ST. PAUL, Minnesota (AP) – A 73-year-old retired surgeon marching in silence with a tombstone picturing a soldier killed in Iraq. A philosophy professor calling for a new investigation into the September 11 terrorist attacks. A long-haul trucker from Texas protesting the price of oil.

Those are just a few of the images that demonstrators hope will capture the attention of delegates, journalists and others attending the Republican National Convention.

Tens of thousands — from anarchists and immigrants to advocates for the poor — plan to use the streets outside the Xcel Center as a national podium, transforming downtown St. Paul into a marketplace of ideas.

"There are some groups that are going to be here just because this is a big stage," said Chuck Samuelson, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota. "But I think the majority of groups are here because they really want to demonstrate to the delegates that they want to see some sort of changes in the party platform."

Protesters and police expect the opening day of next month's four-day convention to be the biggest — with a huge anti-war march.

This war is almost over you fools, now will you go to o-bambi and protest all of the NEW wars he is proposing?

Good for them - someone needs to because the war has cost a lot of lives and cash and they main thing is an exit strategy.

John McCain   August 3rd, 2008 4:18 pm ET

This is the real John McCain.
"Of course the U.S. government should pay compensation. It's the U.S. military's fault," said survivor Cho Kook-won, 78, who says he lost four family members among hundreds of refugees suffocated, burned and shot to death in a U.S. Air Force napalm attack on their cave shelter south of Seoul in 1951."

Do we want someone who would drop "NAPALM ON WOMEN AND CHILDREN"!

This is great! American taking our country back from the Republican Big Oil Conglomerates!

Marc PDX   August 3rd, 2008 4:12 pm ET

Get a job! This is how democracy works. You have to allow the "loyal opposition" to campaign too. If you don't like it move somewhere else. Maybe Gwyneth has some room over in the UK… Or Canada's nice…

McBush will keep the "War" going for 100 years, that means I better stock up on some rice and beans.. Because food prices are going to go throught the roof in the next 3 years.

Too bad most of them are not even registered to vote…LOL! Democrats have nothing in November. Obama is going to get crushed!!! Not sure why you all picked him to be your nominee!! Still not too late to change your mind I suppose….

I am sure they are paid by George Soros and move on. CNN, you behave yourself. You do not have to publish such useless news. Did you tell then that the surge in iraq is working? perhaps they do not know.

You can lead a Republican to water but you can't make him think.
Trying to tell the Republicans to adopt an intelligent, forward-looking platform is like trying to teach a pig to sing.
It only wastes your time and annoys the pig.

God bless them, and God bless our inalienable rights given by the Creator and not the government, since the Magna Carta of 1215, and Yes; as an agnostic, I can say that, with the utmost pride. Our country was began as a Democratic Republic. Read the Federalist Papers, our founding fathers knew the only way to maintain a healthy Republic was for the voice of the people to be heard. Resounding, deafening, uninfringable, by government agents. The highest court in the land is us, we the people. We seem to have forgotten that somewhere along the way. Be proud of your Bill of Rights, and learn them like the back of your hand. Someday soon the people will have to stand and be heard in unison, or lose our Republic to the power hungry elements within Military Industrial Complex and their lapdogs the International Bankers. You can see how much damage can done when we don't stand up for our rights, with the last decade as a perfect example of how much erosion can occur in just one generation. Public education and the press should be ashamed of themselves for not educating ignoramuses, in basic citizenship.

alan j   August 3rd, 2008 3:01 pm ET

I hope the protestors show up in the thousands at the GOP convention. The backlash to a rabble in the street will do wonders for McCain.

Typical dems–protest anything and everything–I hope JM gives them a chance to make fools of themselves by allowing them to scream and yell to their heart's content–as he usually does–then calmly finishes his speech.

I am shocked if obama's paid supporters decide to picket the Republican Convention. that would be a shame but judging Obama a politician first and always, you would never know what may happen.

Is Obama sending his thugs there? That is the question. He is risky, he looks foreign to me, and he does have a funny name.

tornado1972   August 3rd, 2008 2:38 pm ET

This is a big example of the condition of this great country of ours, yet the race for President is close.

