This statement from the GOP head simply proves that Republicans will say and do anything to get elected; even if it means throwing each other under the bus. It is further prove how despicable that party has become.

Shameful, absolutely shameful, yet tupical and not surprizing........

Good advice. If the party big-wigs don't believe in the party, why should America? This is another sign that even the Republicans know that they have failed the nation and that it is high time we had a Democrat in the white house. They have failed America in every rerspect: they turned surplus into deficit, depleted our economy, sent our boys and girls to go and die in a war that they would not send their own children to, they were no where to be found when the Katrina disaster happened. Away with Senator McCain and his party. Vote Obama

IS THAT NOT VERY INTERESTING? REPUBLICANS ARE RUNNING AWAY FROM THEIR PARTY AND THEY ARE TELLING US TO VOTE FOR THAT PARTY?THE TRUTH IS THAT ANYONE VOTING REPUBLICAN OR MCCAIN IN THIS ELECTION WILL HAVE HIM/HER SELF TO BLAME FOR THE PERILS OF THE NEXT FOUR YEARS OR SO FOR THEY WILL BE THERE IF MCCAIN GETS INTO THAT OFFICE.

HOW CAN ANYONE VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS NOTHING TO OFFER BUT JUST TO CRITICIZE AND FIND FAULTS.

MCCAIN,AMERICANS DONOT NEED A WAR LEADER,THE REST OF THE WORLD ARE LOOKING FOR PEACE AND NOT WAR. WE WANT SOME ONE WHO CAN TAKE THIS NATION OUT OF THE PIT YOU AND YOUR PARTY HAVE THROWN US ALL INTO.

WE WANT SOMEONE WHO WILL BE ABLE TO NEGOTIATE PEACE.
IF OBAMA HAS BECOME A WORLD CELEBRITY......GREAT....WE ADMIRE THEM, WE FOLLOW THEM, WE IMITATE THEM, WE LOVE THEM, WE DO NOT GO TO WARS WITH THEM.THANK GOD AMERICA CAN NOW PRESENT A CELEBRITY TO THE WORLD AND NOT A NAPOLEON .

Gee, it's pretty bad if your own party chairman tells you to avoid being seen at its convention and to feel free to criticize the party. What does that say about current state of the Republican party for it to be giving that kind of advice to its candidates?

Skip the convention and then, [gasp], violate Ronnie's 11th commandment (thou shalt not speak ill of another party member). Thinks must be getting pretty desperate in the Republican party these days.

Does it matter? Are people really that dumb that they can't see that this party is going nowhere and has no new ideas. There answer to the oil addiction is to drill for more oil. They want more leases for offshore drilling yet they already have what about 6000 leases that are environmentally safe but they won't drill there. What a political play if I ever seen one. Pretending to give a solution. Even if you drill the oil first won't come in about 10yrs and second it will run out quickly so you are back to square one. And finally the oil found in America does not belong to Americans it belongs to the oil company that drill it since oil is not nationalize. Meaning that they can choose to export that oil to China or India which will most likely happen.

I told everybody before: The Republicans eat their own.

They pretend to care about life of the unborn, and then sends them to get killed on lies for oil. Truth is they are just using to pro-life
(duh, everyone is pro-life except murderers} to garner votes.

When will people see that the Repugs are destroying our great nation!

Hey Matt, come out of your own personal political fog. This Congress is riding on the coat-tails of the [R]-owned and run Congress of the previous 6 years. People expected too much, too quick, from a [D] majority that was too thin -- that is why the poll numbers are low. I have one quote for you from one of your heroes that says it all:

"The strategy of being obstructionist can work or fail....and so far it's working for us. Democrats are the ones taking the blame for not getting anything done." - Trent Lott

Let's see what the polls look like after we vote out more of the neo-trash this Nov. And as far as poll numbers go, let's not forget how well the country was doing in the 1990's because of a successful [D] president, and despite that success there was a hard core of [R] imbeciles that complained and complained ---- these are the same imbeciles that today give Bush a 29% approval rating. Sorry bud, but I think you are one of them!

This is hillarious to me!

If you are a Republican candidate and it would be disadvantagous to attend your own party's convention this summer because your own President is so unpopular, it begs the quesion on whether your politics are in step with the country and why you are still in the GOP.

No more of the same!. McCain is only going to continue the same Bush policies. Who in their right mind would vote Republican? All you have to do is look at the state of the economy. We can last another 100 yrs in Iraq. We don't have any money to keep funding a war that was waged on a big fat lie! People are trying to say McCain is different from Bush. No, he is not!. This man is has old school ideas and wants to continue the policies to continue dooming this country

People are losing their jobs each day. McCain is wearing $500.00 shoes while people can't afford gas to go to work or pay their utilitiy bills. McCain is part of the old system. NO TO THE REPUBLICANS! I am sick of them and all of the crooks in the Bush administration!

So stop hating on Obama because he is a smart, intelligent ,black man that has confidence in himself. You can look in McCains face and see he has ZERO CONFIDENCE!

Say whatever you need to do to get re-elected. Do whatever is necessary. We will understand. Wow...here is a novel idea. How about if you did your job well you might have a chance of being re-elected. If you failed miserably...why should you be given another chance. Why people can't look at how they are doing and ask themselves, "Am I better off today than last yr? Than 3 yrs ago? Than 8?" If your answer is no, why would you continue to support those that helped solidify what is happeneing with our nation today. Politicians on both sides are failing miserably. You have control. Do you want it to continue to fail?

