Obama camp launches military families working group

Michelle Obama will meet with military spouses Wednesday.
Michelle Obama will meet with military spouses Wednesday.

(CNN) - Days after a television spot from John McCain’s campaign suggested Barack Obama did not hold enough respect for members of the military, the presumptive Democratic nominee’s campaign announced Monday that Michelle Obama will host a roundtable discussion with military spouses highlighting the launch of a military families advisory group.

Michelle Obama will meet with military families in Norfolk, Virginia Wednesday, an event designed to spotlight "Blue Star Families for Obama," which the campaign describes as "a national military families council" that will provide policy input and coordinate with the campaign on events featuring military families.

Michelle Obama held similar discussions with military spouses last May in Kentucky and North Carolina. Last month, the McCain campaign released an ad that suggested the Illinois senator had skipped a visit to wounded service members on his overseas trip because he could not bring members of the media with him. Obama’s campaign has denied the account.

"Obama calls for giving 'full vote' to Michigan, Florida delegates"

WHY IS THIS NOT THE TOP STORY?

WHY WAS COMMENTS CLOSED SO EARLY FOR THAT STORY?

WHY WAS THE NEWS RELEASED BY THE DNC ON A SUNDAY?

    THESE ARE THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS.

OBAMA STOLE THE NOMINATION AND HE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE HERE RIGHT NOW. A LOT OF THINGS COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD ALL VOTES AND DELEGATES BEEN COUNTED IN MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA BUT THE PRESS IS JUST HAPPY TO TREAT THIS AS ANOTHER STORY. FOR ONE,

WHY DID OBAMA GO AGAINST FULL REPRESENTATION BEFORE? WHY WAS IT SO CRITICAL BACK THEN THAT THAT HAPPENED?

OBAMA IS PLAYING POLITICS AND THE PUBLIC AND MEDIA IS JUST LETTING IT SLIDE. IF HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE HIS WORD, WHAT DOES HE HAVE? HE HAS GOT NO EXPERIENCE. AND PARIS IS MORE OF A WASHINGTON OUTSIDER THAN OBAMA, WHY DON'T WE ELECT HER? THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

    BRING HILLARY BACK!!!

  2. Sexism is grand...racism is evil

I know it will take dozens of trys before you post my honesty:
    The hateful Obamas played dirty:

Obama thugged, threatened and strong-armed his way to being installed as nominee.

Michelle worked race hatred to that same end- she had to think about pulling the democratic party lever if the nominee had been Hillary.

Media- please question HER party loyalty. please call her a bitter old racist… please ask how could she NOT vote for another democratic candidate with a BETTER platform than her hubbies?

MEDIA IT WAS THAT KIND OF PRO-OBAMA AND ANTI-HILLARY BIAS THAT CAUSED DEMOCRATS TO REFUSE TO VOTE FOR OBAMA.

I dont believe anything this militant racial terrorist has done or says she is going to do. If her husband Oprahma wins the election, America loses.

I hate to disappoint you but here is one military family that will be quite proud to join Michele, our future first lady in a discussion about military families.

What would make me physically ill is to have to look at fake, pill-stealing, husband-stealing Cindy for 4 years. Why would someone want to steal mcsenile anyways? eeeeewwwwww!

  7. No party loyalty- just like Michelle

C'mon CNN- this is the truth and you know it:

    The Obamas played dirty:

Obama thugged, threatened and strong-armed his way to being installed as nominee.

Michelle worked up the race hatred to that same end- remember how she had to "think " about pulling the democratic party lever if the nominee had been Hillary.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT CNN AND THE MEDIA OUTLETS. AFTER YOU CAMPAIGNED TO DESTROY OBAMA AND HE HASN'T SUNK, AT LEAST NOT YET YOU STILL CAN'T REPORT ANY NEWS ABOUT OBAMA ITHOUT BEING ON THIS ISSUE AND WITH OTHERS AND FOR YOU TO STATE SHE IS JUST DOING IT THE FIRST TIME IS MERE FALACY.

