Sen. Clinton will campaign for her former rival in two states this month, according to the Obama campaign.

(CNN) – Senator Hillary Clinton spent Thursday in New York on Senate business, but she couldn’t escape questions about the vice presidential search.

The prospect of Clinton joining the ticket remains the subject of much speculation, as even as some believe her odds of being chosen may have diminished in recent weeks. Reacting to reporters her name may not top Obama's VP list, Clinton told reporters “I’ve consistently said I’m very happy being a senator for New York. I love my work. I love representing the people of New York.”

“[T]his is a very personal decision for Senator Obama and I have no inside information as to how he is proceeding with his decision,” she added. “I'm out there supporting him, doing everything I can to make sure he gets elected and I will do same for whatever ticket there is.”

Asked if she would accept the job if it were offered to her, Clinton did not rule out the possibility. “I will do whatever I can or whatever I’m asked,” she said, “but I’m happy doing what I’m doing.”

Clinton was in Yonkers, New York for a family and caregivers event.

I don't really care who he picks or what she thinks. I will not vote for this man no matter who he picks. I think that it is pretty disgusting that she is even helping this man much less the democrat leadership that betrayed her.

The ticket needs HIllary on it if we want to have a true chance of winning in November. It is incredulous that given the current state of affairs that the US is in, there remains a doubt as to wether the Democrats can actually take back the white house! From the failing economy, lending crisis, failed wars and lost lives to the thousands of Katrina victims who remain displaced, there should be no doubt in our minds that things need to change for the better and quickly! However, Barack Obama, when it is all said and done, cannot take on the responsibility of Commander in Chief. He has no experience to stand up with. He is a Junior Senator and has spent more than half of that time campaigning for President. He has experience on the state level, but that does not amount to ability to run the most powerful Country (or so it was once) in the world. He has awesome potential, I loved his speech at the '04 convention, but the gift of oration does not a President make. I hope Barack can swallow some pride, see through the glitter and grit his teeth and make that phone call that will save us from ourselves. He should call Hillary, call a press conference and announce to McCain and the world that he understands just how important it is to bring back strength and honor to the White House. We can win if Barack makes the right decision. At this point in the election year, he should be so farther ahead in the polls and he is not, if he cannot see this a sign of danger, then he truly does not deserve our trust in him. Just my opinion, but I believe my thoughts are shared by plenty of the 18 million plus supporters. Obama/Clinton 2008 is the only way for our lives to start to slowly improve.

Seminole32   August 6th, 2008 11:33 pm ET

HIllary is not needed. All presidential elections are close, so get over this "WAY TO EARLY to be Polling" polling. If Hillary was not so divisive, Barack could have chosen her, but not now. Not ever Hillary.

Just say no to the Clintons!

Sara   August 6th, 2008 11:31 pm ET

Without Clinton, Obama cannot win. The question is Obama too stupid and arrogant to choice Hillary as VP? The proof is in the pudding.

sammy60   August 6th, 2008 11:27 pm ET

Liar, liar. Liar, Hillary I haven't been so angry with you until now. You are campaining for your self, no Sen. Obama. What you are doing is hurting the democratic party. John McCain will win if you continue your madness. Let it go, let it go. Be careful of the ditch you dig for Obama , you just might fall in it your self.

If Obama and the DNC truly want to win this election then they will pick Hillary as the VP.

However, if Obama let's his ego and his insecurity get in the way and decides not to pick Hillary then we ….the Democrats are going to lose this election.

To The Obama Supporters

When the Superdelegates vote for Hillary to win the nomination, are you voting for Hillary or Mccain?

Kris from AZ   August 6th, 2008 11:15 pm ET

If Clinton was supporting Obama she would be out more often to support Obama. Thanks for all that you are doing Hillary.. Thanks for nothing you ego driven maniac that has poeple fooled and now voting for republicans. Hillarmaniacs are brainless because they are now dropping democrat values. Pumas..Hillary supporters voting republican if our kids are still in Iraq because you voted MCcain. I am blaming YOU. Thanks

I've said it before and I'll say it again. WE NEED HIL ON THE SUPREME COURT. THINK PEOPLE! We need her to clean up this Guantanamo mess (to square off w/ Scalia, Alito and Thomas) I mean she can take these guys with one arm tied behind her back.

