Nancy Pelosi had lots of praise for Rep. Chet Edwards of Texas.
Nancy Pelosi had lots of praise for Rep. Chet Edwards of Texas.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Plenty of high profile names are getting bounced around as Barack Obama’s potential running mate. But Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi may have a lesser-known candidate in mind.

Newsweek and other publications say Pelosi has been lobbying for Rep. Chet Edwards (D – Texas). The 56-year-old Edwards is a 9-term congressman representing a district in central Texas that includes President Bush’s ranch in Crawford.

In an interview Sunday, Pelosi said, “I didn't want to see a discussion of candidates for vice president without showing the House of Representatives… I just wanted people to be aware of the extraordinary credentials of Chet Edwards. And I hope he will be the nominee.”

Pelosi told ABC’s "This Week" that “for years, our colleagues have said to him, why don't you run for president? He is an extraordinarily talented person. He is a champion for veterans in the Congress. Under his leadership, we have passed, including just on Friday, the biggest increase in funding for veterans' health benefits and other benefits in the history of our country. “

Pelosi called him “talented:” and “principled.” Asked if she believed Edwards, not a household name around the country, had a chance to be picked, she said, “Well, I would certainly hope so. But, you know what? Senator Dodd, Senator Biden, Senator Hillary Clinton — there's such a great array of people from whom Senator Obama can choose. So, anyone of them, I'm fine with."

A Democrat 18 years in Congress in the heart of Dub-Republicans.

Central Texas cannot afford to lose Chet. Even local veterans voted for him (vets for chet) as he fought strongly for the Waco VA hospital.

Chet's seat would easily fall to a Republican. District 17 was one of the main reasons Tom Delay and his cronies restructured the Texas districts a few years back and the only reason why it's stayed Democrat is Chet.

This is the same reason why, sadly, Jim Webb cannot be the VP choice. It would be another lost seat.

ComeOn   August 3rd, 2008 10:17 pm ET

This is the worst congress in the history of this country. Thanks Nancy.

Charles W. Skinner   August 3rd, 2008 10:13 pm ET

I'm surprised that Speaker Pelosi is even willing to show her face in public after telling the American people that they don't need domestic oil production (by adjourning the House of Representatives without holding a vote on off-shore drilling).

Let's see what we have from the Democrat controlled Congress:

No end to funding what she and her cohorts call the "unjust war," no accountability for those Representatives in her party who are under investigation for corruption (Rep. William Jefferson), no lower gas prices…. Is there anything that the Democratic Congress delivered on that they promised from the 2006 elections?

She needs to go. Hopefully the voting public in her district will be smart enough to see it, or the next Congress will be smart enough not to reelect her as the Speaker of the House.

James - Indiana   August 3rd, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Pelosi has had all kinds of opportunities to bring about change and make a real difference. She has failed, and she has lost all credibility. She is the worst liability the Democratic party has now.

David Short   August 3rd, 2008 10:12 pm ET

Having known Chet Edwards during his tenure as an aide to Congressman Tiger Teague, then as a State Senator, and finally as a member of Congress,….I can say without question that Chet would make a great VP! He cares about the people in his district, and is not afraid to buck the party line when necessary.

bob in LA   August 3rd, 2008 10:11 pm ET

Pelosi Should start doing her job and a congress woman for California and stop injuecting her perosnla opinions in the presidential race.
wher eis her outrage that anyone wants to drill of the coast of California? Where is her leadership to see that we agressively seek alternative energy source to relieve our dependence on oil?
Open that mouth of your sNancy and do some good for us Californians!

Dave   August 3rd, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Perhaps Pelosi should run for president in 2012. That way the republicans can expose what a true fraud she is and maybe then, Americans will open their eyes to reality.

I am a proud democrat but she has NO idea how to represent the will of moral citizens. That of course, makes her a great candidate for a mayorial position in San Francisco.

Joe from ATL.   August 3rd, 2008 10:07 pm ET

Why are the candidates not talking about how they intend stop the influence of lobbiest in washington? Seems to me that no matter who wins this election washington is going to be the same old dirty place where well intended politians go to bed with imoral lobbiest. My question to the candidates is…..will outlaw lobbiest in washington?
You need only give a yes or no answer?

