Obama was asked by a supporter if there was anything she could do to conserve in the meantime on her gas expense.

Senator Obama recommended a couple of scientific facts that could conserve on gas. Those facts were also previously stated by Cali's Gov. and Florida's former Gov.

McCain showed how stupid, ignorant and out of touch he is not to have known proper tire inflation, keeping windows close (aero dynamics) and reduced weight saves on gas. Yet he's ready for the job..........PLEASE

I do believe I joined the wrong party. I'm switching to the Republican party for one reason... Buffalo Chip Topless (sometimes bottomless) beauty shows. (And to think I thought those Republicans were wound tighter than a over wound clock). How little did I know! Yeah baby it looks like it is the Democrat party who are the stiff shirts with family values and all.

It truly scares me that the future of our democracy is resting in the hands of voters who are incapable understanding what is being implied by the tire gauge.

Suggesting McCain's support of inflating tires is a flip flop is completely out of line with reality. I hope it is partisan bias that is causing people to suggest that this is a flip flop and not lack of IQ.

Inflate tires = 3-4% savings or .12 per gallon -RIGHT NOW!
What's Involved- Personal responsibility

Drilling offshore =1.5-2% savings or .06 per gallon -IN 10 YEARS!
Half as much as the "joke" solution 10 years from now!
What's Involved- Taxpayer $$$$$$ and a decade of time
Amount of oil in Alaska= Enough for a little less than 1 year. If that oil is sold to Americans by the oil companies and not put on the world market

Obama's comprehensive energy plan is built on inflating your tires? Will he also be featuring "be sure to drink your milk" and "look both ways before crossing the road" as part of his comprehensive health care plans?

Don't tell the people what to do to deal with the problem, we can figure that out on our own. Get off your backside and endorse a policy that will actually fix the problem.

We aren't electing you as our mom or our first grade teacher. Apparently Obama's idea of "CHANGE" is "DO IT YOURSELVES BECAUSE WE ARENT GOING TO VOTE ON DRILLING THIS YEAR".

Come on CNN. McCain's point is that although everyone knows keeping your tires inflated is recommended (although it probably won't save the consumer very much), it is no substitute for an energy plan and it certainly won't provide much relief at the pump than increased drilling. We're not stupid CNN (at least I'm not).

I see you have an attention deficit problem. No one ever said it was the entirity of the Obama plan – except McCain – and you know he's a lyin' dog these days that wouldn't know the truth if it walked up and slapped him in the face. You fell for the gop tactic – aren't you proud? Next week McCain will have Obama's energy plan posted on his site as his plan – the McCain camp has no legitimate vision – they can mimic, they can ridicule, but the have no plan nor do they have capable leadership. The mccain campaign has become a joke – with the candidate being the biggest laugh.

Obama hit them good and hard on this yesterday. The repubs obviously enjoy their ignorance and want everyone to join in – but – not this year.

Will a decision to drill more today lower prices today? Yes. For the same reason that Obama's recent statements that indicated he would allow such a thing to happen (thank you o'mighty one) also resulted in a decrease in the price of oil.

When Obama says to inflate your tires what he really means is you have to do your part because you can't count on the congress doing anything before the election. Congress can't possibly allow a vote on the issue because almost every elected official will either vote for drilling or face the wrath of his constituency.

Remember, the core of Obama's comprehensive plan is still cap and trade. The entire purpose of cap and trade is to make the large scale production and use of energy more expensive so that the market curves will be adjusted such that demand is decreased, price is increased and alternative forms of energy such as solar and wind are not as economically unfeasable.

If we're paying$200 per kWh, the payback on a solar cell is much shorter, right?

Frank, you seriously have no clue what you are talking about. Experts agree that if everyone kept their tires inflated properly, we would save 292 MILLION barrels or oil per year. At even $120 a barrel, that's $35 BILLION dollars a year. It's equal to 15 days per year of our oil consumption. Savings of $35 BILLION is hardly lame or "low down on the totem pole." And that's just one proposal (which if you'd actually looked up the comments were being used to make the point that conservation and efficiency can do more than drilling ever will). Adopt Obama's proposals for more efficient vehicles, alternative energy investment, cutting down on market manipulation and speculation, and we will make a HUGE difference.

Or you can just continue to take pride in your ignorance.

If he hasn't said so multiple times; then he has been caught in yet another lie. It seems like when ever Sen. Obama makes a statement; the McCain campaign comes around and makes the same statement, but claims they said it first. How sad.