Kill the sour grapes and lets play this the way we can win not just the Election, but the day after. After all in politics, someone gets thrown under the bus, is this new? She's a big girl (tough as nails), but I think strategic placement of specific skill-sets is crucial to fate of the U.S. as we know it.

Europe has $8 a gallon gas (imagine that) Everyone needs to play their part this time around. We cannot go down the same road we went down in 2000, we simply cannot afford it.

Hillary should either be on the Supreme Court or on the Cabinet in a newly created post where she takes the lead and gets us back on our feet. Seriously.

Thanks "God" I thought I was the only voter going crazy I am sick of hearing or seeing Senator Obama. Senator Obama ego is so big now that the only thing he has done is to ensure that he will not win in Novemeber 2008. Who is to blame for this the Dems Super Delegates. Remember Senator Obama was only put over the top by the Super Delegates. Now when he looses the Super Delegates will have nobody to blame but their own vote for Senator Obama over Senator Clinton. This will mean another four hard years for the American worker.

Clinton Supporter   August 6th, 2008 10:56 pm ET

And New York loves you, Hillary. For starters, unlike a lot of senators in other states, you and Schumer actually SHOW UP, and you don't think that "Upstate New York" is Westchester!

You've helped New Yorkers so much, and in your role as Senator there is absolutely nothing you, or Schumer for that matter, can do about the state government's incurable penchant for overspending.

If we can't have you as President this time, we are thrilled and proud to have you as the Junior Senator from New York!

We also love and admire Charles Schumer. We know him, and better yet, he knows us. No state has a better team representing them.

Timber (ex dem)   August 6th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

So glad they are going to march in Denver! The DNC cannot be allowed to get away with what they did. They made up their owns rules as they went along and shoved Obama down our throats. I think they made a big mistake and the dems will lose as a result. We know who to blame in November.

B J   August 6th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

DNC should make up its mind to win election and to do so ,the only way out is that "Hillary Clinton is the " V P " candidate.

Tony Carter..SC   August 6th, 2008 10:47 pm ET

Sue in MI   August 6th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Sherry,
I don't think that, truthfully, you can blame everything on Clinton. She was not treated fairly; she was bullied by the guys in the early debates, and when she (1) stood up for herself, or (2) behaved like the woman she is, she was lambasted by the press and eventually, other Democrats. She is far and away the smartest, most reasonable, most experienced person still in the campaign, and if he does not put her on the ticket, I'm afraid that Obama may lose. He is making some dumb comments, changing his mind often, and looking foolish (and that's compared to the doofus on the other side!) He definitely needs her counsel, her wisdom, and her experience in dealing with the Republicans and the press.
Obama/Clinton '08

Sally   August 6th, 2008 10:39 pm ET

Why would she accept the VP job – she will be nominated by her party as she is the ONLY one who can win for the Dems. Obama's days are over, he's all talk and no action – Hillary offers a true alternative with her healthcare policies etc. The Dems KNOW they made a huge mistake and it's time to make it right. She WILL be the next President, if anyone has any common sense. He may be black, he may be thin, he may seem cool, but that's about it – he has NO substance, and Americans are tired of him – talk about over exposure.

Dayahka   August 6th, 2008 10:37 pm ET

Bill Clinton is all about Bill Clinton. Hillary Clinton is all about Hillary Clinton. Typical self-centered egomaniacs. And envious. And bitter. And vengeful. Hillary will say whatever she feels will stab Obama in the back without actually recommending that action.

I would rather see Bush as Obama's VP than Hillary. We need to push the Clintons out of the Democratic Party. The sooner we get rid of politicians like her and Bill the better off this party will be.

As for the "Pumas", I hope the Denver police have the guts to turn the water cannons on that group of protesters. Get over it ladies. Your choice for President was the wrong person at the wrong time. This poll hits the nail right on the head; obama has been give to much love and adulation by the main stream media. They have saturated the airwaves with obamamania. Like with anything else the people will finally wise up to the charade that his campaign has ran. If the main stream media wanted credibility they would ask more questions about his background and not continuously cover it up as they have done. There is only one question in my mind, and it is not about obama. The question to me is who are all these dumb, guilt ridden whites that will vote for someone who I would think does not represent who they are? Don't they realize that this fraud called obama does not have their interest at heart? Don't they realize that if he is elected he will become the black president, one with socialist marxist ideology? Do they understand that there is grave danger in electing obama POTUS? Where did these idiots come from? They evidently have no clue to American history, or they would never be on here posting for him. They have no clue as to who obama is, just like the rest of America. As obama said, "I sat in that black racist church for over 20 years and never heard such rhetoric. rev wright, is my mentor." His judgement looks pretty failed to me. If you have the courage please tell me why does this not matter to you? Do you have any reasoning abilities, from what I see here I doubt it.

