Sen. Clinton will campaign for her former rival in two states this month, according to the Obama campaign.

(CNN) –
Hillary Clinton will campaign for Barack Obama on two dates in August, the Obama campaign announced Tuesday.

She will hold rallies and voter registration drives in the swing states of Nevada and Florida on August 8 and 21, respectively. Obama won’t attend Friday’s event since he is taking a planned vacation with his family — and it’s not yet clear whether he’ll be at the latter date, which falls just days before the Democratic convention in Denver.

The last time Obama and Clinton were seen together was at a New York fundraiser on July 10, when she told donors, “I’m going to do everything I can and everything I’m asked to make sure he takes the oath of office on January 20th, 2009.”

That fundraiser was one of three the pair have held since Clinton suspended her campaign in early June, and just their second public appearance together.

Obama has said on several occasions that he hopes for both Bill and Hillary Clinton’s help campaigning to win in November.

“I am proud to call [Hillary] my friend, and I know that I desperately need her and Bill Clinton involved in this campaign,” Obama said in New York.

Love you Hillary –

You are not a Democrat. You are a Republican looking to stir the pot.

A true Democrat knows their real interests lie with Obama, and not McSame and the failed policies of the last 7 1/2 years.

Yes, we can!

Hill is the best   August 5th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

SHE IS THE REAL DEAL.

If she were not such a true democrat and true patriot she would just stand by and let the imposter sink… who cares about the party????

Hillary will fix what Obama has torn asunder.

justpaul   August 5th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Come on Hillary. Is that really the best you can do? This guy lied about everything consequential issue in order to win the nomination from you. He's not really opposed to the war in Iraq, even though he used it to beat you over the head. He's not really opposed to new oil drilling deals. He only said what he had to say to beat you, and now he's trying to carve out a nice safe place next to John McCain in the middle of the road. Stop working for him, go to Denver, and point blank ask his supporters if his news stances are what they voted for.

tony   August 5th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Let's get real—
She doesn't want him to win—
Her only shot to be President is if Obama loses and she can take it in 4 years—
I hate to admit it but the Media was biased Obama's way because oit was "in vogue " to support him—
The right decision was Hillary in 08 with Obama getting seasoned as a VP–
Thank goodness the Democrats couldn't figure that out–
Now both of their candidates will lose—the chance to be President—Too many small interest groups to satisfy–
Pelosi and Reid know whats best " No Drilling "despite 74% of the people want it—Even Obama has Conceded ( another reversal ) that drilling might have to be the compromise — don't kid yourselves he knows it's the right thing to do but can't admit—It's part of his personality—
He couldn't concede the surge worked either—
Too elitest and the Kerry charge from the "KEPT MAN " that one hurts–
LOL

Mike - Texas   August 5th, 2008 2:27 pm ET

Hillary won't campaign too strongly for Obama.

There is still a lot of hatred there for what Obama did to her.

If she only knew how bad the Obama supporters were to her in these blogs, then she wouldn't have anything to do with him at all.

Proud Army and Navy Mom   August 5th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Ever notice how the libs on here immediately resort to name calling when they constantly fall behind on the substance of the issues? (the cute McX comments) Or ever notice how they say opposing opinions are not welcome and should be eradicated and those people are marginalized? Or when it is said they should not even be able to participate in the blog? WELCOME to the democrat party.

I feel sorry for him. Maybe send a box of his favorite cigars?

Don't be a beggar for Obama if you want to run again!

WHATEVER OBAMA THINKS IS RIGHT FOR HIM I'M OK WITH IT. I DON'T LIKE BILL MUCH AND DID NOT WANT THE CLINTONS IN THE WHITEHOUSE … BUT WE MUST PULL TOGETHER AND TAKE THE BUSH / MCCAINS OUT ……

Frank   August 5th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Yes, a sign of desperation. Obama wanted nothing to do with the Clintons now he will sell his soul to them. You know Hillary won't do it for free.

Jeff, South Bend, IN   August 5th, 2008 2:25 pm ET

Love you Hillary: You are completely off your rocker. Hillary started that whole trashing, negative, divisive turn of the primary campaign and was the standard-bearer for tearing Obama down. And now you act like she was just the poor defenseless little woman being victimized by the bullies. Give me a break.

From the internet "A Friend who is Serving in Afghanistan"—"So really he (Obama) was just here to make a showing for the Americans back home that he is their candidaate for President" This registered Democrat hopes Hillary's name is tossed out at the DNC convention as the nominee for President…

mary   August 5th, 2008 2:22 pm ET

come on people do we really want another four years of the last eight years? I sure hope not. if so we will be the number one third world country. We need to strongly support Obama to win this election and HIGHLY commend Hillary for her support and willingness to go out and campaign not only for him but for the american people.

I think Hillary should tell Barack that he better make her his VP or he will not have to worry about November. I do not think he can do it without her as VP. The news is starting to tell the truth about him and the tide is turning againest him. If he is smart he would do something real soon. He knows he needs her to win Florida. Just look what happen to the polls in the last couple weeks. Obama you need a vacation and you better use it to tell your wife that Hillary is your only chance to win. Your wife will have to except it if she wants to live in the white house next year.

tpw   August 5th, 2008 2:20 pm ET

Barack and Michelle Obama have always been courteous and respectful to the Clintons on a personal level, and vice versa. Both families are good people and I doubt many could dispute this with credible evidence. But you have to play to win, which Barack did. but Shoot you can't blame him for winning the majority of votes! I hope the Clinton's will help out more in the future because they are powerful allies. As democrats we have to support our candidate. To do otherwise would be wrong.

