 28th, 2008 7:12 pm ET

I love the last paragraph of this article, outlining the qualitys of the candidate he wants for his VP. It is sad to have to admit that none of these qualitys are on a parallel with Hillary Rodham Clintons qualifications; therefore I am hoping he will not even consider asking her to run with him.

She would run alright, but he would spend the next four years dodging arrows and her errors in speech and actions if he should win the Presidency.

Hillary Clinton should go back to Arkansas where she came from, she has not accomplished anything for the State of New York where she was elected as a "carpetbag Senator"......good bye Hillary and Bill.....the country has had enough of Arkansas politics!

Observer   July 28th, 2008 7:10 pm ET

Clinton
Edwards
Hagel

When in the long course of human events has an election for president ever been decided by whom was selected for his vice president?
People do not vote for a vice president! I could be selected for running mate and who in the world would give a hoot?
I like CNN, but sometimes I think you guys(and gals) really reach far out for any thing that although not news, it grabs attention.

gary   July 28th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

BIG DEAL LET HIM FALL ON HIS FACE ALONE . HRC DONT EXCEPT IF ASKED. LET O.B. SCREW THIS COUNTRY UP WORST THAN IT IS ON HIS OWN. YOUR NAME DONT NEEDTO BE BASHED ANYMORE THAN IT HAS THROUGH THIS WHOLE RACE. AMERICA GETS WHAT THEY ASK FOR.

Obama 08   July 28th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

Obama has great judgement, and I'm fine with anyone he picks.

I hope he picks Kathleen Sebelius!

Joe Biden for Secretary of State!
Bill Richards for Secretary of Energy!
Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense!
John Edwards for Supreme Court!

Martha in Lake View, SC   July 28th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

With all the problems that the Bushies have left during the last eight years, Obama will need all the "know-how" that he can gather. I hope that he will make it easier for me to vote for him by choosing someone who has been there before and can warn him about the pitfalls ahead-like Hillary Clinton.

That is a winner all the way to the oval Office

Jason - Chandler, Arizona   July 28th, 2008 6:59 pm ET

We should know who his VP choice is long before the convention, as well as his cabinet choices. Those are the real people who will make the decisions. The President is merely a figure head these days. I hope Obama chooses wisely.. Someone like Hagel would force McCains hand to maybe reach to Hillary..

At least Obama can remember where The Czech Republic is, McCain refers to it as Czechoslovakia..

Also McCain refers to Iraq and Pakistan sharing a border... His comments from July 21, 2008... He [McCain] warned of a “very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border.”

Peter   July 28th, 2008 6:59 pm ET

Hopefully it will be Bayh, Kaine, Richardson, Biden, or Nunn

Trust is the issue. We are going too have a hard 4 years comming up. I know from viewing history . in reading history this will be the wrost since the great depression. I am praying OBAMA will make it . if not we will be int the biggest mess this country has ever experience..........trust me on this one.

Marge Hibbing Mn   July 28th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

Of course he won't pick Hillary, altho he should. She would receive more attention and know what she is doing. AND THAT WOULD TAKE THE SPOTLIGHT off egotistical super big headed obama.

IF he does get the job he will probably have people line up to kiss his butt moreso than bush ever did.

Obama/Sebelius 08   July 28th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas!!!!!

She would be a perfect match for Obama!!!!

6 years State Governor
8 years State Insurance Commisioner
8 years State Representative

She's been voted as one of the Top 5 Governors!!!
Did a great job of bringing her state out of debt!!!!

Great track history of making both Democrats and Republicans happy!

She has what it takes to get the job done, and is by far the best match for Obama!!!

I am very pleased that Sen. Obama was meeting with his Economic advisers, one which was Mr. Buffet. He has gathered a group of great minds to advice him.

After this afternoon's budget numbers from Bush/Cheney, of a deficit of $490 BILLION, PLUS ANOTHER $80 BILLION FOR IRAQ'S WAR! WE ARE IN A DISASTER!

Funny how the far-right people never mention how McCain is going to clean up Bush/Cheney's mess!

justin in CO   July 28th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

for goodness sake, he'll announce his v.p. choice when he makes one. continually asking him about it (a) won't bring about an answer any sooner, (b) doesn't remind him he needs to (eventually) make a choice, (c) doesn't remind him that when he makes a choice, he ought to make a public announcement of his choice, (d) annoys the crap out of me, so i can only imagine how he feels, (e) all of the above. let the man breathe, or at least ask him what he had for breakfast this morning, as i'm dying to know