"If Obama waits too long… even Hillary will not be able to convince her supporters to go along with the ticket."

If Hillary had this kind of power, there wouldn't be an issue. She has said several times, publicly (look it up) that it is more important to elect a Democrat to the presidency, and that if her followers were thinking about voting for McCain, she couldn't disagree more with that decision.

If that's not enough to sway Hillary "supporters", then they can't be swayed, no matter if Hillary gets tapped now or not.

The totally funny part is — if Hillary's supporters want her to be a productive part of an Obama administration, then they need to get on board. If she can't bring her supporters to the ticket, what could she possibly offer an Obama administration?

Franky   August 6th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

You know, I feel bad for Hillary. Why?? Because in the end, she could either be blamed or not, even if she's not responsible for it. Is one thing when you leave with dignity and respect while at the same time perception is reality. She can't control them and you know what? If she even said something, her supporters won't believe her, I know they won't. They start believing that she wasn't like that before, she's a good person and mom, she respects people, etc. The sad part is Hillary is a good mom and person, even though her supporters don't even talk about it…

j gannon   August 6th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

It never ceases to amaze me that there are people out there that think Clinton was destructive to Obama and the party during the primary.

Hillary Clinton has devoted herself to serving this country. She has broad reaching appeal and tremendous support within the rank and file of the Democratic Party.

If you don't like her policy positions then you must really be a Republican at heart. If you don’t like her as a person then it's quite simple…. you don’t know her so any judgment is out of ignorance.

I was truly inspired by her candidacy and the prospects of voting for her for president. It’s been a long time since I was inspired by a democratic candidate. I am a democrat and will most likely hold my nose and vote democratic again this year… with a thought of what might have been

If Barak Obama were to ignore the 18 million voters who support (present tense) Clinton, and who want her to be the VP candidate, why should one believe he won't ignore the rest of us IF he were President? Arrogance and failure to listen to the populace are bad attributes in a leader, whether truly worthy of the title or self-proclaimed.

I am trying to get into this Obama thing and it just isn't happening.
I need to hear decisive plans to fix the economy, the energy crisis, and of course, how and when our husbands, daughters, sons, parents, and friends are coming home from Iraq. I want Health care that I can afford, not what my employer cares to dish up that will save them money.
Hillary has the knowledge, intelligence, and drive necessary to lead our country through all of these tough times.
If Barack would get over his fear of not being the center of attention, and give credit where it is due, he would welcome this dynamic woman as his running mate.
We, as a nation, need what they both have to offer, I think. This campaign year has no room for petty jealousy.

Without Hillary on the ticket, I'm staying home.

I've heard many people say that it's still much better, especially for women, if Barack was elected over McCain.

Women have had little to no voice since the inception of this Union. Waiting four more years for Hillary (if she is not on the ticket) would in fact be a better investment than either one of these candidates (McCain because of his Republican platform, Obama because of his complete disregard and disrespect to Hillary and her causes.

In addition, it is time that a woman be giving a chance to run this country (or, at the very least, be the VP with a greater say). Men have run this country — recently — to the ground. It's time for real change, not rhetoric.

Hillary is a great Senator. She will hold much power in the Senate in years to come.

But in order for that to happen, we'll have to get rid of Pelosi and Reid. Neither one of those two will give her half a chance to shine.

Independant Thinker   August 6th, 2008 9:47 pm ET

Andrew   August 6th, 2008 9:46 pm ET

The vitriol still spewed by Obama supporters toward Senator Clinton is amazing. Reading the comments posted about the "18 million voices march," party unity seems like a joke, and it's not all coming from the 18 million voices you might think. It seems as if former Hillary supporters are welcome to vote for Obama, as long as they stfu and sit down. There is a sense they aren't wanted, or needed for that matter, which is a sure way to hand McCain the white House.

Ron Nebraska   August 6th, 2008 9:44 pm ET

Why isn't CNN covering the story about the white house forcing the CIA to forge documents justifying the Iraq invasion? Perhaps more in depth reporting of the major crimes of this administration would result in a groundswell call for justice by the american people. DO YOUR JOB CNN!!!!!!!

