The Obama campaign launched a new Web site Thursday.
The Obama campaign launched a new Web site Thursday.

(CNN) – A day after the Obama campaign released an advertisement entitled “Low Road,” the presumptive Democratic nominee’s camp is following up with the Web site “Low Road Express.”

The new site collects media coverage – editorials, fact check articles, and video clips - about the strategies and tactics of Sen. John McCain’s campaign in recent weeks.

The Republican National Committee recently launched two Web sites focused on Obama. On Wednesday, the RNC rolled out “Audacity Watch,” a Web site that collects together video clips of media coverage about Obama and an RSS feed of information from GOP.com. Earlier this week, the RNC also launched “BarackBook,” a site that parodies Facebook, a popular social networking Web site where Obama has amassed more than a million supporters.

The Obama and McCain campaigns have traded fire this week as McCain released an ad entitled “Celeb” that likened Obama’s public notoriety with that of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. The Obama campaign quickly responded with the “Low Road” advertisement.

UPDATE: McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds issued the following statement about the Obama campaign's "Low Road Express" Web site: “Barack Obama’s campaign created his global celebrity status - we are celebrating it and informing voters of his inexperience. If there’s a low road in this campaign, Obama’s campaign paved it when they launched the first negative attack ad in this election.”

What happen to the Maverick? McCain senior advisor Steve Schmidt long time Protege of Karl Rove paved the low road in McCain's Campaign .......ATTACK ATACK AND ATTACK Again and Again
**McCain would rather lose his Dignity inorder to win*! You are a disgrace to Your PARTY!!!! **BE quick to Judge Yourself and slow to Judge OTHERS **
**McCain can you hold both of your arms up, come on NOW ...Because if you can't and the Police stop you they will take you to Jail for not obeying The LAW**OLD HOG JAW!!!

LOL McCain had to do something to get just a little bit of the attention. He had to cry , kick . whine and throw a tantrum for anyone somebody listen to him. Yes, McCain, I love me some Barack Obama. He is like a breath of fresh air.
MCCAin the exact opposite, stale air. Nice try old man but it isn't going to work.

As the saying goes while you are digging a ditch for someone else don't forget to dig one for yourself. Fair exchange is not highway robbery.

Derrick Beary   August 1st, 2008 12:32 am ET

sOMEHOW, Mc Cain should portray himself as the one who can put all our differences back , instead; his campaign portray two white girls whose caracters and habits are not welcome in this society. The way he portrays Barack has nothing to do with its plan how to solve issues we do fce now. He and its campaign are more divisive and reaaly play race card. Have You see Senator McCain having campaign tour where black people live?

clarity   August 1st, 2008 12:27 am ET

The Low Road Express, it's so comical and creative.
I love it!

McCain is as shifty as ANANSE the spider. McCain made a lame attempt to play the race card by blaming Obama of playing a card that is no where in Obama's campaign deck. A little slight of the hands, and voila, we are all taking about and blogging about race with McCain standing in the background still donning his spotless magician gloves. Hopefully America will show the masked magician, McCain we have bigger brains.

Hi,
I'm a resident of Columbus-Ohio and the "Low Road Express" Web site of Senator Obama is helpfull in the sense that we educated people in this country want the change. Hopefully, this website will portray for days, weeks and months what the Gop tried to do by smearing Barack.

It saddened me a lot to see John Mc cain taking this path which is the nasty one.

CCS   August 1st, 2008 12:23 am ET

What's crazy to me is that people are okay with the Republican attacks. Seriously? The best they've got is, "don't you hate how popular this guy is? Don't you hate that everyone but you loves him?"

In the world of reality and logic, if the majority of the people in the world admire Obama, it's probably you and not everyone else who's wrong, McCain.

Steve   August 1st, 2008 12:15 am ET

Anyone who's "proud" of that idiotic Britney/Paris commercial deserves a website like this against them. Great idea.

Barack you don't fight fire with fire. Please do not drop to McCain's level. "The Campaign of Whiners" are trying to pull you in the gutter
with them. Be patient and prepare for the debates. Remember a
smart man fights with his brains. Americans are smart people,
they can see that McCain is desperate. He will say and do anything
to win. Also, stay away from people like Ludacris and Bernie Mack, they
can be bought. Get plenty of rest before the convention. May the force
be with you Mr. President Elect.

Obama/Clinton   August 1st, 2008 12:02 am ET

Low Road and Still Straight Talk – We've known McCain for over 20 yrs, in 2000 he should have become the Republican nominee. He's proven himself to this country in fighting for it, literally. He's developed legislation and voted for or against other legislation without voting 'present'.

Obama who?, before Jan of 2007, only the State of Illinois residents knew of him and he won't even be around to finish his commitment to them if he's elected President.

Nasty – Nasty is as Nasty does so don't think you can fool this country like you did the folks of Illinois Senator Obama.

Independents and Hillary believers who just don't like you for what are the unknowns and your INEXPERIENCE will vote for McCain, a sure thing.

Change – there is good change and bad change. Good change is anything but what we have now in an 'Uniter that claimed he wasn't a Divider but a Dictator'.

Bad Change is another unknown – you.

Karl Rove was nasty, Jim Baker deceitful and the republicans stole the 2000 elections by 537 votes and a crooked Supreme Court Judge – Scalia

John McCain, reach across the isle now and pick Hillary as your V.P and show this country how uniting begins.

Phil Forreal   August 1st, 2008 12:01 am ET

This is a good way to fight back. Don't pull a John Kerry and just try to ignore the attacks. Show America just how desperate good "old" Johnny Boy is becoming.

At least Britney Spears and Paris Hilton know how to repeat. They have hit songs and movies. If they tell them so, they would know for sure Irak does not have border with Afganistan, and Putin is no longer president of Russia etc, etc, etc......I am sure they can read teleprompter, that is why they sing both beautifully.

Why will no report if theres anything to Sen. McCains ties to this organization some of us here in Florida are worried about his ties to big oil through this group. If there is no story then fine but when I google this and start to follow various links this is really troubling at least for a few of us.We are only seeking some straight talk..

