McCain ad on Obama: 'They will call him The One'

A new McCain Web ad pegs Obama as ‘The One.’

(CNN) – After a week of bare-knuckle political brawling on the trail, it seemed Friday John McCain’s campaign had found religion.

In a Web ad e-mailed to supporters, the McCain team painted Barack Obama as a recipient of near-messianic hype – and a candidate all-too-willing to believe it.

“It shall be known that in 2008 the world will be blessed. They will call him ‘The One,’” says the announcer in the minute-long video, over images of light shining from the heavens and a gospel music-like soundtrack, interspersed with clips drawn from Obama speeches.

“And he has anointed himself. Ready to carry the burden of The One,” continues the announcer. “He can do no wrong. Can you see the light?”

By the end of the ad, Obama seems to have received a promotion from mere Messiah to possible divinity: Charlton Heston’s Moses is shown parting the Red Sea, proclaiming “Behold His mighty hand!” as Obama’s presidential seal rises from the waters.

“Barack Obama may be the one. But is he ready to lead?” concludes the announcer.

On a flight to Panama City Florida, McCain senior adviser Nicolle Wallace told reporters that the video had been designed as a bookend to what the campaign believed had been a very successful week.

In a CNN poll of polls Friday, the Arizona senator cut Obama’s Monday lead by half, to three points.

Wallace added that the ad – which she described as respectful of all faiths - was intended to rally the presumptive Republican nominee’s supporters, and that there was an "important role for humor in all campaigns. I think all of us would slit our wrists if it wasn't for that."

Sen. Obama, don't even acknowledge that crap with an answer continue to stay on the issue while Sen McSane continues to go back into his childhood, because something is really wrong with him and him staff. Even the republicans are going to wonder why is he not talking about what he can do to make this country better instead of STALKING Sen Obama. You must be a HUGH threat to them.

This is shameful this add is more about the voting public. Does John McCain thank we are senseless followers or what? For me, I like Obama for his plans, health care, jobs, new energy, and a lawful government among many other things.

Yes... like Obama bragged... he will get the lion to lay down with the sheep.

The man is a fool- ONLY God can do that.

All Obama achieved is inflaming racial tensions and dividing a once united party and he may well lose the election for us democrats.

The GOP was taught how to run against Barack by Hillary Rodham Clinton, the most selfish, self-centered woman on the planet. Well, just as she is sitting on the sidelines, McCain will be very soon.

When are the McCain folks going to tell us something about McCain – instead of Obama? It's pretty sad if they can only emphasize reasons not to vote for Obama and can't come up with reasons to vote for McCain.

How much lower can the McCain Campaign go? He's just a dirty old rotten angry man who has no clue what he is doing. He's already fallen off his rocker and have u seen the guy try to move at the podium, he's stiff as a board. Poor old guy will fall over sooner or later. Can't wait till all of this backfires in his face.

I love it!. Is the Obama Campaign paying McCain to put this stuff out. It is actually quite flattering for an attack ad.

I'm not sure McCain should be the one doing it but someone really does need to address Obama's messiah thing. Some of his supporters are going overboard when praising him and it's starting to get downright scary. When it comes down to it, he's just a politician and not a savior.

Wow now that is funny! You got to be kidding me? Great, just when I thought the McCain Camp could not out do thier stupidity, the one up me again. Are they implying that Obama is calling himself, the second coming of Christ? Wow. Well, I thought the McCain camp thinks he is a Muslim....there is some flip flopping again (laugh). Okay so the he is a Muslim didn't work, nor did he has no experience. so I imagine someone was sitting around in the McCain Campaign headquarters thinking "we must do something to reverse this slaughter. Oh I got it! Let's use something that will scare the crap out of all of the bible fanatics! let's say Obama tthinks he is the second coming of Christ. And since we know Jesus is white (that's hwhat they think) it will get everyone out to stop the evil black man"! Unfreakingbelievable McNutts!

As a born-again Christian if I were McCain and the GOP, I'd tread carefully here......Whether you believe it or not, you are committing blasphemy, by ridiculing Obama at the price of God or are you trying to appeal to the religious right by implying something else....Under any circumstance I hope you reap what you sow. If God has set Obama up as the next president, you just might find yourself fighting more against God than Obama.

Once Senator McCain displays images of Osama bin Laden in his commercials, he will have finally sunk to Hillary's level.

But I doubt that even John McCain wants to be best remembered for appealing to the lowest denominator as Hillary did when she dove into the sewer.

This ad is likely intended to exploit the ignorance of those who still believe Obama is Muslim, among other things. The 'Messiah' meme has been playing on the right-wing blogosphere for a while now.

After the previous ads this week, I supposed I shouldn't be shocked that McCain would stoop this low. Still, I find this ad offensive not just to Obama (and what he has clearly stated he is NOT), but to those of us who support him, as well. John McCain does not know my motivations for supporting Senator Obama, nor does he know the reasons others support him. For him to imply that we've all been duped by some sort of political televangelist selling snake oil is insulting, disrepectful, and downright despicable.

I hope Obama hits back hard on this one.

Can McCain get any more pathetic? I knew there was a race card, but McCain has now come up with the "Messiah Card". I used to respect McCain as a solid guy. I haven't always agreed with him, but as an independent voter, I could usually see his way of thinking. These days? Not so much. One thing I am absolutely sure of is that McCain is NOT "The One". Lately he's a lot more like "Number Two".

Now McShame is getting into the religious garbage. McShane is by religious faith an Episcopalian. He is a disasterious one such as disasterious in everything he does and says. He needs to go back into a closet with Bush. What a disgrace Jim.