I may be wrong here, so please correct me if need be, but wasn't it JOHN McCAIN THE MAVERICK WHO GOT ALL OF THE MEDIA'S ATTENTION IN HIS 2000 BID FOR THE WHITE HOUSE?

What is wrong with Barack getting the media's attention today? McCain has been in POLITICS FOR 26 YEARS, what else do you folks want to know about him? MAYBE THE MEDIA SHOULD BE GIVING HIM MORE COVERAGE BY HIGHLIGHTING HIS FAILURE TO DO ANYTHING FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DURING HIS 26 YEARS!

No to Hillary. I don't see Hillary on the ticket as VP. Obama does not need her. Polls show 75-80 % of Hillary supporters have allready crossed over to Obama. Plus Bill is a problem along with all the other baggage she brings.

Monti, MI   August 6th, 2008 9:31 pm ET

True is, with additional campaining from Sen. Clinton it would be much more easy for Se. Obama to win in November. However, whatever comes out the McCain campain is for most part crap. The scary part is, a lot of Americans believe it. What I don't get, how some of the Clinton supporter can possibly prefer to vote for another 4 years of same politics rather than for the democratic candidate, apparently just hoping that Clinton would easily win in 2012. If we continue the same politics for another 4 years there might be not much left to be president of.

Dan   August 6th, 2008 9:29 pm ET

Obama's supporters kept telling Hillary to concede back in May for the "Democratic Party Unity".

Now, when it comes time to pick a VP, Mr. Obama says "I want a candidate that is compatible that will support my policies, etc. etc". That clearly sounds pretty self serving and selfish to me. I think the Democratic Party leadership needs to wake up and slap Obama – he needs to realize that if he does not pick her as his VP choice, he will be going against the wishes and choice of 18 million voters.

scott winter haven   August 6th, 2008 9:28 pm ET

Hillary will tank Obama's campaign in the end. She has more on him than Karl Rove but was unable to use it in the primary because she would have been called a racist. Won't it be great to have a President that will hide behind the color of his skin everytime he is questioned. At least you Bush haters have never been held back from speaking your mind. Hillary will not be denied the chance to return to the scene of the crime.

JB illinois   August 6th, 2008 9:27 pm ET

Mr. Obama and the DNC should come to the reality that adding Senator Clinton to his ticket is the cream of the crop. We need every vote to will in November. She can give his ticket all the extra votes that will be needed to counter the GOP. Forget about the past and being overshadow by the Clintons and add her to your. This is just what this country needs today. Mr. Obama a smart fresh face and Mrs. Clinton, a VP that can help bring back the good old days with her experience. Both together will be unbeatable…….Please do not let pride stand in the way of good judgement and give John McCain a win in Nov., because that is just what is going to happen if she is not on the ticket.

That is why the Republicans did not want her on the ticket anyway.

Dylan from Minneapolis   August 6th, 2008 9:23 pm ET

As much as i would not like to see a Obama/Clinton, i would rather see that than McCain/anyone in the White House. If it's Clinton that he needs to win then so be it, problems need to be fixed, and they need to be fixed soon. I really don't think a good portion of Americans realize the severity of our situation in this country. None of us, including myself, have ever had to face losing our country…but I feel that it has come to that. If nothing is done soon, time is going to run out. We need to move America in the direction it's begging to go, I refuse to live in a future country where the bottom 98% is opressed by the top 2%…that's where we're headed…we need to wake up.

sharon   August 6th, 2008 9:21 pm ET

I'm not an American so have no dog in this race, but let me tell you…I've covered this election with interest for months and I,ve heard every debate and endless hours of speeches and talking points etc etc, I have come to the conclusion that the Democratic party, under the direction of Obama was the party to beat but because of Hillary and her self serving attitude and her inabilty to calm and lead PUMA (towards Obama),any chances of a Dem in the Whitehouse will go down in flame. A house divided can not stand . Obama is campaigning with all his heart against not just one opponent..but 2(McCain and Hillary+PUMA) The world is watching and shaking their heads at the futality of it all. It's become a huge joke.