So when you look at the situation like that what you see is not pretty.
If Obama somehow does not win, this country will have hell to pay in more ways than one!!

McCain has the same image both home and around the world of what is so very wrong!!

wayne   August 3rd, 2008 2:32 pm ET

I feel that when McCain speaks he"s talking at me not to me
When he's says "My friends" he's not reffering to me
When he says "Americans" He doesn't have me in mind.

He in my opinion has a very institutionilized and isolationist view very much like the current president and it's administration who as we all know only answer to a select few.

Anyone who would vote for McCain or choose not to vote has a vested interest in the current status quo. Which does not benefit me in any way shape or form which is why I am voting (not) for McCain

Hmmm… maybe those Congressmen that protested Congress by staying AFTER Congress left for the summer break will appreciate the same effort and statements THESE people will be making during their protest of the Convention… but I doubt it.

Chances are, these protesters aren't wealthy contributors to the GOP AND since they don't AGREE with the GOP… their protests are falling on deaf ears. After all… the GOP has NOTHING in common with the common man.

Founding Fathers were not against freedom of speech.

Too many stupids in one place I think.

Protest high gas prices….democRAT congres left for vacation without any ideas…you can't drill your way out the of problem is Irrelevant because you can't put up 1000 wind trubines by next saturday either.

Investigate 9/11 all you want, you will just look like a fool…..what about the aliens in Roswell, think their technology can solve our energy problems?

US troops will still be dying when that Obama chump sends them to Afghanistan and Pakistan……but its ok for them to die if a Liberal sends them to war, right?

Concerned Citizen of America 08   August 3rd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Too bad these people will be kept away by 10′ chain link fences. The people are sick to death of what the GOP have wrought upon this nation with their deregulation of just about every bill or rule put out there to keep our country in balance so that everyone can win in the game of capitalism. 5.7% unemployment right now, half a million job losses and home foreclosures since Jan 1. Gasoline and food prices skyrocketing while Oil companies boast of highest profits ever. Cuts in social programs while Investment banks and wall street are being bailed out. Where is the moral and social justice in all this?

Morgan   August 3rd, 2008 1:24 pm ET

The more interesting story is who wont be at the GOP convention- all those Republican incumbents distancing themselves from this negative 72 year old warrior.
Frankly I think McCain is selfish. If he really cared about the country and not just grasping power he would admit a 72 year old is not clear thinking enough to be the President. Let someone in the prime of life with experience grounded in the present be the one to lead. Obama is "the one," and we're praying for him.

Bob from San Francisco   August 3rd, 2008 1:23 pm ET

I applaud the effort, but what makes people think that greedy dirt bag politicians care about protesters? Seriously, the entire city of St. Paul could march and the delegates wouldn't even blink. Nothing will stop the lust for more millions of dollars from corporate and industry pay offs. Same goes for Democrats, but they just have a little more ethics than the Republicans.

Another grumpy old white woman for Obama   August 3rd, 2008 1:21 pm ET

Go Dems! Make some noise and drown out the lies of the corrupt.
We can stop them if we stay united against them and let them know that there is no hope without change.
There is so much more to this election than the price of gas.
There will be enough gas inside the hall to power us for the next 100 years.

Tess   August 3rd, 2008 1:19 pm ET

expect that thousands of Hillary supporters will come to Denver in August to protest DNC for the role they play in this election as well(between Hillary and Obama) See you there!

Willow, from Iowa   August 3rd, 2008 1:18 pm ET

I can just imagine how big an anti war rally could be at the GOP convention. the GOP seems to act as if we are all children, and need to be protected from ourselves. They act as if they are voting in our best interest, but not voting what we want. The GOP needs to begin polling their constituents for what the citizens in their areas want from government, and then providing that. Instead, they know the percentages against the war, yet they do what they think is best for us, even tho its NOT what we want for our country. We are not children.

