Gov. Tim Kaine will do just fine. The devisiveness among NY Dems brought Hillary Clinton to NY. It is the same spirit of contention that is keeping Kaine ahead of Clinton in the veep stakes. Kaine and Obama is close in age but Virginia will be purple enough to be blue if Kaine is on the ticket. Kaine may also give Obama clout with the defense industry based in Virginia. So be it!

A sure winning ticket for Senator Obama will be the following:

Obama-Hagel: Will cruise thru like a cool breeze even with Independant voters. No more of these nonsenses about Patriotism

Obama-Biden: Will silence McCain Camp about all these speculations about Foreign Policy credential

Obama-Sam Nunn: He's an older Gentleman but he can deliver Georgia State along with a host of Foreign Policy expertises

Obama-Sibelius: Could boost the margin of all the Crazy White women that Hillary was talking about along with some good Economic sound judgment.

All the rest of them Fools, they can strenghtening the Cabinet by holding some key important post.

For all these people talking about No Hillary No vote, you're nothing but a fool because Hillary is like John McCain, same old Washington insiders that steer this great Nation on the wrong track like we are today. Please think about the future of America before you talk.

I don't know much about the Governor of Virginia. Like Obama he is fairly new to the national scene.. However Kaine would probably put Virginia in the Obama column.

Most pundits don't thing the VP matters. However I believe it does. It helps solidify undecided or leaning voters. Geographically, it can balance the ticket . If the presidential candidate is perceived in experienced in a certain policy area the right VP can make a difference.

I personally belive that if JFK hadn't chosen LBJ for VP. Kennedy would have lost Texas and the election.

My personal choice is Joe Biden for VP; Bill Richardson for Secretary of State; John Edwards for Attorney General; Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense; Mike Shea for Secretary of Labor; Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton for HUD Secretary, Warren Buffett for Secretary of Treasury; Dennis Kucinich for Secretary of Commerce and Hillary Clinton as White House Secretary( She could give tours of the white house and she knows where all the bathrooms are at).

Once and for all get over the fact that HRC will not be picked for the VP job. This will be no fault of her own. The problem is not Hillary, it is the baggage of Bill Clinton. If you recall an earlier speech from Mr. Obama, he mentioned that there can only be one president in the WH at a time. Does this tell you something about why he can not pick Hillary.
______________________________________________________

Can someone please explain or define experience as it relates to running for the office of president of the USA? General Clarke took a lot of heat simply by saying that being in the military does not necessarily qualify you to be president. He is correct. There are two issues that need be considered if you are a McCain fan. While in the military was he ever in the position of leadership of more than a handful of people and did he make decisions that would affect others and at the same time impact our military position or affect another country? The second point is this, the military is not a democracy, you do not vote on issues, therefore you do not get opposing views. How does that in anyway qualify anyone to be president.

Experience is a great thing, but final decisions are what we have to live with. Knowledge does not necessarily breed Wisdom, nor does Experience necessarily breed good decision making. Ask yourself this question, upon all of the alledged experience Sen. McCain has, why did he vote to go to Iraq, and why did he say that it would be easy and it would be over very quickly? Is this an example of experience trumps decision making prowess?

Finally, yes Sen. Obama wants to be a change agent when in office, but he has to use the system in its current form to get to that office.

Are you feeling me people???????

I think its wonderful that Barack has chosen another inexperienced, daughter of a legendary President, who has no experience other than being raised in the White house as a child, to be a considered member of a two-member committee to help him choose his running mate. How "new" and "inexperienced" is that. Did he think that because we all loved the Kennedys that this is an honorable thing to do. What in the world (other than her college degree) would she know who would be the best person to be a vice president.

This country dug a whole for themselves when they made Obama the nominee. Had things been not so one-sided in the media (just as it was recently with Obama in Europe) Hillary would have been the nominee, and she would not have needed a "committee" to help her choose her running mate. This has all been a travesty, and we will end up being the losers. Whether we vote for Obama, or McCain, its the lessor of two evils. Hate has destroyed countries before, and the hate the bloggers showed for Hillary will come back to haunt them.

Hillary Clinton is the only one who can help Obama win in Nov.

Reason? It has become obvious to anyone who watch Obama regularly that he has become and probably always have been........a back-slapping, huggy-touching, swaggering, arrogant, palsy-walsy, overconfident, over-ambitious, impatient representative of people like myself.
He may have unique qualities to offer this country, as some believe, but he sure seem to be going over the top to achieve credibility.

The media has been asking this question for months now and I'm here to help out with the answer. The media has been asking why...with all the publicity, the buzz, the media support, the money, the great speeches and the world photo op tour is Obama still not running away with a lead in the poll against Mccain?