Vig   August 6th, 2008 9:17 pm ET

Now we already seem to have come full circle in only several months – Obama is stalling out – why? Because Hillary nailed it in the primaries "where's the beef?" As the Peggy Lee song says, "is that all there is"? Unfortunately, the answer is yes. Obama is style – no substance. Combine this with his arrogance, inexperience and flip-flopping to score points and we have a loser. So, if the Democrats want to bring home the bacon in November, the delegates need to nominate Hillary and not Obama. She won the popular vote – she is and has always been the more substantive candidate, the leader.

The deal can be made. Caroline Kennedy is heading Obama's search committee. She is now interested in holding office like her famous father and uncles. Hillary gets the vp nomination, and if elected, Caroline Kennedy gets named by Gov. Paterson to replace her in the Senate. Hillary makes a statement saying, "I agreed to take the vp slot on the specific condition that Caroline Kennedy agrees to take my seat in the Senate, her Uncle Bobby's seat, if asked by the governor. New York gets one strong feminist senator replacing another"

Makes all the sense in the world doesn't it?

JOHN MCCAIN SHOULD SEND PARIS A BILL FOR ALL THE GOOD PRESS COVERAGE ETC., HE HAS GIVEN HER, THANKS TO HIS CELEBRITY AD! THE FREE ATTENTION, SHE HAS USED WELL! GO JOHN AND PARIS, THE ONES THAT DON'T LIKE IT ARE THE HUMORLESS, WHINERS WHO MISS THE POINT! ITS NOT ABOUT THE GIRLS, ITS DEPICTING AN EMPTYSUIT SUPER STAR OBAMA IMAGE, WHO NEEDS THAT IN THE WHITE HOUSE?

steve dumford, Scotts valley ca.   August 6th, 2008 9:05 pm ET

The Democratic leadership will go down when it's realized that they forced a know nothing , done nothing empty suit down our throats. Democrats will realize that Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Howard Dean and company are responsible for losing this election.

Wonder why the news media has been so quiet about the fact that Obama NOW wants to count ALL the delegates from Michigan and Florida.when he and his campaign and their lawyers did everything in their power to keep that from happening when it mattered.

Hillary is the real nominee and if Florida and Michigan had have fully counted and Pelosi and company hadn't pressured the super delegates she would be the nominee and would be way ahead of McCain at this point.

Don't campaign for this Prima Donna, Hillary. Take your fight to the convention and rid us of this arrogant fake.

Hilary, ask your supports not to march. If they want, they can give you a buck to pay off your debt.
By denoncing the march, you show loyaly to Obama. You may be flattere by this but you lost so does your supporters.
When every one was treating you like dirty, Obama tried so hard to lift
you and your name.
You have done enough devision in the primaries. Don't let this stupid

Stop this and show loyalty to Obama.

You know, in another article people complained about how the MSM over-emphasizes Obama and under-emphasizes McCain. I'd love to see the same poll about Clinton, and how people perceive media coverage of her.
Oh, but if it's about Clinton it MUST be HER self-centerdness, but if it's too much news about Obama the media is willing to admit it's at fault? Hypocrites!
Just look at today's tickers. Was Clinton in them because she called the media and told them to cover her? No! It's because the media can't stop talking about her.

The strongest candidate, Clinton, should be picking her VP. Obama
won the nominee by default. The flawed /Dem., system and the way Fl., and MI., were handled, unfairly favored the Rookie! With Hillary on the ticket, Obama wins, without her he can forget it! I've got news for the Party, Her supporters will not forgive and forget and end up voting for the misguided, deluded Obama! McCain sounds good compared to the Strawman and will have our vote in protest! We can't believe Obamas words; what he says and what he does are too different things! Beware, buyers remorse is pending. Ex Democrat

Even if Senator Obama does not pick Senator Clinton as his VP, you can bet she'll end up in a prestigious position in his administration should he win. Why so many feel that the VP slot is the only place she can distinguish herself is a mystery to me.

No Hilary   August 6th, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Change is not about electing Hilary.
She bad mouthed Obama during the primaries as such gave unneessary ammunition to the republicans.
She should stay in the senate only .

I'm a supporter of Sen. Obama, but I'm not going to pounce on or disrespect Sen. Clinton or her husband. She and he are savvy politicians and know it is time to support the Democratic ticket enthusiastically. No one is entitled to the Presidency, whether it be a former Vice President, First Lady or military veteran/POW. The country needs Sen. Obama's leadership and a new direction, and I'm convinced the Clintons will help bring that about.

Everyone but the wealthiest or dumbest Republican should be out making every effort to elect Barack Obama President of The United States of America.

