Obama said his time off should help ease “Obama fatigue” among voters.
Obama said his time off should help ease “Obama fatigue” among voters.

(CNN) — Barack Obama said Thursday that the controversy over how whether Hillary Clinton’s delegates would be able to vote for her at the Democratic convention in Denver was a media creation — and that he hopes his upcoming vacation helps cure any “Obama fatigue” among voters.

Watch: Obama on the Clintons

“There hasn't been controversy other than what you guys are projecting right now,” he told reporters. Obama described conversations between the two campaigns over convention planning as “seamless.” “It has not been a problem,” he said.

Asked whether he would be content if Clinton’s name were placed into nomination at the convention, he responded “I didn't say that. I said they are working it out, guys.”

Obama also said he hopes his week off to visit family in Hawaii will help address public dissatisfaction reflected in a Pew poll this week that revealed nearly half those surveyed feels they have heard too much news about the presumptive Democratic nominee.

"We are going to correct that this week, hopefully with your help," said Obama.

He pointed to the long primary season as one likely factor. "I can imagine that folks need a break from politics, and they didn't really get one like they normally do," said the Illinois senator. "I think that the majority of people have been fed a constant stream of political chatter."

He added, "I'm sure that having a couple weeks off and enjoying the Olympics is probably what the doctor ordered for everybody."

Obama is having problems and has to be on how he came to be the nominee…. Been selected by the DNC in the thinking that people were so fed up with the present adminitration that BO will just slide into the WH. He is having major problems and we will loose this one.

Hisinexperience and arrogance will doom him.

Party Friction is alive and well, and more so than the media will let on. Hillary Supporters are all outraged, and are not going to be silenced…………..period.

Not to your fault, Obama - I'm sure you'd like a break yourself. But I'm sure the media will be reporting your every bowel movement…they've already discussed your workout routine and your hair color.

Al   August 7th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

No party friction? In his dreams.

The democrats have lost millions of Hillary supporters who WILL NOT fall in line behind this fake.

Not a Move-on Moron   August 7th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

Wow, Obama must actually be gaining experience as a politician.

He's flat-out lying to the public now.

In addition, he is taking a vacation to join all the other democrats who apparently do not care about lowering gas prices for the average American.

Matt   August 7th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

No. Obama, YOU are a media creation.

The friction is real.

Kim, Charlotte, NC   August 7th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

The news pundits keep feeding the public that we do not know Obama, but then you all turn around and do a Poll to see if he's getting too much coverage.

Minnesota Voter for Hillary   August 7th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

Nothing will make Hillary supporters more disappointed in Obama if he and the DNC do not allow her delegates to vote on her behalf. She won half of all delegates and has a right to them at the convention.

jimmy   August 7th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

OBAMA WILL BE OFF TO WRITE HIS ACCPTANCE SPEECH AT THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION. IT WILL BE THE MOST IMPORTANT SPEECH OF HIS LIFE.
TALK OF HILLARY'S NAME BEING PLCAED IN NOMINATION IS A MERE FORMALITY TO GIVE HER SUPPORTERS THE BREATHER AND VENTING THEY NEED AND FOR THE BENEFIT OF FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN DELEGATES. HILLARY WILL SUPPORT OBAMA BUT
BOT NECESSARILY HER SUPPORTERS WHO HAVE FORMED BLOCS AND GETTING UP STEAM TO RECONSIDER ON HIS APPARENT VP CHOICE OF ANOTHER CANDIDATE OTHER THAN HILLARY. THEY WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE EITHER MONEY OR VOTES TO OBAMA IS SHE IS NOT THE VP CHOICE OF OBAMA.

Charlotte   August 7th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Why shouldn't her name be placed in nomination? She deserves to have her delegates vote for her. They better put her name up or this will indeed divide the party. Obama seems to pander to everyone, why not the 18 million people who voted for Hillary? The press reports the public are sick of seeing his face, so he takes a vacation. I hope there isn't a camera one on him for however long he rests up. Maybe he is afraid the superdelegates might change their minds at the last minute. We can only pray they will. I will write Hilary on my ballot in November and hope all her fans do the same, if they can.

Sen. Obama is being smart by centering his vacation time around the Olympics time frame so as to deflect limelight which he does NOT bring on himself. Yes, the media IS responsible for that! Thank you sir for having some respect for your fellow Americans who would rather take some time out to enjoy much needed diversion instead of being consistently subjected to frivolous campaign ads! You should try to keep the media at bay while in Hawaii because those who love to hate you will label you as an arrogant elitist as soon as you utter the word “Aloha”. Be safe!