Justin Athens OH   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

It is hilarious and ridiculous how SALTY HRC supporters are.. If she had won the primary, I'd be voting for her in a heartbeat in November.
Barack Obama 2008 – 2016

Paula M.   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

I understand why Hillary is going to campaign for Barack. It is her political future at stake. If he loses, people will blame Hillary for all her negative compaigning to add fuel to McBush's fire. Then, Hillary will not win in 2012 because the majority of democrats will be angry at her and will not give her another chance at becoming president. If Hillary shows real enthusiasm for Barack, people my forgive her a little for her negative campaign. If Bill does not show real positive feelings for Barack, his political standing in the democratic community will not be high. He will lose many opportunities in the rest of the world, because of Barack's popularity there.

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

Maybe this will convince those that claim to be Clinton supporters to vote for Obama come the fall no matter who is the VP. If they don't, they how much are they really Clinton supporters? I think that they could be Republicans hoping to confuse people.

GB   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

Of course all the young people and African Americans are on here being hateful. If he does not choose Hillary as VP, he will not win period.

Audrey   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

Wow, can't you people understand it was just an election and not personal. Obama needs Hillary on the campaign trail to help against the GOP attack machine. Forget the hate people, unite and get behind the man. Hillary must do this, don't forget she also need his campaign to help retire her debt!

People unite and put away the hate. There are bigger things out there to express these very strong emotions. Support them both. I hope Obama gives Hillary an important position in his Administration when he wins – not the VP, because that would not be a fit but Attorney General or Secretary of State etc – the lady deserves it..

Realist   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

If Hillary does not throw Barack more than scraps in this campaign, and the GOP somehow takes this in November, HRC may undermine any chance she has at the White House.

Peggy - TX   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

In response to anothers earlier question: what do PUMA stand for?

I think the Puma’s are a combination of young disenfranchises feminist and elderly Dems with Racist leanings, which explains why they seem so disconnected and lacking in any substantive criticism of Obama. Any thing that they say about how badly they were treated by the Obama campaign is drowned out by how badly the Hillary Campaign ran against Obama.

Ron L   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

To Love You Hillary… Could you please give some examples of the swift boating Hillary was subjected to. If I recall properly, Hillary was MUCH MORE NEGATIVE during the primary, and you have to remeber Bill said it was a CONTACT sport. So give us 3 examples of this so-called swift boating…

Steve   August 5th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

NOW is the time for the Dems to make a major push towards getting the White House back from the morons that were in it for the last couple of years and to make sure that the FOOLS that elected the worst President ever do not get another chance by election McSane to replace him with all the lies and baloney they make those that are blind and hopeless eat daily.

P.S. DOES ANYONE SERIOUSLY WANTS TO ELECT A 72 YEAR OLD MAN COLLECTION SOCIAL SECURITY AND A VERY, VERY RICH WIFE TO THE HIGEST OFFICE IN THE UNITED STATES?????? HE'S JUST TOO OLD AND OFFER NOTHING, NOT EVEN HOPE FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE.

Excellent! Hillary & Barack UNITE!! Let's take the White House in 08!!

Weepy   August 5th, 2008 2:17 pm ET

I am not a Democrat! BUT…I have admired Hillary Clinton for staying in there during the primary—despite all the ga-ga crazies jumping into Obama's "shopping cart". Hillary was shoved aside by Ted and Caroline Kennedy because Caroline stated that Obama reminded her of her father! How shallow can someone be? That one comment created a fire storm for Obama! Talk about a sad state of affairs. So, I am disappointed that Hillary would go out of her way to do anything for an absolute fraud or to appease the Dems. The Democratic Party really screwed up on this one! In fact, that party continues to send the wrong people to the plate. Have to admit, though, that Obama is the most personally likeable person of recent years. But that's all!

Karen from Charlottesville   August 5th, 2008 2:17 pm ET

Hillary lost my respect this year with her poorly run campaign, but a lot of women my age identify with her, so I think it's important to thank her for her support of the Democratic nominee.

Patty, Big Bear, CA   August 5th, 2008 2:15 pm ET

Hillary no doubt still feels the sting of the way she was treated during the primaries….but because she is a true Democrat and loyal party member she will do what needs to be done to make sure bush3 doesn't win in November….that's what she's supposed to do….that's her job if she wants a future….

Debra   August 5th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

This why a long hard fought primary wasn't good for the party…… certain followers don't know how and when to admit thier person lost (PUMA). Do you hear Huckabee or Romney's followers stating what McCain owes them or have to do to get thier support…… No!

I realize Clinton is a great political friend to have, but its time to support the nominee….. fully. If you don't agree with Obama, thats fine but casting your vote for someone clearly different from the one you supported in spite is nuts. Think people think!!

Dem   August 5th, 2008 2:13 pm ET

Please don't do it Hillary. This man is such a flip flopping liar it's pathetic. He will do and say anything to get your vote. Right up to stealing it.
Read the article about Obama on Yahoo news about how he voted yes for Cheney's big oil tax break bill years ago. Meanwhile McCain voted against it because it gave to many tax breaks to the big oil people.
Obama is a phoney.
I would vote for Perot over this loser anyday.

Doug, New Jersey   August 5th, 2008 2:13 pm ET

Don't forget that if you vote for Obama you are supporting a man who wakes up each morning to turn on the tv or log on to an internet news site hoping that our troops have been killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Winning the white house is more important to Obama and most liberal Democrats than the lives of those fighting for our safety. The lib will lie about McCain but they won’t tell you the truth, McCain’s own son has fought in Iraq.

I believe that most Americans are good, honest people who want to do right by everybody. Therefore all they need is the truth and the facts, and then no Democrat would ever be elected.