Roy P   August 3rd, 2008 10:06 pm ET

This is what happens when you have an American Idol candidate. When someone makes a common sense suggestion, they are degraded for not following an Ipod gameboy mentality. We need a VP with some experience then we will have at least one member of the team with some idea of what is going on.

"Sending billions of tax dollars each year directly to churches is unconstitutional under the First Amendment. It will lead to government regulation of our churches, which is exactly why our Founding Fathers rejected the idea of using tax dollars to fund our churches when they wrote the Bill of Rights."

This is a positive statement from a Texan no less.

Eight stories out of 12 here deal with Obama. Pretty nice coverage for a guy who doesn't (and hasn't for a long time) do his job back here in Illinois. I'm referring to his voting record as an ILLINOIS SENATOR. Check the record.

After throwing Hillary under the bus, she needs to just shut up. There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women

Sue   August 3rd, 2008 9:51 pm ET

As an educated female, Clinton was never my choice. Any other female would have been better then her. Pelosi is just crazy!

Barack will do just fine on his own picking out his running mate.

Peter   August 3rd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

To all the PUMA people out there. SHUT UP! If your willing to go through 4 more years of Bush JUST so Hillary MIGHT run in 2012 means you are the lowest form of life EVER! I can place money on it that most of you are bluffing but for those of you which arent i hate you deeply

Frank, San Diego   August 3rd, 2008 9:41 pm ET

Much as I admire Madame Speaker, I think she is speaking out of turn.

Obama should choose the running-mate most likely to ensure victory over McCain. The vice-presidency is not an award for prior good works.

By this standard, I believe that Obama should re-examine Senator Clinton. I was originally an Edwards supporter. But all Democrats now have to focus on the only question that matters.

How do we redeem America's honor? It is certainly not by allowing a hate-mongering smear artist like John McCain to win the presidency.

California Voter   August 3rd, 2008 9:37 pm ET

And so whoever he is, will help Obama win? Isn't Hillary the one that pulled in about 18 million votes? What is Pelosi thinking?

obama 2008   August 3rd, 2008 9:37 pm ET

"brad"
looks like you have a lot of things to say about the democratic congress that has only had the majority for the last "TWO" years. what you failed to mention is that almost all of the problems we are facing is because republicans have had the majority for the last "12″ years, and the white house for the last eight. doesn't shock me at all that you idiots would try to blame dems for it, you guys were dumb enough to vote for bush twice. also, to all you dodos who say you are democrats and won't support obama, suck it up, we will when with or without your help. "JUSTSAYNODEAL.COM" vote for McSame, he won't win, and you will not get the chance to vote for clinton in 2012 because Obama will be running for re-election you bitter fool.

If the papers, tv and internet would quit giving her an outlet to talk we wouldn't have to hear her opinions. I wish she would just shut up. She thinks she runs everything, knows everything and yet gets nothing accomplished. I agree…. who is he and why doesn't Obama just do the right thing and put Hillary on the ticket. If he doesn't he will not win….. but then again do we really want him to?

Bob Stephens   August 3rd, 2008 9:24 pm ET

Nancy, why don't you just focus on trying to do your own job….

Raymond Duke   August 3rd, 2008 9:24 pm ET

You had already closed the article with just a few comments on Obama now wants to seat Florida and Michigans delegates fully. This man is a joke. He blocked the revotes of Michigan and florida and had the blacks in michigan on their state senate to vote against the revote. After all the statements racially and sexual statements he made about Hillary Clinton now he wants to give the full seating at the convention. He and Wexler in florida"WEXLER DOES NOT EVEN LIVE THERE AND REPRESENTS FLORIDA' blocked the citizens of florida . Conyers the black guy in Michigan led the charge to not let michigan vote. This was all done thru Obama and , Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosio and Harry Reid. I hope the people of these two states have the guts to vote against this self serving @@@HOLE.

rexx   August 3rd, 2008 9:24 pm ET

Maybe he will put her on the ticket lol. Sounds like the Dems are getting uneasy already. The polls are all moving toward McCain and the "Chosen one" has NO experience. So now if you losers on the far Left lose this year how will you EVER win back the whitehouse? lol

red33,cedar rapids, ia   August 3rd, 2008 9:22 pm ET

How about getting something good done for our country for a change, instead of 'stonewalling'; Pelosi has enough to do without sticking her nose in this VP situation. Anyone she would pick, Obama had better veto.