Lyle   August 7th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

If Mr. Obama and the O-DNC are so convinced that he will win the nomination, why are they so afraid of Mrs. Clinton’s name being placed into nomination at the convention? Mr. Obama has done little to win Hillary Clinton’s supporters and this is yet another slap in the face to them and is simply another indication that even he knows he does not have the nomination sewn up. Perhaps after he returns from his (inappropriately timed) vacation he will “revise” his position on this issue.

A Message to Sen. Obama and his supporters;

Here's a quote befitting of your whole improbable journey to the US presidency. You've probably heard it before. It's from the great Mahatma Ghandi:

First they ignore you
Then they laugh at you
Then they fight you
Then you win.
So be encouraged!

Obama-Junkie, IL   August 7th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Dang Straight!

It's the freakin' mainstream media that is the problem. They love controversy and drama which is what you get with Bill and Hillary Clinton. Obama has been in the mainstream media, politically, since December 2007. Once he won Iowa, the mainstream media fell in love…(i.e. with the story of him upsetting Hillary Clinton).

Unfortunately us ordinary Americans have to put up with need for mainstream media to increase its audience, especially since the internet (political blogs and etc) has come out on nowhere to challenge the mainstream media (I sense a bit of irony here).

Hopefully Obama can go on vacation with CNN, FOX NEWS, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC not giving us a day-by-day, play-by-play of Obama's vacation.

There will be plenty of political drama to report on in the next two weeks at both party conventions with the Hillary Clintonites and Ron Paul-bangers causing mayhem.

leon0146   August 7th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Of oucrse he did not say that he will be content with Hillary's name on the ballot as he konws that a substantial amount of her delegates will vote for her. he is gettig weaker and weaked as he is an empty suit and his real colors are emerging as the good student he is from the corrupted school of Chicago.

And yes we are tired of this junior and arrogant senator who cares more about his image and how his face will look in one of the bills. I wonder who he thinks he should replace?

You should stay in Hawaii with your family and named yourself the king of Hawaii

NO DOUBT!!!   August 7th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

CNN) — Barack Obama said Thursday that the controversy over how whether Hillary Clinton’s delegates would be able to vote for her at the Democratic convention in Denver was a media creation
Namely Rush Limbaugh

Peter E   August 7th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

Forget it. Obama supporters never listen to their own candidate. They only listen to myths created by the media. They are filled with rage against Hillary because, according to the mdeia, she's responsible for every crime ever committed in the world throughout written history. Their rage makes them deaf to even their own candidate's words.
Obama says 'there is no anomisity between me and Clinton' but all his supporters hear is 'Hillary screwed everything up.' Obama says 'there is no division amongst democrats, it's all created by the media' but all his supporters hear is 'Hillary divided democrats and is bringing down the party with her.'

Arkansas Undertaker   August 7th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

It's the media and the Clinton's and the Republicans who are responsible for Obama fatigue. Why don't you guys stop trying to dissect every word that is said and stop trying trying to make up stories to fill your 24 hour news cycle. I am also tired of looking at John McCain's snarly face every time I turn on the TV. If he gets elected I will have to keep my remote control handy like I have done for the last 7 1/2 years. The other 50% of Americans would like a President that they can stand to see and listen to. If people are tired of looking at Barack Obama they can do like I do. Change the channel! I also plan to vote for him in November. See ya then.

Media creation? Just read through today's CNN ticker blogs.

Count how many apparent Obama supports call Hillary supportes scum and loonies and crazies and idiots and everything they call the Repbulians. Then count how many apparent Hillary supporters are calling Obama supporters the same thing.

There are two protest marches planned for the Democratic conventlon by Hillary supports to protest Obama.

These are facts. It's going to be quite a show.

If the hate intensity was not so great it would be fun to watch. But they just nabbed a guy who made a death threat against Obama today. That is what comes from all the hate.

Reality Check   August 7th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

If Hillary is planning to run again, she is making a big mistake. There are many of us that would personal campaign against her and destroy that crazy woman completely. Hillary will never be president because we will never forget.

Clinton/McCain   August 7th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

The only cure for "Obama fatigue" is if he drops out of the race! He said to donors back in June that he didn't want any negotiating done at the convention. So, based on that statement he will not let her delegates vote for her.

Vegas   August 7th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

When Senator Barack Obama was in Israel last week he followed tradition and left a note to God in the crevices of the Wailing, or Western Wall. That his note was taken from its repository and made public is an interesting turn of events. And even more interesting in that the note and its public exposure was indeed planned by the Obama Campaign. That's right - planned!