Raymond Duke   August 3rd, 2008 1:15 pm ET

I don't know why these left wing liberals want to demonstrate against the Iraq war at the GOP heck it is Obama that has flipped flopped from immiediate to 16 months. I don't know why they want to demonstrate in the first place it is an all volunteer army. They must be scared that if McCain was to win that the liberals might have to face a draft and have to serve their country. Instead of whining they might have to reaaly participate in america .

voter   August 3rd, 2008 1:10 pm ET

well good for them. The republican party has destroyed the economy, created a forigen policy disaster , the price of gas has increased, ignored the envrionment and can't create jobs. They are proud of themselves for this horrific job. People should protest. They are running this election with scare tactics, but hasn't told the American electorate their vision or plan for the country except more of the same. People should make their voices heard, protest.

Richard, FL   August 3rd, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Tens of thousands of people will demonstrate against the administration that John McCain has supported.

"The fact is that I’ve agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I have been totally in agreement and support of President Bush." — John McCain to Tim Russert

"I don’t know if I would want (Dick Cheney) as Vice President. He and I have the same strengths. But to serve in other capacities? Hell, yeah."
— John McCain, 2006 interview with Stephen Hayes for a book

McCain is a continuation of the Bush administration. He will make his tax cuts for the rich permanent, he will continue the war and attack Iran, he will work for big oil and big corporations over hard working Americans, and he won't do a darn thing to change the horrible ways of Washington as it is today.

Voting for McCain is equal to giving this horrible Bush administration a third term.

Auntie Coosa, Blairsville, Georgia, USofA   August 3rd, 2008 12:54 pm ET

'They'll get their fifteen minutes of fame, maybe, but what will they accomplish? It's all for show and not for substance. Idea . . . why not volunteer for VISTA or the PEACE CORPS or pick up litter along the roadside or DO something FOR the Country instead of spending money and placing yourself in a crowd of thousands, none of whom have YOUR best interests in mind.

You can stand there or march there in protest or you can DO something lasting for another person or Country or THIS Country. But mostly, it's for show or they would be doing something FOR the Country instead of protesting.

Tim   August 3rd, 2008 12:52 pm ET

The Republicans will lose in Nov. They are already in trouble. Their base is ripe for the picking. The Republicans are being told to avoid the convention. Finally, the biggest story about the Republican convention is that there will be more protestors out side than people supporting the convention inside.

D.   August 3rd, 2008 12:51 pm ET

I think some rephrasing could be used for "from anarchists and immigrants to advocates for the poor." By connecting anarchists with immigrants using "and" on one side of the "from… to…" clause, this suggests some kind of affinity between them. Wouldn't it be more accurate (and less questionable) to say "from anarchists to immigrants to advocates for the poor?"

Connie   August 3rd, 2008 12:51 pm ET

Will this be the answer to the 75,000 that is going to show up for Obama?
I am an Obama supporter and with all my heart I do not want to see John McBush as president, but I think the protesters should stay home. If they want to change things then go to the polls and VOTE. OBAMA 08

Ron democrat turned independent   August 3rd, 2008 12:42 pm ET

given the demographics of congress should the demonstrators ( those not paid by the democratic campaign not be questioning the role of the democrats for the state that the country is in. for a start most of the democrats also voted for the war. and the democrats have had the opportunity many times to affect the downwhirl spiriling of the economy but elected not to for purely partisan reasons. so if they want to call some one to task why not demonstrate against all concerned not just target one party.any research of i just wrote will show i'm being totally unbiased in saying this just pointing out as a independent that these parties are so obsessed with their own agenda that they have little regard for the public so get them both.

Phantom of the Oprah   August 3rd, 2008 12:41 pm ET

The REAL show will be the DEMOCRATIC convention:

Obama thought he could just steal the nomination and the democratic party would not care…. so long as a democrat was on the ballot- the sheep would pull the "D " lever .

The democratic base surprised them by ACTUALLY believing in democracy, fair campaigns, fair elections and fair play. The voting irregularities of the Obama suporters have come to light. Obama thought it would not matter- by the time anyone realized that he cheated and thugged his way into being selected and installed- they would have no other choice than to back HIM anyway.