Greggy V   August 3rd, 2008 9:15 pm ET

Nancy's judge of candidates leaves a lot to be desired. She wanted Obama, go figure! McCain will win in 08 and then we will finally get a viable, intelligent, honest and straightforward candidate with Hillary in 2012.

cecil   August 3rd, 2008 9:11 pm ET

On Beliefnet.com, Mara Vanderslice, founder and director of the pro-Obama religious group Matthew 25 Network, writes:

I found this McCain campaign ad "The One" to be one of the most offensive ads we have seen in American politics to date.

At best, this ad implies that those who plan to support Senator Obama are looking for a new savior or a replacement Messiah. But many are reading it even more darkly as an attempt to portray Obama as an anti-Christ figure.

A vote for Senator Obama is a vote for the man we think will make the best President, not for a new Messiah. As Christians, we have one Lord And Savior. Jesus Christ. It is blasphemous to suggest otherwise.

And it is beyond offensive to suggest that Senator Obama is a false Messiah or the anti-Christ himself. How low can we go? It shows the McCain campaign is willing to make a mockery of our faith to feed people's fears. Christians need to reject this out of hand.

barb   August 3rd, 2008 9:08 pm ET

Howard and you need to resign from party leadership, not speak up on issues of a national ticket. I may vote for Obama bit no democrat will get any more of my money as long as Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean are running the party.

Vinny Fairfield, Ct   August 3rd, 2008 9:03 pm ET

Pelosi has absolutely no credibility. This Democrat led Congress has done nothing; that's why they have a less than 10% approval rating in a most recent poll! Oh, she did shut off the lights and mics on C-Span on Friday so they couldn't talk about lifting the ban on off shore drilling! She is a JOKE!!!!! P.S. Obama now says he may favor off shore drilling; flip flop, anyone?!

I just watched Nancy Pelosi on C-Span. OMG what a stupe. Congress has a 9% approval rating. An approval rating below Bush's. She just brushed on Brian's question and said the Democratic approval rating was at its all time high. OMG this woman is so elitist and out of touch. But then again look who elects her.

rizopause   August 3rd, 2008 8:54 pm ET

If yiou guys understands the government system and the way it works you will not be barking like a dog. Everything needed to be voted on. You got stupid republicans in the senate wanting everything democratic to fail, for their own benefits. Unless we as Americans are stupid enough to see the light then go get yourself a blanket, get as a bed and go to sleep because you are ignorant and lost. you can't take an inteligent minority man? missing the common principles of american life.

Suzanne   August 3rd, 2008 8:53 pm ET

Obama cannot win without Clinton who happens to represent half of the Democratic party, won eighteen million votes, carries all the groups he does not and is one helluva campaigner! I am one of the eighteen million and we are all sitting on our hands and our pocketbooks just waiting to LEAP to support the dream ticket! And please don't refer to "problems with Bill" …! If Barack is planning to be the leader of the free world, he can certainly handle a successful , former Democratic president who agrees with him on all the issues and will campaign like heck for him anywhere he needs him! And "Change"? I think the first woman Vice President of the United States is a little bitty change don't you ? To say nothing of the fact that she has brought about hundreds of changes, changes for the better in healthcare ,education, veteran benefits, the environment, you name it. Her middle name is change. Now, let's put two armies together and take over the White House!