It was all revealed when a spokesman for Maariv, Israel's second most popular newspaper, went public by saying "publication of the note was pre-approved for international publication by the Obama campaign, leading to the conclusion that the 'private' prayer was intentionally leaked for public consumption." As reported on Israeli Insider.com "A Ma'ariv spokesman was quoted in the Jerusalem Post as saying that 'Barack Obama's note was approved for publication in the international media even before he put [it] in . . . '"

No Mister Obama… above is one of many reasons people don't trust you and will not vote for you…. many of which are Democrats!

Slow news day. I would not put it past Hillary or her supporter to backdoor Obama and try to steal the nomination. She has been laying low for weeks, no doubt plotting with Penn, Ickes, McAuliffe etc. I don't trust her as far as I could throw her. She just want to hear her name said in nomination for what. So her suspect 18 million can cheer. I wonder how many PUMA's will show up if they are charged $5 a piece to march,(2 for Hillary, 1 for bail when they are locked up for disturbing the peace and 2 for Denver police overtime).

keep saying that Obama, it's no myth that I'm a life long Democrat who would never vote for you. I find your use of race against your opponents disgusting. How you could paint the Clintons as racist for your own gain was truly horrible, and is not what I was taught we do as Democrats. People will figure him out eventually, he's a fraud. This country elected George Bush twice, we obviously don't make the best choices, Obama will be another Bush, a total failure.

GoMcCain08   August 7th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

The "talks" have been going on since June with no resolution. If Dean and Pelosi weren't so hot to keep Hillary's name out of nomination, then they would have reached a decision. Currently, the Obama and Clinton supporters asking for Hillary's name to be on the ballot, have gotten no answers from Pelosi on how to properly submit the petition.

It wouldn't be in the news, if Pelosi wasn't inept. But it makes Obama look like out of touch with reality stating it is a media creation. Perhaps he is a media creation too?

Lesley   August 7th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

PUMA types: ENOUGH!!!!!!!!! All this nonsense that somehow Obama masterminded some sort of nefarious theft and manipulation of the Democratic nomination process, fueled by some sort of coordinated and nasty campaign of mysogeny and nastiness directed at HRC, would be laughable, if it weren't for all of you continuing to beat that drum to death.

There were rules established before the primaries started. Obama followed them. He eventually won enough pledged delegates and received the committment from enough "Superdelegates" to earn the nomination. He won. With or without full votes from MI and FL. YOU ARE THE ONES WHO CLAMOURED TO CHANGE RULES MID-GAME. STOP YOUR NONSENSE!!!

Quick question: Have you ever dreamed of acting like this in the past? Really! No? Gee, you mean you always previously coalesced behind the Democratic nominee even if your original choice lost? Well, then, what's different THIS year….. hmmmmmmm??? Could it be because the guy is BLACK??

Scream all you want, but either you are racist, or you don't geniunely support the policies that HRC advocates.

Obama's indulgence of HRC's strident supporters is admirable, but they have GOT to get over themselves. Marching through Denver will create a horrible spectacle that will appear in every pro-McCain ad between then and November. Obama supporters would unquestionably supported HRC had she won. But she didn't. It is time to unite behind Barack, and to stop your idolatry of Hillary.

Wake up people. Clear your head. Anyone running for the highest office in the world has cause to seem elitist. And don't tell me McCain doesn't act all high and mighty. Even though Obama is clearly the best candidate, it will be very hard for him to win. The fact of the matter is, by being African American, Obama is giving McCain a 10 points. Look at the reality:

1) Ronald Reagan was known to be a great communicator. Obama is even a better communicator, but now he is called a celebrity.

2) Obama trip to europe was a huge success. What country wouldn't want to have a president that is so popular around the world? However, this does not help Obama. They say he is too popular to lead. When he looked very presidential, they say he was acting like he was already president.

3) Now the media is saying people are too tired of Obama … like it is Obama fault.

4) Obama judgement has been 100% accurate in regards to iraq … so it is clear that judgement is much better then experience. However, they talk about him being inexperience. Here is a man who has defied so many all odds: 1st) First black president of Harvard law Review. 2nd. Beat Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination … which we all thought would be impossible. 3rd) Here is a man who has run a very successful campaign by any stretch of the imagination. 4th) Here is a man who has re-defined the meaning of campaign funding. Based on these facts, it should be obvious to a duck that obama is clearly a born leader. He has something special.