It is time for us decent Americans to accept the reality of what some of our fellow Americans have become. Just listen/read to what they say and watch how they treat other people, almost all Liberal Democrats are mean, nasty, hateful, dishonest people who lack common courtesy, decency, respect and the desire to do right by other people. These are the ones who file the frivolous lawsuits, cause reckless unnecessary accidents and inconveniences on the road due to their rudeness, lack of courtesy, and narcissism. Also check the murder, rape, and theft rates per person in blue counties Vs. red ones. No longer can we ignore the truth.

Hillary 08!   August 5th, 2008 2:13 pm ET

Do you think that Obama is Mr. Goody to Shoes, he is a politician, they are all crooks. Just some are better crooks then others. So if you think Obama is clean, you will find out.
And by the way those who voted for Bush, four years ago wish now they didn't . It going to be the same with Obama or McCain….

I still think Hillary was the best choice.

US Army 4 Obama   August 5th, 2008 2:12 pm ET

Florida Democrat   August 5th, 2008 2:12 pm ET

It was the last straw for me when it became clear that Obama thought he could win without Clintons 18 million supporters and decided to select someone else as his VP. I will be casting my vote for McCain in the fall because my vote is the only way to show my party that they should not take the voters in their own party for granted.

Minnesota Voter for Hillary   August 5th, 2008 2:12 pm ET

Karen   August 5th, 2008 2:11 pm ET

I'm going to take a wild guess……that the majority of you Obama supporters are:

Under the age of 25; or, were in your teens or younger during the Clinton Administration (and maybe part of the Bush Jr. admin); started smoking, drinking, partying, whatever – just because your friends were doing it; consider yourselves to be "politically savvy"; and in this case…do not read articles in total. If you read the above article you would have noticed the part that read…

"Hillary Clinton will campaign for Barack Obama on two dates in August — Obama won’t attend Friday’s event since he is taking a planned vacation with his family — and it’s not yet clear whether he’ll be at the latter date."

That makes the score on vacations: Senator Clinton = 1; Senator Obama = 3 (within less than 2 years and while running for the most important job in the world.

Okay BO supporters — go ahead and attack Clinton, me, and anyone else that doesn't agree with your "opinion."

Hillary got screwed   August 5th, 2008 2:11 pm ET

I realize this is probably a waste of time because CNN chooses not to post my thoughts usually but here goes………

Hillary is willing to campaign for Obama and he will be on vacation? Get real Hillary. Dump this loser and run a third party campaign. You would actually win with half the democrats, most of the independents, all of the women and most of the seniors. The perfect storm. Better yet, become McCains VP and show true bipartison politics is not a myth.

To surged out…………..comments like yours make me want to puke. Your comments are pathetic and misguided just like your candidate.

I think it's great that she will show support for Obama…against McCain the supposed "straight talk" candidate whose been outright mocking his opponent with false statements and low road ads, caomparing him to Britney, Paris and Moses??? Imagine McCain as president, how many new wars will we have to fight because McCain decides to make fun of the other world leaders. How many allies will we lose when he starts mocking the other leaders who disagree with him. He claims to be the one who will work across party lines…yeah right he will reach across party lines only if they agree with him. Obama is trying to get things done, by intelligent compromise to benefit the American people and McCain's camp claims he flip flops when he will tell you that he stil doesn't agree with off shore drilling but will accept a compromise that will move the real issues forward like moving towards independence from oil period and investing heaviliy in alternative energy. If you want a flip flop look to McCain who really flopped on the issue…

Jeff, AL   August 5th, 2008 2:10 pm ET

I admire you Hillary for campaigning for Obama. You've given so much service to this country. A lesser person would not be as good as you considering how the DNC and Obama did you wrong during the primary. I am trying to make my decision for my vote. People should not dismiss, minimize, or trivilalize the lasting bitterness effect of Clinton's loss. Racism, ageism, or sexism – if it isn't one thing it's another. Hillary is a better woman than I. Which of course, I already knew.

Former Hillary Supporter 4 Obama   August 5th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

Hillary is doing the right thing after giving the Republicans a line of attack on Obama. This isn't about Hillary or Obama. If you were actually for Hillary's policy posistions, you would be for Obama just like Hillary is for Obama. Anyone who voted for HIllary and is now voting for McCain is simply showing how shallow they really are….They have no grasp of policy and no real core values…all they care about is putting a white face back in the White House.

g. morthole   August 5th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

It worries me that seemingly every time I hear anything about politicians from either side of the fence, I'm hearing about them taking vacation. It seems to me that given our current socio-political status, our leadership needs to have some endurance. These are people living mor-or-less priveledged lives who are being entrusted with the decision making powers for this entire nation and it seems that we hear more about them enjoying their fruits and see less and less of their labor.

SZ   August 5th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

You Hillary fanatics are beyond delusional. She ran a dirty, win at any cost, smear campaign and you have the nerve to say SHE was a victim???? HA!

Chris from Baltimore   August 5th, 2008 2:07 pm ET

Perhaps she's realized that if she doesn't definitively show that she supports the Party and its candidate, in a full-throated way, then the backlash against her in future races (for Senate or President) will be so strong that she won't politically survive even a primary challenge.

Her political future is on the line if she doesn't FULLY support the Democratic nominee.

Informed Voter   August 5th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

Obama '08   August 5th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

We live in a racist and sexist society and that is where the "hateful" "disrespectful" comments come from, not from the candidates themselves – just read the posts on some of these entries over the past months and you'll wonder why anyone wants the job of President of this mess.

Mary, San Diego   August 5th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

Oh, no; not Hillary again! It's taken her long enough to keep her promise of campaigning for Obama but I still don't want to have to see her phony face or hear her lies again. I've had enough of the Clintons to last forever. I wish they'd just fade away.

