New Obama ad takes aim at McCain's positive spot

,

(CNN)—Barack Obama's campaign responded to John McCain's first positive ad of the past several days– an ad that emphasized his independent reputation –with a new spot Tuesday that looked to tie the Arizona senator to President Bush.

Obama’s 30 second spot called “Original,” uses part of McCain’s ad “broken” also released Tuesday, where the announcer calls McCain “the original maverick,” and then paints the word “really?” across the screen.

The ad flashes to a video clip of McCain in May of 2003 saying he and President Bush are lockstep on most issues.

“The president and I agree on most issues. There was a recent study that showed that I voted with the president over ninety percent of the time…” McCain says in Obama’s ad.

The ad continues on by asking the viewer if McCain is in fact the “original maverick? Or just more of the same?”

Full script after the jump

“Original”

:30 for TV

MCCAIN AD:
He’s the original maverick.

SILENT SUPER:
Really?

MCCAIN:

The president and I agree on most issues. There was a recent study that showed that I voted with the president over ninety percent of the time…

VO:

John McCain supports Bush’s tax cuts for millionaires, but nothing for a hundred million households.

He’s for billions in new oil company giveaways, while gas prices soar.

And for tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas.

The original maverick?

Or just more of the same?

I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.

    BULL, Obama!

McCain proposes tax cuts for ALL corporations. Hey, Obamabots - want a job or keep the one you have? When's the last time the company YOU work for did NOT re-invest their profits in growth - which benefits YOU? When's the last time you checked your 401(k) and found certain stocks thrive - because those companies re-invested their profits for product improvement or new products in order to stay competitve?

Go ahead, tax corporations to kingdom-come - and watch your jobs disappear permanently.

And by the way, those energy companies you put down for "not drilling on leases they currently hold": Not all such leased land produces oil. And. . . current regulations already stipulate that these energy companies MUST relinquish their lease after TEN years of no drilling/producing.

But I know this is WAY over your head, Obamabots! You want SOMETHING FOR NOTHING - and Obama promises you plenty of that!

"How come whenever CNN writes about a McCain ad it is always "this negative ad" but Obama's ads are never "negative" even when attacking."

Because many McCain claims are lies or distortions.
Obama instead is basing his attacks on facts and on what McCain said.

The conservative Republicans don't even know how to save on the gas – since they are all so filthy rich – look at the contract Rush Limbaugh got for his talk show and the kind of money Hannity makes. So how would they even know how to save money by inflating your tyres!!!! Somebody should do something for them to stop speaking trash!!!

Mc Same-Bush. Same old ideas that have all been a failure.

Grumpy Mc Same-Bush's strategy is to continue doing what Bush has been doing over the past eight years (failed policies) and hope that the results will somehow be miraculously different – what a vision or lack thereof?

McCain is in lock step with big oil and we know that by the amount of money that has appeared in his coffers in the last few weeks. That is bad news for "regular" Americans...no more Republicans. Vote Democrat this year to keep America safe.

"Hillary Clinton to campaign for Obama"
    --------------

If Hillary Clinton does ANYTHING OTHER than pay Obama lip-service - which she HAS to do to keep the corrupt DNC happy - I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR HER AGAIN! EVER! And I will NEVER again contribute to Bill Clinton's foundation - and I have contributed plenty in the past!

Come on, Clintons - you don't have to support a liar and cheat. YOU have proven yourselves over and over as people of substance - and YOU KNOW THAT OBAMA IS NOTHING MORE THAN A FAIRLY TALE (I MEAN . . NIGHTMARE)!

I am waiting for the debates, with great anticipation. It should be very interesting to see how McSame will answer all those awful truths about his abysmal voting record, and how much he actually agrees with the worst president in this country's history.

Thank you Linda! I DEFINITELY DO NOT WANT A NUCLEAR PLANT ANYWERE NEAR WHERE I AND MY FAMILY RESIDE! And, I will never forget 3 mile island, nor will I forget that the US Navy just recently reported a nuclear sepage aboard one of the ships which is about the size of a 5lb bag of flour, which in my opinion is a significant amount. Once nuclear waste seeps out, guess where it goes? Then, where will the nuclear waste be stored; we're still finding places to store the nuclear waste we already have. As a tiny part of his comprehensive energy plan, Senator Obama has said he would consider it, but will tap all of the other resources he has put forth first. Senator Obama is thnking of us, his children and family and the future of America.

