Obama teases McCain on drilling

Obama teased McCain on drilling Tuesday.
Obama teased McCain on drilling Tuesday.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (CNN) –- Barack Obama continued to slam John McCain’s energy policy Tuesday, attacking his opponent’s focus on oil drilling and mocking his Monday comments that “we need to drill here, and we need to drill now.”

Watch: Obama teases McCain

“Instead of offering a real plan to lower gas prices, the only energy plan that he's really promoting is more drilling,” Obama told supporters at a town hall meeting in Ohio, on the second day of a week of energy-themed events. “That's what he talked about yesterday. I want to drill here. I want to drill now. I don't know where he was standing. I think he was in a building somewhere.”

CNN Election Center: Where do the candidates stand on energy policy?

“This plan will not lower prices today, it won't lower prices during the next administration,” Obama continued. “The truth is we wouldn't see a drop of oil from John McCain's plan for at least seven years.”

Though Obama supported last week’s proposed “Gang of Ten” bi-partisan energy plan that includes an element of off-shore drilling, the Illinois senator has continued to rail against it and McCain and his campaign have been sure to remind voters. A recent CNN/Opinon research poll showed 69 percent of Americans support off-shore drilling.

The McCain campaign quickly fired back. “While Americans are hurting, Barack Obama is opposed to off-shore drilling, and is also opposed to admitting that he voted for the same corporate giveaways for Big Oil that he’s campaigning against today,” wrote McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds. “It underscores that Barack Obama isn’t being straightforward with voters and has the bad judgment Americans can’t afford right now.”

Obama outlined the energy proposals he put forward in a major speech Monday, including the ambitious goal of eliminating imports of oil from the Middle East and Venezuela within ten years.

“I know that there's going to be all kinds of discussion,” said Obama. “John McCain wants to talk about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. That's his idea of a really relevant campaign. But I don't have time to deal with that mess.”

“We can watch helplessly as the price of gas rises and falls because of some foreign crisis we've got no control over," he added, "and uncover every single barrel of oil buried beneath John McCain's feet only to realize we don't have enough for a few years much less for a century.”

I guess McCain would be more sympathetic, as Dumbama wants to STEAL from other companies and people and REDISTRIBUTE it. Dumbama is as clueless as most Democrats.

No Bama in our Whitehouse. Oil and Arab money has been coming into Obama's campaign since the primaries. Stop the flow of Oil money into the U.S. and stop the Radical Islam leaders from taking over our Country. Stop Obama. Vote McCain, An American first, last and always.

I'm so glad I'm no longer a Democrat! I was blind all my life, I guess; but Flip-Flop Man Obama, the Stupid DNC, Useless Nancy, Disenfranchizing Howard, Judas Richardson, and all the rest of the gang of idiots have finally opened my eyes. The only Democrats that are worthwhile are Hillary and Bill.

I am now, for the first time in my life, REALLY proud to be an Independent! McCain has my vote in '08 so I can vote for Hillary in '12.

"Flip-flop" has become the new "F" word. Since when is modifying one's position after new information has come to light that can make your plan even better become a bad thing? If Obama held fast to his positions, all you haters would call him rigid and inflexible. He can't win with the haters, but it's no matter, since he is winning with more American people than McTRANQUILIZER...listen to a speech for goodness' sake! We need a president who can energize us with a message of hope! Barack Obama has proven that he can take the best information from different sources and synthesize it into a position that is right for this country. Life is not stagnant, people...situations change and we need a leader who can think on his feet.
    OBAMA/BIDEN '08 & '12 YES WE CAN!!

McShame is the spitting image of GW. He hugs and kisses this moron (GW) and thinks all will be well when he gets to office. He'll just keep the same old stupid Bush policies, and go to war. He's too stupid and self serving to really pay attention to the economy, unless it involves the big oil companies, his BFFs.

And Americans lap that up and think John McCain, true American, a man of the people. This man of the people has millions of dollars, and a wife who goes on a month's shopping spree and spends 750,000. dollars. That's more than most houses in American.

Earth to Americans: John McSame is not your friend. He's in bed with big oil and you pesky Americans are just his next ticket to another hobby, like the presidency. Plus, he's and idiot.