Cry, cry, Bam Bam, cry, cry

Grow a pair, Bam Bam, get them back from Jesse and Michelle

DEBATE, cry baby; attend town hall meetings like a man

Go on Fox News

The old tired RACISM excuses ain't working anymore, ESPECIALLY since we all know how RACIST you and ugly Michelle are

Stop pimping out your daughters

DEBATE like a man – LOL – that is, if you ever get your (expletiveS deleted) manhood(s) back from Jesse, who is now under the bus alongside Michelle, who you are wisely now keeping silent

ROFLMAO! This is WAY better than ANY soap opera on TV! EVEN BETTER than old tired fat Oprah! I mean, Oprah is SO YESTERDAY! And she has you to thank for most of that

I mean, really, the old tired race card is SO yesterday – we've all lived through OJ, Michael Jackson, the Duke University fiasco that Al Sharpton STILL hasn't apologized for

Worst of all, we've all seen your educated behind call the Clintons RACIST all the while you attended a church (WITH your pimped-out daughters!) that was WAY more racist than ANYTHING I've ever seen in my entire lifetime! "White people invented AIDS just to kill Black people" comes to mind.........from a formerly beloved uncle who you prayed with before you decided to run for King of the Universe

I can't WAIT until you are back to organizing racist communities – now, THAT is what you are good at

Fugget about dancing – you dance like a White girl – fugget about bowling – you bowl like a Black man – fugget about basketball – you play basketball like a White man – fugget about bicycling – you bicycle like a gay man

Oh, you ARE good at celebrating your celebrity – like Paris and Britney

I'll give credit where it's due

You are EXTREMELY good at being in love with yourself

Tips For Barack   July 31st, 2008 11:54 pm ET

The Republican's want to make this election entirely about Barack focusing on the qualities they know white racists will find most irritating about him: he is loved, articulate, visionary etc. Barack needs to make McCain and Bush the issue...because that is what it is.

The Obama camp should let his ads answer the worst McCain charges and the candidate should resist the temptation to freelance his criticism of McCain on the fly. That needs to be focused with key words like OLD and SAME highlighted and repeated in every ad. He can point to McCain flip-flopping on a host of issue and yes, he can use humour to deflect some criticism. What he can not do is appear to be complaining everytime his opponents do something outrageous.

Tell the people how McCain has changed his positions on torture, immigration, tax cuts etc etc

Miguel Rivera   July 31st, 2008 11:52 pm ET

McCain, I hardly knew you.

Well, the Republicans started it, so the Democrats have the right to strike back.

Molly Weasley   July 31st, 2008 11:51 pm ET

The fact that McCain says he's "proud" of this ad shows how low he's fallen. He's a senator with a lackluster record and little accomplishments over 25 years. An independent analysis of ads so far in this campaign showed that the Obama campaign had run something negative about McCain in 10% of its ads but that the McCain campaign had gone negative two-thirds of the time.

Jim Q   July 31st, 2008 11:50 pm ET

Mr. McCain's nasty, personal attacks are evidence that his campaign has nothing of substance to offer the American people. Voters are interested in issues and potential solutions, not the gutter politics that the McCain campaign is serving up. Let's talk about solving our foreign policy mess, balancing the budget while providing health care and social security. That's what we want to hear!

Xavier   July 31st, 2008 11:49 pm ET

McCain has gone frm proud maverick to a sorry excuse for a man. The McCain of yesterday would be ashamed of the McCain of today. He has shown his true colors. He is no different than Bush, Rove, Chenneyor the rest of those elitists morons that have put us in the whole we are today. Karma is a funny thing, and it will come and bite them in their butts one day.

I guess it has got to get ugly. Although as a concerned American about gas prices, mortgage meltdowns, high prices in grocery stores and health insurance. I would rather be hearing how we are going to combat these issues that Bush has so affectively left us to deal with. If you ask me I believe that the economy and the war aren't that separate. We are paying too much to rebuild another nation while our country is falling apart. Now McCain wants to start a distractions and Obama is falling into his web. Although Obama has a right to counteract on his campaigns behalf. I really wish we did not have to take it there. CNN refuse to entertain us with the back and forth on issues other than the real issues we are being hit with and maybe it will all just come to a halt. Just maybe you (CNN) can be the wisest of them both.

PP   July 31st, 2008 11:43 pm ET

Lets accept it, the background of this presidential race is simply about white or not white, we all became human from monkeys in africa, the one who travelled to cooler places became white in color over time as environment made it happen, I am brown, but the basic abhorrence, abomination, animosity, animus, antipathy, aversion, bitterness, contempt, detestation, dislike, enmity, feud, grudge, hate, hostility, ill will, malevolence, malice, malignity, odium, prejudice, rancor, repugnance, resentment, revulsion, spite shown to other than white by an average white/uneducated/un-informed/senile persone is universal and too evident , though very subltle many times.

We can not chnage it vnow, it will go with time when this world becomes a global village and we stsrt respecting eachother as human and accept we are not perfect but we can always try for it for the sake of global humanity.

Everyone needs hope to survive otherwise we all should commit sucide and die. These are bad and selfish times everywhere but we donnoo. We should not envy the rich but rich also have responsibilities for the society because of which they have become rich. Most of them just dont feel or do anything about it. They forget we live only one life and once thats all is the game designed by God.

Things will settle themselves, this world has been ruled and being ruled by ignorants who miss the basic purpose of life to which they were brought in without choice and will go without choice.

You will agree this world need a new world order in order to survive the humanity and for next generations. There are few leaders who think about it. Others are same as usual self serving despots and obviously their croonies who lick their boots to serve their own purpose.
To be different you have to be different, to change things u need to change yrself and yr way of thinking. Immidite problems everyone has to face and faces. Ther is no going away and therfore we the humanhave survived. But we had coruage to look beyond it.