Even Micky Mouse can lead The US. It is all about who you have around you … and you can say obama is all talk and no substance, but there is no getting around the fact that he knows how to pick a good team. Personally, I am 1000% sure Obama would take America to another level … a much higher level if given the opportuinty. The signs are all there.

Finally, at the end of the day, Joe America is Actually looking for a President that is more like them … so Joe America is actually looking for a John McCain. If Obama was white, he would be leading McCain by 20 points. So the reason why the Democratic party is doing so well and the presidential race is so close is the issue of race. Hillary and Bill Clinton were right when they said that Hillary would have a better chance to win. hey knew that race would hurt Obama.

Marty   August 7th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

Yeah, right. Just 1 week of relief after 1 year of 24/7 MSM coverage of Obama won't cut it. This non-stop coverage of Obama makes many people want to gag. And. . .I'll bet every move of his week-long "vacation" will be orchestrated and reported daily.

To Jimmy,

Hillary supporters didn't contribute to her campaign b/c if they did she wouldn't be in debt, so with that said we don't expect them to contribute anything to Obama.

To Gary,

Stop acting like you are a supporter of Hillary. We all know you just someone the GOP is paying to keep this crap up. And if you're not part of the GOP just say that you have a problem voting for black man.

I am sorry but being 1st Lady or serving in the military doesn't mean anything to me. I want a President that will have good judgment and doesn't owe everyone in Washington a favor like Hillary and McCain.

Jacob, NM   August 7th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Don't count on a vacation Senator. If you want to give the American people a break good. But the media will not, they're going to follow you wherever you go inspite of their report that the public is tired of you. Let's see if the media can give it a rest, as well.

Denial!!!!

This Hillary supporter cannot support Obama. I will support McCain, a man of true convictions, one that has had a record of bipartisan accomplishments, one that supported the surge when many said the war was lost, one that will not look Americans in the eye and tell them truth, unlike Obama and his denial of his "refinement" of Iraq.

jim   August 7th, 2008 6:20 pm ET

this is a perfectly well timed vacation. The olympics are coming up, which will take over most of the newscycle. He definitely needs a vacation, after all he's not taking saturdays and sundays off like mccain does most of the time. And, he never got a real break between the primaries and now. He took easter off (how shocking!) and i'm guessing that for christmas he was in full Iowa swing. He's not a robot, he needs some time to think, especially since he actually has some input into what he says everyday (if you don't believe me, checkout his sample test answers from his days as a constitutional law prof, the man can write!). He can't take any breaks after the convention… so lay off!

What if?   August 7th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

Lyle with people like you Obama could will never do enough for Queen Hillary. It's a shame that some of her supporters think they have the right to tell Obama what he can and can not do. NEVER have we had a nominee that was suppose to be MADE to do what you say. I bet we can guess why. Most of you are not even on his level, that's what so sad about it.

Hillary made her own debt……..don't understand why that's still a issue anyway…18 millions supporters (and you) should have had her debt paid in full by now………..that show's all mouth and that it was true, most of them 18 million were republicans, who now send their money to McCain.

Go and enjoy your vacation Obama, Hillary vacationed owing 15 million + in debt. I guess while you are on vacation we should prepare ourselves for McCain whining act day after day after day…….

I wish you and your family a blessed and fun relaxating vacation.

Why can't Hillary's supporters retire her debt. they are so in love with her - right?

I pity the Clinton's - they can't get over themselves. Why should everyone have to baby sit the Hillary supporters?

Hillary's political career is just about to be over with. And all because of her and Bill's ego. It's bigger than the jobs, housing crisis, economy, and bringing our wonderful military home. It's always about them. Pathetic.

If Hillary would grow up I would love to see her as the VP.

Excuse me Peter E, but that "woman" threw everything at the Senator, including the kitchen sink. He had to DEFEND himself, not attack her. And we didn't know Hillary was off limits. She's the one who said, "If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen". Well he withstood the heat, and he didn't leave the kitchen. Go lick your wounds somewhere else, it's not going to fly over here.

You're wrong, once again.

Obama is a pollyanna and a prima donna. Delegates need to place Hillary Clinton's name into nomination. Read the article in today's SF Chronicle in the editorial section. Basically, Obama is not the man for the job. Does he even know what he is talking about? The author articulates what many are thinking and feeling about Obama.

Chuck, Montgomery, AL   August 7th, 2008 6:28 pm ET

Enjoy your vacation Obama. The other guy takes every week-end off and had 4 months to wander around talking to himself.

