Is McCain's 'Celeb' ad accurate?

CNN

Watch more on McCain’s claim that Obama would raise your electric bill.

(CNN) - John McCain's campaign got a lot of attention last week for its ad that likens Barack Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

The ad calls Obama "the biggest celebrity in the world," but asks, "Is he ready to lead."

In addition to the flashy imagery, the ad also claims that Obama would raise taxes on electricity. But is that claim true? CNN's Josh Levs reports.

McCain is a liar, if there is one thing I value in a candidate, it is honesty. I could not vote for a candidate who has lied countless times.

I truly think that Mrs. Hilton, was correct. It does not make sense for any campaign to have the kind of ad that Senator McCain, did this week. What does two wealthy young ladies have to do with the problems facing the average American. It was not meant for a joke, it was to do what the Republicans have done before. Scare the American public to vote their way. It will not work this time. You have fooled the public twice and this time we will not be fooled.

The question, "Is he ready to lead?" is legitimate, but it's deceitful to try to trivialize Obama by implying he has no more substance than Paris Hilton. Obama has put forward as many policy proposals as McCain has. Whether or not you agree with his policy prescriptions, it's just plain wrong to dismiss Obama as lacking substance.

McCain is making a habit of taking this campaign down the lowest road. He says he's willing to lose a campaign if it means winning a war. I wonder if he's willing to win a campaign if it means losing the respect of the people he hopes to lead.

McCain doesn't scare me in reference to Obama
I will be scared if McCain gets into the WH
I will be scared for my Sons
I will be scared for my Grandkids
I will be scared for my retirement fund
I will be scared for my finances

Because McCain offers the same politics and Bush, thats why I call him McBush!
That name scares the Heck out of me! Say it McBush! Wow

John McCain is the real joke. He has been following all of the failed policies of G. W. Bush like some kind of lap dog. Not only is he a flip flopper but its now apparent that he is no gentlemen. Then again Republicans have never stood for integrity.

    Is McCain's 'Celeb' ad accurate?

Come on CNN, you're the journos

This just in from Paris Hilton's Mum
"It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States."

This is the real John McCain.
"Of course the U.S. government should pay compensation. It's the U.S. military's fault," said survivor Cho Kook-won, 78, who says he lost four family members among hundreds of refugees suffocated, burned and shot to death in a U.S. Air Force napalm attack on their cave shelter south of Seoul in 1951."

Do we want someone who would drop "NAPALM ON WOMEN AND CHILDREN"!

McCains ad was right on the money.

Mr Obama is what money and a marketing and PR team has made.

He came from no where, with nothing, he knows nothing but his script verse which he is constantly repeating.

He stands for nothing, since he is always changing his position on things some times daily.

He has nothing he believes in, so how can anyone believe in him.

He is Mr Hollywood with a speech.

No one but the Cult folowers for Obama can deny its truth.

Senator McCain can call him whatever he wants to and he is definitely ready. This same ad may very well backfire on Senator McCain because I heard that during the week that the commerical was ran that Senator Obama got in more donations that week than normal and a lot of McCain's Republicans disapproved of the ads that he put out.

no stupid stupid stupid to compare a political figure to two pop culture celeberties. Naturally political candidates have star power when they run for an office esp the office of the POTUS. McCain is just jealous his base is not excited about him this way

how does this help the national dialouge about the poor state of our country and economy. i used to really respect McCain when he show an independent streak and bucked the GOP, he looked like a man of ideas and character but this is the last straw for me, there is no way I can vote for him after watching his increasingly negetive adds about Obama's youth and exeperience have totallyy tunred me off, there is no way i could vote for him,....4 MORE YEARS OF BUSH STYLE POLITICS WILL RUIN THIS COUNTRY......INDEPENDENT FOR BARACK

it IS true. this guy has such a thin resume that no one should elect him as dogcatcher much less the U>S. he has shown poor judgement by attending a radical church and subjecting his young children to hate filled so called sermons. he has some seriously questionable friends, calls his own grandmother a typical white woman, and in his book waxes poetic about his drug use. but somehow this person is being promoted as a serious contender for the job known as Leader of the Free World. the DNC has shamelessly pushed him, the media has shamelessly promoted him and WHY? because he gives a good speech? he is comepletely UN-qualified for the job they are trying to give him and the american people would be the ones to suffer should they succeed.

No, that is why they have politicians and celebrities. They serve this country for totaly different reasons. I am sure if voters were flocking in numbers to see he him this would not even be a conversation.

  24. Point of view

Yes Obama is large and has been able to run a positive campaign.
Sometimes you have to defend yourself and call it as you see it!

The only difference is Obama will be one of few Presidential figures with the intelligence and ability to complete a sentence. He is way smarter than you give him credit. I put my money on him to get us back on track. Economy is hurting and he offers more of Clintons approach and we all know the 90's were good for all.

More of the same will only deepen our troubles! It doesn't take a rocket science to figure that out. The rich will get richer that's his oil buddies and of course his lovely wife Cindy.