Hillary of course is part of the puzzle of VP's but seeing the yellow bellied leadership in the Senate, I think she serves our nation best as Majority Leader in partnership with President Obama.

non white & non-black person   August 6th, 2008 8:34 pm ET

the only thing that matters is that Clinton is NOT on the ticket. I just don't want to worry that Barack's safety will be compromised with her as the VP.

Dan, TX   August 6th, 2008 8:34 pm ET

Clinton already supports Obama strongly. Didn't you all get Hillary's emails? As far as the election goes, it doesn't matter if Obama or McCain wins. If McCain wins it will be the fall of America into a second rate nation. If Obama wins, it will mean American can lead the world. Does anyone really care if America is great or not? I don't think so, or else Obama would be ahead by a lot more. McCain supporters don't love America, they are just trying to take advantage of the poor people who make less than $500,000 a year.

She can support him best in the Senate! We need all the congressional and senate support we can get. Hillary would have little or no impact as Vice President. The congress and Senate are the ones who write the bills. Not the President. Not the Vice President.
Unfortunately we have been at the mercy of a despotic, tyrannical President who vetoed everything that came before him from our Democratic representatives. By voting for McCain you are voting for 4 more years of tyranny.
Vote smart.
Vote Obama

I am glad that Obama decided not to pick Hillary. I don't think she would add to the ticket of defeat. Obama is a loser. Hillary is a winner.,.

I heard Obama decided to have a Muslim coordinator. I am sure many of his supporters are Muslim and that is okay. I think bam is a closet muslim himself. He quit his Christian Church and for what reason? Who knows? By the way, I just heard Bwana threw the new coordinator under the bus with his grandma.

BTW: Paris and obama are celebs without a portfolio. Both are famous for being famous for accomplishing nothing.

Obama is risky so is Paris; Obama has a funny name so does Paris; Obama sounds foreign, duh so does Paris.

Two birds of a feather if you ask me.

When we have a new president a miracle wil just blast forth and all will be better. Stop talking, start doing! That means youi REPORTERS!

Cynthia   August 6th, 2008 8:25 pm ET

If I were Senator Obama I would pick the best person that I feel that I could work with , trust, and someone whose ideas ran along the same lines as what I was running my campaign on. If it is Senator Clinton – fine and if I didn't feel that she offered me what I need to run a successful White House besides the votes to get in there I would pick someone else. Those Hilliary Democrats I'm sure are smart enough to choose a candidate based on their lifestyle and wallets.

Amanda   August 6th, 2008 8:21 pm ET

I used to not like the Clintons and I didn't know who Obama was, but that's all changed. I admire both Hillary and Obama. Whether or not she's his VP, a cabinet member, or remains a Senator, she will do great things in her career. There's no doubt to that.

People have said Obama has "damaged" the party…..how? by winning the nomination?

People say that if she's not on the ticket, they will vote for McCain. That's just lunacy. If you PUMA people vote for McCain and he wins, do you honestly that everyone from the other half of the party will fall in line and vote for her in 2012? You are the ones damaging this party. You will be the ones responsible for having a Republican president for years to come. Not Obama, Not the DNC, Not the Clintons….It will be YOU and you alone.

maryann   August 6th, 2008 8:20 pm ET

He needs her to win. She should accept if asked no way. She was treated awful by the democratic party so let those know it alls who did everything they could to get Obama in save him now. Superdelegates, this is your doing. Why is he not way ahead in the polls ? You were so sure he would trounce the republicans think again. Even if he does win it will not be the landslide the democratics were expecting. Your party is a joke and so is your unity talk. You deserve everything you get. As for Nancy Pelosi what a joke. Sure the Clintons have baggage but it is baggage everyone knows about and she still got 18 million votes. So for those dumb people saying she would not benefit him on the ticket , shake your heads. At least you know where she is coming from , can you say the same for Obama.

Rufus from NC   August 6th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

Would one of you PUMAs out there explain to me what the issues are with Hillary? I followed the primaries pretty closely and I honestly don't understand why you feel that she was subjected to such injustice, bias and hatred. I'm not trying to start a fight, but could you provide specific examples of when a fellow Democrat (of any significance) called her a bad name, etc., or when and where the Obama campaign used dirty tactics against her. I've looked at some of the PUMA websites, but I couldn't find any specifics. I know the blogs get nasty, but the only thing I recall that made the news was when a McCain supporter (female) referred to her as a b****.