Let me see, 7 months x 8 weekend days per month = about 56 or so days the other guy has had off - Hmmmmmmm. Watch the wise guys start making snide remarks.

SamSunny   August 7th, 2008 6:28 pm ET

I am 100% for Obama, but I think he plays to the Clintons too much. Bill Clinton is out there having his tantrums and Hillary still wants the thrill of cheers, and Obama says these people are just great. I know he wants things to appear smooth so Hillary's backers will be happy,
but enough is enough…..it is getting to a point where I say, just let happen what will happen with her malcontents, and that includes good old Billy boy.

I'm a disenchanted Republican voting for Barack Obama. I'm also disenchanted with the Democrat Party. The media can stir up the mix till it boils over, and it doesn't matter. There are voters like myself who see Barack bringing change for the better to the country and to both political parties in the process. I ignore the media gossip, because that is all it is. A rift at the Democratic convention, won't bother me, I will still vote for Barack. With the Democrats that vote for him, along with Independents and the disenchanted Republicans, he will win.

NG in DC   August 7th, 2008 6:31 pm ET

Obama is so full of BS. He LOVES the rock star attention.

If he gets to the White House, he'll suddenly want a vacation, because there will be real work to do. Just wait till the country shouts out: Shut up with the speeches man ….DO SOMETHING NOW.

No more books…no more big rallies… no more celebrity parties and magazine photo-ops ….. change something — including my mind that you were ready to lead … and all the kids and black folk in the country were right about you …

Still hoping you pick Hillary as VP …dude. I'll even send some money your way, man, if you do.

Bayou Joe   August 7th, 2008 6:32 pm ET

This is the media speaking. So it's our fault that there are divisions in the Democratic Party. Get a life, Barak, You created those divisions to defeat Hillary and now you are using them to beat McCain. Fortunately we will not buy it this time. We know who raised the Race and Gender card. Blame the DNC for you problems and also how the Democrats divide people into categories of Americans. I am a Republican and 100% American, although the Democratic Party
still has me labeled as an Hispanic American.

How do you become an unhyphenated American? You step off
the boat on Long Island. But if you were already on this continent, you are a hypenated American forever. Native and Proud.

In a McCain campaign "Economic Communications Plan" that was obtained by the Huffington Post, an aide to the Senator lays out several themes, tactics and objectives to shore up the Arizona Republican's standing on the economy and paint Barack Obama as a "job killing machine."

"Our polling tells us that Americans are still not tuned into what the candidates might do to fix the economy," reads the memo. "We have an opportunity to fill in that gap."

The strategy, which was authored by Taylor Griffin — a veteran of the Bush White House and Treasury Department who serves McCain as a senior adviser — seems built around traditional themes. The McCain campaign will paint Obama as being "aligned with trial lawyers" and "unions (card check, trade, education reform)," and push the frame that he "raises taxes" and "will kill jobs."

In contrast, McCain will be positioned as a bold leader on economic matters, someone who has a "record of taking on corporate interests" and will "fight speculation driving up prices of oil and food" as well as "the lawsuit culture." per Hunt. Press.
Sen. McCain and his Evil Empire!

Same OLD Washington Junk

Clinton/McCain   August 7th, 2008 6:52 pm ET

I don't care what is done at the convention. My parents and I from PA will never vote for Obama.

Lazarus   August 7th, 2008 6:54 pm ET

No party division? Seems that Obama is attempting sound confident and in-charge, but I wonder if he is going to drive even more of those Hillary supporters to the other side of the fence with this and the Democratic convention nonsense that has been planned. I was an independent that switched parties to vote in the primary because I was interested in Hilliary and very nervous about the front running Republicans at the time.. but, wonder, of wonders, the Democrats managed to boot it and nominate the most liberal of it's contenders, and the Republicans nominated perhaps it's most flexible. (Please, partisans, no debating it, McCain crosses party lines far more often in votes, and has a very long track record.)
I wonder if the DNC, smelling blood with the tremendous dissatisfaction with the GOP, thought that they could run a super liberal for President and not face an enormous amount of resistance? I am furious with the Democrats for failing again to run someone that can truly contend with the Republican machine in Washington. Hillary could have done it, but Obama has nothing close to that kind of experience, and for all the talk of polarizing figures, Obama, because of his policy ideas, will become a lightning rod for Republican opposition, and they are far more organized and adept at confrontational politics than the Democrats. If Obama wins, it's going to be very close, and I have a feeling that may usher in a very, very ugly four years of wrangling in the capitol.