The answer is simple: John Mccain is very reason why Obama does not have a bigger lead in the polls. You see, to get attention, a buzz, the wow factor and the publicity...all you need are theatrics, noise, bells, whistles, well scripted words, a shinning created image and bigger then life staged show. This Obama has accomplished. However, to get respect and a sense of relation to regular voters, you need time, experience, character and a proven integrity track record. This is something Mccain has that Obama can never obtain via publicists and marketing campaigns. Its simple really....voters knows a commercial when they see one.

It is nice that Mr. Obama is vetting VPs but when will Mr. Obama be vetted and who will take on the challenge.

The DNC has chosen a nominee who is untested and has not been vetted by anyone. With a cloud of mystery surrounding Mr. Obama’s entire life, one must wonder who this man is and what he is trying to hide.

I really do not think Obama is going to make much of a difference. After all he has his hands deep in the pockets of the invest banks and the insurance industry.
We need Dennis Kucininch for president. He was the only one talking about the working poor and a LIVABLE wage. The environment. True universal healthcare. Truly affordable post secondary education. Bringing the tax code back to what it should be, a progressive tax code. And I could go on. Dennis is a true progressive person. And that is what this country needs to bring us back to a better standing within the world community!

Please pick Hillary Clinton, Senator Obama. She has all the characteristics you are describing. She remains the top choice of over 40% of the party for the nomination. Please make the move that will bring us all together. You have the ability the unite the new with the old, to bring along the rest of the party with you on this quest for change. But I am afraid choosing someone else will just leave them bitter and indifferent. Please unite the party. Please choose Clinton.

Obama won't pick Hillary. Get over it. He needs someone with experience. Picking the china patterns for the White House banquets, and ignoring her husband's recreational activities is not experience, no matter what Hillary says. Hillary has proven herself to be innefectual. She tried to push through a healthcare system during her husband's administration, and failed miserably. She tried to run a campaign and failed miserably. In fact, she wouldn't even be a Senator, if the Clinton machine hadn't pulled a fast one on the New York electorate. Ask a New Yorker what she's actually done for New York.

We need someone as VP who can make a positive difference as a member of Obama's team. We need a VP who will be a part of the President's agenda, not fighting against it. We need a VP who will provide experience and judgement, and not throw a tantrum every time he or she doesn't get their way. That is NOT Hillary.

Like he said he will choose someone who will tell him what to do as he doesn't know anything himself, aside from raise taxes, have the market collapse and business lay off, move out or close up.
Then we'll hear the squealing from the "kids".
He'll be leaving 60,000 to 100,000 troops in Iraq and sending the others to Afghanistan. He is getting squishier on the troop withdrawal every day. Of course there will be troop withdrawal over time no matter who is pres. According to CONDINTIONS on the ground, in agreement with Iraqs gov.
Keep up to date with the Rocky Mtn News on protesters in Denver.
That convention will be a hoot. Today anarchists are trying to extort 50 million from the city. Ha. Oh these liberals. lol

I'm for Kathleen Sebelius -- she may not be able to deliver Kansas' electoral votes, but she might help in neighboring Missouri -- especially the Kansas City media markets. And, she'll play great in Ohio -- her father was governor there. I just hope he doesn't pic a boring white guy.

All those who say they won't vote for Barack if Hillary is not on the ticket - don't you think she would be more effective in a Cabinet position? VP is usually only a figure-head and she probably wouldn't have much more responsibility than she had as First Lady.

While having Hillary as VP would make a dream ticket, I would rather see her a Secretary of State or another position with great influence and power.

Besides, Hillary is young enough to follow up Barack regardless if he is here for one or two terms.

Either way, Hillary will be part of this administration in some shape or form.

The republican analyst are counting on the Youth not showing up this year, they're mockingly declaring OBAMAs youth power as not important. They have a point b/c I didn't vote the last election, and that was my 1st chance to vote for president. But this year, when it matters the most , LETS PROVE THEM WRONG. Lets get OUT THERE and let our voices be heard. This election is about US, not about the seniors in their 60s who are retired or about to. There's no telling of how worse the economy will be if we let the seniors elect another BUSH. They are less likely to feel the effects of another bush for 8 years than we are. I respect them but MANY OF THEM are less tolerant and too stuck in their ways to vote for a candidate that don't look like them. We, the youth are the Future. We are more tolerant and have met and worked with people from all works of life. So please, get out and vote like you did in the primaries. This is our OUR FUTURE , THIS IS OUR MOMENT, THIS IS OUR TIME, GO REGISTER NOW and LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD!!!!

BTW: my family is traditionally republican, and my grandparents are voting for McCain, But I realize this is more important to me than them.

Hillary should not be the VP when she is understands the issues far more than Obama. Go back to the debates- BO knows nothing and was even criticized by both Hillary and John E. She should not be hand holding this guy. I'd only vote for her if she is the nominee for President. There's too much media hype with Obama, his head is too big and frankly, I'm not buying into this marketing campaign.

