CNN Poll of Polls update: Obama leads McCain by five points

(CNN) – The CNN Poll of Polls has been updated to reflect a new AP-IPSOS poll. Sen. Obama now holds a five-point lead over Sen. McCain – 48 percent to 43 percent – with 9 percent of registered voters remaining unsure about their choice for president.

The latest CNN Poll of Polls is an average of the following four surveys: CNN/Opinion Research Corporation (July 27-29), AP-IPSOS (July 31-August 4), USA Today/Gallup (July 25-27), and Gallup tracking (August 2-4). The poll of polls does not have a sampling error.

The previous CNN poll of polls released earlier Tuesday showed Obama leading McCain by 4 percentage points.

It kinda sucks that CNN has to pick the 3 polls where Obama has the biggest lead. Either include all polls like Real Clear Politics does or just conduct your own poll. Or you could also use the same 3 polling companies' polls each time. If polls already can't be trusted, how can we trust a pro-Obama polling system. Great job with your poll of polls.

This is just the beginning. If the so called polsters could poll the cell phone only crowd, the results would reflect a 15 pt lead versus a 5 pts.

I saw a recent poll that said "10 out of 10 Idiots support Obama. Came from a source as reliable as the Communist News Network (aka Clinton News network, aka Obama News Network).

    It must be true :)

It's terrifying what stupid people in large groups can do. Watch and see at the Democratic convention.

Like I said, it's going to be a close race, but Obama will win hands down. I say all us accused "koolaid drinkers" need to make sure we celebrate when Obama is elected by having koolaid with your favorite flavors. It's still early, but what matters most is Nov 4. Can't wait, counting down the days.

The real truth is CNN wants McCain to win this election (or) what is this non-sense. They say 7, 5, 1 and then 3, 5, 4... He must be really leading over McCain with atleast 20 – 25 points or more.
I spoke with several people including strong Republicans who have been voting Republican for past 20 years.. they already voted for Obama Vs Hillary and they are voting for Obama in November.
Even my dog barks, if he sees McCain or hears anything about him. This man doesn't care how a normal person will live in America and he will make conditions worse than the Bush. All he cares about is his share in future Iraq spending..how much can he take home pay to his lobbyists.

The further ahead Obama gets, the more sinister McCain's ads are going to get. He just can't imagine himself losing AGAIN. McCain is the guy who couldn't even beat Bush for the nomination. Why does he think that now, eight years older and having accomplished nothing in the last eight years, he can beat Obama.

It's obvious, America wants a whole new mindset in the Whitehouse.

And ladies, any man who would suggest his wife take part in a topless contest, who would call his wife the "C' word to the press, who thinks rape jokes are funny, is not the kind of man you want running this country.

It's gonna just get better by the day. The negative attack ads by McCaine and the Repubs have backfired. The have demeaned Obama's intelligence, ridiculed his successful overseas trip, and brought him down low to the likes of Britney and Paris.
Americans have gotten smarter over the years, when it comes to how the repubs will want us to see their opponents. Never again. Look at what they have given us for the past 8 years. NEVER AGAIN

    It depends on the poll.

One poll has Obama and McCain tied.

Another poll has McCain up by 1.

Either way, Obama's 9 point lead is gone!!

For someone who is supposed to be The Chosen One, The One To Bring The Races Together, I don't think a 5 point lead, is anything to brag about. and by the way he had a 10 point shift in one week. not to great I would say. OH! By the way can The Election Center, and Anderson 360, possibly find any angrier Black Man to come on you show? McCain- Clinton 08 is The One And Only True Ticket To Bring Americans Together.

The tax proposal by Obama is fair and Patriotic! It is only fair, Christian-like, and Patriotic that those who , 1)live in America, 2) earned millions of dollars, 3) enjoy the American dream, and much more ... be WILLING to pay more taxes. ESPECIALLY seeing that the country that has given them that opportunity to EARN lucrative wages is facing DEPRESSION and possible terrorist take-over due to a weak economy. ..any good Patriotic American citizen shoul be willing and embrace the tax increase for $250,000 or more with this spirit..."As not what your country can do for you, but as what you can do for your country!" Help out Uncle Sam and PAY the Taxes...he needs it . Be a good Samaritan or PATRIOT! Those who do not in my book ARE NOT PATRIOTIC including JOHN McCAIN.

  16. THE TRUTH

A real Patriot is willing to accept OBAMA's tax increase. Isn't that what Patriots do?? Anything , for the survival of the country? It seems to me that a real Patriot won't mind sacrificing his livlihood to save his country...But now, who is willing to pay 1 cent on the dollar ? Answer, every one who knows OBAMA's tax plan is plain and simply THE RIGHT THING TO DO in times like these.

Oh yeah, McCain tried to criticize OBAMA's popularity by comparing him to ...Paris something? Someone need to remind him that one of the greatest Presidents to live was a celebrity too, and an actor...President RONALD REAGAN...he did not do so bad did he?

  20. THE TRUTH

By thwe way...I like OBAMA's methodical approach to the oil drilling situation. Let me now say this. While I was a Petroleum engineer in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I worked for ARCO and Amerada Hess. I can tell you a TRUTH...I discovered hundreds of wells in the mid 70's throughout Oklahoma, and Texas that the oil companies just capped and abandoned because they could not get the price they wanted per barrel. Then, it was a meger $15.00. Obama is right again, we should carefully consider offshore drilling , but not count it out altogrther. OBAMA is a smart dude.

Additionally, someone need to take a survey or estimation to see how much oil we have in capped wells in (Oklahoma,Texas, Colorada, Wyoming, Kansas, New Mexico). I am willing to bet...enough to last us 100 years. Open up those wells, and allow those royalty owners to start earning monies again. This will definately stimulate the economy.

I'm waiting to see CNN plaster the same headline on their so-called "Poll of Polls" when McCain starts leading in the polls – which should happen in about 2 weeks.

Well, as much as I like seeing good numbers for Obama, probably should also factor in McCain's 1% lead (with leaners) on the Rasmussen tracking poll.