Climb the tree and see the jungle and decide where to go.reat u have to go to find your good mssion. Being experienced as cutting bushes and wondering around the jungle without knowing where u want to go is clearly stupid and not for the human for this age.

we have come a lot further and need not go back we need to dream think and act to go further and beyond for our next generations as we are indebted to them to bring us to this world.

Amen.

This man and his campagin want to holler the low road express. You talk about the kettle calling the pot black. Obama who made sexist remarks about Hillary and duck hunting( Of course anyone with a brain knows you use a shotgun to hunt ducks, showed his own stupidity). Then he has his rapper friend for years who he said has great talent , rap and say Hillary was an Irrevelant Bi--ch, say JOHN McCAIN should only be in a chair but paralyzed. The same one who has friends that are domestic terriost and stated they regretted not killing more americans in the bombings they did here. You know AYERS and that bunch. A reverend who is friends with Farrakkun the leader of the black muslims, and says GO___mn America and reffers to white people as WHITEY and CRACKER. Then you got people on top of that in his campagin calling anybody who did not vote for him as uneducated , gun toting, religous nut WHITE RACIST. After throwing poor old granny the typical white person under the bus after she raised him when his mother didn't. I think I would just keep my mouth shut.

McCain's campaign has totally swayed from there non-negative campaigning as he had promised. Shouldn't be surprised seeing that McCain is linked to Bush in almost every facet imaginable. For them ( and the RNC) to have the gaul to try and forget the most horrible 8 years in US history and deter the american people from focusing on the real issues shows the lack of respect the republicans and McBush has for this country. I bet that those that voted for Bush will vote for McCain and drive this country further into the ground. I feel sorry for you. How blind can you be? To continue this trend is futile and it shows the world that the USA is really Bias and not everyone is created equal. Hmm, I wonder if CNN will post this because they haven't posted my comments lately.

History is repeating itself again. With the way Bush has racked up the biggest deficit in U.S. history (after starting his presidency with a surplus) and is driving this country into the ground, it will be up to a Democrat to balance the budget and pick this country up out of the gutter (again). Just like the Bush-Reagan year's ran this country down and Clinton had to bring it back up, Obama will have to do the same. The republican's say their conservative's, what exactly do they claim to be conserving??? All's they know is to take from the poor and spend, spend, spend..., God help us if John McCain (McBush) get's elected.

Nat   July 31st, 2008 11:17 pm ET

Is CNN's David Gergen a PUMA in disguise?? I used to respect this man's view but after hearing him promote Hillary Clinton's bid for VP at every given opportunity (the same man who said during the primaries that Obama will have to watch his back if the Clintons are on his ticket) he just disgusts me! I guess it is open season for flip-flopping!

KP   July 31st, 2008 11:10 pm ET

Great! When do we get to focus on the issues that matter to the American people? Seems like this campaign is headed down the same old road to nowhere. It was the late great George Carlin that said, "All we do is rearrange the deck chairs on the Titantic every four years."

This is an edited version of my last post

This is purely a suggestion to cnn. I don't want this blogged. My Name is Josh Rivera phone number 520-481-0232. Please get this to someone quickly it needs to be considered. I have a strong, strong case that Obama will win Texas, or that Texas should at least be considered a swing state.

Texas: 2000

Gore 2,429,329 with 783,409 primary democ votes
Bush 3,796,850 with 1,164,399 primary repub votes

Texas: 2004

Kerry 2,832,704 with 770,793 total primary democ votes
Bush 4,526,917 incumbent

2008

Texas primary

dems: 2,818,599 votes (783,409 in 2000, 770,793 in 2004)
reps: 1,320,673 votes (1,164,399 in 2000, incumbent in '04)

If you guys would look at the extremely dramatic turnout that the democrats had in this last primary in Texas, you would see that a huge democratic movement is very much alive in Texas that was absent in past elections and primaries. If you look at the primary turnout for democrats during the '00 and '04 elections you'll see that they were well under 800,000 for both elections. The republicans obviously had an easy win there in both cases. In 2008, however, the democrats earned whopping 2,818,599, almost QUADRUPLE THEIR PAST PERFORMANCES IN THIS STATE!! The republican primary tunout grossed a mere 160,000 more votes, not even a 15 percent growth. The democrat vote well over doubled the republican vote. Now I know primaries are a different creature than elections, but I think they are far more accurate indicators then the polls which don't even gauge 5 percent of the voter atmosphere. McCain's personal support was very weak in Texas compared to either Obama or Clinton. I think an honest speculation of these facts can make a good case for the democrats winning this state, and an absolute solid case that Texas is at least a swing state. I appeal not for Obama or the democrats (i think my blogs reveal I hate both republicans and democrats, hence my name "The Independent One"), but as an appeal to accuracy. It is unfair to not give the people of America a more accurate appraisal of the election situation. I hope you guys call me to at least give me your views on this data.

It is crystal clear that McCain has decided to take the Low Road – 4 negative ads in the succession loaded with personal attacks. He who said he would run a clean, honorable campaign. And to think I actually pitied him when W played those nasty black child rumors against him in 2000. He will suffer the consequences dearly for those ads.

McCrypt just updates the Republican race attack play book by adding a few new words, i.e. 'exotic' or [insert daily euphemism for "different" here]. So, this Southern 57 year old white guy, hopes that Obama keeps ambushing McCrypt on the only road he knows how to travel, the low road. After all the "Straight Talk Express" seems to have a prepaid toll tag for that tollway!

Phillip   July 31st, 2008 10:26 pm ET

Anyone else find it profoundly pathetic that the nastiest thing that the McCain campaign can come up with to smear Obama with (and they are the Republicans, nasty is their game) is the fact that he's more popular than McCain is? It simply amazes me that they are even trying to use this as a basis for attack.

Sadly, the average American is just weak-minded enough that hearing someone talk in a serious, alarmist voice about Obama's immense popularity while the right images are flashed across a screen will brainwash them into thinking that this is a horrible thing.

Aunt   July 31st, 2008 10:25 pm ET

Grumpy Old Man McCain, with his 500.00 Shoes.