NOT SO… MILLIONS ARE NOW COMMITTED TO DE-RAILING THE IMPOSTER. Four more years of Republican rule is nothing compared to a future where the democratic party swiftboats its own best candidate and demeans, ridicules, dismisses and trashes its own base.

WE WILL WE WILL TEACH YOU
WE WILL WE WILL TEACH YOU
WE WILL WE WILL TEACH YOU

Donna   August 3rd, 2008 12:41 pm ET

I hope there ARE thousands protesting. The Republican agenda and tactics of fear are something TO PROTEST about… poverty, unfair tax breaks to the rich, corporate giveaways that have raped and plundered this country for the past decades…

I think the American public is finally beginning to realize that far from "trickle down" wealth Reagan promised, wealth has poured UP.

The only thing that ended up trickling down you can find in your toliet. Like the American economy and the world's opinion of America.

Thanks, GOP, Rove, Reagan and Dubbya

I live in MN, and showing my disdain for the Republican party is something I would have once jumped at the chance to do. That was before my party, or former party nominated Obama. This man, this rock star, uses race to divide us, he flip flops on every issue. He voted for the Cheney energy bill, but now whines about profits the oil companies are making. He voted to give them more profits. He's flip flopped on, abortion, gun control, off shore drilling, time tables in Iraq, public financing. He takes any issue looks at the polls, and swings in the wind to accommodate those polls. I will be going third party, and feeling sad that these two candidates are the best we have to offer. Obama counts on his supporters listening to his flowery speeches, and not looking at his voting record, I guess he's succeeded in with strategy , that and playing the race card

jane in CA   August 3rd, 2008 12:39 pm ET

Where are the Obama's hecklers, they may not use internet since they are McSame followers? Here is the place they should come and then vote for McSame. McSame will take care of the blacks and others while he's been in the senate for years and admitted that he was wrong on some of his votes based on his own judgement in the past. What prevents him from judging and vote wrong again in the future?

GOP Hate America   August 3rd, 2008 12:38 pm ET

Brad   August 3rd, 2008 12:27 pm ET

Don't these people ever do any research? It wasn't just Republicans who voted to invade Iraq. If I remember correctly, Hillary Clinton, among other Democrats, were just as set on going into Iraq and voted to do so.

I agree that the Republicans really screwed up big time, and I'm hoping they will again become the party of responsibility, small government, and fiscal conservatism. But in fairness, the Democrats are so busy trying to demonize the Republican party and babysit the American people that they haven't been able to get anything done in congress or senate. All talk, all complaining, no great solutions. Both political parties need a rude awakening.

Neutral   August 3rd, 2008 12:25 pm ET

Every convention there are always demonstrators, this not unprecendented. The democratic party have more demonstrators during their convention. Not only the democrats have money problem for their convention by the millions, membership for their party have decreased by 2% in the month of July. It is the right of the people to demonstrate, freedom of speech. The question is this, how those demonstrators will be treated?

Alice Newman Center Harbor NH   August 3rd, 2008 12:14 pm ET

History will remember the Obama-

The self-impressed, self-serving despot that put his desire to make history before party, country and democracy.

The blame for a GOP win will be all his- well and Oprah's..Caroline's… The new Media that makes rather than reports the news… the weak DNC… Pelosi…Brazille…Dean.

The year the tail (12%) tried to wag the dog (democratic party).

The year the politician of hope and unity stole our only hope and divided the party and the nation- ALL for personal gain.

Way to go.

I was planning to vote for McCain but after taking a second look seeing him in person I realized how short ,fat, wrinkled he is with little white hair left ,when he smiles he looks Frog and actually is butt-ugly,walks stiff looks color less and fatigued so realized adding this to tired hearing his negative comments and know little of what he can or will do except continue in Bush footsteps.
He may pick Bush as his VP to guide him that was on a blog from someone in the know ,said he has known all along the vetting just his cover for this surprise.

