Is McCain's 'Celeb' ad accurate?

CNN

Watch more on McCain’s claim that Obama would raise your electric bill.

(CNN) - John McCain's campaign got a lot of attention last week for its ad that likens Barack Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

The ad calls Obama "the biggest celebrity in the world," but asks, "Is he ready to lead."

In addition to the flashy imagery, the ad also claims that Obama would raise taxes on electricity. But is that claim true? CNN's Josh Levs reports.

    this is so sad McCain would not be crying about this subject if he could draw a crowd of any size. he also went a broad and spoke to worls leaders right after he recieved the nomination of hie party but could not draw the attention that senator Obama drew... I dont understand why it is not a good think to be liked abroad... Why do we have to be hated by everyone it does not make us stronger

    Further proof McCain is a continuation of the Bush administration. McCain is making false accusations and lying just like Karl Rove and George Bush did in the last two elections. They fooled enough naive people to vote for them then so the real question is are people still dumb enough to fall for the same tricks and lies.

    Well of course it is a lie. That is what the GOP does best. Liars and traitors. I say lets win and then deport the whole bunch of them to Iraq.
    Bring our troops home.

    It's accurate that McCain is willing to do anything to win this election. And yet he still will lose!

    Who cares? This is funny when you think that McCain has been a clebrity since he was shot down. Even more funny is the fact that he enjoyed that status during the 2000 election. We have had three Presidents that were celebrities that were great presidents (Regan, JFK, Clinton). Who doesn't want a president that is liked??? This is a childish add whose only purpose is to attempt to shore up McCains fleeting Republican base. Nothing more.

    No the ad is terribly misleading and is ALL SPIN. This is typical of the GOP and McSame has clearly adopted this approach as his own. In the absence of solutions and a new direction McSame will offer us the same as Bush has for the past eight terrible years. Obama is the commonsense candidate and will be a leader not just for a new better America but for freedom and progress everywhere.

    Of course it's not true. Just go read about what a lie it is on the non-partisan site "www.factcheck.org", along with the huge number of other lies McCain has told about Obama.

    No. Just another one of the mounting lies from McCain and his supporters.

    Until people stop listening to the BS propaganda that they continue to spew, they won't quit. Change the channel and stop voting for them.

    a lot of attention by whom? it's a stupid NO CONTENT ad, typical of the GOP to run NO CONTENT campaign ads since they have no real platform or plans for undoing the rotten 8 years of Bush.

    Senator Obama has only celebrity to offer America. What has he done? What are his accomplishments? Americans will not be fooled by an adoring press. We will not support someone with so little experience. The press can keep pushing Senator Obama on us but the voters will not elect him. We are not electing an American Idol. We are electing a president, which is more than a popularity contest.

    We will choose experience, judgment, and a genuine war hero over a zero every time!

    Democrats for McCain!

    Have we not had 'ENOUGH DESTRUCTION' in America?

    Just what will it take for The Republican Party to stop the non-sense.

    America needs a 'POSITIVE DIRECTION'

    * Jobs gone
    * Environment destroyed
    * Cost of Living has increased
    * Etc.

    CAN WE CHANGE OUR WAY OF THINKING...WE NEED SOLUTIONS, NOT MORE PROBLEMS!

    McCain's ad was indeed racist and down right low down. There is something cynical about it as well. It appeared to say that even though he is considered a celebrity, he is no Spears or Hilton. He is still BLACK. In addition, using two blonde, blue eyed white girs with a BLACK man just does not sit well with white america who still frown on interracial couples. Obama is the product of an interracial couple.

  25. Obama For President

    The ad is accurate in that it is demonizing a man who has accomplished many good things in his life by comparing him to 2 women in Hollywood who are known for their sexual exploits, poor judgments, and their drug use. McCain call this having "fun" but I wonder if he would be laughing if Obama did an ad depicting him as a drunk, chasing women with loose morals, adulterer and commiting treason against his country as a POW. NOT so funny I bet.