Heather Seattle, Wa   August 5th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

Perhaps Hillary can call John McCain and inform him that making jokes about signing Cindy up for a topless beauty pageant in Sturgis is highly offensive to women, family values voters, and a few men, too. Maybe he will listen to Hillary. Unless he thinks she's just a c-word and a trollop, too, like he does his own wife. Seems to be a pattern with him.

Hillary Clinton Supporter   August 5th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

I wish she wouldn't since Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and their supporters spent the primary trashing her and her husband's legacy. She realizes her future success depends on it. We appreciate the effort, but we will not vote for Obama. I have been contributing to the McCain campaign, and i will support him in November. Sorry, Hillary, I cannot support the Democratic nominee. I will, however, continue to support both you and your husband in your future endeavors. For all the haters on the blog, I have sent contributions to pay back her debt on multiple occasions, I am college educated, and I am a white woman married to a black man. I practice what I preach, I am not ignorant, and I am not a racist. i simply vote for the most qualified candidate.

Jan   August 5th, 2008 2:06 pm ET

Boy, are the Dems showing their true colors They have all called the Clintons every name in the book except the "N" word. Now that they need her, she is "a friend".. I will never vote democrat again after this fiasco. Get Brazille and Pelosi to help you, Obama–they have only been trashed by your blog supporters, not the entire media AND your supporters like the Clintons. Go away whiners and fill up your tires or something.

Mark from Naperville, IL   August 5th, 2008 2:05 pm ET

You can't argue that the Clintons have a powerful political machine, but Obama has run a campaign that will go down in history. When McCain can't buy an audience these days, Obama has brought a group together that will make this world a better place in which to live.

It's really the only move she has left if she wants to remain in politics as a viable Democrat. It goes a long way toward overcoming her childish behavior during the primary election. I'll even consider donating to her campaign payoff if Obama wins. Good job.

Hi Jack,

my english may play tricks on me!…the smirky smile is from McCain of course!:)

Very good news. This country owes itself this type of respect to a man and a woman who has help the country see better days and continue to help at home and abroad…and most importantly, every generation has to learn and come together by not putting down another generation. I do not understand how people the same age as McCain can tolerate his attitude of treating a 47 year old man a young man with his smirky smile… he is so condescending I can only imagine how he must bring younger generations to believe in themselves and in the supposedly American Dream!

I would like to really know this, so please people do not beat me up for what I am about to ask: Did Hillary suspend her campaign or did she officially concede and withdraw her campaign?

55 yr. old Hispanic Female from Dallas   August 5th, 2008 2:03 pm ET

Hope someone from Obama's camp is watching her closely during these two events. I have never liked this pretentious woman and I feel even more disgust for her after the way she back-stabbed Obama during her failed campaign. This woman cannot be trusted to do anything positive for Obama. She is only concerned for her own personal political welfare. She desperately wants to be in the White House and not as VP! She & her husband (and he "owes" her big time for making a complete fool of her) will do ANYTHING for their own personal agenda. We just heard Bill's interview yesterday and he is not a happy camper! He still can't believe they lost. What a enormous ego the Clinton's have! Obama should NOT trust either one of them. They still feel they are "owed" as if they were born into royalty…wrong country…they are a scary couple .

Hillary gave as good as she got. And when she ranked Obama below McCain, said all he had was a speech, she stepped way over the line and, speaking personally here, lost my respect and my vote. Political contests have winners and losers, and Hillary came up short. Stop acting as if this is some rending of the fundamental order of things, some contradiction of all that is right in the cosmos. It happens. Grow … the … hell … up.

Don   August 5th, 2008 2:02 pm ET

"However, Obama himself voted for a 2005 energy bill backed by Bush that included billions in subsidies for oil and natural gas production, a measure Cheney played a major role in developing. McCain opposed the bill on grounds it included billions in unnecessary tax breaks for the oil industry".

This is from Yahoo on how Obama is trying so hard to link McCain to oil companies and he voted for this bill. I wonder what his supporters would say about this. He almost crucified Hillary for her Iraq vote maybe the American people should blame him for high gas prices. Seems fair to me.

fella from Chicago   August 5th, 2008 2:02 pm ET

I feel sooooo bad for this lady. Because of the Florida and Michigan fiasco she lost the Primary, and now she's asked to speak on behalf of this clown who she knows isn't qualified to run for the Presidency. All the while her husband is sitting at home stewing, because he knows Obama threw the race card unfairly into his wife's campaign. Now Obama doesn't even want the lady who had 18 million people vote for her in the primaries as his VP. He's a snake Hillary and that's why his poll numbers have plunged 10 points over the last week putting him into a tie with Senator McCain. America is finding out each day more and more what a louse he is. Vengence will be yours come November.

Allan   August 5th, 2008 2:02 pm ET

Don't do it. They play race card. They Bill is racist. Look like anybody who against Obama is racist. I vote for HRC but never for Obana.

Veridico   August 5th, 2008 2:02 pm ET

I wish she would stay away from him as he doesn't deserve her help at all; Everybody still remembers how he treated her, especially when he snubbed her during the State of the Union address.
By the way, why is CNN not reporting his sleazy tactic of wanting to give FL/MI delegates 100% voting right, now that he's the presumptive nominee? He was dead set against it, remember?

A lot of NEOCONS posing as Clinton or Obama supporters are posting hate mail. They're trying to drive a wedge between us!
RESIST THE NEOCON HATE MACHINE!

The ENERGY crisis is being purposefully confused with the GAS PRICE crisis. The two are only related in that the failure of the Bush administration to address the ENERGY crisis created the GAS PRICE crisis.
Solving the immediate problem of high gas prices is simple: SLOW DOWN!!!
I pumped up my tires, and slowed to 55 mph. I now go 50% farther on a tank of gas.
WE NEED THE 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT BACK!
THIS IS A NO-BRAINER!!!