What the McCain campaign doesn't want people to know, according to one GOP strategist I spoke with over the weekend, is that they had an ad script ready to go if Obama had visited the wounded troops saying that Obama was…wait for it…using wounded troops as campaign props. So, no matter which way Obama turned, McCain had an Obama bashing ad ready to launch.

Obama, Axelrod and Company reached a new low in dirty, Chicago-style politics months ago.

Everyone knows, so he can take off the choir-robe now. You can't cry RACE everytime someone criticizes you.

Plus, he's played the race-card so many times, it's like the "Little Boy Who Cried Wolf" ...so much over-kill no one believes it. And when the networks try to push the race-victim issue, it's a turn-off that's causing ahuge backlash.

What a fabulous website!!!!

My only hope is that people see right through this nasty turn that the McCain camp has taken. I think they realize that McCain has no real solutions, and certainly none that majority of Americans are buying into, so now it's on to plan B....Distract, Distract, Distract. Maybe if all we do is focus on Obama listen to nothing but negative coming from the McCain campaign, maybe just maybe we'll miss the fact that McCain is nothing but an empty shell...I honestly cannot understand how this race is even remotely close; I truly cannot understand anyone willing to vote for this man...

Go Obama!! This truly is our time to take back this country and leave it better for our children! There truly is a "fierce urgency of now", we cannot wait 4 or 8 more years...

I'm adding my comment here because "comments were closed" where I wanted to add it, probably because they were anti-Obama, and we all KNOW where CNN headquarters are:

Whine, whine, cry, cry is all Bam Bam does

Let's see him MAN UP for a "change" – let's see the crybaby empty suit actually debate or attend a side-by-side town hall meeting

Let's see him stop playing the race card

Let's see him ACTUALLY explain WHAT his tired boring "Hope, Change, Unity" speech (I am SO SICK of his speeches! Thank GOD for the mute button!) that the MSM (both male and female) creams over actually MEANS

OH, GOODNESS, HE CAN'T ACTUALLY DO ANY OF THOSE THINGS!!!!!!

He can; however, play the race card, which is hilarious, really, considering his formerly beloved uncle Reverend who is now under the bus alongside "dapping" a.k.a. "fist-bumping" racist Michelle

LOL! Are the African-Americans EVEN taking into consideration that if their Messiah DOES manage to achieve the impossible AND attain the Presidency that the obsolete cries of "RACISM" will no longer matter?

Poor "disadvantaged despite Affirmative Action" Blacks will no longer be able to scream "RACISM" anymore, and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson will be out of work – poor babies.....

What a shame – OJ and Michael Jackson might actually end up in jail where they belong, and maybe Al Sharpton will have to apologize to the Duke University students

ROFLMAO – Our government has APOLOGIZED to African-Americans.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE is the APOLOGY to women!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE is the APOLOGY to gay people!!!!!!!!!!!

..Thank goodness that the empty, um, suit, um, uh, stuttering CLOWN Obama will HAVE to, um, uh, attend at least three, um, debates – that's the LAW, but I'm not holding my breath – he might be too busy playing basketball that day.......and, of course, the MSM and the DNC will say that it's FINE that he's breaking every rule because He is God!

WHO CARES ABOUT VOTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The DNC HAS CAUCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE DNC RULES (AND HAS RULES)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama says woe is me, for the millionth time.

McCain has been one of the nicest, Candidates In this election. Obama knows this.

Obama has used his own race card on Himself. Then try to pawn if off as someone else doing it.

Obama Attacks and Smear Campaigns have always been evil and ugly. Getting others to do his dirty work and then playing innocent.

Grow up Mr Obama

Your the one who lies, cheats and would say anything to attack someone. Your the one who runs a dirty evil Campaign, then tries to accuse everyone else. Your the one Attacks, Blames and blows smoke screens.

Your are the one who throws around a race card when it suits you. Your the one who uses and abuses and plays the minds of the American people. Your the man who throws propaganda to the media.

Your the one who has been marketed by your marketing and PR team to be a Super Star and the messiah.

You are the evil of evil, The smooth talking con Artist, and mind manipulating one.

You Are the one who is playing the weak and Pathetic one crying, look mom they are picking one me.

You are the one using and running on Your blackness to win pity and votes.

You are the one who has no background, no base to stand on, You are nothing but a speech and a hope and a prayer.

Your are the one who has done nothing for this country or the American people, besides throw propaganda at them.

Your are the one who thinks more of Himself, His Image and his world rating, then you do of the best interest of the country or the American People.

You are the One who has condemned your boss, and the Government of this Great country. You have no honor, you have no loyalty, You Proved in Germany, you have no Patriotism.

Your Goal is for yourself and your Black Liberation Religion.

I'm glad to hear there will be one website where people can go to find out about all the stories that McCain makes up.

Many of us are very surprised as we watch John mcCain dishonor himself. The John McCain we are seeing every day is not the John McCain that the media has been praising over the last 10 years.
What a disappointment to learn that the man is insecure, nasty and petty, who behaves much like a spoiled child.

These are very dangerous things to have as a leader of this country and I don't believe he has any business at all even running for the office of president.

Salina, Washington, DC   July 31st, 2008 9:55 pm ET

Obama only commented about everything republicans and other online racist freaks have been saying about him. From this, the McCain camp said Obama is playing the race card?!? If someone else says those same things about Obama, it ok, its just politics, but if Obama says it (in his own defense), then he's playing the race card!! Give me a dang break!!! McCain has nothing but bogus excuses not to vote for Obama, he has no solutions and no clue about the economy. Any vote for McCain is a vote for Bush and a racist vote against Obama. McCain has no true policy for change, he approves Offshore drilling which will only benefit oil companies, Bush and Cheney, not americans and he wants to continue a useless war that is costing the US trillions of dollars!!!! What sense does that make? Who do you think will be doing the drilling? Making millions while we're still paying outrageous prices at the tank, OIL COMPANIES dummies!!! BTW, big oil donated $1.1 MILLIONS to McCain's campain, that's where his loyalties lie.

