Paris Hilton fires back at McCain's "Celeb" ad

CNN

Watch Paris Hilton’s message for McCain

(CNN) - Paris Hilton has fired back in response to presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain's "Celeb" ad comparing the 27-year-old heiress to Barack Obama.

The less-than-two-minute spot was paid for by the comedy video Web site, funnyordie.com. It features Hilton sprawling in a lounge chair in a swimsuit. The socialite mocks McCain's ad, saying, "I want America to know that I'm, like, totally ready to lead."

What are Hilton's thoughts on energy policy? She says her position is a "hybrid" of Obama and McCain's. "Energy crisis solved," the heiress declares.

Hilton, who's built a career out of being a celebrity, also reveals her pick for vice president and plans while in office. "I'm thinking Rihanna. I'll see you at the White House. Oh, and I might paint it pink. I hope that's cool with you guys," she says.

"I'm Paris Hilton and I approve this message because I think it's totally hot."

The McCain camp responded to Hilton's ad Tuesday. "It sounds like Paris Hilton supports John McCain's 'all of the above' approach to America's energy crisis – including both alternatives and drilling. Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan," says McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds.

What a joke this campaign has become. Americans should be ashamed of how John McCain dragged this election into the gutter. Where are the serious policy discussions? The fate of nations are at stake and yet all we see is this trash??

Again, an idiotic and untrue response from the lie machine that is the McCain campaign. CNN, why don't you call them out on their lies? Do you need Tina Fey and Rachel Dratch to make you feel inadequate again before you start to tell people how many lies and low end political schemes the McCain camp is using to try to win? Honestly, think about what you will say to yourself in ten years, and what you'll have to do to convince yourself it was right to sit out and not do your job to let the country know about McCain's blatant lies.

    Good for her.

PS. I would love to know who the "new media" geniuses are at CNN are who let this post go up on a (so-called) blog without an embedded video or even a link to the video.

Wake up, CNN. It's not 1994 anymore.

The real story is McCain volunteering his wife for the topless Miss Buffalo Chip contest. McCain is really strange. I don't understand how he could suggest that about his wife.

Given how Paris was mocked by John, it's worth noting she returned the mocking by calling McCain "that white-haired, wrinkly guy." I know you in the press like to protect JM but let's have a little honesty, eh?

Oh well, as said by the Obama campaign in response to the Paris ad: "Whatever."

"It sounds like Paris Hilton supports John McCain's 'all of the above' approach to America's energy crisis – including both alternatives and drilling."

How can anybody in their right mind say this after having spent days mocking the 'alternatives'. Again they're saying one thing (all of the above) while doing something completely different (none of the above but we will pump up the big company oil profits some more).

Give me a break! She was being sarcastic. She doesn't support any of McCain's plans. Is the McCain camp so desperate that they will deliberately ignore the heavy sarcasm and claim the support of Paris Hilton? And we are talking about the same Paris Hilton here, right? Totally hot. Not!

This response is kind of funny, but not funny enough to justify the absurdity of a presidential candidate injecting vapid partygirls into the forefront of the political debate in the first place. I ignore most non-political, non-science news because it's just celebrity nonsense, and now I can't get away from it even here... thanks, John McCain.

Paris Hilton demonstrates yet again why America hangs on her every word. But while it's expected to hear one of America's intellectual leading lights articulate such a clear and thoughtful energy plan, shouldn't we really be hearing it from the guys actually running for office?

If McCain had brought Paris Hilton with him to the Sturgis biker rally, he could have really made a hit; on the other hand, it might have cost him his beer-baroness wife.

    Interesting....

Not quite sure based on the description I'd call this firing back persay...

I've got a novel concept for all of the candidates: local, national, and congressional- Try using common sense and compromise. I know it's all about your constituants, but when a 27 year old celebrity comes up with the revelation that you as our 'leaders' can't seem to grasp...well...perhaps it's time for you guys to find new jobs.

On a completely different note, I'm curious..have the oil company's and supportors explained to the 67% of people who want off-shore drilling how they intend to pay for the $300M oil rigs? I'm sure they plan to just take it out of their profits. They wouldn't raise the price of oil to pay for them...Would they ?

Has the McCain campaign graduated from middle school yet?

Their continued sophomoric statements show how deeply envious they are of Barak Obama and what a sad, sad state they are indeed in.

Drilling for oil to help Oil Companies profit even more is a good energy plan?

McCain's campaign spokesman needs to learn how to listen, Hilton "supported" both plans (her opinion means nothing anyways)...Jesus, these guys are idiots.
