Paris Hilton fires back at McCain's "Celeb" ad

CNN

Watch Paris Hilton’s message for McCain

(CNN) - Paris Hilton has fired back in response to presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain's "Celeb" ad comparing the 27-year-old heiress to Barack Obama.

The less-than-two-minute spot was paid for by the comedy video Web site, funnyordie.com. It features Hilton sprawling in a lounge chair in a swimsuit. The socialite mocks McCain's ad, saying, "I want America to know that I'm, like, totally ready to lead."

What are Hilton's thoughts on energy policy? She says her position is a "hybrid" of Obama and McCain's. "Energy crisis solved," the heiress declares.

Hilton, who's built a career out of being a celebrity, also reveals her pick for vice president and plans while in office. "I'm thinking Rihanna. I'll see you at the White House. Oh, and I might paint it pink. I hope that's cool with you guys," she says.

"I'm Paris Hilton and I approve this message because I think it's totally hot."

The McCain camp responded to Hilton's ad Tuesday. "It sounds like Paris Hilton supports John McCain's 'all of the above' approach to America's energy crisis – including both alternatives and drilling. Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan," says McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds.

Funny rebuttal. McCain was disrespectful to the Hiltons' daughter after they donated the maximum amount to his campaign. Not very presidential.

  4. Media darlings

This makes the point of how our country has degenerated into a cult culture of celebrity infatuation.

Were it NOT so... Obama would not have been able to RIDE Oprah's ans Caroline's coattails into the HEART of Americans.

He was unknown until they attached Super Star status to Obama and his unqualified, untested mad grab for power.

    Americans bought the HYPE.

  5. Same old politics... from BOTH SIDES

Do people on these comment pages actually listen to what both politicians actually say and see what they actually do? Or do you just repeat what the moveon.org e-mails state?

I question the intelligence of people leaving these comments.

This was funny. Well played Ms. Hilton.

Of course Senator Obama already said he was willing to compromise on off-shore drilling as long as it was a part of a comprehensive energy plan. It appear that Ms. Hilton was just reiterating Senator Obama's plan while again Senator McCain is a day late and a dollar short.

I feel bad for Republicans and McFoolish supporters. After watching this ad and seeing how much more intelligent talking Paris is compared to Mccain it must be dissapointing. The fact that Mccain made a pathetic decision and wasted money on a Paris Hilton ad makes me believe that McCain is not mentally capable and does not posess the sound judgement to make Financial and important decisions. It’s Obama for sure!!!

It is very stupid of McCain's camp to have started this fiasco comparing Obama to Hilton and Spears. Ms. Hilton is right in shooting back at McCain. Stick with the issues 'my friend'.

McCain would'nt recognize a good energy plan if it fell on him. After 26 years in the Senate, his plan consists of a gas tax holiday (I guess he abandoned that plan) and opening up coastal waters so oil companies can buy oil locally instead of paying to have shipped around the globe. So by the time the wrinkled white haired dude is long gone, we still have an energy crisis? We need a long term vision John, not a bandaid fix that sounds appealing to voters. Conservation and alternative sources are our only salvation in the long term. How long will this planet support human life?

what's funny is i really do believe allt he puma or paris/mccrack people are the same.
so sad that the same 2-3 people spend way to much time commenting under different names on the CNN board hoping to influence people.
the problem with that is people who are voting for Obama and has a distaste for McCrack can't be swayed.

So you keep posting your pathetic brainwashing pleas!

    OBAMA 08 or

  13. Truth hurts

Oprah and Caroline won- STOLE – the nomination for Obama by creating rock star appeal and giving Obama the full weight of THEIR rock star appeal to his otherwise invisible campaign.

IT IS ALL ABOUT MEDIA ATTENTION STUPID.

Obama exploited that attention and gets peeved when McCain reminds all of us of it.

McCain is RIGHT- Obama is a myth created by celebrities and advanced by an adoring and awed media.

I'd vote for Paris before I'd vote for ANY Republican. Even she's not as inept or greedy as them. McCain and the rest of the creepy old geezers have got to go. Time to throw the bums out!

  17. We're NOT "your friends"!!!

I love how McSame is trying to spin the ad their way, saying that she endorses their energy plan and not Obama's. NOTHING IN THAT AD WAS BACKING ANYONE'S PLAN OTHER THAN TO MOCK MCSAME. Repubs are idiots, enough said.

I really have to wonder how "intelligent" the McCain camp really is. They don't even know when they're being laughed at. It truly is sad.

  20. Dems are stuck with the fix they rigged

Obama dragged us into the celbrity circus by basing his campaign on Oprah and Caroline and Rap stars and Rock stars.

He uses free concerts as a means to get people to "flock" to HIS rallies- I think it is the lure of free beer and free rock stars that draws the Obama crowd.

The appeal of Obama is that he HAS linked himself and presented himself as a COOL basketball playing, rock video, you TUBE celebrity.

The youngsters have fallen for that hype.

McCane no longers needs Paris.... he has his own bleached blond celebrity.... his wife.

Yesterday, McCane offered his wife Cindy to 50,000 bikers as a contestant for their Buffalo Chip Queen... touting "what a great thing that would be... Cindy would be the First Lady and Buffalo Chip Queen."

The deal is she would need to pose partially nude with a banana. Yet another of McCane's attempts at "humor" given as usual out of ignorance.

Finally Paris Hilton has found her intellectual significant other ... Candidate John McCain.

Please Paris, go easy on him.

Note to Cindy McCain. Paris is prettier than you and has a lot more money than you. Be afraid ... be very afraid.

Isn't it grand what Obamamania has done to us.

HE presented himself as the cool celebrity American Idol.

    So McCain is right.

Anyone who doesn't buy into Paris, WILL also NOT buy into the media myth of Obama.