Obama is the ONLY answer.

And what about charges against Sen. Ted Stevens for unreported gifts. Why isn't Obama being prosecuted on the same charges after his underhanded real estate dealings with Rezko and the fact that Rezko personally paid for the fence around the Obama mansion? Why is Obama above the law and political scrutiny? Is the press afraid that Obama will play the race card on them?

John McCain and his campaign are truly "jealous" of the reality that Barack Obama has won the hearts of not only the American people but thousands and thousands of people all over the world! The last two days of John McCain and his campaign have only shown the American people and others throughout the world what a terrible President John McCain would make. We have experienced (8) years of George Bush and Karl Rove politics!! The American people deserve a REAL LEADER FOR PRESIDENT. John McCain is merely a "follower", who speaks from both sides of his mouth like Bush and Rove!! Barack Obama WILL BE the next President of the United States! John McCain managed to dig himself into a DEEP HOLE yesterday and today, and that hole will only get deeper as time goes by! His "respectable campaign that won't bash his opponent" philosophy somehow went completely down the drain! And now he is "proud" of his campaign????????????????????????

Timmy Coffee   July 31st, 2008 9:35 pm ET

The American media has long hidden from the public the astonishing fact that as a long term US Senator, John McCain has only a rudimentary understanding of both domestic and national security issues. His petulant, spoiled child disposition makes him un- presidential. He is a reckless individual. A vote for him is a reckless, irresponsible vote. This concerted racist campaign he has now decided to run demonstrates he has no decency. In the last week, he has made it perfectly clear that his campaign is based on the rebirth of Jim Crow era politics. The incessant comments that Senator Obama is presumptuous, arrogant and/or cocky are all code words for he is an uppity Negro who can’t be trusted to know his place. Along with the constant red security alerts, which the Bush administration will start up within the next month, it wouldn’t be surprising for McCain-Bush to propose a national poll tax before the November election. America is struggling after 16 years of Clinton and Bush. McCain would be the final nail in America’s coffin.

I thought there was no such thing as an attack ad in this election. I thought they were called "Contrast Ads" now.

McCain jokes about his age, and everyone is fine with it, since everyone gets old. It can be funny.

Obama can't joke about his race, since not everyone can be black. It is too serious an issue for some that it can not be funny.

McCain wants offshore drilling to increase American Oil supply. How about instead, we make it so the multi-national oil companies can not sell American Drilled Oil overseas. That would quadruple the supply of American Based Oil right here. Right now. It would force the Oil Companies to increase their refining capacity and would flood the market here with gasoline and diesel.

The Oil Companies have found out that the American people will pay over $4 a gallon for gas. We will never see gas under $3 ever again. Regardless of how much Oil we drill or gas we have.

The Straight Talk Express has taken a nasty turn into the gutter. Sen. John McCain has resorted to lies and distortions in what sounds like an increasingly desperate attempt to slow down Sen. Barack Obama by raising questions about his patriotism. Instead of taking the Democrat down a few notches, these baseless attacks are raising more questions about the Republican's campaign and his ability to control his temper.

The most offensive line comes from McCain himself. The Arizona senator has repeated that Obama "would rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign." That is one of the more outrageous statements by a major political party candidate seeking the presidency. The looming choices about the long-festering war in Iraq are not between winning and losing but about how quickly or slowly the United States can reduce its military forces without jeopardizing recent security gains. Even McCain acknowledges that, and insulting Obama in such a reckless way is not presidential.

That is only one example of the darker tone enveloping the McCain campaign since several of Karl Rove's acolytes took the wheel. A new McCain ad suggests that while Obama traveled abroad last week he "made time to go to the gym but canceled a visit with wounded troops. Seems the Pentagon wouldn't allow him to bring cameras." That's a compelling punch line, but it's below the belt.
That's intense. McCain chose this path. He sold whatever was left of his soul to the Rove machine. It was a risky decision and it sure doesn't look like it's paying off. Instead, in the past few weeks, McCain has completely reshaped his image. He's become another puppet of Karl Rove, just like George Bush.

And, the Obama campaign decided to fight back with a new ad, "Low Road," documenting just some of independent sources criticism of McCain — and linking McCain to the candidate he's morphed into — George Bush: John McCain how much lower can you go. And your wife will be working with CASTRO GET REAL MAN…WE DON`T WANT COMMANDER WITH CASTROL IN THERE POCKET….GEEZ

Roger from CA   July 31st, 2008 9:12 pm ET

I'm sorry..... what???? OBAMA launched the first negative attack ad???? This is not even a matter of interpretation. Please, America: pay attention to these lies!!

And I still don't get the logic of this "celebrity" angle. How does "celebrity" equate with "inexperience"? Ronald Reagan was a celebrity, but I'd think that Mr. Bounds would rather eat his ill-fitting suits than say that disqualified the "Gipper" from politics. Was Chuck Heston too inexperienced to lead the NRA? How about McCain-supporter (on all but oil drilling) Arnold Schwartzenegger??

Funny, it seems to me that, contrary to such August examples, Obama toiled for YEARS as a community acitivist, law professor, and state senator before ANYONE ever heard of the man outside Illinois. So, he spent years thinking about and shaping public policy issues before he spoke at the 2004 Dem Convention. Sounds like political experience to me.

The difference between Obama and McCain is not an issue of experience, it is that Obama is not beholden to the same dead-ender policies of the Bushies, and the Republicans generally.

Because the media was hammering McCain for his negative ads so mercilessly (although they were wrong), I felt sorry for him. Today I feel sorry for Obama because the media is doing the same thing to him. They put their own twist on what the candidates say whether it is actually the truth or not. It is getting to be time for the election and get this over with.

Race: Black against White. Maybe Obama thought it would work because sexism worked for Clinton. Only God really knows who the next President will be. We can guess and second guess all we want. We aren't the ones in control

We are all so short sighted right now and thinking only of our own woes. Bush's ratings are low, mostly due to the war and cost of the war which affects out economy. But if the war basically ends and he helps with foreclosures and helps relieve gas price woes, he will go down in history as a great president – just not until historians put all the big picture together.