I have to say one more thing. I wish these PUMA for Hillary people would give it a rest already. SHE LOST. I know it's disappointing, but SHE LOST based upon the rules she agreed to. Don't blame Obama and flush this country down the toilet for Hillary's strategic mistakes. I truly believe she could have won had she not ignored the caucus states...but she did and SHE LOST because of it. In a way, I feel bad for her, but lesson learned. If she runs again, hopefully she'll be the better candidate for it.

Stop and think for a moment why so many people will not support BHO. Stupid people like you play a part. Your comment demonstrates the level of your intelligence. When I glance over the comments on this Ticker it sure defines the intellect of the voters out there who are supporting BHO and it's a scary thought that they will go out and vote! Most of you sound like first time voters, thus, treating this election as some sort of "fashion scene."

If you wanna clench it, you are going to have to offer this to Hillary. She may decline but ya'll are really takin' a chance on folks not getting energized enough to get out and vote. If we get a republican, I agree, we deserve it, just like florida and nader votes the first time around. But when the elections are so evenly divided these daze, why in the world would you even have a second thought at the veep being the second most popular primary opponent (like most folks have done for the last hundred or so years)

Gen. Wes Clarke seemed like such a natural choice before the negative pub surrounding his "being a POW does not necessarily translate to good judgment/leadership" comments. Let's hope there is some redemption in the media in his immediate future. Short of that, I like Cynthia McKinney. She has incredible poise and foreign relations expertise.

("I'm going to want somebody with independence, who's willing to tell me where he thinks or she thinks I'm wrong...")

Now that's a radical change from the current administration.

By the way, all you people saying "No Hillary, no O'Bama" -- if you don't get over your bitterness, we're going to have another Republican in the White House. Get some perspective. I'm an O'Bama supporter, but if Hillary had won the nomination, I would have voted for her. It's called putting your country first.

Caroline Kennedy - now there's someone with lots of political experience! NOT! What a stupid choice to put her on the committee for a VP. Is this supposed to be representative of a man that makes informed decisions? What a joke....I'm surprised no one has really brought this travesty to light in the media.

I believe Senator Obama is about to make the largest and very possible the fatal mistake in his campaign. He is beginning to beleive in his inevitable election as president of the United States. I can't possibly envision him winning this election without Hillary Clinton on the ticket. If he is serious about putting the country first and his rockstar fame second he needs to announce Senator Clinton as his running mate immediately, meet with President Clinton and humble himself to accrept some advice that he desperately needs.I am 74 years old owen and operate my own small business and am struggeling like most other small businesses. I have vote in every presidential election since I became of age. If Obama doesn' t come down to earth soon he is going to loose a very close election and I am going to stay home for the first national election in my life.

My first choice would be Hillary however if she wants that VP spot she is sure keeping it a secret. She has been missing in action for months.
Obama in 08!
If you choose not to vote you are wasting a privilege that millions have died protecting. If that doesn't motivate you then Imagine McCain telling Hillary where to stick her precious Democratic Health Care plan!

Having monitored these "boreds" for months now, I have come to the conclusion that there is no REAL news. Only rumors, innuendo, and a lot of self imposed ignorance mainly aimed at Sen. Obama.
Fear and paranoia abound. The hatred and misinformation spread through these blogs, the media and e-mails is out of control. The GOP lied to us about the need for war in Iraq. This is an undisputed fact. They are still lying to us. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Fool me thrice shame on America.
We are worse than broke, we are in the hole trillions of dollars. This deficit will continue to grow under the GOP. That is the truth.
Those of you spouting 4000+ Americans dead "not so bad" are totally ignoring the millions of innocent Iraqi men, women and children killed as a result of our illegal invasion. The parents and spouses of our dead Americans surely would not agree that it is "not so bad".
Had the pilgrims been as afraid of change as some of you, there would be no America. The system is broken. Obama is not a messiah but he is the most honest and unselfish candidate running.
By the way, you seniors who are trying to survive on Social Security can kiss your butts goodbye if the GOP privatizes the SS fund. They have already cut back on benefits. Now they want to invest the whole fund in a stock market which crashes daily. ? Excuse me. My 401k fund is bleeding to death already. You call us Dems sheep? Please!
Vote for Obama.

Obama has to carry the whole ticket himself as there are no nationally known Democratic VP candidates.....he is still new to us and what we THOUGHT he stood for he's actually flipped on (FISA and troop withdrawal)....as much as he hates her I predict the only way he can create a solidly winning ticket---a real "homerun" ----is to pick Hillary and unify the Democratic party. Unfortunately I think Obama wants the spotlight too much on himself, and Hillary would steal too much of his thunder, so he'll pick some guy no one's ever heard of West of the Mississippi. Joanie, Amherst MA