Richardson for V.P   August 3rd, 2008 8:52 pm ET

i don't blame pelosi or the dems at all for their inability to get things done because if you republican waco's remembered who the president was, and how powerful his veto pen was, then you'd understand their delima. It's always comical to hear a neo-con try to place the blame on others for their own failures, but guess what? In this election it won't work, so get ready for a bloody nov 4th, and possibly the end of your party…

Chuck   August 3rd, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Pelosi is a very strange and secretly controlling woman. Now that Obama wants "full" seating of Florid and Michigan, if you keep the Edwards delegates neutral, suddenly Hillary Clinton got the most pledged delegates. Will Pelosi then reiterate her stance that superdelegates shouldn't override the pledged delegates' decision? Will she go against the popular vote? How much of a hypocrite is Pelosi?

offwallst   August 3rd, 2008 8:49 pm ET

what a moron!!!!!!

she wants to use the strategic oil reserve instead of drilling….the reserve is used only for wartime emergencies!!!!.. she will be one of the reasons why obama will lose….the american population is 60% and growing in favor of drilling……the dems will have a backlash in nov.

David from California   August 3rd, 2008 8:45 pm ET

Pelosi Puh-lease   August 3rd, 2008 8:45 pm ET

Yes…Please follow Pelosi's advice. With her excellent leadership, the Dems have accomplished major objectives. No wait, what have they actually done? Nothing. She proves everyday why America should not vote Democrat. It's all empty promises.

Ted   August 3rd, 2008 8:42 pm ET

What Speaker Pelosi should offer is her disgraceful resignation. The stunt that was pulled last week only solidifies why many Americans (who support both parties) have little interest in the politics in this country. Democrats don't get it… Republicans don't get it… we hard-working Americans DO get it…. and we who know how to balance a checkbook are completely aware of the problems this Congress AND White House have pushed onto us. It's really sad… I thought this was the United States of America.

I hope the Congressional members enjoy their paid vacation (at yet our expense)… They have certainly earned it haven't they??

Given the state of the union, the democratic nominee should be leading by 15+ points but Mr. Obama has failed to capture the support of the democratic base and, despite his popular media coverage, is NOT a shoe-in for the presidency. I do not think he can win without adding Mrs. Clinton and her 18 million democratic base supporters to the ticket. America needs the dream ticket - with it we could have 24 years (2 terms each), of democratic presidents - and we will need every minute of that to turn this country around.

I simply cannot think of anyone less relevant and capable than Nancy "Her Excellency" Pelosi in our government. It is astounding that such a (once) great country cannot seem to find any better leaders than her.

It is a very sad downhill slide for America that we are all now watching, and even sadder that we contribute by our actions — and inactions — which allows dangerous nobodies like this slip into positions of power.

Rambo   August 3rd, 2008 8:21 pm ET

Pelosi is a joke

Ivan, Chicago, Illinois   August 3rd, 2008 8:18 pm ET

At first I was pround that Pelosi was the Speaker of The House, now after seeing her in action I not so sure she is the right person for the job. Where is that grit when it cames to dealing with the President and his Republicans in Congress? That same grit Pelosi had to have had to have risen to the position of Speaker. A pushover Pelosi and her fellow Democrats have been since taking control. Just the threat of a veto has sent the Democrats scurring for cover.
I will not vote for Obama, I can't vote for McCain, I will write in Hillary for President.
The "Left Wing" of the Democratic Party will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. And if by some miracle Obama wins, then the diversity of the Democratic Party will work against them as it did during President Clinton first term. It wasn't untill the Democrats were a minority in Congress that they worked with President Clinton. The difference between Obama and President Clinton is that Clinton was at that time and still is a strong and tested leadrer, whereas Obama is not and will be found wanting.
I am willing to suffer a McCain win, if it will finally lead to a reshaping of the Democratic party, where the "Left" does not hold sway.

Warren in Austin, Texas   August 3rd, 2008 8:15 pm ET

Anyone who has been in the military should know a lot about Congressman Edwards. Like the article says he has worked very hard for Veterans in this Country. If you don't know who he is then visit his website and get to know him. He has been a very strong leader in the Congress since 1990. He is a great American.

ellie   August 3rd, 2008 8:14 pm ET

Pelosi should mind her own business. She can't even handel the Senate , let alone pick the V.P. I was a democrate most of my life then went to independent. Becouse of people like Pelosi and Obama with thier lies. I would like to know why she won't bring up the bill on drilling for our own oil and why she calls recess before its voted on. This is a time our country is in big trouble. There is ways we can drill withourt hurting our country. And it would help to put America on it on ecomonic growth again. As for Obama he wants to stop the drilling, Does Obama care more about getting elected and beibg the big hero solving problems then he does the welfare of this country and the working people. Why pick people no one has ever heard of. This is as bad as the McCain team vetting Erik Cantor, who no one has ever heard of. If they were smart, Obama would pick Edwards, and McCain would pick Huckabee. I would say that Obama should pick Hillary, but Bill Clinton would just interfere too much.