Sacto Joe   July 31st, 2008 8:43 pm ET

The best thing I heard Senator Obama say about the recent negative attack ads by the McCain camp was something to the effect that he is spending his time trying to tear down his opponent rather than focus on the issues.

Senator Obama needs to respond to these negative ads, yes, but he also needs to put out ads that DO focus on the issues!

For example, he needs to point out that putting resources towards drilling for offshore oil does NOTHING to lower our dependence on oil in general.

He needs to challenge Senator McCain on this issue by coming up with a plan to decrease demand for oil/gasoline. As less gasoline is used, the price will drop, according to the law of supply and demand.

How about some kind of rebate for tuning up your car with new plugs, and getting your tires pumped up? Something along those lines.

Eight years ago McCain was a nice guy, someone I wanted to win the White House, now he has become a pig in politics. He is the reason we need someone like Obama, someone new. McCain has become more personal against Obama than any other Presidential candidate in American history. I now despise the pig. He does not deserve to be treated with the respect one should give a Presidential candidate or a war hero. His actions since he left the service leave a lot to be desired, starting with the Keating Five. I am also starting to despise those who support him. For the record, I have not voted for a Democratic President since I started voting, starting with Richard Nixon, but I will this time, and I am going to give him lots of money. It is time for change and McCain is demonstrating he is not the one to do it.

Everyone be nice to BARACK!

Dont insult him for his choice of friends; lately, its the aptly named
Ludacris.

Don't call him on the dumb things he says.

I think its all a stage game to get the conservatives riled up, and fuel the so-called negativity from their end.

Why? Because I dont think Barack nor his campaign people are stupid.

They know what they are doing. But its overkill at this point.

joseph   July 31st, 2008 8:23 pm ET

Obama needs to stop spending so much time complaining about McCain whining and just stick to the facts. He needs to air commercials about the following facts: (1) McCain's experience has not taught him that Iraq and Afghanistan don't border each other. (2) McCain has agreed that a withdrawal might be warranted in 16 months. (3) McCain's misstatement about the history of the progress of the war in Iraq should be highlighted. (4) McCain made the remark about 100 years in Iraq. (5) McCain said he didn't know much about the economy. (6) The incident with McCain speaking and Lieberman whispering in his ear.

dgordon   July 31st, 2008 8:23 pm ET

OK repubs, where's the beef? McCain is charging Obama with saying he will tax electricity. Prove it. This is just another pile of BS from a campaign that has no positive message. We're not all as stupid as you think we are (no thanks to the current education system in the U.S.). We aren't all going to believe something just because FOX news spews it out. Thank God there's only 3 months left of this garbage.

At last, Obama camp is responding and swiftly and with style.I was beginnen to get nervous. McCain "proud of it". I know in my guts McCain is not comfortable with the turn of event. He wont win this election on mereits and the political climate doesn't favor him. He is doing what he accuses the senator form Ilinois from doing: politics. The good senator fro Arizona is drifting away, just lost all its credibility even with right minded replubicans.

Steve Harrison   July 31st, 2008 8:11 pm ET

My question is are they just as excited that the McCain camp is doing the same fact checking.

Timothy   July 31st, 2008 8:11 pm ET

The Republicans are a bunch of corruption and don'nt listen to some of these Republicans if you do we will have a bigger slumping economy and more failed foreign policy. Vote Mccain and that is what the American People wil get another Bush Administration and will be sorry. Mccain is another Bush American People.

Allen in Hartwell, Ga.   July 31st, 2008 8:09 pm ET

Somehow, someway, someday, voters in America will get the idea that the GOP's favorite campaign strategies are to scare the voters and lie about the other party. It's never about their candidates.

Voice of Reason   July 31st, 2008 8:08 pm ET

1) McCain is actually accusing the Obama campaign of 'negative attack ad's ? That's taking hypocrisy to a new level.

2) It seems that this formula somehow works for the GOP: The more outrageous the lie, the better. According to Senator McCain, the whole invasion of Iraq has been wildly successful. I have to wonder what will come out in the next campaign ad... 'Barack Obama is too old and feeble to be president' or maybe, 'The Obama campaign is in too deep with the oil industry' – or maybe 'Barack Obama is out of touch with the American people'.

3) The McCain camp has stopped talking about their own plans, and what good they have to offer the world. They spend all their time talking about Obama, accusing Obama, criticising Obama, and trying to refute Obama. Then they have the audacity to blame the media for being 'all Obama, all the time'. LOL!

Matt, Manchester, CT   July 31st, 2008 8:08 pm ET

TheTruthHurts   July 31st, 2008 8:07 pm ET

OK, where are the adults in the campaign. This "low road express" oughtta be the last attempt at dispelling the myths through a website. "fight the smears" didn't work but this one may have some staying power.

Frankly, I just want this entire campaign to grow up. McCain is getting no points with me by appealing to the base nature of people instead of talking policy. Being proud of that ad is a political miscalculation.

Vig   July 31st, 2008 8:06 pm ET

The lowest road is the road Obama has taken.

Attacking fellow democrats.

Stirring up his supporters to do likewise.

Getting AAs to threaten the Superdelegates into installing Obama.

Thriving on the racial division he has created.

revolution is inevitable.

Democracy itself over loyalty to democratic party   July 31st, 2008 7:50 pm ET

Obama has used the lowest campaign tactics of ANY candidate- race baiting, labeling others as racist, encouraging his ugly supporters into engaging in divisive, vulgar and vile attacks against fellow Americans.

In the end, Americans will say no to such dirty tactics of gut, eliminate the other candidate and then win by default.

Obama's big mistake was exploiting racial tensions and playing the race card and capitalizing on how he is " different " than previous candidates.

He does not know what he is talking about, his spokepeople are so arrogant and clueless about the issues that the only thing they can do is to talk nonsense.

Thw difference with these two parties launching websites is that Obama's supporters actually know how to go online and see them.