Allan   August 7th, 2008 6:54 pm ET

My family was for Obama. But not anymore. He play race card. My family is white, so he make bad person and racist if we are not for Obama.

NEWS ALERT: RECENT POLLS SHOW POLLS THIS SEASON ARE NO USE

mary   August 7th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

many of Hillary supporters were republicans who will be voting in there party in the election. So it is time that we look to the election win come November. many voters are stuck in the mud and can,t get out.if the democrats do not win this election many voters will not have confidence in the system period and may never vote again.Ther is a whole new generation watching this election that will be voters in the next 10 to 12 years from now and we need to instill in them that the democratic system is for everyone not only the few. One Clinton speaking at the convention is enough.

Allan   August 7th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

My family was for Obama. But not anymore. He play race card. My family is white, so he make us bad person and racist if we are not for Obama.

Larry H, NYC   August 7th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

I think Hillary should be put in nomination process at the convention. If Obama clearly has more delegates, what is he or his supporters afraid of? The voices of voters need to be heard. This democracy in action. I am not happy with the fact the media decided not to cover what I consider Obama's biggest flip flop. First against and now for full Michighan and Florida representation because it benefits him now. If he was for full representation in March, he would not be the "presumptive" nominee and we would probably go to the convention to decide anyway. I think Hillary supporters have a legitimate beef.

Jean   August 7th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

Peter (CA)   August 7th, 2008 7:07 pm ET

Remember there are still 90 days until the election. The media does need stories to keep everything interesting. But, it's not just the media.

I think Hillary is way too smart too sit back and let this election be handed to the Republicans because she will then experience a horrendous backlash. And, frankly, anyone who truly supports Hillary (and I voted for her in the CA priamry) knows that she will support Obama to be president rather than risk another 4 or 8 years of Republican rule. Stevens and Ginsberg are rumored to be ready to retire. Do we want another Scalia, Thomas or Alioto on the Supreme Court?

We must all unite to set this country right. McCain embraces more and more Bush policy every day, no matter what he tries in distancing himself from this failed administration.

Shannon   August 7th, 2008 7:08 pm ET

Sherry in Atlanta, you seem like a very angry person, I understand why you support Obama, he seems to bring out the worst in people. As for HIllary changing her mind, well Obama has flip flopped on every issue. He was for and against FISA, he was for and against Public Financing, he was for and against the DC gun ban, he was for and against a woman's right to choose when it concerns her mental health. He voted for a gas tax holiday three times in IL, and than was against it when HIllary proposed it. He was for huge tax breaks for big oil when he voted for the CHENEY Energy Bill, but now he's against what he voted for. Reverend Wright was his mentor and like a member of the family, now he barely knows him. Bill Clinton was a racist, now he's a good guy. Seriously Sherry, that's some flip flopping. I probably didn't' even cover a portion of all the changes he's made . Oh wait, he was against drilling now he's for it. Sherry do you even know his voting record, or do you just like pretty speeches. Check out Senate.gov, you might learn something if you do.

Cindy, Hawaii   August 7th, 2008 7:12 pm ET

It’s clear that Hillary supporters do NOT care about this country. Some of them are so childish as to not vote for the rightful nominee (Mr. Obama) or vote for Mc Same or write her name on the ballot. How is this beneficial for the country? Apparently Hillary’s supporters are elitists who don’t have to worry about losing their homes, paying $4 for a gallon of gas, or not having health insurance. Get this through you thick heads - AMERICA SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER FOUR YEARS OF CORUPTION & FAILED POLICIES!

Lance   August 7th, 2008 7:12 pm ET

I do not understand the confusion on how ppl can be sick of Obama coverage while also not knowing enough about him. Maybe if any of his positions were consistent for more than a month. I guess Fisa, public financing of campaigns, the iraq war, gun control, lobbyist money, environmental policy, etc etc are not important topics in this election.

Everybody wants this country to come together and work together to face the difficult problems ahead. Unfortunately the guy with the proven track record of reaching across the aisle is being completely ignored by the same ppl who claim this is the most important factor in the election.

Educate yourself people don't just open up your mouth to talk by ignoring the fact.   August 7th, 2008 7:14 pm ET

The only hillary surpporters are the ones on this blog cause all they can see Hillary not the issues they want a white person and a woman well there is nothing wrong with that but don't blame Obama for Hillaty loss cause it was all her fault when the primary started she thought she had it all but Obama made her work for it but by the time she will work for it it was late and all she did was play the victim of sexism and she also played the race card.I respect what she did for women coming from behind but remember she has been planning this years ago to run for president but she never plan to fight for it so people if you are too blind to see beyond your nose then its a shame cause the fact is Hillary clinton lost the nomination herself.

