(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama's campaign released a tough new Ohio radio ad Friday that said Sen. John McCain and his campaign manager Rick Davis were partly responsible for the potential loss of thousands of Ohio jobs.
"[T]here’s something John McCain's not telling you: It was McCain who used his influence in the Senate to help foreign-owned DHL buy a U.S. company and gain control over the jobs that are now on the chopping block in Ohio," says the announcer in the new spot, which includes recordings of the presumptive Republican nominee promising "straight talk."
"And that's not all: McCain's campaign manager was the top lobbyist for the DHL deal...helped push it through. His firm was paid $185,000 to lobby McCain and other senators. Now 8,200 Ohioans are facing layoffs, and foreign-owned DHL doesn't care.... John McCain. Same old politics. Same failed policies."

DHL is considering moves that would result in the loss of than 8,000 jobs in Wilmington, Ohio. McCain visited the town Thursday, as workers continued to protest the proposed cuts.
UPDATE: The McCain team fought back Friday afternoon. "The Obama campaign's hysterical reaction to our latest ad shows just how far they'll go in attacking anyone who discusses Barack Obama's actual record and the impact of his plans on American families. In Barack Obama's rarefied universe, votes and actions have no consequences," said campaign spokesman Brian Rogers in a statement.

"This allows him to say he opposed the Bush-Cheney energy policy when in fact he voted for it. And this allows him to say he is on the side of the middle class when he voted for tax increases on people making just $42,000 per year. The bottom line is that Barack Obama's plans for higher taxes on oil means higher prices at the pump and his plans for increasing taxes on businesses and investment means fewer jobs for hardworking Americans,” said Rogers.