Turnabout is Fair Play   August 3rd, 2008 12:04 pm ET

We need to remind the warmonger idiots and the Rush Limpball listeners as well as Hillary's supporters what the Republicans still stand for, STAYING THE COURSE, even though it makes no sense to do this. If I could afford the gas, I would go there and add to their protests. Those threatening to vote for McWar just because Hillary did not win (and NO she was not cheated and he was not SELECTED, Obama won fair and square and followed the rules and you all know it.) had better think about what you are doing in November. IF you blow this one chance to make a difference, a chance that may never come again, we WILL remember in 2012 when Hillary runs again and we WILL do to her what you are threatening to do to Obama. It cuts both ways and turnabout IS fair play.

Eric Seattle   August 3rd, 2008 12:03 pm ET

Have you ever noticed that liberals are always protesting? Do you think it is because they are the ones with free time on their hands because they don't work and continue to add nothing to our country or society. Go get a job.

St. Paul protesting artist   August 3rd, 2008 12:02 pm ET

There are numerous groups here planning to protest, from wild to mild. Since I can't stand Republicans, and don't want to get near one, I contributed a couple of anti-Bush posters to a group that's going to run all the contributions on a giant jumbotron screen set up across from the Xcel Center, where the creepy, old RNC geezers will be. It's going to be fun to see how the convention goes. Maybe the lying Republicans will realize that everyone hates them, and just bow out of the race this year. That'd be nice.

I'm sure there are going to be thousands protesting Obama.

And there are going to be thousands of Hillary Supporters there.

Hillary should be the run running for President.

Amerika the beautiful   August 3rd, 2008 12:00 pm ET

The GOP will prevail.

The hateful Cult of Obama and the celebrity bandwagon and the Adoring Media-for-installing-Obama all created a schism that will cost the democrats the election.

TRUE DEMOCRATS must NOW choose between party loyalty or democracy itself. America's best hope was hated out of the election- not by the people- but by the celebrity clout and the media bias. Now we vote and say okay to the destruction of democracy or stand up and put a stop to rigged election NOW.

Turnabout is Fair Play   August 3rd, 2008 11:59 am ET

I hope the RNC is disrupted by these wonderful protesters as much as the Democratic committee was by a certain candidate's protestors, no even more so.

Anonymous   August 3rd, 2008 11:58 am ET

GOOD. I'm glad there will be large anti-war protests there. It should remind these Rethugnican dogs why we need change instead STAYING THE COURSE..are you LISTENING McCain? That goes for the dam fools who are still only thinking of their own best interests instead of the country as a whole when they threaten to vote for McStain over Obama just because a woman didn't win the democratic primaries, not that either one is better than McWar but that a "WOMAN" didn't win it. It's about our country and the hell we're in now, not about feminist radical emotional hatred.

ML - California   August 3rd, 2008 11:58 am ET

The voice of the American people is important; however, protest marches and chaos, even at a convention doesn't impress anyone.
I hope we see a convention of stability and not violence.

VON BISMARK,Vienna.   August 3rd, 2008 11:57 am ET

Repent thou mcWAR. There is a voice crying under the sand of Iraq.

There is no room for revenge in God's kindom especially on innocent people. The gab between Vietnam and Iraq is like heaven and hell.

Former g.o.p.   August 3rd, 2008 11:57 am ET

The best way to protest the Corruption, Incompetence and Arrogance of the last eight years of the bush-mcain g.o.p. is to send a few bucks to Obama, engage your doubtful friends, relatives and neighbors and vote.

Crush Rush   August 3rd, 2008 11:56 am ET

Im sure the Neocon Taser Patrol will handle the crowds.

Brad, CA   August 3rd, 2008 11:55 am ET

The more protesters the better… but changes in the party platform? This will never happen - Exxon just announced an $11 billion quarterly profit; obviously the Republican platform is working for the ones that finance and benefit from it. INVEST IN AMERICA, NOT IRAQ.

Reality Check Richmond Virginia   August 3rd, 2008 11:55 am ET

good for them, protesting is a great american tradition…….just make sure everyone practices non-violence.

Alex   August 3rd, 2008 11:54 am ET

Dems are stuck in the fix they rigged   August 3rd, 2008 11:53 am ET

Meanwhile… in another part of town… Obama makes history.