My Friends, here are a few reasons why we should not vote Obama into the white house, these are facts…look what happen when we let them play basketball, look what happen when we made them play baseball, look what happen when we made them play football, look what happen when we made him play golf, look what happen we made them become coaches,NBA,MLB,NFL… look how many gold metals our former slaves will bring home to our country from Beijing this summer. Jeff   August 5th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

It’s unfortunate that Senator Clinton feels she must campaign for Mr. Ego in a Suit. I have been a Democrat for 30 years and cannot find it in my conscience to support Obama. He is running on nothing but arrogance and rhetoric. The White House is no place for training wheels. We should have learned something from G.W. Bush, but it seems as if we didn’t. Obama is the same kind of candidate in a different package.

The Nightingale Sings in Berkley Square   August 5th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

Obama has a funny name, doesn't look like us, and is quite risky. I received an email today saying he has only been in the Senate some 150 days or less.

It is always about Obama — Moi, moi et moi

Steve   August 5th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

Hey "Love you Hillary" do you even know what "Swiftboating" is? Do you know what a 527 is?

The Democratic primary was hard fought. Hillary lost fair and square. Both she and Barack went bare knuckles on a few things. Neither candidate is without some responsibility when it came to the hard language that was used. It's about time we stop this, "Obama beat up the defenseless little girl" crap. Hillary is a lioness, and is not adverse to using any tactic at hand to win. You can't be a national politician without having a thick skin, and sharp teeth.

You PUMAs and "feminists" can throw all the tantrums you want. It's Obama's game now, and anyone with even marginal intelligence knows that the game is now about pushing the Republicans out of office. If you throw a tantrum and vote for McCain, or write in Hillary, or don't vote at all, you can expect the life you're living now to get worse.
Grow up and do the right thing. Hillary is doing the right thing. Follow her lead.

Johnboy   August 5th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

Maybe she will run Obama's campaign into millions of dollars of debt. Then, after Obama loses, she can cry for her supporters to bail them out of that one to.

Let it go.   August 5th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

Lets build a bridge and get over the Primary election. We need a Dem. in the White House–our country can't take anymore of the same.

I don't think Obama should trust Hillary.

I'm betting she will really work to undermine Obama. Her only chance to ever be President is if Obama looses and she can run again in 2012 and say I told you so. I should have been the 08 choice, not Obama.

If Obama wins he runs again in 2012. By 2016 Hilliary will be too old. She knows she will be too old because she can see that her own party believes McCain is too old. She will be too old and her party will cast her aside. Her only hope to ever be President is if Obama does not win in 08.

McCain in 08!!!!!!

Hillary's fans don't listen to anybody–even her. They want what they want and they will accept nothing else. Perhaps some of that is because they don't really believe Hillary, as I don't believe her either. For someone saying they will do anything to help Obama get elected, she's sure quiet.

Kathy   August 5th, 2008 1:53 pm ET

I can only hope that this will eventually calm down the movement by Clinton supporters to vote for McCain out of spite of their woman losing. It's sad and it establishes the tone for democratic fragmentation. This sense of super-attachment to a candidate is what is creating rifts within both parties and will eventually undo parties, for better or worse.

It's cute how they coordinated their outfits in the photo accompanying this article. Now who is getting desperate? Given Bill Clinton's current remarks about Obama's readiness to become President, I find this highly ironic. Obama realizes he's got to kiss the Clintons' butts, even though they despise him. Politics as usual. Anything to get elected.

Any time Hillary is involved with anything, trust me, it has nothing to do with the other person. It is all about her and her selfish husband, who by the way is still sulking.

Why is he sulking? Because the gig is up. We realize what a skank he is, and he's not fooling anyone. He trashed his legacy so his wife could win the presidency. The odd thing about it is, she was winning before he started trashing black people. She was winning.

So if he's sitting at home with egg on his face, so be it. He's a moron. For 15 minutes of trash talk he lost his legacy which will go in the history books forever. And Hillary still lost. Go figure.

Win WIn situation!!!!!!!

Dspite everything that happened in the Primaries I still ove the Clintons very much. ANd NO Bill Clinton is no Racist!

Obama Clinton 2008. The Country need both of you!

Why should Obama seek Hillary's help? I thought she is very divisive, anti-black, outdated, Washington insider, bagagges full, etc? Why is Obama not inviting grandma, "the worst speaker in history", Nancy Pelosi? Why not send Tim Kaine or Sebellius; Donna Brazille or Gloria Bolger and Jeff Cafferty or Roland Martin of CNN? Obama can also consider Chris Mathews of MSNBC?

Obama should learn from the experiences of the Gore 2000 and the anti-clinton movement. Win first. Choose Clinton for VP.

CNN: Why won't you print comments that are are accurate, concise, and well written? Instead you print comments that are one step above a 4th grade education. Is that a reflection of your moderator or what you think about your readers?

NoMcSame(Mr. Grumpy Burns)   August 5th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

Why? Obama don't need Billary. She has nothing to bring to the table. No people, No money and no support so why does he need her. Bill is like a spoiled little boy that is still crying like the PUMA peopel. All 18 million of them. Give me a break.
The white folks have circled the wagons and Obama can't get in. I said last week that most white folks would rather see the ship sink than to have a black man at the helm. 8yrs of bush and now they are crying for more of the same in John McSame. America is still not free. We are still bound and cought inthe net of hate. We don't like or trust eachother and by the looks of things we black people have good reason not too. NO blackman will be good enough to lead this country. To vote McSame or any republican is a slap in the face after all that we have gone through for the past 8yrs.