CNN post my comment!
If you think this is something you should read more about how McCain dogged his first wife when he came back home from Vietnam for his current wife. That's a shame how he did that woman. And you McCain supporters think he is a man of character. Yeah right!
That is all Obama knows....Lies!!
The haters on this site show why nothing gets done in Washington. Use the proper names like Sen Obama and Sen McCain. Use of smear names is not going to help your candidate win and only leads us further down the wrong path. The real truth, The Democrats control Congress and their version of change and looking out for the American public is to take vacation and not vote on energy legislation. No wonder Congress's approval is half the President's
Funny how the Republican supporters and Puma people almost always pull out the same lines no matter what the topic.
Obama knows that the Americans are getting a very good deal especially on Canadian oil. Working and safety standards and certainly health care benefits are mandatory and cheaper in Canada and pension plans are protected. The problem with both countries lies in the ability of both countries to move jobs out of the country into less developed countries to avoid our standards and to do nothing to help the workers in these countries.
Everyone in Cnada knows that this whole thing was a distortion and the Harper gov't paid for it.
Those are jobs that would have been lost if that company was not bought by dhl. Obama wants to raise the minimum wage by three dollars an hour. What affect do you think that will have on companies that employ Americans but are owned over sees.
I ask this question all the time but i guess you are all to scared to answer . maybe this time one of you would like to take a stab at that, or why jobs started to go over sees when Pelosi raised the minimum wage two years ago.
About time BO starts bringing the real issues to the voters' attention! Yeah, gray-haired dude, epxlain that!
John McCain is unelectable.
@leon...yeah then Obama can tell them that the bill provided the biggest investment in alternative energy in the history of this country and how when the bill came up to strip the oil companies of all those tax breaks...MCCAIN DIDN'T EVEN VOTE! But then again he didn't vote on the gas tax holiday bill, even though he's been using it as a center piece of his energy policy. And don't forget all the NO's McCain voted on in the case of alternative energy thoughout his years in congress. All don't mention the 2 critical energy votes that failed by one voted that McCain didn't bother to show up and vote on...
The only things foreign to Obama are facts.
To BK :
McCain did lobby HARD for the DHL deal! Now he wants a federal investigation?! PLEASE!!!! Would he want this investigation if he did not need votes to when POTUS? Why is it when McCains chickens come home to roost, its blown off as a Democratic scheme to muddy him? I guess the Keating 5 was all the Democrats doing as well! OOPS there I go bringing up his dirt again!
Obama, it your big unions (which support you) that caused companies to leave Ohio. The unions have run expenses up too high for the companies to profit so they have left for areas that can be profitable. You should give back all the money the unions have support you with. Unions are destroying the US corporations for their own power, not for the workers' benefits.
Obama continues with facts while mcain continues BS
So, let me get this straight. McCain brought you the jobs in the first place, and now you are blaming him saying that he is trying to take them away? That makes sense how?
Obama, it's your big unions (which support you) that caused companies to leave Ohio. The unions have run expenses up too high for the companies to profit so they have left for areas that can be profitable. You should give back all the money the unions have supported you with. Unions are destroying the US corporations for their own power, not for the workers' benefits.
The truth hurts, doesn't it repubs!? You make an innocuous answer to a woman in a townhall about tire pressure gauges the whole plank of why you think Obama is ignorant on energy (when in reality he has a whole plan) and yet you are costing real people real money every day.
And to the one that says Obama is for NAFTA, get your facts straight. Obama wants to fix NAFTA. McCain is all for it.
How many jobs will Obama cost when he raises corporate taxes? Companies can take losses for only so long before they need to cut costs (layoff non-essential workers). Same with the "windfall tax" nonsense...as if the companies won't simply charge more to cover the cost. Obama is an idiot!
Tax the rich and companies to pay for the lives of the poor? Is this really what America is about? If you don't care enough about yourself to GET A JOB and support yourself, why should I be forced to help pay your way?
Senator McCain and other career politicians will probably use this as another opportunity to travel at tax-payer expense to study the problem... then form a committee.
Now that we are talking about jobs, how about talking about the national debt, social security, national health care, America's image overseas, federal hiring programs, border security, education.
Granted national politicians don't actually buy their own food or pump their own fuel, but one would think they could see the loss of good jobs and take a stand for the people.
Um, excuse me. At the time the DHL deal went through, how many jobs did it create? Jobs we are now losing in an ever tightening economy.
Really Senator Obama, I thought you were better than this.
McCain.....This jobs are gone and they aint come back
800,000 of them...who is really running the McCain camp...how many have their hands up the puppet?
It's amazing how many people will post a comment, withought having a clue what they are talking about.
No, Obama is not for NAFTA! Clinton created it, Bush loved it, McCain loves it, but Obama wants to CHANGE IT!!! Obama wants to change it, so that we don't keep loosing jobs to other countrys.
No, it wasn't a simple selling of a Corporation! The merger by American owned Airborne, and German owned DHL was only possible if the SENATE APPROVED THE MERGER!!!! Everyone knew that DHL would lay people off once the company's were merged! Ohio workers didn't want the merger, but the Greedy Corporations did! Both Companys paid Davis hundreds of thousands of dollars, so that he would influence Senators to vote for the merger. One of those Senators influenced and paid off for a vote was... John McCain!!!! McCain willing took money from the Corporations for his vote that took away jobs in Ohio!!!!! Other Republicans gladly took Corporate Money too, and they got the vote to merge.
Now, Ohio is loosing 8,000 Jobs!!!! Whose to blame???? The Greedy Corporations: Airborne & DHL!!!!! Plus: Davis the lobbyist, John McCain the Republican Senator and other money hungry politicans like him!! Now John McCain has even made Davis his campaign manager, because McCain likes how the guy can get MONEY & Get Things Done!!!!
OHIO VOTERS SHOULD THINK ABOUT THAT!!!!!
HOW DO YOU LIKE McLame now?????
1. Can you interpret the new symbol used by the Obama campaign instead of the American Flag?
2. Can you explain the set up of the crowds in Berlin for Obama?
Friends say it was initiated by a rock band concert.
Thanks very much.
And You? Mr Obama will cost the "Whole USA it's future"..
I've been wondering when Obama was going to start actually hitting McCain instead of merely slapping him on the wrist, or doing nothing at all.
Obama do some research on DHL... DHL failed because it wasnt as good a UPS/Fedex... thats why the jobs are leaving.. but it doesent make economic since for growth... ... but o well the GOVT should buy DHL and bail them out to save the jobs and cost everyone more money!