Brandon, WE WON'T EVEN GO THERE ABOUT THE STATE OF AFFAIRS IN THE STATE OF ARIZONA! I'm sure it's perfect since McCain is the Senator of that state, if that your thinking? Yeah, I thought not. As always Brandon, I will you maturity, as soon as you reach it.

MCCAIN wants to give people making over $3 million a year the biggest tax cut of all. Go to the Tax Policy Center to read their new report. CNN reporters don't know about this apparently. it actually has to do with substance rather than hype.

Spot on Linda! I don't want a nuclear power plant in my city either. Senator Obama's plan calls for some consideration to nuclear energy after all other measures have been explored. And, I don't think anyone can forget 3 mile island, I know I can't!

I don't see anything positive about McStupid. He isn't a maverick by any stretch of the imagination, he can't utter a coherant statement without fumbling with his words. He can't even get the words "four dollar a gallon" out of his mouth in front of 50,000 bikers in Sturgis for Gods sake! He has agreed with Bush on everything and will force this country to endure God knows how many more years in Iraq/and or Afghanistan. He's a joke and I hope the untelligent people in this country wake up before November and vote for Obama. He won't walk in lock step with anyone.

Just waiting for the November elections.

I am writing in Hillary Clinton in honor of all the young Obama supporters who trashed her during the primaries and also in honor of Obama's attempts at stopping the primary process before all states had voted.

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the
Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the
General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically
    Controlled House and Senate..

McCain and Bush remind me of the Newhart show regulars I'm Darryl and this is my brother Darryl. Yup: McCain and Bush are Darryl and Darryl.

Linda I totally agree with you. If McCain wants to endanger the country with nuclear power plants, then let's turn Arizona into the power hub for the entire country. Fill the entire state with nuclear power plants and let them keep their nuclear waste (in perpetuity) because I don't want any of that radioactive stuff driven through my neighborhood.

Saying McCain is another Bush is like saying Obama is another JFK. Both are far, far, far from reality.

McCain can't sink as low as Bush, while Obama could never ascend to the greatness of JFK, no matter how hard he tried. In fact, he wouldn't even be good enough to shine JFK's shoes!

Instead, Obama is a Far Left extremist mushball like Jimmy Carter….and we don't need a second Carter term in the presidency. The first one was disastrous enough!

I'll vote Democrat again when the party gives me someone I can vote for……but……in the meantime……

    If not Hillary, then McCain!

So much for change. Obama wouldn't know change if it bit him in the butt. All he does is preach the same Democratic BS. The only difference is that he uses bigger words. If he can't fix the schools in his home state than I shutter to think about what he would do to the country. At least President Bush doesn't want to take away our rights according to our Constitution. Obama wants to burn the Constitution, especially the 2nd amendment. He can't just pick apart the Constitution, (keep the parts he likes and take away the parts he doesn't like)
    -------------------------------

You "shutter" to think about what he would do to the country?..sounds like you need to go BACK to school. It's "SHUDDER", not "shutter"..lord.. you're the backwoods, inbred type that put Bush into power, I can tell by your lack of intelligence in your post..as for the Constitution, are you f@cking KIDDING ME?? Have you forgotten what Bush and his maggots have done to the Constitution? Go back to your pickup truck and make love to your mutt "sport" for a while will ya?

It's hard to believe some of OBAMA's mentality calling JOHN McCAIN ignorant. First of all, YES inflated tires can help on gas mileage. Driving at 40-milers PHR also can help. Letting your car coast down a will help. Never stop and start driving again through cities just keep your foot to the petal and drive 40-miles-hour right on through this will help. BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CAN NOT SEE THAT IT IS AN ECONOMIC ENERGY PLAN. BUT THEN I'M NOT A SENATOR FROM IL. WITH ABOUT SIX MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE ON THE HILL. PLEASE DEAR LORD COME TO OUR AID BECAUSE US STUPID AMERICANS DON'T HAVE ENOUGH GUMPTION TO HELP OURSELVES. I keep waiting for OBAMA to go to tap dancing after one of his speeches on what he has planned for America.
