New Obama ad takes aim at McCain's positive spot

,

(CNN)—Barack Obama's campaign responded to John McCain's first positive ad of the past several days– an ad that emphasized his independent reputation –with a new spot Tuesday that looked to tie the Arizona senator to President Bush.

Obama’s 30 second spot called “Original,” uses part of McCain’s ad “broken” also released Tuesday, where the announcer calls McCain “the original maverick,” and then paints the word “really?” across the screen.

The ad flashes to a video clip of McCain in May of 2003 saying he and President Bush are lockstep on most issues.

“The president and I agree on most issues. There was a recent study that showed that I voted with the president over ninety percent of the time…” McCain says in Obama’s ad.

The ad continues on by asking the viewer if McCain is in fact the “original maverick? Or just more of the same?”

Full script after the jump

“Original”

:30 for TV

MCCAIN AD:
He’s the original maverick.

SILENT SUPER:
Really?

MCCAIN:

The president and I agree on most issues. There was a recent study that showed that I voted with the president over ninety percent of the time…

VO:

John McCain supports Bush’s tax cuts for millionaires, but nothing for a hundred million households.

He’s for billions in new oil company giveaways, while gas prices soar.

And for tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.

The original maverick?

Or just more of the same?

I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

Cnn, what;s wrong with publishing my comments ?

Gloria Borger and brown Cambell swamped Joe on cnn today. McCain flip flops on all things. Yet all these people were talking over Joe. They wouldn't let him say a word even though the "hiden racist and republican" is "not for McCain" but will willingly lie about Barack Obama so forcefully that i thought they were going to fight on cnn.

I hope people will believe McCain when they hear his own words. If they don't want more of the same, Obama is the man we should elect as POTUS!

This ad rocks - we need more of them .... we have to highlight the Bush-McCain linkage ... and point out Obama's solution plans (I do not want the Obama ads to be whiner ads like McCain's ..)

I did not think McCain could sink lower than Bush. But he has. He said he would not run attack ads. But, I guess he has decided that is the only way he is going to win. i guess I just don't understand people who think that lying is ok to get what you want. I watched McCain tell a group that Obama would raise their taxes if they made over $32,000 a year. That is a down right lie. Obama has always said $250,000 a year. But McCain wants to scare people into voting for him. On a lighter note. Has anyone seen the web ad by Paris Hilton? It is HOT!!!

The media is only interested in a story that plays....

McCain's voting record on energy related issues is horrible.
The media doesn't highlight it because they have decided that a close, drama-filled race means better ratings. Hence 72% negative coverage for Barack Obama...

    One question:

Are you better off than you were 8 years ago?

Sen. Obama hit the nail on the head about the ignorance. McCain should try to find solutions to the problems instead of making jokes. I guess when your intelligence does not come close to your opponent's then jokes are all you have. As far as the comment about the situation with the schools in Illinois, you should know that no educational system is perfect. Anything we do as humans will not be perfect. Do you do everything perfect? No you don't. Nobody does everything perfect. Sen. Obama is no different. Don't hate on him because he is the best candidate for the job. McCain is not in the same league with Obama and everybody knows it.

    OMG what a moron………….

Welcome to the Third World America. This is the promise of the media created false Messiah .

This imposter is clueless, can't hold a position more than 24 hours, is completely unqualified to lead even a McDonald franchise and hangs out with scum like Wright, Farrakahn, Ayers, Ludacris and Rezko.
He has stated he wished he could rid himself of his "white blood" (read his writings if you dare) and will be eaten alive by the enemies of America. His child-like views on foriegn policy and the economy ensure our descent into also-ran status.

Great job DNC of "selecting" your candidate over the objection of Michigan, Florida and the will of 18 million Billary voters. Another brilliant strategic plan by Howard (Yeehaww) Dean and the DNC.

It was great to be on top for so long. Liberals, get ready for a wake up call if this Manchurian candidate gets in…..

Vote McCain or join the insane………….

Marie of California is a maniac. Hillary lost, in case you didn't notice! She is no longer in the race. You can vote for her in 2012 if she decides to run after Obama's second term, of course. In the mean time, stop hating!

    Dear Florida Democrats,

Today is a proud day for all of us who fought so hard to ensure Floridians votes are fully counted.

Just minutes ago, Sen. Barack Obama sent a letter to the DNC credentials committee urging them to restore the full vote of the Michigan and Florida Delegations, proving his commitment to uniting the party and ending the uncertainty surrounding the process.

With Florida's economy in recession for the first time in 16 years, our state leading the nation in job loss, and we are number two in foreclosures, Floridians in every corner of our state are excited to elect Barack Obama and other Democrats this fall to bring change to Washington and Florida. The people of Florida know Barack Obama and other Democrats will rebuild our economy, create good jobs, and lower gas prices and homeowners insurance rates.

I want to thank Barack Obama, the Florida Congressional Delegation, the Democrats in our Legislature, and voters across Florida for fighting to have our votes count. This is a proud day for all of us.

    Sincerely,

    Karen Thurman

    Congresswoman Karen L. Thurman
    Chair, Florida Democratic Party
Every person who will vote in November should have read this. I am so disgusted with the Democratic Paraty this year that I will vote for McCain. Mr. Obama has sunk to a new low with this stunt. In June I watched as the DNC Rules Committee backed him up by not seating Florida & Michigan in Full so that Hillary Clinton did not have enough delegates to overtake him to win the nomination. Now he wants to make it seem that he is doing us all a favor by asking to have everyone seated in full after the fact. I wish I could sue the DNC over this. Every Floridian and Michiganite was cheated out of their vote because of Obama's tactics and now is not the time to come running to us for our votes. You need us and we will not be there for a liar, cheat and crook. If the news stations such as MSNBC, FOX and CNN got hold of this letter do you think that they would put it on their newscast? I don't think so. They have already declared that Obama is the winner in November and will be the next president. If the rest of the country knew about this disgusting ploy on the part of the DNC and Obama they would change their minds about voting for him I am sure.

So, Obama voted with his nutbag pals most of the time. The most liberal legislator in Congress. He's got nothing and done nothing and won't do anything except flap is lips and those car door ears.