AGAIN YOU SAID OBAMA DENIED THE ALLEGATION HE COULDN'T VISIT THE TROOPS BECAUSE HE DIDN'T TAKE THE MEDIA WITH HIM. YOU KNOW IT'S AN OUTRIGHT LIE. WHY DON'T YOU CALL IT WHAT IT IS A LIE THAN MASQUERADE IT. DO SOME INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISIM THAN INUENDOS.

It is AMAZING that the Media GIVES CREDIT TO MCLAME SMEAR ADS FOR CLOSING THE GAP. IF AMERICA IS FALLING FOR THOSE SMEAR ADS THEN MAYBE OUR NATION IS DUMBER THAN EXPECTED!!!!

If the American electorate votes for 4 more years of Bush policies, I can not feel sorry for them. All I know is they are ignorant of what is really going on with the neo-cons in charge and McBush is more of the same.

Still For Hill, have you paid any attention to anything for the last few weeks? Obama was doomed no matter what happened with the troop visit in Germany. Why? Because he knew that McCain would immediately point it out as a campaign ploy and nothing else.

I find it positively despicable, but sooo typical of Rove-type GOP smear tactics, that the McCain campaign had two ads ready to go denouncing Obama no matter which decision he made about Landstuhl.

Thanks McCain for the wonderfully positive campaign in which you promised to participate. Turns out that was just the first of many lies you've now been proven to have told in your run for the White House. Of course, we still have over 90 days to go till election. Wonder how many more you can come up with in that time. What happened to the at least somewhat reasonable candidate of 2000?

  13. I Can't vote for the other democrat either

Just like Michelle, I can not vote for the OTHER party nominee.

No one questioned her on that lack of loyalty to party, platform, or the needs of the country.

now millions of democrats will follow her lead and boycott Obama

Let's see that annoying little goblin McCain actually describe a few substantial policies he'd enact as President, instead of all this absurd Obama-bashing he's been doing.

To bulldog, it's clear you haven't read any of the recent articles about Cindy McCain. I too didn't have a favorable view of her until I learned more about her. You ask what has she been doing, ok,she has been an advocate for children's health, she serves on the board of an organization that repairs cleft palates, and she also has been involved in fighting global poverty. Now what has Michelle done?

Now, if our troops/veterans would not have been put in this position in the first place, we would not be having this conversation. And, after allowing our babies to be put in harms way because of a bunch of lies, they are now neglected by the very ones who put them in this evil place. Thank you Michelle for loving and respecting your country enough to listen to their needs. The Bush administration should be held accountable for what they have done to the troops/veterans and this country. McCain went along with all of the deceat and no more then a Bush # 3. Greed is such a shameful and thoughtless thing. Pelosi make them pay, please!!!

go ahead republicans.start trashing obama for trying to help veterans families.trash michelle, because of your jealousy.do and say whatever you want.the obama's will maintain their integrity and keep discussing the issues ,while mccain runs dirty ads,and tries to attack the obama's personally.veterans will be needing our help for years to come, after this ill-advised war, that should have never been fought.mccain wont offer veterans any benefits ,because he wants them to have to stay in the military,to fight his next ill-advised war with iran.you think gas prices are high ,now?wait and see if mccain's elected.this nation will fail......without change...

Gee let's see what is Obama going to do next. I guess we will just have to watch the polls ! Whatever CHANGE needs to be done they will do it.

    Wake up !

Look in the mirror and ask yourself (be honest! ) Is obama saying and doing anything he can to become president? Is that the kind of man we really want in the Whitehouse? Someone who will say and do anything to get there??

You GO Michelle. Make it happen. For some reason people do NOT want to think. How can ANYBODY love the troops when they sent them into battle WRONGLY, did not PLAN WELL, did not give them BODY ARMOUR, did not PLAN FOR THE INSURGENCY and did not allow the PRESS to show the bodies coming home and lastly did not FIX WALTER REED HOSPITAL.

The person who did NOT support the GI Bill is saying he is for VICTORY ?? What a JOKE

    Lets THINK here folks

As a military wife I'm glad they are doing this. Now they can hear our side of it. Watching our soldiers year after year after year getting deployed to Iraq and the struggles we face.