Why the hell does everyone think the Republicans are pushing hard for offshore drilling all of a sudden? Because the Bush term is almost over! They are getting desperate. Don't fall for their scams.

I watched the Senate debate on oil yesterday and the Democrats introduced at least 3 bills to try to help lower gas prices and the Republicans said no each time because their bill did not include offshore drilling.

So this is it. If the Republicans cannot have offshore drilling they will block each and every energy bill that will help bring down gas prices or help to create alternative energy sources. This is there strategy.

Don't fall for it. They are scam artists. How many times to they have to prove before people quit falling for these Rebublican lies. All they really care about is Big Oil and Big Corporations.

Isn't it funny that John McCain received $1 million dollars from Texas oilmen right after he changed his position on offshore drilling. Hmmmm. If that's not obvious I don't know what is.

Turn out the lights; the party's over. To the GOP, save your money for four years from now and hope Obama will fall on his face. Which he won't so you better put your money in a 10 year IRA.

It's almost like unless the congress and senate and the president are all the same party nothing gets done. And if they are there is no real oversight.

This congress does not have the 60 votes needed in the senate to overcome a Bush veto . That is in large part why nothing gets done .

I agree with Christopher, Madison, WI, the Republicans have blocked and filibustered almost everything in the past two years. The problem is that most americans don't understand that. When the Dems tried to block right-wing judges from being posted on the Supreme Court, all we heard on the evening news was that the Dems were obstructionists and that the Republicans were going to force votes by using the nuclear option. Now that the Republicans are blocking votes left and right, we don't hear anything about it. I partially blame the media for not covering this as a story, I also partially blame the Dems for not reminding the people that they're not threatening to take away the Republican's filibuster rights, but then again, I also blame the American people for not giving the Dems the majorities they needed in the first place to fix this country.

WE need state's rights now more than ever. Than we can at least limit the creep of socialism and political correctness at the state border.

Yesterday, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that religious jokes were a form of discrimination. I am not kidding, look it up.

Closer and closer to Thoughtcrimes, courtesy of the marxist-leninist thinking on the left. Take back America? Indeed, take it and turn it into the socialist utopia. Don't let Eastern Europe's, Russia's, or Asia's history be a deterrent.

This attorney is buying land in a solidly red state and stockpiling ammo while it is still legal.

Sounds like they want them to act like Ron Paul. Since he was the only candidate who actually had any real support and fund raising success.

If the GOP had any sense about them and actually cared about winning they would have McCain drop out for medical reasons and nominate Ron Paul.

Typical, when it is their individual interests on the line they are willing to buck their party. Had they been willing to do that for the peoples interests and not solidly back Bush-Cheney all along, we wouldn't have the mess we have now. Their actions now indicate they admit that fault and they should just come out and say it so people can believe where they now stand.

Crush Rush...you may be slightly misinformed

It does take 60 votes in the Senate and no Vetos in Congress.

However Matt may NOT know this because he is a moron.

I can't post anywhere in any article about Obama or Hillary. And perhaps, it's a blessing in disguise: I don't like Obama. Period. And I can't even mention it in any conversation anywhere because I get frowned upon. Like they don't know if I am crazy, stupid, a racist or what. Obama's supporters almost view him as Messiah-like. Did anybody ever think he could be Antichrist-like. Note: I am not saying he is either a Messiah or an Antichrist. I said LIKE (metaphor, not simile.) Obama supporters will stomp on ANYBODY who has a DIFFERENT opinion.

For once, I agree with a [R]: the RNC will indeed be a "waste of time"! Furthermore, people who continue to support the current [R] debacle are a waste of space.

Thus, what you will have at the RNC will be a celebration of the new kind of physics that has been inflicted on this country for the past 7 years: wasted space-time. I believe Einstein saw this possibility in his equations, but chose to reject it as being too bizarre. It is indeed ironic that such a new solution to Einstein's equations was not found by the highly trained and intelligent among us, but instead was brought about the imbeciles that populate this country.

But let's face it, using imagery from Einstein's famous thought experiments, only an imbecile could have watched the train head off in the wrong direction the last 7 years ending up off the track and yet then come up with some sort of "wasted" space-time solution which tells them that not only did the train NOT go off the track, but it was never heading in the wrong direction in the first place!

The RNC will be the biggest collection of idiots in one place ever. What the article is telling us is that even some [R]s know this, and they are trying to warn away some of their friends to not be part of the "wasted" spectacle. That there is hope for some [R]s is only vaguely comforting.

Almost sounds like they know that to be involved with McCain is to aquiesce to the current administration as his policies are so much in line with Bush. Not a good thing for someone running now, but it is very telling.

For two years the Congress was republican, we had a republican President, and a conservative Supreme Court. Even with a majority we see what they did. Now there are more Democrats, but they have had to buck Bush's veto and do not have enough seats to overcome a filibuster. They have lacked guts in my opinion, but the more the seats go democratic along with a democratic president, we have the best scenario to finally get things done. FOR THE PEOPLE!

Hey Matt, it took the Republicans 12+ years to screw this country up before the Democrates took over. Now they have a majority that is easily pushed a side in any vote. I am not very happy with my party right now. However, I know they have put some bills out there to help the average person that were shut down by the republican vote. That low rating includes the Republicans too.

This is just peachy for McCain, pushing the Republican agenda prompted by big oil and the Bush tax cuts. Odd man out again. Obama will fill a stadium, and according to this, practically no one will show up for McCain's annointment. Maybe they'll all be down at Ron Paul's gig.