I see big mouth Bill is at it again. They aren't worth the trash they dump. Send them back to anywhere/nowhere. "He did not make a racist comment". "He did NOT have sexual relations with that woman". RIGHT. Liar, Liar your pants are ALWAYS on fire.

I did not support Hillary as President but i would love to see her as Secretary of State.

ReverendZ   August 5th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

“I’m going to do everything I can" – for two days?

Hillary, we need you a lot more than that to get Barack elected. If you want to work off that debt, you're gonna need to take a few more steps and shake a few more hands.

Yes, I know that you've already worked your fingers to the bone for the Democratic party, but you've got to turn those supporters of yours who won't vote for Barack (simply because he's not you) – and get more folks on the bandwagon if the Dems stand a chance in November.

Nicole   August 5th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

I am glad to see Hillary out on the trail doing whatever is needed to ensure that we Dems win the White House in November. Rather she is on the ticket or not!

And to all you "Republicans" posing as Hillary supporters on these blogs please find something constructive to do like help your own candidate find at least one solution to one of the many problems affecting the American people.

And I said it before and I will say it again. There is no way in the hell a "true" Hillary supporter that was supporting her based on her views on the many issues affecting us today would be stupid enough to vote for McCain unless you have a problem with voting with a black man.

dgal878   August 5th, 2008 1:39 pm ET

Hilary, you greatly disappoint me because your actions of late are making obvious that your interests are not in what is best for the country, but what you think is best for your chosen party. I'm an independant that would have voted for you, but I'm glad we're seeing what you really stand for now just in case you show back up in 4 years.

Joe Kiloz   August 5th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Ticker: Bill and Hillary Clinton will put on a full court press for Barack Obama on November 5 th, according to the Clintons they are thrilled to do this without any reservations and because Barack Obama has won the contest fair and square. Further, with hindsight, they now admit that they underestimated Obama "We're thrilled to now support policies that we were against . Senator Obama has shown us the light, and it is very shiny and kind of hot."
The Clintons also announced they are setting up a national "inflate your tires for free" franchise as support of Mr. Obama's energy policies.

Bicyclists will contribute in solving our energy debacle by checking their tire inflation for free.

People are talking about being 'stuck' with these two candidates…our country is in dire straights ..again.. where is Jerry Garcia now? Where are the hippies to march for peace ? We changed the world and look what we've done. I would like to say I'm sorry to the younger generation. We didn't march so Bush could steal two elections! We didn't march so Cheney could be even richer (as the dude who ran Enron learned…can't take it with you-oops, left it all to his wife-forget the 'peons') Oh well. who would have thought the most powerful country in the world didn't learn from history (England,Greece, the list goes on and on and on) Good luck to us all

You don't need the Clintons Obama. They're racist and have never done a single thing for black people other than take thier votes on election day.

Stay away from them. They made their bed of failure and not supporting the black community… Let them rot in it.

Thought they could touch our golden boy and come out unscathed… America never did and never will need the HillBillary combination least of all African Americans!

Obama played the race card against Bill and Hillary Clinton – which was a personal attack! He crossed the line and I hope Hillary does as little as possible and Bill does nothing for the ingrate. Obama worked to split this nation and the Democratic Party. Cannot wait to see him lose in November! PUMA…..McCain 2008 – Clinton 2012

Jim (Iage 63)   August 5th, 2008 1:35 pm ET

Bravo for Hillary Clinton. I supported Barack Obama in the primaries, but I am proud and delighted that Democrats like her are coming together to win the victory our country needs so desperately this November.

Let's not deceive ourselves: a GOP win would be a terrible throwback to the failed Bush administration. A Democratic win would set the stage for intelligent solutions to our many problems (e.g. foreign policy, energy, health care, economy).

In many ways, this election resembles the 1932 presidential election.

Voters had to choose then between an experienced Herbert Hoover, offering failed policies, negative campaiging and patriotic slogans; versus Franklin D. Roosevelt, offering intelligence, hope. bipartisan leadership and pragmatic problem-solving.

Irma in North Carolina   August 5th, 2008 1:35 pm ET

Bitter Allen Hissein from Visalia   August 5th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

Wow. Hillary does two whole campaign events during the month of August while Bill is still sulking. Looks like Obama will have to win this one by himself.

Also, to all the PUMA's out there, get off your cheap behinds and contribute to retire Hillary's debt. The Clinton's lack of effort to elect Obama should be matched by a similar lack of effort to bail out Hillary!

Sane John   August 5th, 2008 1:33 pm ET

Cue PUMA whiners saying that this doesn't make any difference for them. They're never voting for a black guy who fairly won the majority of the delegates and votes in the primary. Instead they will vote for the old white guy who doesn't share any of their views or positions, just because he is old and white and not scary and black. Then they'll cover it up with claims that Obama changes positions, is too militant Christian, or militant Muslim, or is whatever they have to say he is to disguise the fact that they're really just scared of his race.

Bunch of idiots.

Paula, NY   August 5th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

If Hillary is involved, it's not for Obama. Hillary doesn't do anything unless it's for herself. Here is why she's campaigning, and remember she is the most selfish self-centered person on the planet:

-She wants to start working on her bid in 2012
-She wants to say she "helped" Obama
-She wants the public to get excited and protest the Denver Convention
-She wants to be VP
-She wants to be a key player at the convention
-She wants to get praise for her campaign
-She needs to pay her bills so she wants more money from Obama supporters

Is she doing any of this for Obama? I have some swamp land to sell you if you think so.

Hillary is for Hillary. That will NEVER change.

Kevin   August 5th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

Hillary has not been much of help to Obama so far. It is also clear that Bill has absolutely NO intention of helping Obama. Nope. Nada. Zero. Except, of course, when they think it serves THEIR purpose.