Again, I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm honestly trying to understand why after 8 years of Bush/Cheney you would either not vote or support McCain.

Independent   August 6th, 2008 8:17 pm ET

I don't think He knows because he's not the one who will make that decision. DNC selected him to be their nominee so they can control him. DNC will select VP for him and they won't pick Hillary for President nor VP as you a She's tough fighter they can't control her.

Marge Hibbing Mn   August 6th, 2008 8:14 pm ET

The best thing for this country would be for obama to ask Clinton to be the VP. But everyone knows he is so self centered, egotistical and power mad he doesn't want anybody that would take a tiny tiny tiny bit of the spotlight off him. Jim Jones critics said it best, Jones did not want the change he preached he wanted POWER and that is what this egomaniac obama wants POWER AND MORE POWER.

Having Hillary as VP for Obama is like the neurosurgeon working for an intern. I hope she doesn't become VP, so she can stay unsullied when Obama runs the ship of state aground. He is an inexperienced lying hack who is being forced on us by the main stream media and the DNC. diana hess   August 6th, 2008 7:53 pm ET

Senator Clinton was not just in Yonkers, she was at Jawonio, a community service provider for people with disabilities and special needs and she was joined by Congresswoman Nita Lowey and Congressman Eliot Engel and caregivers representing themselves–as well as organizational representatives from the Alzheimers and AARP and Respite Coalitions.

I know the VP stakes are on high energy right now, but Senator Clinton's–Senate business was high stakes for these families and funding is much needed for respite care. Is it possible to do a parellel article, on the actual substantive reason for her visit to Jawonio in Yonkers?>
Thank you.

According to Senator Clinton–If caregivers stopped, just stopped today, caring for their loved ones, caring for their family members, with disabilities, or alzheimer''s or mental illness we would have to find $300 million dollars in care for the 50 million Americans in need. Where will we find the direct care workers, the nurses, the therapists, the support "team" to help them–

I think while the Senator is still center stage on the political front, today showed she is still on the front lines for children, families and their caregivers as our Senator and as the catalyst for funding the Lifespan Respite Care Act.

Thank you.

Why should Obama seek Hillary's help? I thought she is very divisive, anti-black, outdated, Washington insider, bagagges full, etc? Why is Obama not inviting grandma, "the worst speaker in history", Nancy Pelosi? Why not send Tim Kaine or Sebellius; Donna Brazille or Gloria Bolger and Jeff Cafferty or Roland Martin of CNN? Obama can also consider Chris Mathews of MSNBC?

Obama should learn from the experiences of the Gore 2000 and the anti-clinton movement. Win first. Choose Clinton for VP.

Whining Tommy Hussein in St. Louis   August 6th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

If Obama loses the election this fall – which is a pretty big IF even by itself – but if he loses, and polling data shows that it was the bitter, blindly hateful PUMA psychos who actually made the difference – another big IF – then I can guarantee you, there is no way in bloody hell I will vote for your Hillary come 2012. I won't be arrogant and try to speak for my whole state here like some people do, but keep in mind that Missouri is important.

I know the way you people think…that only African-Americans, 13% of the population, voted for Obama, but with some help from traitorous white people higher up such as Dean and Pelosi, he was "installed" as the nominee. This is the disgusting thinking that I have seen over and over again, every day in this Ticker. You hypocrites want to get attention as the "18 million" who voted for Hillary, but you want to completely ignore the 18 million who voted for Obama, and act as if only a few African-Americans voted for him. And yet you act all shocked and righteously indignant when you're accused of racism.

Just keep in this mind, if Hillary ever does run for president again: she gets nowhere without the 18 million plus who supported Obama in 2008.

I hate to state the obvious, but McCAIN brought Paris in the picture. She was minding her own business, and her parents even supported McCain. Now his supporters have the nerve to talk about her because she didn't follow the GOP script, and defended herself? She didn't keep still like that bimbo Cindy Lou when her husband offered her up to a raunchy beauty contest.

Paris showed the world she has more brains than the brainless, idiot McCain who is wound up every morning and pointed in the right direction.

She's hedging… since she's not been given the attention she thought she deserved. There's nothing wrong with that, everybody miscalculates sometimes.