The year that the beautiful half-black man made a reckless grab for power- with NO qualifications, experience, track record whatsoever.

The year one black- half black - man's ego superceded the good of the democratic party and the entire country.

The year that the demogogue Obama hatefully and subtly divided, destroyed and gutted the democratic party- driven by his blinding lust for power and a desire to write himself a chapter in history.

The year the Media created the news of his inevitability and the year the DNC decided to install the half black man to win votes.

go away mongers- Ventura ca   August 3rd, 2008 11:53 am ET

This is a perfect send off for King george and a message to their current voice of fear & hate- The last eight years have proven to be more than enough incentive to work for CHANGE!

Republican trash   August 3rd, 2008 11:51 am ET

Whats the point of replying to these comments on the weekend when they ignored all of them on saturday. Now all it says is permalink? Why have a "leave your comment" here if you are planning to ignor it all?

Jake   August 3rd, 2008 11:49 am ET

And how many are expected at the dem convention? Oh, that's right, none, the democrats are all about sunshine, rainbows and unicorns, no one would even think about marring their pretty little party.

HOw about fair coverage CNN? And, I know, this will not get posted.

JA Cook   August 3rd, 2008 11:48 am ET

More than a change in the party platform is needed. The Republican party is severely damaged by Bush, Cheney, Rove and many others. The rich and the conservatives have had too much influence and taken the party out of the mainstream.

We need two parties but this one is in need of a major overhaul.

McCain is too much of the same.

Rebuild the brand and come back next election.

Ryan   August 3rd, 2008 11:48 am ET

I can hear the chants now "More government, open borders, no individual responsibility!"

Makes sense, right?

GERRY   August 3rd, 2008 11:47 am ET

YES THERE SHOULD BE DEMONSTRATORS BUT THEY ALL SHOULD CONSTRAIN THEMSELVES, NOT GETTING THEMSELVES IN TROUBLE WITH AUTHORITIES. BEING RAISED DURNING THE VEIT NAM WAR AND THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENTS DEMONSTRATIONS SHOULD FOCUS ON THE ISSUES. IN MY OPINION THE THINGS THAT SHOULD BE DEMONSTATED AT THE GOP CONVENTIONS SHOULD BE: THE END TO THE WAR, THE ECONOMY, HOLDING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION ACCOUNTABLE, AND A TIME FOR CHANGE IN WASHINGTON.
GOOD LUCK, STAY SAFE. AND STAY FOCUSED.

hatred will kill the democratic party   August 3rd, 2008 11:46 am ET

Why would ANYone vote republican this year?

I don't get it.

Oh, wait… I remember… Obama banked on a campaign strategy of hate. Got all his vile, filthy, vitriolic, vulgar supporters to trash, bash, denigrate, debase and disrespect HRC. Thinking that with the best candidate eliminated by the vocal hatred of his pundits and cult… Obama would be king.

The Media played their part well to promote the least and destroy the best. The DNC was so afraid that AAs would black out the vote- all the Black radio show hosts spun as much- that they capitulated to force and threats.

And now we have the Obama- who would vote for a candidate that thugged and strong-armed, cheated and manipulated, divided and hated his way into being installed as the nominee?

NO TRUE DEMOCRAT- that's for sure.

This is the year that the DNC forced its base to change party affiliation. The democratic party is now dead.

M.S. Indiana   August 3rd, 2008 11:44 am ET

Only Thousands of protesters ?? i think their will be millions against Bush, McCain the GOP, anti war, anti corporation, anti big oil, this is the beginning of a revolution !!!!

Power to the people, yes we can

sad for party unity   August 3rd, 2008 11:40 am ET

The media knows darn good and well MANY will be protesting the travesty of justice that the DNC created.

Why not report on that?

Sheople yes, people no so much.   August 3rd, 2008 11:35 am ET

It is a good thing that the democrats are all just thrilled with the candidate Oprah, Caroline, Kerry, Kennedy, Dean, Pelosi, AAs, Richardson, Edwards and the media FORCED on the party.

At least there won't be any demonstrations at the DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION.