Brad You can thank Bush and Cheany for the mess this country is in. True Pelosi isn't the best, but she is twice as good as Bush and Cheany put together. I'm sure if we had 60 demorcates there would have been a lot more done.

Nancy Do-nothing is always to speak her mind. I'm not an Obama supporter but it seems to me that the choice of VP is his business, not Pelosi's. Doesn't she think he can pick his own running mate? And if she really had a hot tip wouldn't it be better to speak to Obama in private to make a recommendation - rather than taking it directly to the press?

With friends like her…

No Longer a Democrat   August 3rd, 2008 7:48 pm ET

Why would we trust Pelosi? She ran out on the country when the GOP wanted to vote on an energy package and pulled her disappearing stunt with the democrats last week. She basically abandoned working americans while she went on vacation — something I cannot afford.

She continually influenced the primaries and has publicly called Obama the "annointed one"….. She has used force in pressuring Democrats to vote for who she wants.

She and Dean have totally screwed up the Democratic Party.

She has led Congress to it's lowest approval rating in history.

She and the Democrats are busy working on an "apology for slavery and reparations" for African Americans.

We know where her priorities are………..

Let's get to reality and face the issues of today — the economy, energy, and war……..Something IMPORTANT and vital to ALL americans and for future survival.

My 32 year old (Republican) son has been saying for years that Pelosi is a nut ……

She has caused me to make history —- agreeing with my son.

I am now going Republican and want nothing to do with anyone who aligns with Pelosi.

Kenny, Niles Illinois   August 3rd, 2008 7:48 pm ET

It seems like it is getting harder for Obama to pick a VP when the head of his party starts mentioning names. Can't we stop that VP blah- blah and let Obama or his staff pick someone that can help him defeat McCain in November. The country cannot afford another Bush/McCain. Let's do everything that's in our power to bring change because the country is in bad shape ever since Bush took power.

Agnes   August 3rd, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Hope, I have hope just not the audacity to blindly hope. We need more than words; we need someone who knows how to do the work. What work has Sen. Obama done? Sen. Clinton has 30 plus years of real civil rights leadership, actual gains that has allowed the disadvantaged to have a voice and that has allowed for this very discussion of Sen. Obama’s candidacy. What has Sen. Obama done for America? Local community outreach and state senatorial voting record of present are not enough to say he is experienced. And as the chairman of the Subcommittee on European Affairs with jurisdiction over NATO’s operations, he didn’t call a meeting in two years, two years! Is this how we can expect him to execute his office? It is the Executive branch not the legislative branch I’m concerned with- as the President is the top executor of the country.

Change, what change and by whom? I want change, truly I do, but how will that change come and by which path? Since Sen. Obama was instilled as the DNC’s puppet over the people’s choice, can anyone tell me what the change will be? (Say what you must but Tammany Hall is live and well in Chicago and in the DNC; it’s been lurking, waiting to raise it’s ugly head since FDR.) Is this an example of the type of administration we could expect from Sen. Obama? Strong arm tactics. What a glorious way to capture the nomination. It's not about the journey but about the end results…. RIGHT? Will this be our legacy to the future?

