New Obama ad takes aim at McCain's positive spot

,

(CNN)—Barack Obama's campaign responded to John McCain's first positive ad of the past several days– an ad that emphasized his independent reputation –with a new spot Tuesday that looked to tie the Arizona senator to President Bush.

Obama’s 30 second spot called “Original,” uses part of McCain’s ad “broken” also released Tuesday, where the announcer calls McCain “the original maverick,” and then paints the word “really?” across the screen.

The ad flashes to a video clip of McCain in May of 2003 saying he and President Bush are lockstep on most issues.

“The president and I agree on most issues. There was a recent study that showed that I voted with the president over ninety percent of the time…” McCain says in Obama’s ad.

The ad continues on by asking the viewer if McCain is in fact the “original maverick? Or just more of the same?”

Full script after the jump

“Original”

:30 for TV

MCCAIN AD:
He’s the original maverick.

SILENT SUPER:
Really?

MCCAIN:

The president and I agree on most issues. There was a recent study that showed that I voted with the president over ninety percent of the time…

VO:

John McCain supports Bush’s tax cuts for millionaires, but nothing for a hundred million households.

He’s for billions in new oil company giveaways, while gas prices soar.

And for tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.

The original maverick?

Or just more of the same?

I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

McCain has repeatedly voted AGAINST renewable energy!
His record needs to be highlighted. He has voted against tax breaks and investment in renewable energy over and over again!

    Remember when Sen. McCain Said This;

"McCain said in April, “I’m sorry to tell you that the price of oil — as far as I can tell — is not gonna go down anytime soon until we eliminate our dependency on it. We can do that as a nation — we can turn out the lights five minutes earlier, we don’t have to drive the extra block.”

What’s wrong with this? Nothing in particular. In fact, it’s probably about as sensible as what Obama said about inflating our tires and getting regular tune-ups.

The difference is, Dems didn’t spend a week getting “giddy” about using lightbulbs as a political prop and insisting that McCain’s entire energy policy is composed of turning off the lights.

Ahh, shipping jobs over seas. Interesting point, and a valid one when it comes to McCain beliefs. His own wife agree's with him as well. Why else would she be part of those to benefit from the huge Budweiser sale to a foreign country.

Selling our country to the highest bidder starts with the McCain's own actions, and it won't be just beer next time, it will be every single job in america sold/shipped over seas!

McCain: The problem to all of our Solutions!
Obama: The change we need before the McCains sell out!

    MCSAME = BUSH!

If you like what George W. Bush (THE Worst President Ever) has done for America (record budget deficit, misguided war, disastrous energy policy, etc.) you will love John McSame! Bush and McCain have the same darn policies – McCain has admitted it himself!

Wake up! McCain is not the candidate he was in 2000! He is no maverick – just more of the SAME!

WE NEED CHANGE! WE NEED INTELLIGENCE! WE NEED COMPETENCE!

The repubs are softening their views to lull the people into believing that they are not like Bush.

It is a farce people, don't believe the repubs. They want to get elected and they will continue to give us economic trouble and jobs lost juste like Bush.

    Obama 08/12.

Exactly right. McBush and Bush are in total agreement on all the issues. they both support the horrible wastefull war that has destroyed our economy. they are both in lock step with Big Oil to keep America enslaved to oil instead of working to become energy independant. They are both bought and paid for by the Corporations who are shipping our jobs to China. original? maverick? I think not. McBush is just the Corporate plutocracy designated successor to their puppet Bush. Got democracy ? Vote Obama.

I am hoping that the Obama team is just waiting until after the conventions to take the gloves off and take out this last ditch effort of Republican leftovers. The old McCain would have been an exceptable 2nd choice if Obama lost, but we can't afford four more years let alone another day of the Neocons agenda.

If Obama is all "talk" then what is McCain? (if he claims to be a Maverick yet votes with Bush 95% of the time)

McCain's Experience = following others for 26 yrs and not bringing anything new to the table. What kind of "leader" is that?