United   August 7th, 2008 7:16 pm ET

We adore Hillary, but we like McCain.
According to one major poll he actually has more Republican support than Obama has Democratic.
Moore thought it is time to stop electing white men, so the Dems found a black man that sat in a racist church for 20 years. All the far left elected him because he did not vote for the war and had no history, yet he was not even elected yet to vote. What would he have voted if he could have? Perhaps the expert Democratic Party guy from Michigan would be kind enough to enlighten the five of us non-existent racist democrats who are really republicans.
Pelosi, Dean and Reid we are the mavericks, we live in a world with all Americans, we listen to the concerns of our fellow republican Americans, we do not belittle and hate them. We recognize that their issues are as important to them as ours are to us.
Now, as you have chosen us a candidate who the more we find out about the more we are apalled, we will Unite (for now) with our republican bethren to fight against your obvious incompetence.
We know McCain is a far cry from Bush, how, because we looked at his history. You write vile comments about McCain, yet whine at how he is playing dirty, ha ha……
Hillary or McCain / Powell

There are a lot of Republicans here posing as Hillary supporters again, trying to stoke the fires. McCain thrives to the extent that they can create bad blood among the Democrats.

Ignore those messages….. a few may be genuine, but most have Karl Rove's fingerprints all over them.

Obama is absolutely right. The media takes a little Hillary clip and blows it way out of proportion. They need to go give McCain some more coverage. Obama doesn't want this coverage, it's the media and it's not positive. McCain wants more coverage so go dig up his skeletons. He has a lot of them!

Obama supporters, if you really are…PLEASE stop insulting Senator Hillary Clinton. For us to heal, we must not reinforce walls that we need to break down. It does not help any of us who wish to see Senator Barack Obama become the next president of these great United States. We have real issues to content with, like our country being 24th in the world (down from #1 20 years ago) in mathematics. Let's do better and lift each other up. If McCain supporters choose to insult Obama or Clinton…well, we can't stop them, but we don't have to participate…which means not insulting Senator McCain either…think about it. Thanks.

Indiana Bob   August 7th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

I guarantee you that PUMA is not a media creation!! I have voted Democratic since 1972, but not this time. I will not vote for an empty suit topped with a bobble head and supported by training wheels. And the Democrats better get rid of Dean, Pelosi, and Reid. I even find myself watching Fox news now so I can get my political fix without vomiting. Back when the Democratic Party used to exist, Fox made me vomit. You remember, back in the days of a booming economy and a budget surplus. But Pelosi thinks it is more important to elect a black man than it is to solve our country's problems. But then she is no better at solving problems than Obama. They both just talk about solving them.

The people killing are led by tyrants, yes the leaders that hurt the people that they are supposed to protect.

obama have demonstracted the character of a true poltician, americans are looking politics full of issues, ideal and reforms. Obama is the man to watch, in him come a policy of hope.

JIM...TX   August 7th, 2008 7:39 pm ET

There isn't any 18 million HRC supporters you fools. Rush an that goofy mob of his were probably half of those signing on to Hillary because they wanted her to be the nominee and they knew that even their poor candidate McCain could beat her due to the baggage and hate from conservatives she brings to the table. Ever wonder why her debt isn't being paid??? Rush's bunch won't give and the few thousands of her PUMA's aren't enough to get her on the ticket. Get real people!!!

Ex-Republican for Obama   August 7th, 2008 7:40 pm ET

Clinton's name WAS in the nomination, and she lost. It was called the PRIMARY elections. Delegates that voted for her LOST, but they WERE counted. No reason to have a REMATCH at the convention, that's what 2012 is for.

Independant Thinker   August 7th, 2008 7:42 pm ET

Obama created a lot of that friction himself by playing the RACE card against Bill and Hillary on more that one occasion.

Add to that the size of Obama's EGO in conflict with the Clinton's EGOs and well, you've got a problem.

Lisa   August 7th, 2008 7:43 pm ET

Obama will do and say anything to win. Yesterday CNN said that the American people was tired of him and now all of a sudden he's in Hawaii on vacation, WOW!!

paul oregon   August 7th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Carl from MI   August 7th, 2008 7:46 pm ET

This is one of the MANY reasons why Obama is in the news so much. Stupid stories like this CREATED by the media just to stir up some stuff.