Independent NYC   August 5th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

I'm glad to see Hilary is coming on board. The slim machine is so bad this time around she needs to remind her supporters things can get worst if McCain is in the White House.

Hana   August 5th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

Perhpas Hillary Clinton could use this opportunity to admonish some of her followers, namely PUMAs, who have been spreading every conceivable anti-Obama, media conspiracy theory to explain why Hillary wasn't instantly anointed as the Democratic nominee.

Do I expect her to do it? No because Hillary, similar to her PUMA followers, loves to play the victim.

Still for Hill but now ONLY for Hill   August 5th, 2008 1:29 pm ET

A grateful Nation has missed this woman.

We look forward to seeing you again.

But it just reminds us of WHO the real leader is.

Obama can not hold a candle to you.

That is why he had to resort to racial division, hatred, cheating and nastiness to knock you out of the game.

I won't forget.

Bless you Hillary.

C'mon Hillary, after all of the Obama-bashing you've done, do you think we are dumb enough to believe the good things you will certainly tell us?

America isn't stupid.

Obama doesn't stand a chance.

Non-Believer   August 5th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

“I am proud to call [Hillary] my friend, and I know that I desperately need her and Bill Clinton involved in this campaign,” Obama said in New York.

Jo   August 5th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Sounds like something a VP candidate would do. Out on her own in big swing states while he takes a vacation and/or prepares for the convention. If Obama is smart and I think he is, he should pick Senator Clinton as his running mate. Can you imagine the excitement in Denver and beyond to unite the two most popular and powerful democrats on the ticket.

He also needs someone who is tough and will fight back to the attacks by the McCain campaign as well as being inspiring enough to bring in new voters. I hope it is not racist to point out that about 95% of the African American population is extactic to be able to vote for the first African American candidate. Well the same is true for women. We want to be able to vote for a woman on the national ticket also. Hillary Clinton not only brings out the feminist side of women but they also relate to her as a good mother and a loyal spouse. I am not sure that the men of the Obama campaign understand that we really want Sen. Clinton on the ticket for ourselves, our progeny, our country and our history.

Katja   August 5th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Excellent -

Mrs. Clinton can help to "unring" the bells she rang during the primary campaign.

I won't call her or President Clinton's purity of heart into question but, as a former supporter of hers, they did deliever a few "head butts" and "kidney punches" in the primary fight that were to off the mark for party unity.

Hillary's influence with so-called white, hard working, lunch pail Americans will be tested. If she can help to deliver them for Obama, her [and Bill's] stature within the party can be restored.

obama is the most dangerous man alive   August 5th, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Too bad Hillary has to do this in order to keep her job and keep her party. Very sad. I hope President Clinton doesn't lower himself to compaign for this liar.

BILLARY WILL BOTH HURT OBAMA, SO SHE CAN RUN AGAIN IN 12.

GC from Virginia   August 5th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

I'd like to see Hillary hold some sort of town hall or roundtable with the PUMA folks. Maybe she can meet with them as the protest at the convention, if they're still around by then. It probably doesn't matter though. At this point I'm certain they wouldn't even listen to her. Still don't see how a group whose entire platform is to run *against* someone – to foster and perpetuate division – can claim they stand for unity.

Oh, and I especially love how the PUMAs are now factioning off. Just demonstrates how confused and hotheaded these folks are.

Anyway, keep it up Hillary. This is why you got my vote a few months back. Nothing requires more fortitude than being gracious in defeat.

James From Chicago   August 5th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

I admire this woman for her ability to forgive.

Obama was brutal and nasty and mocking and jeering and ismissive of her.

Michelle was downright dirty and ugly.

They said they would not even vote for Hillary if SHE were the party nominee.

Hillary is big enough to try to save Obama's limping campaign. Everyone knows he can't win without her.

At least she is not being nasty to them for disrespecting her and stealing the nomination.

Miss-c   August 5th, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Well thanks mighty nice of her-
thanks Hill

Southern view   August 5th, 2008 1:26 pm ET

When Hillary won the primary election in Florida, Obama opposed seating Florida delegates. He continued to oppose seating the delegates until two days ago, when his poll numbers toppled. Florida does not owe Obama anything and neither does Hillary. She should not campaign for him in Florida or elsewhere. Obama is now proving that he cannot stand on his own, which is what many Democrats who supported Hillary or other candidates said all along. McCain is a has-been, but Obama is a never-been. The people of America are the ones who will suffer.

It is interesting that " all mighty Clintons " wont to show us that two thre apearences ARE ALL THEY CAN DO???

Chuck C   August 5th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Don't understand why, really. He slapped her the face now that he wants all of Michigan and Florida's delegates seated, after she suspended her campaign. Technically, if you count the votes that way, Clinton would have more pledged delegates, and if Obama did what he's doing now, Clinton would be the nominee. Yet she's taken herself out of contention for vice president.

This woman is loyal to her party— to a fault. And the party has constantly betrayed her. As a former Clinton supporter, I will never vote for Obama after he did this. My only hope is that McCain lasts a term so the real primary winner has a shot at the presidency in 4 years.

Raul Martinez (Latinos for McCain)   August 5th, 2008 1:25 pm ET

She should get back on the trail…but not for Obama…now that he wants Michigan and Florida to receive full seats…..those are hers as well as half the nation…if not more. Clinton needs to be on the ballot for Americans.

Don't campaign for this guy Hillary.

Hypocrits for Obama   August 5th, 2008 1:24 pm ET

Would Michelle Obama and Obama campaigned for HER?

They called her a racist.

Insulted and debased her supporters.

Michelle stated that she would have to "think" about voting for Hillary if Hillary were the nominee…

But Hillary Clinton is SO OBVIOUSLY a bigger person, a better democrat, and holds the country's best interest at heart MORESO than either Obama.