Next time let the voters vote- no threats and strong-arming at caucus and count all the votes- no discounting Fl and Mi.

No TRUE democrat who values the right to vote and who loves their democracy will vote for the selected and installed nominee. It does not matter if his name is the only one listed by the " D " lever.

We are not all sheep for Obama willing to have our vote decided for us.

Texas trail puppy   August 3rd, 2008 11:30 am ET

I used to respect Sen. McCain however nowadays when i see him on tv i feel like throwing up, how low indeed has this man stooped in order to win this election!!!!!

susie   August 3rd, 2008 11:30 am ET

Where is the article about all the protesters that are suppose to show up in Denver for the Democrat Convention?

A house divided   August 3rd, 2008 11:29 am ET

The real threat is the way the democratic party subverted democracy just to install their leftist puppet, Obama. Now democrats won't vote for a democrat for the first time in decades.

Even BLACK is not THAT beautiful that Americans will vote just for political correctness.

Imagine: Hillary as the nominee and Obama as her VP. Democrats for 16 years. Now it is NO democrat for decades to come.

Would the GOP even be breathing now if the DNC had counted the votes and gone with the winner?

Bibek   August 3rd, 2008 11:25 am ET

No matter how much people demonstrate, it's not going to change the GOP's mind on war and economy.
In from one ear-out the other.

Obama '08/'12

Amerika the beautiful   August 3rd, 2008 11:20 am ET

The GOP did not have a prayer of a hope- until the democrats installed their least candidate as the nominee.

The media created the myth of Obama and then fell for their own hype of his appeal. The Media overestimated Obama's popularity.

The media created the myth of prevailing Hillary hatred and then fueled the hate. They grossly underestimated the love and fondness Americans have for Hillary.

The media thinks Obama's excellent European adventure was a success. Yeah… to Europeans. Americans just recalled images of Hitler speaking to adoring crowds. Germans have a history of falling for hype and rhetoric and charisma. It wasn't an excellent adventure in the minds of Americans who are suspicious of tyrants and despots that are full of themselves.

SO NOW… Lifelong democrats have committed themselves to derailing the Obama campaign- to protest the way Obama subverted the democratic process and cheated and forced his way into the nomination.

SAD DAY FOR AMERIKA

Chuck, Montgomery, AL   August 3rd, 2008 11:15 am ET

I'd love to be there and express my displeasure with all republicans at this time.

I've changed to the democrat party and will NEVER vote for the sleazy slimey republican wealthy old white men again.

Go Obama and Dems '08

Vote all the wealthy old white men out !!!!!!!!! Take our country back for US.

death blow   August 3rd, 2008 11:14 am ET

SAME FOR THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION.

WHAT A GREAT THING IT IS WHEN VOTERS DON'T GET TO VOTE.

AMERICANS ARE DISSATISFIED WITH BOTH PARTIES.

DR   August 3rd, 2008 11:13 am ET

Three words for these protesters: "Get a life!"

Media darling   August 3rd, 2008 11:12 am ET

Thanks to Obama, his hateful cult following and the media drooling over Obama- the GOP now has it in the bag.

Funny…

We DEMOCRATS started this primary with the best of candidate….

and we ended with the worst of candidates.

Josh   August 3rd, 2008 11:11 am ET

Don't forget about Larry Craig…. maybe he'll make another appearance in the airport men's room??

Barack O'wah wah is protesting   August 3rd, 2008 11:11 am ET

Barack O blah blah is likley organizing the GOP protest —— Mr O' wah wah has not business being on the same stage as senator McCain —- He has NO political experinece on the national stage; he has NO national security experience; he has NO national economic experience; he has NO homeland security. In short, he is NOT qualified to be Vice President let alone President of the most powerful nation in earth. He has no original ideas and will say and do anything to win

Renee   August 3rd, 2008 11:09 am ET

I think there will be FARRRRRR more PROTESTORS at the Democratic Convention than the GOP's!!!

AJ   August 3rd, 2008 11:05 am ET

these people STILL ignore all the heroism and success of our military in order to bash America

do they save that hatred for the terrorists? no.