It's the media's fault for trying to create SENSATIONALISM… if only there was something SENSATIONAL about McCain they could write about!! I almost feel sorry for the media…. ALMOST!!!

mama coo   August 7th, 2008 7:47 pm ET

The media and talking heads are at it again. They all vilified the Clinton's throughout the primaries and here we go again. Their ratings must be falling because all the radio and tv host are hyperventilating about the rift between the Clinton's and Obama. Leave the Clinton's alone. Obama, his camp and Obama fans have made it clear that they don't need the Clinton's. Obama did say that he could get Hillary's supporters but Hillary couldn't get his.
How many ways do the Clinton's have to say they are behind the Democratic nominee. No matter what they do the media will criticize them, Obama fans will vilify and demean them and their supporters. It seems that the Obama camp are somewhat intimidated by the Clinton's. If Obama is the ONE then move on.
Also, why shouldn't Clinton's delegates be given the opportunity to express their support? Isn't that the purpose of the convention? Is Obama afraid that he won't be the nominee? I enjoyed past conventions when delegates from the various states stood up with their hats and buttons and patriotic clothes to give a speech and put their delegates to the person their state chose. Why is it different now that Obama is the presumptive nominee?

Liugi in CA   August 7th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

In Obama's dreams. I've NEVER voted Republican. But this slick huckster is pushing me hard to break that rule.

jFA   August 7th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

If Hillary Clinton legitimately had "half" &/or 18 million genuine committed Democrats and Hillraisers for Hillary, she would have zero need to retire her Democratic Party Primary Campaign DEBT!

FRED, Atlanta GA   August 7th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

MAN there are a lot of republican idiots on this blog.. Barack doesn't need hillary supporters he's got plenty of his own and then some, hillary's supporters aren't even there for hillary she's in debt so why don't ALL OF U STAUNCH supporters of hillary HELP her out instead of relying on obama's donors. You guys are full of BS as I stated b4 go right ahead and vote for MCSENILE and slap hillary in the face that will just leave more room for TRUE HILLARY supporters to come and vote for Barack since she and he pretty much see eye to eye on a lot of issues.

OBAMA 08/12 YES WE CAN & YES WE WILL!!!!

St. Paulite   August 7th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

Ok Mr. Obama, you go ahead and convince yourself there's not going to be an angry/unhappy mob at the Denver Convention, complaining about how you "stole" the nomination because your Party "elders" "Hand-Picked" you for the spot!!!!!! Don't underestimate Hillary supporters! That's all you like to do to us, is demean us and diminish our strength. But, don't worry, you can't "beat down the women"!!!! We'll be there, making sure your "day in the sun" involves a little black clouds. OOOPS, I'm sure now your supporters/campaign staffers will say that's a racist statment! Everytime someone who doesn't believe you are prepared for the Presidency of the United States of America says anything in support of the more qualified candidate, you say "Just a minute sweety…". Mr. Obama is a sexist pig. He only cares about the Muslims he won't allow to be on camera when he is. VOTE MCCAIN IN 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Todd   August 7th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

For all of you Hillary supporters who plan to vote for McCain or not at all: Really? You're really willing to sell out your friends, family, and the rest of the nation for a personal grudge? Did you hear a single word Hillary was saying on the campaign trail? Have you listened to McCain's blathering? You're really willing to take four more years of spectacularly failed policies and watch this country go further over the cliff? You're really willing to watch the Constitution be shredded beyond repair?

I am bewildered by the selfishness of you PUMA types. Obviously everything the candidates have been saying mean nothing to you if you're merely voting based on spite. If Hillary had won, you can bet your bottom dollar that Obama supporters would hold their nose and vote for her to avoid another four years of Republican failure.

Truly unbelievable.

Sherylanne   August 7th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

Hell yes; there's friction and let Obama and his peoples believe that 9 out of 10 Clinton supporters will back him … take it to the convention and find out how wrong the Obamacans are.

Mike   August 7th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

Obama is apparently without a clue as to what is going on in his own party. I'm not a bit surprised.

The party and his Presidential hopes will crash and burn at the Democrats convention.

Erika, KS   August 7th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

Oh Please! You're dreaming in la la land if you think there is zero friction!

You treated Hillary like dirt and I will NEVER AGAIN vote for a man for president! You lost all credibility by throwing everyone under the bus!

You continue to do and say anything that you think will help you win! Your ego is bigger than the problems in this country, isn't it? Sure wish you would just go away. LOVE YOU HILLARY! Go McCain. No longer supporting democrats.

Obama is really stupid to say the media is making this up. Doesn't he have any contact with his own political party! What a moron.