How exactly will Sen. Obama approach the issues facing our great nation? Let’s face the fact that his experience - community outreach and a state senatorial voting record of "Present," does not qualify him for the office of the President of the United States of America – one in which the new President will face the effects of global warming, war, commodities shortages- everything from fresh water and oil to wheat, economic "downturn" and health issues ranging from rogue viruses to tainted food/products. Many of these issues span an international spectrum. Where exactly does Sen. Obama exhibit the experience to effectively deal with these issues? (Who do you want performing your open heart surgery, the professor or the surgeon?) It takes more than being able to talk about how something is supposed to act, (anyone who has just come out of college to start a new job can attest to that;) it takes the experience of actually doing the work. We need change and we need proven leadership - on day one. In my opinion the only person who has the qualifications to effectively handle all the issues facing our nation is Hillary Clinton. This is the reason so many of her campaign advisors are now working with Obama, because he knows Hillary was the true candidate of change. In my opinion the only person who has the qualifications to effectively handle all the issues facing our nation is Hillary Clinton. Barack as Chief Executive?… never. This 30 year democrat will write in Hillary for president and not Obama, no matter who his running mate. I found him lacking and still do.
Nobama!

Don R. Serina, Brentwood, Tennessee   August 3rd, 2008 7:43 pm ET

I am a republican. BUT, if I would have voted or supported any Democratic candidate it would have been Hillary. Did I like Bill, No. But was he president for 8 years? Was Hillary around? Is Hillary Dumb? NO. She's smart, she's energetic, she's commited. She has a platform and an opinion.

And if anybody can help Obama get to the White House it's Hillary.

Why isn't Hillary mentioned or even being considered. Without her Obama will lose. It will be a close race but a President cannot represent one segment or even just a few segments of America. The president and his ticket, in this ever expanding world, must be a president of ALL the people.

sue   August 3rd, 2008 7:40 pm ET

Great, so for the Democratic VP she's promoting a DINO who voted with the Repukes on many of the controversial bills recently (new FISA bill, etc. Well, so did Obama for that matter… ugh). What else would you expect from a Dem who can manage to hold on to his seat in a very conservative part of Texas, though? He's sure not going to be a progressive or liberal. Nope, he's definitely a DINO, which is not what I'm interested in voting for.

I didn't think it was possible for me to think any less of Pelosi than I already did, but after looking up Chet Edwards's voting record, I do. Get that idiotic woman out of a position of power already. I'd so love to see Cindy Sheehan take her seat. Go Cindy!!

the majority of voting americans cannot be as goofy as some of the comments, and professional commentary, that have followed barack obama throughout his campaign for president. america faces a simple choice: does it wish to stay rooted in the politics and ideologies of the past, or go forward successfully into the future? as in the time of abraham lincoln, americans may have to make a bold choice in spite of themselves in order to preserve unity going forward into the future.

Educate yourself first before spout off your. I am a Republican and this man is a great guy and a very conservative democrat. Rep. Chet Edwards endorsed Obama during the March 4 primary and has been mentioned as being on the on short list. He's a serious consideration. If McCain wins, we'll go with Obama in 2012. Then 2016, then 2020 until he is president. If Hillary couldn't defeat Obama in '08, she has no chance in 2012. The only criticism of Obama is that he hasn't become a Washington insider yet. He'll be one in a few more years.

Nick   August 3rd, 2008 6:33 pm ET

First of all, wondering why anyone thinks it's a good idea to pick a senator (or any legislator)? Both candidates are already senators; they need to pick someone with executive experience, either a governor, a business leader or a general. McCain would do best with the CEO of eBay or Pawlenty. Obama probably would do best with Bill Richardson, Wes Clark or Claire McCaskill. I know Nancy's trying to get the house some representation, I just don't think it's a good idea to have two legislators running the country.

Secondly, this would bring Obama no competitive advantage. Chet Edwards is a white male from a state Obama won't win anyway. No that white males should be excluded from consideration, but Obama is under a lot of pressure to pick a woman or a minority. If he is going to pick a white male, he should pick one with a great deal of executive experience. I'm not saying this is my mindset, but it is the affirmative action mindset of the Democratic Party.

Then in 2012, they will turn on Hillary and put all of her garbage on the table, while reminding us how Hillary stayed in a race she had know chance of winning. She had lost in February, but no instead of her doing the right thing she caused a division that will not be repaired in a long time. At least through 2016. So Republicans congragulations on your game plan. You have a good thing going.

Roland   August 3rd, 2008 6:27 pm ET

Chet Edwards would be a fascinating choice. He might even be able to bring in Texas. I think Chet would temper Obama's embrace of Bush's failed faith-based policies. The rationale, global warming.

