This guy (McCain) spends so much time talking about experience making him so much better, while wanting to inject humor into the process. McCain, the direction of this country is an extremely serious matter, not to be taken lightly!

I keep hearing McCain and some pundits say that Obama needs to "lighten" up and that McCain is just bringing "humor" to the campaign. Last time I checked this country was facing some of the toughest times in decades. Everyone likes a little humor but we need someone who is serious about trying to get this country headed back in the right direction and not a jokester. Bush had a sense of humor and was the "frat boy" that everyone would like to have a beer with and look where that's gotten us. This tire pressue "joke" just shows just how out of touch McCain is. Of course he doesn't want us to conservere more energy because it would drive down the record profits of his oil buddies.

I don't get the joke. It IS a way to increase gas mileage. I agree that it's a great idea to point out the little things that EVERYONE can do to help the cause, and if everyone in the country participated, it could make a difference in overall consumption. These sniveling little attacks reek of arrogance on McCain's part (which is ironic because that's the label that Obama's somehow stuck with). I really hope that the American people will be smart enough this time around to see through this nonsense. The negative stragedy didn't end up working out for Clinton, so maybe there is some hope.

it has actually been proven, that properly inflated tires CAN conserve gas, unfortunately not many people know this. also not driving with your windows down will help by allowing the car to run with the maximum in aero-dynamics. A/C does not burn gas as people had thought, that is an urban legend! Americans could save money if they were willing to maintain their cars properly...

When was the last time any of you checked your air pressure or rotated your tires with out the service guy telling you???

The post above was partially right... Obama is going to have a hard time telling people that they have to do things differently... he obviously has not gotten the memo that most of us are not going to change our behavior or habits!!!

It only takes a mortgage crisis, inflated gas prices, rising food costs, etc... for any of us to notice that there might be a problem... most of us just continue to pay as usual and keep on going!!!

My generation seems to believe that if you ignore the problem long enough it will just go away... instead of trying to fix it or take some sort of action!!

I don't know what McCain's problem is. I don't know why he thinks this is "funny" or "humorous" at all. It just makes us look stupid. He is bad for our image around the world and he is apparently so far out of touch with reality that he doesn't know that proper inflation can give you an extra 5 mpg which is a HUGE savings when you multiply it by every single car on the road and every gallon of gas used by them. So McCain should just quit his pathetic attempt at humor now and leave the campaign to someone who is serious about helping America. The ONLY way to help this country is for US as citizens to be willing to DO something to change. We can't wait for it to happen to us, because it won't. Obama heard McCain's criticism of him on international policy, and so went to Europe and the Middle East.
He should now follow McCain's lead again – and give out gauges of his own. Obama has said repeatedly that this campaign is not just about him, but about all Americans getting involved. He can further that message while mocking McCain's mockery by doing this.

As for those who say Obama uses other's policies and claims them as his own – of COURSE! Every politicians, every policy maker has policies made up of the ideas and opinions of those around them. They become their own. Clinton and Obama could both say "this is my policy on X" even if its the same thing – because that is their policy on X, or whatever the issue is. It doesnt matter how many or in what order those polcies came out. Obama has never said "I invented this policy" just that it is part of his platform.