I do wish both McCain and Obama would both stick to the issues more than they are right now, but the point made about Obama's "Celebrity Status" is spot on, what else can you call it? The funny things is that Obama can attribute more of his popularity to people's dislike of Bush which can only take you so far before you have to stand on more than a platform of "Change" which is incredibly unspecific and rather shallow in itself. If McCain can be more specific, the election may be his.

Maggie Muggins From Selwyn   July 31st, 2008 7:29 pm ET

Why not just come right out and tell the truth. McCain hasn't had one original idea since this campaign began. All his policies are Bush/Cheney policies and even changing from being against off shore drilling for oil to being in favour of it was an original Bush policy but then McCain got the big 1 dollar plus donation from big oi.

Steve   July 31st, 2008 7:19 pm ET

Yeah, RNC, that's what Americans are looking for. We're looking for you to spend our hard-earned contributions to McCain and you people, to develop parodies of Obama. We're looking for you to develop ads linking Obama to Paris Hilton. We're looking for McCain to spew false accusations and distortions, just like Rove. Yes, this is exactly what Americans want. We don't care about the spiraling cost of living. We don't care that oil speculators have taken the cost of fuel out of control to the point that it is in danger of ruining our economy. We don't care about spiraling healthcare costs. We don't care that the US looks like a bunch of idiots to the rest of the world. We don't care that the Bush administration has taken national debt from 128 billion in the black to 450+ billion in the red. We don't care that Bush is spending 10 billion dollars A MONTH to fund a war that is chasing ghosts IN THE WRONG COUNTRY. All we want you to do is make fun of your opponents.

I strongly suggest that the RNC get off your fat butts, get out into the country and listen to the American people. We are VERY unhappy with what you and the Bush administration have done. Pay up your bills down at the fat cat club. You're about to be out of a job.

McCain's attacks help these uneducated and ignorant individuals feel validated in their choice to not vote for Sen. Obama. As they say "Ignorance is Bless". Let's remember that it is the "undecided voters" that we are trying to reach at this point. I have a feeling that this group of “undecided voters” will make a wise and educated choice. In the mean time, Sen. McCain can keep up his three-ring circus act to amuse those bias and easily persuaded voters. It's there money he's wasting.

Obama learned the Carl Rove handbook and used it against Hillary, and that was fine, now he can't take the heat?? He had better get used to it, it's just now starting, if he can't play the game, maybe he should step back and sit down on the porch in a rocking chair and let the ELECTED nominee Senator Clinton beat the republicans, because Obama can't do it.

Obama needs to counter the lies coming from the GOP somehow. There are too many idiots right here in America that will actually believe the GOP lies and manipulations and wouldn't you know it, most of them are in the South, the racist and uneducated society of America.

Why is it that in every election the Democrats want to talk issues and the Republicans want to talk trash. Can't McCain hold onto a thought long enough to express it when it comes to solving our Country's problems instead of making stupid allegations against Barack Obama?

irish   July 31st, 2008 6:23 pm ET

This is disgusting!!! Both of these candidates should be focusing on the issues instead of "well, you hit me first" responses to each other. When are we going to get more then the two party system in this country, when are we going to hold congress and are elected officials responsible for the promises that they they make to the american people. When are we going to have a goverment that works together in solving problems then them being worried about the there seat count in each of there own parties. Our congress needs to be thrown out on there head's. We the American people are letting these politicians get away with murder. When are "we the people" going to take a stand and stand up for what "We the people" are paying these politicans to do. They don't even listen to the american people at ALL!!!!!

Martha in Lake View, SC   July 31st, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Surely I am not the only one that finds this carping, nasty-toned ad commentary tiresome. I really do not want to have to hear it. I would much rather hear about what each candidate believes is a plan to do something about a specific problem facing the American worker. I would like to be turned on by thoughtful comments that present a positive plan for change-solutions that improve problems that regular Americans face.

The John McCain we use to know...fallen by the waistside. Unfortunately, McCain has chosen to listen to his Republican counterparts, and it is taking him down that ROAD OF NO RETURN.

They have convinced him that Negative Attack's do work (look at past Elections)

Fortunately, American's have expressed the fact that-OUR COUNTRY
NEEDS A POSITIVE DIRECTION OF GETTING THROUGH ALL THE HARDSHIPS WE NOW FACE.

NEGATIVE CAMPAIGNS=NEGATIVE GOVERNMENT

AMERICA NEEDS NO MORE OF THE SAME!

M. Winners, Mesa, AZ   July 31st, 2008 5:47 pm ET

To bad that the Obama campaign had to resort to this site just to offset the smear fear Rovian campaign that McLame and company is now running. I can only guess that the two repugs sites gave them little choice.
To bad that the "Bible & Gun Club of the Ozarks" crowd that this is aimed at will never visit it – they will be to busy visiting the McLame/RNC sites set up just to trash Obama. I can hear their "YeeHaws" from here...

I have found the ads released by the McCain camp to be disgusting. It's sad the a tired, old, angry, man has finally lost any dignity he possessed when this campaign began, and it's even more unsettling that the Obama camp have to resort to the Low Road Express in defence against the petty, untrue, and demeaning ads the McCain camp have created. CSC

Mark Schlueter   July 31st, 2008 5:44 pm ET

I can't believe that John McCain is using Karl Rove tactics. Rove is so good at presenting 25% of the facts and leaving you to drawer the in correct conclusion. I am a republican but the last Republican I voted for the President's father. Since then the republicans have relied on mis-infomation campaigns to gain public office. Everyone makes mistakes and the democrats have made theirs but they were mistakes. I feel the republicans motto since the mid 1990s is that the ends totally justify any means necessary. McCain's comments are 2 dimentional when today's problems are muti facited. I hope the campain gets back to the issues but I will vote democrat again because of these type of tactics. By the by wasn't it Rove that derailed McCain in 2000?