Regarding the Obama coverage vs McCain coverage… well "duh…" Obama needed the coverage, McCain did not. Honestly… a year ago, I didn't know who Barack Obama was. McCain's been around for so long, I don't need to see him on my tv at all, to know who he is and where he stands. This is like Geraldine Ferraro's way of thinking.. It's so unfair..Obama's so lucky cause he's black. Obama's so lucky cause he was unknown… gimme a break. He's just evening the playing field. How else would a fresh, smart, non-white guy get even in the polls if no body's heard of him? Viva la media coverage!

Obama can not win without you…

soon- the democratic party will be so damaged that he won't be able to win EVEN with you.

His Ego trumps the good of the party or the nation.

Obama lost the democratic party.

Does CNN try to create news, when there is a relative paucity of it out there? Do they hope to prey upon the public's weakness by overtly dramatizing eveything as if it is a reality show? So why is asking Hillary who the VP is going to be somehow news?
Try again CNN.

Hillary is no Ted Kennedy to spend years in the Senate. She needs to blossom, and to do so she needs to be put in the White House.

Still for Hill but now ONLY for Hill   August 6th, 2008 7:30 pm ET

Too bad… You might have saved him… going on too late to do any good now…

Obama will finally pick you when it is too late to restore party unity….

Just like fully seating all the delegates when it no longer matters.

Obama is running on EGO and his bandwagon is fueled by hot air.

Sherry, Atlanta   August 6th, 2008 7:29 pm ET

It would have been a 'Great Ticket', had Hillary not been so destructive!

Orange   August 6th, 2008 7:28 pm ET

At least we have you in the Senate if we cannot have you in the WH.
Keep up the good fight, Mrs. Clinton we recognise and appreciate your hard work and your efforts.

texas DEM   August 6th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

Hillary better be on the ticket.

If Hillary aint on that darn ticket, it'll sure bea shame.

RJ, CA   August 6th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

I love you, Hillary. You're paying just enough "lip service" to Obama to keep the corrupt DNC content. YOU DO NOT NEED a failure like Obama on your resume! Please don't accept the #2 spot. That would still leave Obama with the #1 spot — and that is still UNACCEPTABLE to millions of us. We know YOU are the REAL DEAL!

Jasmine, CA   August 6th, 2008 7:24 pm ET

DON'T ASK THAT WITCH, BARACK. DON'T GO DOWN THAT SLIPPERY CLINTON SLOPE. YOU'LL NEVER RETURN, THEY ARE TREACHEROUS.

Watch your back, please. She can't be trusted, she will throw her mother under the bus to be the president.

Bayou Joe   August 6th, 2008 7:22 pm ET

Yes, You do and you lie, lie, lie. Why settle for VP when you can be the candidate for President. At least you have a chance of winning. Remember in the General election there are no caucuses and we will not be intimidated.

Jim in GA   August 6th, 2008 7:22 pm ET

Hillary – DON'T DO IT. Obama is a sinking ship. I sailed off shore about 5 miles to where the oil platforms are and it went straight to the bottom. The drilling issue is going to hurt Obama and will be part of the reason he LOSES in November. It's amazing how the dems can ruin their chances in a year like this by nominating such an inexperienced narcisist.

Still for Hill in 2012

A Woman In California For Obama   August 6th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

These two definitely have this all mapped out. They are just not letting us in on it. The best thing ALL of us can do is keep out of it. Although I am still not in favor of her joining the ticket, I do think they have come to a mutual understanding (finally) and the outcome will be in BOTH their best interests. You can definitely count on that.

TheTruthHurts   August 6th, 2008 7:20 pm ET

I now feel sorry for her. She's stuck. She's got all these wonderful supporters who won't even help her pay the bills. They want to "March on Denver" and she'll be put in the position to tell them that their efforts are undermining the goals she believes in. Not fun!!

She knows she's not going to be VP, but everyone keeps ramming it down her throat when she'd rather focus elsewhere. I hope these Dems realize the stakes. Our country will be TOTALLY BANKRUPT and in debt to CHINA, RUSSIA, THE MIDDLE EAST if we let current policies continue. We will have no hope to stop the great extraction of wealth from the nation or the dispartiy of income within our borders.

We are so stuck in backbiting and negativity, the primary shareholders (the rich) will continue to rape the people of this land and get subsidized for the privilige.

Linda from Prescott AZ   August 6th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

Hillary is a great Senator. She will hold much power in the Senate in years to come.