The Obamas are out for themselves… why else would Michelle indicate her loyalty was ONLY to Obama as nominee…NOT to any other democrat?

Jack Mpls   August 5th, 2008 1:24 pm ET

Obama takes a lot of vacations doesn't he!

ao   August 5th, 2008 1:24 pm ET

She should stay away from him as far as she can. Just in recent news he finally got the "audacity" to support a full vote from MI and FL, something he could not support in March (a re vote) or in end of May (he said only 50% should count – by the rules). So where is this guy standing. I admire Clinton's loyalty to the party, but I urge her to not be loyal to him, as he played her and her voters, and keeps on doing it. It's disgusting, so much for his flip-flop lies.

win486   August 5th, 2008 1:23 pm ET

I am sorry to see this. I have been hoping that the convention would do a floor count and give Michigan and Florida to Hilliary and get this flip flopper Obama out of the race. I thing Obama should have Tim Kaine campaigning more for him. They are both incompetent.

Frustrated   August 5th, 2008 1:23 pm ET

I'm still hoping for a miracle at the convention. Lately Obama's platform has morphed into Clinton's platform from the Primaries. Why do we want to nominate a copy when we could have the original??

Tony-Texas   August 5th, 2008 1:23 pm ET

From a life time Democrat…she can do all the campaigning in the world and Obama will never get my vote.

He's very lucky that she is willing to do this for him. Based on the latest polls he's going to NEED every bit of help he can get his hands on. If he doesnt put her on the ticket with him he's insane. BUT even with her ON the ticket Im no longer sure that he will convince America that he has what it takes even with her running the show behind the scenes which is exactly what would happen.

proud army and navy mom   August 5th, 2008 1:21 pm ET

If Hillary has a chance of campaigning and winning the next time she runs for anything, she needs to rein bill in and put on her best face possible of living up to her promises.

Otherwise, her outcome will probably be the same as it was in this democratic primary.

Forget it Obama, your not getting Bill. I wouldn't want to be your friend after you called me racist!

Oh yeah, by limited off-shore drilling, I suspect BHO means, leases for areas that no oil deposits exist.

Then he can keep up his same on script about oil companies no using the land they already have.

But alas, it doesn't matter what the majority of Americans think. It only matters what the 30% of Americans (we'll call them sheep) think about Obama.

Right now, the best thing McCain can do is run a McKinley-esque front porch campaign and continue to let BHO muddle through his own stances.

Afterall, if you have as much free media coverage as BHO gets, then every flaw is amplified as well as every positive. As of now, the flaws outweigh the positives as the cult-of-personality is fading.

Disappointed Democrat   August 5th, 2008 1:20 pm ET

I am disappointed that Clinton will be campaigning for Obama. I am sure she is being pressured to do so seeing that the lousy candidate that the DNC selected is not showing any gain over McCain. These people are using Clinton to get voters to vote for Obama but as much as I do love her I will never vote for him. I am sure they are alot of her supporters that feel the same way. Obama, the DNC and the superdelegates are all hyprocrites and I am sorry to see that she is being caught up in it. I wish it could be some other way that she could get out of this stupid campaigning for that used car salesman character.

I do not want Obama to ask her to be his VP because I want her to run in 2012 and beat him out of the presidency which she already did as the nominee but it was stolen from her.

Thanks hillary, this is the lady and the woman of great statue that we all had loved. Come on back gracefully like the woman you are!

Dr.Mimi De La Cruz for OBAMA   August 5th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

HILLARY, IT'S TIME TO MAKE YOUR MARK.

WE WANT TO FEEL & SEE THE FIRE.

MasterZ   August 5th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

Obama needs only one thing to secure a victory at the polls in November: Hillary as his VP.

But can she save him now?   August 5th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

This woman is amazing.

Obama sinks in the people's eyes and Hillary just rises higher.

We had our chance to elect this TRUE leader who puts country before her own ego.

Not so for Obama- he will stoop so low as to label an ex-president of his own party a racist. And he will encourage his CULT to call Hillary a Ho.

Americans KNOW who the real deal is.

Love you Hillary for trying to save Obama.

A Nightingale Sings in Berkley Square   August 5th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

Again?

Eric-PA   August 5th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

Just think, if FL and MI weren't penalized by the DNC, Hillary might have been our nominee. Now I have to vote for McCain.

PUMA

"Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it." Obama 95   August 5th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Yea… like the Dalai Bama has any chance of winning Florida… their votes don't matter anyway remember.

Proud American   August 5th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Lets Go Dems!!!

TonyinKentucky   August 5th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Great! Now let's got get 'em!

Surged OUT!   August 5th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Forgive me if I puke. I can't stand her or her lying husband. She is the worse manager of a campaign and it's finances and yet the puma/pac babes wanted her to run this country. But she did promise to campaign for Barack vigorously although we have yet to see that happen. I guess I can stomach her til november but not a second after…yuck!

Love you Hillary   August 5th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Please do not do it.

Obama, Michelle and his other hateful supporters disrespected and trashed you.

They do not deserve your help.

Your helping him send the WRONG message: that intra-party hatred and insults against fellow democrats are acceptable.

They swiftboated you and THAT is NOT acceptable to true democrats.

David Goldman for OBAMA   August 5th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

COM ON HILLARY.

SHOW US SOME LOVE.

The Other Jon   August 5th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

In reference to the maverick thread.. the only real mavericks in this election cycle are the PUMAs. They won't listen to Hillary, Obama, or McCain… Does anybody even know what they stand for? I doubt they have a cohesive message themselves beyond party-anarchy.

Well it is good for the party to try to stay united anyway.