Chris from NY   July 31st, 2008 5:43 pm ET

We saw it coming and it's now here. I had expected what's going on but I never expected McCain to go this low. That's why George Bush gave it to him hard in the 200 election and I am glad Obama is not laying low on it either. It's going to get uglier but I am sure we will get through it.

What I couldn't belive though is the fact that McCain as old as he is can be this childish. It's no suprise I've always beleived that age has nothing to do with experience neither does experience have anything to do with wisdom. He is an old man that didn't learn from what he went through with George Bush and will never learn until his poll goes up in flames.

Good for Obama's staff for not taking it lying down like Kerry did.
At least he Low Road Express has actual quotes from newspapers.

It doesn't invent stuff like McCain's telling people that the oil crises is Obama's fault. Rubbish . Now, the GOP is using 'celebrity' like it is a dirty word ( remember the GOP made Liberal a dirty word.)..

Frankly I think it would be great if our President once again could be admired like Kennedy was. We have been hated so long we forget what it might be like to bring a positive image to others on this small globe of a world.

Sadly those who don't take time to really listen belive all this rancor.. And we might just get another Bush term after all.

Obama's success is due largely to his campaign's ability to leverage the internet. He refuses to participate in debates, because he cannot think on his feet. This website is just another way for him to try and get info out without actually having to discuss it.

We do not need a President unable to conduct daily business without a website and cue cards telling him what to say and do.

You thought that Obama was going to take on your request to have a debate once a week for 10 weeks. You see, Obama doesn't answer to your call when you want it and how and when you want it. If McCain is able to focus everything on Obama, than Obama will lose (so would everybody; nothing can stand up to that). McCain's campaign is being run by fools who would run the Republican Party into the ground. He accuses Obama of being able to lose a war to win an election, while he is willing to sacrifice his party's good name to win an election.

THE WORLD IS WATCHING... if McCain is elected, the intelligence of the American people will be about as respected as Iran.

I can't beleive that this is the level of debate.

Not what I expect from a serious candidate and a serious party. Just another example of how the Republican party is not in touch with the American people, people who want grown-up solutions to serious problems. McCain has become a joke.....has Rove already joined his team? This turn to the negative and ugly has Rove written all over it......

Whats left in your wallet?   July 31st, 2008 5:31 pm ET

Liars always forget their lies, right John?

JT   July 31st, 2008 5:30 pm ET

Hahaha. This is hillarious. Bravo to the Obama campaign.

Tommy   July 31st, 2008 5:30 pm ET

The way McCain is acting, they should make it "The Straight Jacket Express."

Nando, Florida   July 31st, 2008 5:30 pm ET

LMAO way to hit back Obama !!!

Aunt   July 31st, 2008 5:30 pm ET

What the McCain campaign doesn't want people to know, according to one GOP strategist I spoke with over the weekend, is that they had an ad script ready to go if Obama had visited the wounded troops saying that Obama was...wait for it...using wounded troops as campaign props. So, no matter which way Obama turned, McCain had an Obama bashing ad ready to launch.

I'm So Disappointed In Sen. McCain A Liar and A Cheat

This website is soooo LAME!! There is nothing really on it. I really like BarackBook and Audacity watch. Those websites are really funny!! Audacity Watch is a really good sight because it has lots of information about how Obama is not ready to be commander and chief. Obama's team has really failed this time. Obama has played the "Race-Card" and he is just like "Spears" and "Hilton". Just go cry about it Obamabots! :-)

Substance over the Symbol!! McCain '08!!!

Corey, Maryland   July 31st, 2008 5:29 pm ET

haha thats awesome!!

Obama Richardson 2008!!

Ralph   July 31st, 2008 5:29 pm ET

And McCain said that he is proud of going negative.

Patrick Henry, Fort Myers   July 31st, 2008 5:29 pm ET

What a propaganda machine he has!!!

Even the title of the web site–doesn't sound very "high road".
Though both campaigns have taken some pretty cheap shots lately (how else can they contrast the 6 degrees between them)–this is really amazing. He may not become President, but he'll surely have a large group of connected supporters for whatever his next career step will be–perhaps U.N. Director?

Tom in CA   July 31st, 2008 5:29 pm ET

..Oh come on Barack...it's just John's Tau protein tangles causing him to act this way!

justin in CO   July 31st, 2008 5:28 pm ET

so necessary! not at all too soon, either

mccain, in arbitrarily accusing obama of playing the race card today is actually falling right into line with what obama said the repubs would do- play into fear, in part based on his race.
mccain knows accusing obama of playing the race card is going to freak out a lot of apprehensive voters, whether or not it's a credible accusation.

this must be addressed, and not via republican spin tactics

Vegas Barbie for Obama   July 31st, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Good for Senator Obama! While I admire his mastery of the "high road", too many people take his kindness for weakness and sooner or later, one must fight fire with fire! McCain has been stacking websites with so-called "negative images" of Obama (which amount mostly to the meanderings of an old man's paranoid mind), so it is about time that Future POTUS Obama responded as such...Quid pro quo!

This is starting to get really funny...

Linda31   July 31st, 2008 5:23 pm ET

Okay, I have to say both campaigns are losing it. This is beneath Obama's campaign. Let the media talk about how low Mccain has gotten.

are you done yet?   July 31st, 2008 5:23 pm ET

the only thing Mccain does is make us support Obama more....another DONATION thanks John

Venus   July 31st, 2008 5:22 pm ET

Ha,ha,ha!

I love it! The Low Road Express to no-where!

Robert Wooller, West Yorkshire England   July 31st, 2008 5:22 pm ET

Another great move from the Obama camp!!!

Brina   July 31st, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Obama I'm proud of you. Don't let the mean spirited people get to you. Keep taking the high road and sticking to the facts. There is a lot of work to do but we've got your back in a positive type of way.

v.a.   July 31st, 2008 5:20 pm ET

good! don't let the sleezy mcsenile sloths get away with their bs. they aren't dealing with john kerry. obama will actually respond with truth.

the desperate mccain campaign has their heads stuck so far up their butts they don't realize they are digging their own grave. can't wait for the negativity to backfire.
