Tickets for Obama's convention speech sold out

Obama will accept his party's nomination at Invesco field.
Obama will accept his party's nomination at Invesco field.

(CNN)– Tickets for Barack Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech at the Invesco Field in Denver sold out within 24 hours, according to campaign officials.

In early July, convention organizers announced the Illinois senator would officially accept the Democratic nomination at the 75,000 seat stadium rather than a 20,000 seat hall.

According to the Colorado Campaign for Change, the application process closed Thursday afternoon after more than 60,000 seats were snatched up.

Due to unprecedented demand, the campaign has created a waitlist for Coloradans hoping to get a chance to attend the August 28 event.

Obama's largest event to date was in Portland, Oregon, in May, where he drew an estimated crowd of approximately 75,000. He has done at least one previous stadium event, a joint appearance with talk show host Oprah Winfrey at Williams-Brice Stadium in South Carolina that drew about 29,000 people.

John F. Kennedy accepted the Democratic nomination for president in 1960 at Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, a 92,500-seat stadium in which an estimated 80,000 people gathered for his speech.

Gosh Americans are dumb. These are the same people that elected Bush Twice. 2000 American made a mistake, we realized this right away and we wanted change. we stood tall and strong for CHANGE but the GOP scared the life out of us with "They Hate Us For Our Freedom" and we made the same mistake again. The man that has openly said he knows nothing about the economy and Drill Here, Drill There and Drill Now is going to Win. By this time I'm sure China will be the power house to knock America of it's throne. Just maybe than we will get our act together. If Omaba was a White man with these common sanes Ideas, he would Win this election with a great margin. CNN NO BULL NO BIAS IS ALL BULL and FOX is full of their own opinion no fact. these news media twist fact just to have big headlines. God Bless America Because it's going to hell

Sorry Obama America is not ready for you, not ready to use comon sanes.

Sold out? How much were they going for? The last I heard Obama was giving them away to his supporters. This is another tall Tale by the Dem party, tickets were not sold they were handed out. Otherwise why is there a list of people for the people that don't show up. Read between the lines people. I would LMAO if H. Clinton won the nomination for the party.

    To "Love my USA":

Are you seeing a therapist for your anger? Stop listening to Limbaugh and Hannity and stop watching Fox News. Check out the candidates at their websites.

Obama is not a celebrity, in the Hollywood sense, but his campaign is historic. And if I hear one more person talk about "Antichrist" I am going to puke. Let's grow up and approach this election as adults, please.

Hey people, try this simple exercise – in your mind paint Obama's face white, give him straight hair and then see if you would be willing to listen to him and could you still call him some of the sickening names you come up with. I love the empty suit one because that empty suit is a Constitutional Law Scholar, was a Illinois Senator for 8 yrs and a US Senator for 3.

I am furious! They never responded to my inquiry about how to get tickets. I was planning to go. I think there should have been a lottery type system to ensure that everyone had a chance. I am still so excited about the possibility of going!

NICE job BHO! In a large 75,000 seat stadium you won't hear all the BOOs from Hillary supporters as you would have in the arena, which will already be half full with her supporters.

    McCain 08
    Hillary 12

The Republicans and biased press corps have been touting that Obama cannot put McCain away and usse as evidence the poll numbers indicating his supposed inadequacy here, as if to say they need to be hugely disparate to support Obama's contention of the support he continues to see, as opposed to the meager crowds and numbers McCain pulls.

The fact is that a mere 5% to 6% separation in the polls will easily translate into an electoral landslide of well over 300 electoral college votes in the election.

Once again, misrepresent the truth coming from the poor Republicans who are now running with their tails between their legs, ignoring the obvious, and biting, scractching, and clawing to be heard.

The bitter, whacko PUMA people recently compared Obama to Adolf Hitler becaues he was holding his speech in a large stadium.

Never mind that JFK did the same thing 48 years ago.

Real Democrats are going to march to victory in November.

To all the people who ask "Why isn't Obama leading?"

Just want to remind you he has been leading by several points all summer. A lead is a lead.

This makes me think of the Left Behind Series plus Revelations from the Bible-Obama may "dooed it " and many will be duped. You can fool some of the people all the time and all of the people some of the time.

Will he (or for that matter CNN and MSNBC, the all Obama, all the time networks) say anything about John Edwards, the sure jumped quick on the Republican scandals. This one has been brewing for three weeks without a mention by the liberal press and networks.

LOVE MY USA ... what the heck is this clown thinking in his posting?

Appears to be a bigotted, biased, neo-con to me. We have had enough of those idiots. If we let them stay in power one minute longer we will have walls built around the US, the world hating us, live in a fascist state with no more constitutional rights, and gestapo on every block searching everyone's homes each evening to ensure all 'laws' are being followed.

Get a clue. Your time is over. And, it's about time

Let's see. You need to pay to see the convention speech. In an Obama adminstration, the State of the Union address will probably be on pay-per-view.

    The joke continues....
