The funny thing is, Cheney is about the only thing I respect about the Republican party. He is not a stupid man by any means. He has his ideas and stands strong behind him. He is easily hated and with good reason. But he is exactly who he is at all times. And with him it's not Bush's stubborn ignorance. CHeney simply believes what he says but is smart enough to know what he's saying. If you ask me, McCain is making a bit of a mistake if he's trying to appeal to his own lost constituancy.

So if Cheney appears at the convention, will everyone have to be in place hours in advance and not able to take bathroom breaks for two hours until he is done speaking? Just curious.

even a crook like McCain knows that cheney is eyeballs deep in high crimes & misdemeanors. the vice president is devoid of anything resembling honor, & has been an agent of corruption for more than 30 years. on January 21, 2009 he should be sent to fix every defective shower that his friends built in Iraq. the showers that have killed more then a dozen US military personnel through criminal negligence & war profiteering. what a pathetic vampire

I would've thought they would've had the details of the convention well planned given that it's only a few weeks away. Maybe McCain is waiting to hear what Barack Obama plans on doing before he makes a decision.

He can't seem to do a thing without following Obama's leadership. I guess it's understandable since McCain's probably one of his biggest fans, even going so far as to compare him to the Messiah.

McCain's chances at victory rest solely on one thing. Making people forget the failures of 8 years of Republican leadership.

If people understand that Republican leadership has led to either neglect, corruption or incompetence on every major issue the voting public would not make the mistake of electing another Republican.

You will notice that McCain will never tout the successes of Republican leadership even as he runs as the candidate of the incumbant party. It will always be a smear on Obama or what he is going to do...never about what they have done.

The Dick may not be in attendance but the song remains the same. The once "Maverick" has flip-flopped on all the issues he once differentiated himself from this Administration. A vote for McCain is a vote for four more years of mismanagement of the war, the economy, energy policy, and the American trust.

No Thanks John, I'll take inexperience over a ineptitude every time!!!

Some one is not telling the truth. People at the level of government that Cheney is at have their calendars working weeks and months ahead of time. Probably, it is good for Mac if Cheney stays off the stage. There are a lot of real conservatives, like me, who are very frustrated with the way this administration (that's Cheney with Bush reading the note cards) has destroyed the national economy and enriched their cronies.

I feel that Dick Cheney should be part of the Republican convention. I do not feel that it is appropriate to exclude the Vice-President of the United States from such an important convention. All political views should be presented for the voters to make a judgement on.

Oh, wait, that's the McCain camp. Yeah, this IS news! He should be the person giving the nomination speech!

The closest we've come to the 3rd Reich....

Where is justice?....with so much evidence on the table.

What has happened to our justice system that these people are not being prosecuted vigorously?

Why are we not outraged?......

If these men "retire to their riches back at the ranch", ....4100 Americans will have truly died in vain.

This country has been moving farther and farther to the right since the 80's and now we are going to hell in a handbasket with the conservative leadership that we have had (Rep and Dems). So what does that tell us? We need to make a sharp left and go back to the middle where this country should always be.

That's a hoot!! President Bush is speaking one night of the convention and yet Cheney is staying home! I don't know how Senator McCain thinks he is going to put Bush-Cheney behind him?????? Everyday his ads, his surrogates and advisors are "using the Karl Rove playbook"! And furthermore, everyday McCain's campaign is sounding like "more of the same Republican nonsense" that we heard for years and years last past. Bush, Cheney and Rove are glued to McCain's vision for America like plaster to a wall!