Oil is in almost every material we use. There is no way in the next 10 years we will just not need oil. It's easy to say that we no longer need oil and can use alternate resources. Until you look into the fact that oil effects almost everything. Taxing oil companies profits will make oil prices skyrocket while at the same time decreasing the supply of oil (windfall profits tax on oil has been tried – see Carter administration). Not only that but it will also hurt anyone with a 401k. McCain has said he wants to use every available energy technology to help solve our problem. We may not see a drop of oil for several years, however, getting completely off of oil will not happen no matter what for at least the next few decades. If drilling oil is so bad, perhaps we should just stop buying it from other countries and make them stop drilling, we will see how long America will survive then.

If Obama thinks he impressed someone by reciting the Pledge of Alligiance, he can think again. How about taking the flag off his plane and replacing it with that tacky symbol, whatever it is supposed to be. Idiot, not patriotic. Is he ashamed of the flag?

Of course Obama flip flops again. Now he is for drilling doesn't this jerk have any real issues that he doesn't change his mind.

Obama is the poster boy for flipping.

Obama is a risky candidate with no core values.

I have to admit, Sen. Obama's teasing was FUNNY. Old Man McCain was just walking around in circles saying we'll drill here and there today.. It WAS very funny watching this OLD MAN walk around with his stiff self talking we'll "drill here", etc. Obama made a good point.

This is EXACTLY the problem with John McCain. His speeches are so BORING and LACK any level of motivation. Most of the time he stands at the podium and reads the teleproctor, or his reading off a written sheet. He's so robotic and stark. Ugh. Can you imagine him as our President? He would put all the world leaders to SLEEP. I know if I was a World Leader I would be rooting for Obama. I feel I have more in common with him and he seems to be Charismatic and brings savvy diplomacy to the table, PLUS he looks 200% better than OLD MAN McCAIN!!! Bottom line..

Obama’s actions and thoughts are all disconnected.

    Another examples…

Kerry argues McCain is making Barack Obama scary and then right after that Kerry says that McCain’s policy is “dangerous” for America.
Daschle argues McCain should engage in real debate.
Other Obama supporter says that the American people don’t want to see a fight (like real debate?).

Plus other dignitaries, and vetoes and meetings and guess what the military!!
He is keeping college students in school during an adjusting economics. Then you do not give college students or educated graduates and the average worker and American Citizen their due credit of intelligence.
He has a full Administration, you do not. Get it! College, Trade School, Graduates, High School, Retirees, Home Makers and little girls and boys get it. Then they paid attention in school and did all their requirements unlike the sock that attended Harvard? In your mouth, and from it nasty nasty stuff!!!! Put your foot in it!!!! All eligible citizens where ever you may be, register and Vote. Republican! I am a proud American Citizen! Tell a Friend!

Let's get real, as soon as we announce we are going to expand drilling here in the US, oil prices will come down and gas prices will follow. Obama is clueless. I listened to him answer questions at his toen hall in Ohio today. He was totally skirting questions he was asked. I woman asked how he would fix our education system. He said we should fix "no chlid left behind" but failed to explain how he would fix it. He said we should pay teachers more but didn't say how he would do that; where would the money come from? He said we should create more extracuricular activities for students but didn't say what or how. Total skate. He talks about where we need to be but fails to explain how we would get there.

Has McCain found the sites and money to build these nuclear plants? Has he foubd sites to "burt" the toxic nuclear waste?

For those of you saying Obama has no plan, go to his website, or listen to T Boone pickens who finds his plan interesting. Can't get anymore red Republican endorsement than that!

ALTHOUGH I DONT AGREE WITH OFFSHORE DRILLING AT ALL. ITS NOT THE ANSWER, BUT MCCAIN OFFERED OTHER ALTERNATIVES TOO. NO JUST OFFSHORE DRILLING? OBAMA HASNT OFFERED MUCH EXCEPT WHAT HILARY HAS SUGGESTED ALL ALONG. I AM GETTING TIRED OF HEARING HILARY'S IDEAS THROWN OUT BY OBAMA LIKE THEY WERE HIS OWN. PEOPLE NEED TO LOOK BACK AT SOME OF THE DEBATES AND SEE HE HAD NOTHING TO OFFER THEN AND HAS NOTHING NOW. EXCEPT WHAT HE CAN STEAL FROM OTHER CANDIDATES.