I would have guessed that the Democratic party would want to breathe some fresh air into the special cadre of people selected for the top positions in government. Instead, more Texas !

And where are the women ?

JFord/NV   August 3rd, 2008 6:14 pm ET

I am in complete agreement with Brad as he sees the situation with an open-mind. Nancy needs to go, she has not been anything but a total failure, and the low ratings that Congress have received can prove that. Actions speak louder than words. Nancy loves nothing more than to put blame on the president and never allow herself to be blamed for the mistakes she has made in the last two years - which is nil because she has done absolutely nothing!. I would not trust Nancy's judgement either regarding her pick for a veep - she has no intellect and should not make suggestions when she, herself, has failed at her job as Speaker of the House.

If you don't believe what Brad indicated, then you need to listen to the news and be informed as to what he is referring to. I have asked the same question over and over - what have the Demcorats done in the last 18 months since Nancy Pelosi became the Speaker of the House and Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader? Harry Reid claims that oil and gas is making us sick. Oh, please, give me a break - if that is true, why is he still flying around in his jet and struttering around town in a gas guzzling SUV? It is him that is making us sick - don't do as I do, do as I say!

The price of fuel is up, the cost of food is high, the unemployment rate is at another all time high, people are losing their homes, with the State of NV being the hardest hit, and some banks has been forced to close their doors. In the State of NV, Silver State Bank had to close their doors. A week before that, Bank of NV/First National's Bank was bailed out by Omaha Banks. And, Nancy wants the Democratic Congress to use their "imagination" when voting on whether to drill offshore. Use your imagination? She has got to be kidding - the high cost of fuel is not an "imagining thing" it is the cold, hard fact!

Impeach, impeach, impeach - that all we hear about Bush among the Democrats, excuse, me, but you need to research the voting records of the Democrats and you will find that the Democrats, with the exception of a few, were just as responsible for the war in Iraq as President Bush. The surge is working in Iraq, but Obama is in denial, and he thinks he has a better plan. Yeah, right, bring the troops home and then, following on their heels the terrorists will be entering our country from every angle.

I am a registered Democrat, but I must say the Democratic Party is not what it use to be!

One person i don't trust at all is Nancy Pelosi. This fox in a snake's skin should not be elected again and who cares what she things. Under her leadership, congress has the lowest approval rate.
She should just shut up and listen to what people say.

why the support for this virtual unknown? sure it would be out of the norm, which may be a good strategy, but are there other reasons? peolosi has not proven to be an effective leader thus far, so the big question is why should anyone take her advice.

Trying to be relevant when your book flopped on Amazon.com.

We need to remove you, that is what we need to do.

Ms. Pelosi, you are the biggest liar and hippocrite in the democratic party!!!

Remember these words?? "The Super-delagates should not overtrun the will of the people" ….well, what was the will of the people 18 million votes later?

Shut the Heck up..no one cares what you think!

Pelosi,
Don't even talk about Hillary you threw her under the bus in the primaries so you and the DNC could install Obama. I have lost all respect for the Dems.

Rob   August 3rd, 2008 6:08 pm ET

why do mccain supporters need to comment about the Democratic VP choice? Worry about your own candidate. He needs lots of help….

lisaque   August 3rd, 2008 6:06 pm ET

Who cares what Nancy thinks.

Hillary where are you????

banderson   August 3rd, 2008 6:04 pm ET

What I don't understand Madame Speaker is that you was so against Senator Obama picking Hillary Clinton for VP and yet you suggest someone whom no one has ever heard of. I am not quite sure how this helps Barack Obama get elected.

What possible interest can there be in anything Nancy Pelosi says? She did her best during the primary campaign to divide the Democratic Party, and she's accomplished virtually nothing as Speaker of the House.

At best she can be described as dysfunctional, at worst destructive, Karl Rove in a dress (and a fairly unimpressive face lift).

kelly WI   August 3rd, 2008 6:00 pm ET

Her botox has slipped into her brain. Maybe Cindy Sheehan will beat her out. Dems always pick flakes.

Good Choice.
