Tickets for Obama's convention speech sold out

Obama will accept his party's nomination at Invesco field.
Obama will accept his party's nomination at Invesco field.

(CNN)– Tickets for Barack Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech at the Invesco Field in Denver sold out within 24 hours, according to campaign officials.

In early July, convention organizers announced the Illinois senator would officially accept the Democratic nomination at the 75,000 seat stadium rather than a 20,000 seat hall.

According to the Colorado Campaign for Change, the application process closed Thursday afternoon after more than 60,000 seats were snatched up.

Due to unprecedented demand, the campaign has created a waitlist for Coloradans hoping to get a chance to attend the August 28 event.

Obama's largest event to date was in Portland, Oregon, in May, where he drew an estimated crowd of approximately 75,000. He has done at least one previous stadium event, a joint appearance with talk show host Oprah Winfrey at Williams-Brice Stadium in South Carolina that drew about 29,000 people.

John F. Kennedy accepted the Democratic nomination for president in 1960 at Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, a 92,500-seat stadium in which an estimated 80,000 people gathered for his speech.

I hope they have good security there to catch all the lunatic religeous fanatics the Republicans are trying to inflame with the "The One" commercial hinting Obama is the Antichrist.

Nothing is as dangerous as a religeous fanatic, no matter where they hail from.

If any one of these freaks trys something, the Republican party needs to be indicted as a co-conspirator. If not, then it's up to the people to tear the Republican party down and burn it to ashes for what it has done and tried to do to this country.

This is the new RNC whisper campaign... why is he only 5% ahead?
Um, if you win the popular vote by 5% in an election it's a freakin Electoral landslide. If he were 12% ahead they'd be saying... well, polls don't mean anything at this point.
    :-)

    Good luck Barry!

Democrats who haven't been able to get tickets should plan to go to Denver so there can be crowds outside the stadium just to show support. Bring a group of your friends. I think there are a lot more than 75,000 who want to take part in this historic event. Why not turn all of Denver into an Obama fest?

The only reason the national polls are close is because of the southern racial states that have huge numbers against Obama. Take out those 4 or 5 southern states known for being racist and Obama numbers are dramatically increased and this is a blowout.

Even the name screams irony!! I am sure you and the three other "youths" for McCain are probably having a great time trying to explain "a google" to your candidate. Please bring Analog John in the 21st Century!

No Julie, I think you're pretty limited in any support you think you might have with your 'antichrist" beliefs. Millions don't think like you at all. You sound like a rejected, sad person (mental issues?) who needs someone to care about you, maybe something good will happen for you and you won't be so angry and bitter anymore.

Did you know most of the U.S. oil comes from Canada? However, you are made to think it comes from the Middle East.

John McCain has been in Office for over 30 years. HE is the one who should be sealing the deal, not Obama.

If you have half a brain, you will see that your life will continue to spiral out of control under the Republicans; they've gotten wealthier while the rest of us are living on the edge. Wake up people!

Do you realize that's 350,000 people who has brought together in three events to listen, see him speak? How amazeing is that? How Proud we should be as Americans that we could actually land a President who is so well thought of not only here at home, but around the whole world! Yes, he can!

Trying to keep pace, McDud plans to hold his rally at the St. Paul Auto Zone, where he will give out a free tire gauge to anyone who shows up and can correctly identify Iran and Iraq on a map.

Isn’t it amazing that so many past presidential issues during campaigns rarely matter years later? Are the Democrats making a big deal out of global warming just to play politics and make it the issue of this campaign? Or do they sincerely care about the environment? Further, are they that concerned about the environment that they will let America’s economy and industrial sector falter as they refuse to let more drilling take place? The Democrat’s political games are slowing America’s development and progress, and making us lose jobs. McCain all the way.

Keep banking on those polls, fools, Republicans, PUMAs, NFILs, you're all the same. Obama's key demographic mainly use cell phones, so there is no accurate way to poll all demographics, simply because many of the younger generation don't see the need for a land line.
